01-05-19 | Oilers +105 v. Kings | Top | 0-4 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 19 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Edmonton Oilers. After snapping a six game losing skid, the Oilers will look to build some momentum on the road in LA tonight. The Kings are in the middle of a rebuild, sitting near the bottom of the Western Conference Standings. The Oilers are four points out of a Wild Card spot, and they have two games in hand versus he Anaheim Ducks. The Kings rank dead last in the NHL in scoring, and they rank 30th in the league on the penalty kill. The Oilers will look to take advantage with one of the league's better power plays. Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick has been brutal this year, going 6-10-2 with a 3.05 GAA. He was lit up for six goals on 33 shots in a loss to Tampa in his last start. Take EDM. GL, Jesse Schule
12-27-18 | Canucks v. Oilers -160 | Top | 4-2 | Loss | -160 | 26 h 26 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Edmonton Oilers. I have been betting on the Oilers since they fired their coach, and here is what I had to say prior to a recent win over the Minnesota Wild: "The Oilers have had some success since firing Todd McClellan and bringing in Ken Hitchcock. They come into tonight's home game against Minnesota as winners of four of their last five and three straight at home. The Wild will play their third straight game on the road, splitting games at Vancouver and Calgary. They have just one win in their last five games, and they have lost six of their last seven road games against a team with a winning record. Team captain Mikko Koivu suffered a knee injury in the win at Calgary, and his status for tonight's game is in question. Connor McDavid scored the game winner in a shootout in St. Louis on Wednesday, and he's won the scoring title in each of the last two seasons. His ice time is up since the arrival of Hitchcock, and so far that's translating into more wins for the Oilers." They play at home versus Vancouver tonight, and they will try to avenge a 4-2 loss at Vancouver just before Christmas. Take EDM. GL, Jesse Schule

11-25-18 | Oilers -125 v. Kings | Top | 2-5 | Loss | -125 | 12 h 32 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Edmonton Oilers. The Vancouver Canucks are an exciting young team that still has plenty to prove this season. Last night in LA they snapped an eight game losing skid, in what was a "get right" game for Vancouver. I bet on the over in that game, and here is what I said before the puck dropped: " The LA Kings are pathetic, owners of the worst record in the NHL. They are down to 3rd and 4th string goaltenders Cal Peterson and Peter Budaj. Peterson is a 24 year old with only four NHL starts, while Budaj is a 36 year old career backup with a GAA over 5.00 in three appearances this season." This Kings team has already thrown in the towel, and the rebuild is already a forgone conclusion. We should see another exciting young team come into LA and "get right" tonight. Take EDM. GL, Jesse Schule
11-24-18 | Canucks v. Kings OVER 5.5 | Top | 4-2 | Win | 100 | 28 h 56 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on VAN@LAK to go Over the total. The Canucks have really fallen off the hinges after starting the season strong. They have lost seven straight, and they now rank 30th in the NHL in goals against. The LA Kings are even more pathetic, owners of the worst record in the NHL. They are down to 3rd and 4th string goaltenders Cal Peterson and Peter Budaj. Peterson is a 24 year old with only four NHL starts, while Budaj is a 36 year old career backup with a GAA over 5.00 in three appearances this season. Vancouver has gone over in five of it's last six road games, and six straight versus Western Conference teams. The Over is 12-4-1 in Kings last 17 Saturday games, and I expect another sloppy game here in LA tonight. This should be like pond hockey between two young teams that can't get organized defensively. Take Over. GL, Jesse Schule
11-17-18 | Kings v. Predators -1.5 | Top | 3-5 | Win | 116 | 25 h 57 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Nashville Predators. The LA Kings are the worst team in the NHL this season, and it looks like it's time for a rebuild. Don't be fooled by their 2-1 win over Chicago in overtime last night, the Blackhawks are also one of the league's bottom feeders this season. LA will play on the road in the second game of a back to back against last year's President's Trophy winners tonight, and the Predators have the league's second best record so far this season. Pekka Rinne is 6-2-1 with a 1.53 GAA this season, and it's no surprise that his numbers are even better at home. The Predators have lost three straight on a recent road trip, and that should have them even more focused and hungry for tonight's game against a struggling Kings team. This one has "MASSACRE" written all over it. I'm taking the home favorite on the puckline. Take NAS. GL, Jesse Schule
11-03-18 | Maple Leafs v. Penguins -130 | Top | 5-0 | Loss | -130 | 9 h 40 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on Pittsburgh. The Leafs are still trying to figure out how to win without Auston Matthews: "What I find with most injuries is it takes your team a little bit to figure out how we're going to go again," Toronto coach Mike Babcock said. "It takes the coach a little bit to figure (it) out. To have success, you've got to trust all your guys. Even though your depth gets hurt a little bit, you've got to play with depth. The Pens are flying, sitting in first place in the Metropolitan Division. Pittsburgh leads the NHL in scoring averaging over four goals per game, and they are ranked in the Top 5 on special teams. Pittsburgh's home record was tops in the Eastern Conference last season at 30-9-2. History doesn't bode well for Toronto, as the Leafs are just 3-9 in their last 12 visits to Steel Town. Take PIT. GL, Jesse Schule

05-30-18 | Capitals +139 v. Golden Knights | Top | 3-2 | Win | 139 | 13 h 43 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Washington Capitals. I bet on Washington in Game 1, and I have them winning this series. They ended up giving the game away late, but now with their backs against the wall, they really need a win here to avoid going down 0-2. Here is what I said prior to the series: "The Las Vegas Golden Knights were a 200-1 bet to win the Stanley Cup before the season started, and here they are about to play Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final on home ice. This is a real Cinderella story, but the Washington Capitals have a story of their own. Alex Ovechkin is the best pure goal scorer of his generation, but he and the Capitals have played second fiddle to Sidney Crosby's Pittsburgh Penguins for the last decade. Washington's path to the Finals is far more impressive than the Knight's in my opinion. They overcame a 2-0 series deficit in the first round, and then won consecutive Game 7s against the defending champion Penguins and a Lightning team that finished first in the East. That brings me back to my description of Vegas as a "Cinderella Story". You know what happens to Cinderella when the clock strikes midnight? I'll take Ovi and the Caps as the underdog here against a younger, less experienced Vegas team that I believe is a prohibitive favorite." Take WAS. GL, Jesse Schule
05-28-18 | Capitals v. Golden Knights UNDER 5.5 | Top | 4-6 | Loss | -120 | 82 h 46 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on WAS@VGK to go Under the total. The Las Vegas Golden Knights were a 200-1 bet to win the Stanley Cup before the season started, and here they are about to play Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final on home ice. This is a real Cinderella story, but the Washington Capitals have a story of their own. Alex Ovechkin is the best pure goal scorer of his generation, but he and the Capitals have played second fiddle to Sidney Crosby's Pittsburgh Penguins for the last decade. Both these teams can credit their goaltenders for getting them this far. Marc-Andre Fleury is the favorite to win the Conn Smythe Trophy (at least in my opinion). Braden Holtby is no slouch either, coming into Game 1 off back to back shutouts. The stakes are high, and I expect Game 1 of the Finals to look a lot like a Game 7. My money is on a low scoring game to get the series started. Take Under. GL, Jesse Schule
05-07-18 | Predators v. Jets -140 | Top | 4-0 | Loss | -140 | 38 h 44 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Winnipeg Jets. We saw two teams with a chance to close out their respective series in Game 6 last night, and both the Golden Knights and the Lightning eliminated their opponents. I am expecting Winnipeg to send the Predators crashing out of the playoffs here with a big win on home ice tonight. I bet on Winnipeg in Game 5, and here is what I said prior to the game: "The Jets had the best home record in the league during the regular season, and the home team has won seven of the last 10 meetings in this series. Pekka Rinne has incredible numbers on home ice, but not so much on the road. He hasn't been great in this series so far, giving up seven goals in the first two games. Connor Hellebuyck stole Game 1, stopping 47-of-48 shots. He was 30-5-2 with a 2.31 GAA on home ice during the regular season. The Jets look younger, faster, and more skilled than Nashville so far in this series." Take Winnipeg. GL, Jesse Schule

03-31-18 | Oilers -118 v. Flames | Top | 2-3 | Loss | -118 | 11 h 28 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Edmonton Oilers. Johnny Gaudreau leads Calgary in points, and Sean Monahan leads the team in goals. Monahan is out for the season due to injury, and Johnny Hockey flew home last Sunday to attend to a personal matter. This leaves the Flames severely shorthanded here in the "Battle of Alberta". This is the most meaningful game these teams will play for the remainder of the season, and Edmonton also has a revenge factor to think about. After winning seven straight in this rivalry, the Oilers lost at Calgary by a score of 1-0 in the last meeting. The Flames come into tonight's game as losers of seven straight, and I don't like their chances of slowing down the NHL's leading scorer. Connor McDavid has been on a roll, with seven goals and six assists in his last five games. Take EDM. GL, Jesse Schule
03-28-18 | Flyers v. Avalanche -140 | Top | 2-1 | Loss | -140 | 32 h 44 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Colorado Avalanche. The Flyers picked up a point in an overtime loss at Dallas last night, and they play their second game of a back to back in Denver tonight. While Philly is relatively comfortable sitting with the first Wild Card spot in the East, the Avs are sitting in ninth place in the West. Colorado needs a win here to move back into a playoff position. and they have been playing their best hockey here down the stretch. The Avs are 26-10-2 at home, and they are 17-5 in their last 22 home games. The Flyers have lost five of their last six on the road, and seven of their last nine versus teams with a winning record. Semyon Varlamov is 14-6-2 with a 2.36 GAA on home ice this season. I'll take the home favorite in a must win game. Take COL. GL, Jesse Schule
03-27-18 | Wild v. Predators UNDER 5.5 | Top | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 16 h 39 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on MIN@NAS to go UNDER the total. The Nashville Predators rank #1 overall in the NHL in goals against. Starting netminder Pekka Rinne ranks at or near the top of the league in goals against average, save percentage and wins. Rinne is particularly unbeatable at home, where he boasts a record of 23-5-2 this season. The Predators have the President's Trophy in their sights (best reg season record), but Tampa Bay is just one point behind. Nashville will host the Minnesota Wild tonight, and the Wild also have one of the league's top goaltenders. Devan Dubnyk is 14-4-3 in his last 21 starts, and he's 3-0 with a 2.34 GAA in three starts against Nashville this season. These teams have combined for five goals or less in five of the last six meetings in the Music City. The under is 4-1 in the Predators last fvie games playing on 1 days rest. Take UNDER. GL, Jesse Schule
03-25-18 | Ducks -140 v. Oilers | Top | 5-4 | Win | 100 | 12 h 30 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Anaheim Ducks. The Ducks are still on the playoff bubble, tied on points with the LA Kings and the St. Louis Blues with 89 points. The Kings are currently in ninth place, as they have played one more game than the Blues and the Ducks. Anaheim will be on the road in Edmonton tonight, and the Oilers did them a favor by knocking off the Kings last night. Playing the second game of a back to back, we might see the Oilers rest starting goaltender Cam Talbot. That could be a big factor, as backup netminder Al Montoya has really struggled. Montoya has lost four of his last five starts, allowing a whopping 21 goals in those games. John Gibson might be the hottest goaltender in the league right now. He's 13-3-2 with a 1.80 GAA since the All Star break. He's 1-0-1 with a 1.45 GAA in two previous starts versus Edmonton this season. Take ANA. GL, Jesse Schule
03-18-18 | Devils v. Ducks -153 | Top | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 8 h 12 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Anaheim Mighty Ducks. The Devils are coming off a 3-0 win in LA last night, and they play their second game of a back to back at the Duck Pond tonight. The Rubber Duckies are coming off back to back home wins, and they are 9-4-1 in their last 14 overall. Anaheim is one of the league's elite defensive teams, ranking 5th in goals against, and 5th in the league in killing penalties. They are currently in a four way tie in the Western Conference standings, level on points with 6th place LA, 7th place Colorado and 8th place Dallas. The home team has won four straight in this series, and the Devils are 2-8-1 in their last 11 visits to the Duck Pond. New Jersey has lost four of it's last five when playing the second game of a back to back, and I like Anaheim to win a must win game at home here tonight. Take ANA. GL, Jesse Schule

This is a 10* play on the LAK.
03-08-18 | Ducks v. Predators UNDER 5.5 | Top | 2-4 | Loss | -128 | 7 h 9 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on ANA@NAS to go UNDER the total. Two of the hottest teams in the NHL will meet in the Music City tonight, and I am expecting a tight game showcasing two of the top goaltenders in the league. Pekka Rinne has won his last five starts, posting a pair of shutouts in those games. He's 21-4-2 at home this season, and he's 2-0 with a 2.41 GAA against the Ducks. John Gibson has been even more impressive over his last five starts, allowing a total of just seven goals while winning all five games. He also has a pair of shutouts during that span. These teams have combined to score five goals or less in eight of the last nine meetings at Nashville, and the under is 9-3 in the Ducks last 12 overall. Anaheim has failed to reach the total in five straight road games, and seven of it's last eight when playing on one day's rest. Take UNDER. GL, Jesse Schule
03-06-18 | Canadiens v. Devils -165 | Top | 4-6 | Win | 100 | 10 h 33 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the New Jersey Devils. The Montreal Canadiens have lost nine of their last 12 overall, and they are a team that is looking to rebuild in the off-season. They traded away talent at the trade deadline, and two of their top five scorers from last season have suffered season ending injuries. They rank 29th in the NHL in goals scored, and they are brutal on special teams. The Devils are battling for a playoff spot in the East, currently holding a Wild Card spot. New Jersey comes into tonight's home game against Montreal off three straight losses, but this looks like an ideal spot for the Devils to get back on track. While they have lost five of their last seven overall, they were without starting goaltender Corey Schneider in six of those games. Schneider returned to action on Sunday, allowing three goals on 27 shots in a 3-2 loss to the Las Vegas Golden Knights. Taylor Hall had a goal and assist in that game, and he's riding a 25 game point streak (the longest since Sidney Crosby in 2011). The Habs allowed 50 shots on goal in their last game, so I like Hall's chances of extending his streak tonight. Take NJD. GL, Jesse Schule

02-26-18 | Flyers v. Canadiens OVER 5.5 | Top | 1-0 | Loss | -115 | 11 h 59 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on PHI@MTL to go OVER the total. The Flyers have lost six straight visits to Montreal, but they have to like their chances of ending that skid here tonight. The Habs are dead in the water, and are in the process of selling off assets before the trade deadline. Tomas Plekanec has already been moved to Toronto in exchange for prospects. Carey Price is out with a concussion, and Montreal's best defenseman is out for the season. Antti Niemi has not been sharp, going 3-6-2 with a 3.76 GAA. The Flyers are also banged up, with a pair of injured goaltenders on the roster. This has forced them to trade for 26 year old Petr Mrazek, who has been lit up for 15 goals in his last five starts. When Philly plays inferior teams, often those games are high scoring. The over is 19-7 in the Flyers last 26 versus teams with a losing record. I expect to see another barn burner in French Canada tonight. Take OVER. GL, Jesse Schule
02-17-18 | Maple Leafs v. Penguins -138 | Top | 3-5 | Win | 100 | 8 h 8 m | Show |
This is an 8* play on the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Leafs are coming off a five game home stand, winning all five of those games. They come into Pittsburgh as winners of nine of their last 10 overall. The Penguins are also on a roll. They've won three straight and 10 in a row at home. The defending Stanley Cup champs have been the league's best home team over the last several seasons, and their 22 home wins this season are the most in the NHL. This game might have a bit of a revenge angle, as one of the Penguins few home losses this season came against Toronto back in December. The Leafs have lost eight of their last 11 visits to Steel Town though, and they face a red hot goaltender here tonight. Matt Murray is 14-4-1 at home this season, and he's 5-0-1 in his last six starts overall. He stopped 35 of 36 shots in a 4-1 win over Toronto the last time he faced them. The Penguins are 56-18 in their last 74 home games, and I think they are catching Toronto at a good time. This looks like a classic let down spot for the Leafs. Take PIT. GL, Jesse Schule

This is a 10* play on the Anaheim Ducks.
02-07-18 | Oilers v. Kings -126 | Top | 2-5 | Win | 100 | 13 h 14 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the LAK. The Edmonton Oilers have to be resigned to the fact that this has been a lost season. They have failed to live up to expectations, and there is plenty of work to do if they hope to get back to where they were in 2016-2017. The Kings on the other hand are just two points out of a Wild Card spot, and a strong second half would put them back in the post-season. LA has won three of it's last four overall, and Darcy Kuemper was between the pipes in all three of those wins. The 27 year old is coming off back to back shutouts, and he's an incredible 8-1-3 overall this season. With just one regulation loss in 15 appearances, I see no reason why the Kings won't ride the hot hand here tonight. The Oilers are one of the worst defensive teams in the league, and the absolute worst on special teams. Their power play ranks 30th, and their penalty kill ranks dead last. The Oilers have lost five straight at LA, and going back even further they are just 3-13 in their last 16 visits to LA LA Land. The Kings are 7-3 in their last 10 home games versus a team with a losing road record. I like the home favorite at a reasonable price. Take LAK. GL, Jesse Schule

01-20-18 | Canucks v. Oilers -170 | Top | 2-5 | Win | 100 | 9 h 26 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers came into this season as one of the favorites to win the Stanley Cup, yet here we are just days away from the All Star break, and they are only one point ahead of the Vancouver Canucks in the Western Conference standings. The Canucks got off to a great start, but reality has started to set in. This is a team that is still in the early stages of a rebuild, and that is evidenced by the fact that they lost 13 of their last 17 overall. The Oilers have won three of the last four in this series, and they have won their last two home games against the Canucks by a combined score of 7-2. The home team is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings between the two teams. The playoffs are unlikely for either of these teams, but the Oilers are more likely to go on a second half run than Vancouver. Bo Horvat is set to return to action, but not until tomorrow in Winnipeg. Take EDM. GL, Jesse Schule

01-13-18 | Jets v. Wild -138 | Top | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 9 h 55 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Minnesota Wild. The Wild are 11-2-1 at home since November 14, and this Minnesota team has one of the best home records in the NHL over the last several seasons. Star goaltender Devan Dubnyk has gotten much of the credit for their success in the past, but backup Alex Stalock has been stealing the show lately. The 30 year old veteran is 4-2 with a 1.91 GAA in seven appearances on home ice. Dubnyk stopped 34-of-35 shots in a 2-1 win at Chicago on Wednesday, and he will likely start tonight. The Jets have really struggled on the road lately, dropping 10 of their last 13 away from Winterpeg. Most recently the Jets lost 2-1 at Chicago last night, in a game that perhaps wasn't as close as the score might indicate. Playing their second game in as many nights isn't a situation that has been easy for the Jets, they are just 25-57 in their last 82 games playing on 0 days rest. Take MINNY. 01-06-18 | Ducks v. Flames UNDER 5.5 | Top | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 14 h 57 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on ANA@CAL to go UNDER the total. The Flames lost an Anaheim last week, and I bet on the Ducks in that game. The loss was just the latest in a historically one sided rivalry. The Ducks are 9-1 in the last 10 head to head meetings, and they have won four straight at Calgary. The majority of those games were low scoring, as these teams have only scored more than five goals once in the last seven meetings. Calgary ranks 20th in the league in scoring, and they don't score many goals on special teams. The same can be said of the Ducks, but Anaheim is one of the top teams in the league on defense, ranking 7th in goals against. The Ducks also boast a Top 10 penalty killing unit. The Flames have failed to reach the total in seven of their last 10 overall, while the under is 19-7-1 in the Ducks last 27 overall. With these teams each fighting for one of the last playoff spots in the West, we can expect another gritty defensive battle here in Cow Town. Take UNDER. GL, Jesse Schule
01-04-18 | Hurricanes v. Penguins -148 | Top | 4-0 | Loss | -148 | 30 h 46 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Penguins may be suffering from a Stanley Cup hangover after winning back to back cups. They have struggled this season, sitting just three points out of the cellar in the Metropolitan Division. Here is what I had to say prior to Tuesday's game at Philly: "The defending champs have had a bit of trouble putting the puck in the net this season, ranking 20th in the league in scoring. They still have one of the league's top power play units, ranking 2nd in the NHL converting on 25 percent of their chances." They busted loose scoring five goals and going 2-for-2 with the man-advantage in a 5-1 win over the Flyers. They return home to host the Carolina Hurricanes, and the Canes are coming off back to back losses. No team has won more home games than the Penguins over the last five years, and Pittsburgh still boasts a respectable 12-6-1 home record. The Canes beat the Penguins by a score of 2-1 at home last week, but Pittsburgh had won seven straight in this series prior to that. The Penguins have won four straight at home versus Carolina. Take PIT. GL, Jesse Schule

This is a 10* play on the Nashville Predators. The Predators are on a roll, coming into tonight's home game against Winnipeg as winners of three straight. They are 6-0-1 in their last seven overall, and they have out-scored opponents 13-1 in their last three games. I bet on Nashville in a recent home game against Boston, and here is what I said prior to the opening face off: "The Predators will host the Boston Bruins tonight, and Nashville is a stellar 10-2-1 at home this season. Boston comes in as winners of six of it's last seven overall, but the Bruins have a losing record on the road. They haven't had much success in recent trips to the Music City, losing three straight and six of their last seven at Nashville. The Bruins will give starting netminder Tuukka Rask the night off, and backup Anton Khudobin is 0-1 with a 3.27 GAA in his last two starts against Nashville. Pekka Rinne is expected to start for the Preds, and he's 10-1 with a 2.52 GAA on home ice this season. The Predators should have a big advantage on special teams. Boston is excellent on the penalty kill, but below average on the power-play. The Preds rank in the Top 10 in both categories, and they have the league's third best power play converting on almost 27 percent of their opportunities." The home team is 5-0 in the last five meetings between these two teams, and the Jets have lost four of their last five in the Music City. The Jets have lost six straight road games. Take NAS. 12-12-17 | Hurricanes v. Golden Knights -123 | Top | 3-2 | Loss | -123 | 33 h 47 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the LV Golden Knights. Perhaps the biggest story in the NHL this season has been the expansion team Las Vegas Golden Knights, winning eight of their first nine games. Vegas is still sitting near the top of the Western Conference standings (4 points out of 1st), and they have been particularly good on home ice. The Knights are 11-2 at home, and they have a favorable matchup in tonight's game against the Carolina Hurricanes. This will be the third game in four nights, and second game of a back to back for Carolina. They have lost six straight road games, and they wrap up this current road trip on Friday in Buffalo. This game will have added significance for the home team, as they welcome back starting goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury, who hasn't played since October. The veteran and three time Stanley Cup champion won his first three starts of the season before suffering a concussion in a loss to Detroit. The Canes have alternated goaltenders and should go with Cam Ward after Scott Darling took his fifth consecutive loss last night in Anaheim. Ward was lit up for five goals in a loss at San Jose in his last start. Carolina has lost nine of it's last 11 versus Western Conference teams, and six of it's last seven when playing on back to back nights. Take LV. GL, Jesse Schule

11-27-17 | Ducks v. Blackhawks -172 | Top | 3-7 | Win | 100 | 31 h 3 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Chicago Blackhawks. The Anaheim Ducks are coming into Chicago as losers of three straight, and injuries are piling up. Already without Ryan Kesler, Ryan Getzlaf and Patrick Eaves, leading scorer Rickard Rakell is now sidelined indefinitely with an upper body injury. The Ducks rank 27th in the league in scoring, and they face a Chicago team that has been very solid defensively. Chicago has scored 14 goals while winning three of it's last four overall. "I think we're starting to settle in as a team," said captain Jonathan Toews. "We're starting to see what it takes for us to be a good team and what it's going to take to win games the rest of the season (with) how tight our conference and division (are)." Chicago's starting goaltender Corey Crawford is 12-6-2 with a 1.92 GAA and .930 save percentage in 21 career games against Anaheim. The Ducks have lost eight of their last 10 when playing on one day's rest, and given all the injuries, they are going to be hard pressed to improve on those numbers. Take CHI. 11-22-17 | Golden Knights v. Ducks -155 | Top | 4-2 | Loss | -155 | 25 h 36 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Anaheim Ducks. Here is what I said about the Golden Knights before there were blown out in an 8-2 loss at Edmonton: "The Las Vegas Golden Knights shocked the hockey world by winning eight of their first nine games. That had never been done before by an expansion team, but the Knights were fortunate to have a pretty solid roster in their first season. Perhaps their most valuable asset is their starting goaltender Marc Andre Fleury, a veteran with multiple Stanley Cup rings as a starter with the Pittsburgh Penguins. When Fleury went out with an injury, backup Malcom Subban won back-to-back starts. When he went down with an injury, third stringer Oscar Dansk won three straight. Dansk was also lost to injury, leaving the Knights with their fourth string goaltender Maxime Lagace. It's perhaps no surprise that they have lost five of their last seven games, and Lagace's 3.58 GAA ranks 37th in the league." Lagace allowed just two goals on 29 shots in a home win over LA his last time out, but he's 2-5 with a 4.12 GAA in seven starts on the road. The Ducks have won three straight, and starter John Gibson stopped 50 shots in a 3-2 win over the Florida Panthers in his last start. Anaheim is getting healthier, welcoming back defenseman Cam Fowler who played over 23 minutes in Monday's win over the Sharks. Fowler had missed the past month with a leg injury, and his return should help the power-play that ranks just 22nd in the league. Anaheim has been one of the league's best teams killing penalties, ranking 5th with an 84.7 percent kill rate. \ Take ANA. GL, Jesse Schule
11-20-17 | Jets v. Predators -135 | Top | 3-5 | Win | 100 | 12 h 1 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Nashville Predators. I had the Preds in a 5-2 home win over Colorado on Saturday, and here is what I said prior to the opening faceoff: "The Predators have been one of the best home teams in the NHL in recent seasons, and not much has changed in that department this year. Nashville is 5-1 at home, and starting goaltender Pekka Rinne is 5-0-1 with a 2.61 GAA and a .908 save percentage in six home starts." Rinne stopped 29-of-31 shots in the victory, as Colorado scored twice in the final five minutes in a game that Nashville led 5-0 halfway through the third period. The Jets are flying high, coming into tonight's game with the second best record in the Central Division. It's quite the turnaround for a team that missed the playoffs last year. While Winnipeg is surely improved, I am skeptical about the Jets hot start. Their last six wins have come against teams that also missed the playoffs last season. They have always had a tough time winning games in Nashville, losing nine of their last 12 at Bridgeston Arena. The home team has won four straight in this series, and that's a trend that I expect to continue in Music City tonight. Take NAS. GL, Jesse Schule

11-10-17 | Bruins v. Maple Leafs -141 | Top | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 8 h 5 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Leafs didn't have their star forward and leading scorer for Wednesday's game against Minnesota, but they won by a score of 4-2. They host the Boston Bruins tonight, and it's still unclear if Auston Matthews will play. They won't get any sympathy from the Bruins though, as Brad Marchand (upper body), David Krejci (back), David Backes (colon surgery), Ryan Spooner (groin), Adam McQuaid (broken leg) and Noel Acciari (finger) all out of the lineup. The Bruins are also expected to rest starting goaltender Tuukka Rask tonight, allowing him to be fresh for tomorrow night's game in Boston. The Bruins have just one win in five road games this season, and they are 1-5 in their last six versus the Leafs. Toronto swept the season series last year, winning both home games by a combined score of 8-3. Fredrick Anderson was the game's 1st star in Wednesday's win over the Wild, and he's 4-0 with a 2.25 GAA in his last four starts against the Bruins. Take TOR. GL, Jesse Schule

11-04-17 | Blue Jackets v. Lightning -125 | Top | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 9 h 24 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Tampa Bay Lighting. The Bolts are sitting at the top of the NHL standings, and they are just a slight favorite at home to Columbus tonight. I bet on Tampa in a win over Florida Monday, and here is what I said before the opening faceoff: "Starting goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy has won his last eight starts, and he leads the league in wins. Steven Stamkos leads the league in points, and another Tampa player Nikita Kucherov leads the league in scoring with 12 goals in his first 12 games played. The Lightning have been firing on all cylinders on the power-play, converting on almos one of every three attempts." They scored eight goals in a blowout win over the Panthers, but then returned home to lose to the New York Rangers. The Blue Jackets are coming off a 7-3 win at Florida, but I don't like their chances of taking two points away from this game in Tampa. The Lightning have won nine of their last 10 when playing on one day's rest, while Columbus is just 3-10 in their last 13 such situations. Take TB. GL, Jesse Schule

10-04-17 | Flames v. Oilers -150 | Top | 0-3 | Win | 100 | 22 h 20 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers won all four meetings versus the Flames last season, out-scoring their Provincial rivals 21-11 in those games. These teams played twice in the pre-season, and Edmonton won both of those games as well. Edmonton finished last season with 104 points, good enough for second place in the Pacific Division. Team Captain Connor McDavid led the league in scoring, and at 20 years old, he's expected to be even better this season. One key to the Oilers success has been a Top 5 power play unit, and this is something that should prove to be a huge advantage early in the season. The league often gives officials a mandate to crack down on minor infractions early in the season, and the result is an increase in the overall number of penalties called. The Oilers have won 12 of their last 15 home games, and they should be all fired up for their home opener versus Calgary. Take EDM. GL, Jesse Schule
06-11-17 | Penguins v. Predators -141 | Top | 2-0 | Loss | -141 | 8 h 23 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Nashville Predators. The home team has won all five games in the Stanley Cup Finals so far, and I like the Predators chance of forcing a Game 7. Pekka Rinne was pulled after the first period of Game 5, but he's been dominant on home ice all season long. He held the Penguins to just two goals on 52 shots in two home games in this series, and he was 21-6 with a 2.23 GAA at home during the regular season. "He's the same every day," said Nashville's head coach Peter Laviolette. "He works hard every day. His demeanor seems the same to me. We've got to do a better job in front of him. I know there's things we can do that can support our goaltender better." Given that he's won nine of 10 home starts in these playoffs, I expect him to respond here in tonight's do or die Game 6. This is a 10* play on the Nashville Predators. Nashville had outplayed the Penguins for the majority of the first two games, but they were down 2-0 in the series heading into Game 3. They seized all the momentum in the series by blowing out the Penguins on home ice in Game 3. Here is what I said prior to the game: "Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals was one of the strangest hockey games we've seen in a while. The Predators played well, and looked like they had jumped out to an early 1-0 lead. The goal was overturned after a lengthy video review, despite what appeared to be inconclusive evidence. Then a controversial 5-3 power play led to the game's opening goal, and after a lucky bounce in the final 16 seconds of the first period, the Penguins were up 3-0. Pekka Rinne wasn't nearly as sharp as expected in Game 1, but perhaps a 37 minute stretch without facing a single shot was enough to throw him off his game. The Predators simply have to come into Game 2 focused on playing their game, trusting it will yield a different result." I expect Nashville to come out like gangbusters again here in Game 4, and with Rinne coming off a huge game, it's Murray who might be struggling with his confidence.

This is a 10* play on the Nashville Predators. Nashville owned the Ducks in Game 3, remaining unbeaten at home in these playoffs. Pekka Rinne is now 10-0 in his last 10 post-season starts at Bridgestone Arena. I expect more of the same here in Game 4. Here is what I said before Game 3: "The Preds jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in Game 2, but once again Anaheim proved it could come from behind on home ice. The Ducks were able to erase a 3-0 deficit with just over three minutes remaining in Game 5 of their second round series versus Edmonton. They went on to win that game by a score of 4-3 in overtime at the Duck Pond, only to go to Edmonton and lose 7-1 in Game 6. The Predators are in a good spot, heading home with a split. They are sill undefeated at home in the post-season, and Rinne is 5-0 with a 1.20 GAA in those games. The Ducks aren't winning many games because of Jon Gibson. He's given up 14 goals in five starts n he road in the playoffs, and he had a losing record on the road during the regular season. He gave up four goals on 18 shots, losing his only start at Nashville this season."

This is a 10* play on the Anaheim Ducks. The Predators won Game 1 on the road at Anaheim, just as they did in their previous two series versus Chicago and St. Louis. They swept the Blackhawks, but they lost two of three games on the road in the series versus the Blues. The Ducks will have to treat this as a must win game, while the Predators could suffer a bit of a let down, and really wouldn't be too upset to go back home with a split. Nashville was brutal on the road during the regular season, while the Ducks owned one of the best home records in the Western Conference (33-10-3). The Ducks won both their home games against Nashville during the regular season, and the home team is 5-2 in the last seven meetings between these two teams. The Ducks have proven that they can rise to the challenge, coming back from down 0-2 versus the Oilers, and winning Game 7 of that series at home after getting blown out in Game 6 in Edmonton. Expect the Ducks to be "Flying" tonight. Take ANA. GL, Jesse Schule

This is a 10* play on EDM@ANA to go OVER the total. After giving up three goals in three minutes and losing by a score of 4-3 in overtime in Game 5, the Oilers blew the doors off in a 7-1 win in Game 6. John Gibson gave up three goals on just six shots, getting pulled just eight minutes into the first period of that game. Five of the six games in this series have gone over the total, and another high scoring game seems likely here in Game 7. The over is 7-3-1 in Edmonton's last 11 road games, and they've scored a whopping 16 goals in their last three games. While we normally expect a conservative approach in an elimination game, I don't think either of these two teams wants to sit back and let the other be the aggressor. Leon Draisaitl scored three goals and two assists in Game 6, and he has nine points in the last four games of this series. Ryan Getzlaf was held off the score sheet in Game 6, but he tallied 10 points in the first five games of this series. Buckle up, Game 7 should be a real barn burner. Take OVER. This is a 10* play on the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Pens took a commanding 3-1 series lead by winning Game 4 of this series on home ice, but Washington has battled back with a win in Game 5 at home, forcing a Game 6 back in Pittsburgh. I had the Penguins in Game 4, and here is what I said prior to the game: "The Capitals dominated the Penguins in Pittsburgh in Game 3, but still they needed overtime to sneak away with a 3-2 win. Braden Holtby hasn't played well in these playoffs, but he looked confident in his last start. His confidence must have taken a big hit when he allowed a pair of late goals, allowing the Penguins to tie the game and force the extra period. He was only asked to make one save in overtime, and I think he comes into Game 4 just as fragile as he was after playing poorly in the first two games in Washington." Holtby has the lowest save percentage of any of the remaining goaltenders in these playoffs. I'll take the Penguins at home with Crosby back in the lineup. Take PIT. GL, Jesse Schule

This is a 10* play on the Anaheim Ducks. The Oilers have lost all the momentum in this series after back to back home losses, and now they head to Anaheim for a pivotal Game 5. Ryan Getzlaf took over the game in Edmonton on Wednesday night, scoring a pair of goals and adding a couple of assists. Edmonton fans are focused on the fact that three of the Ducks four goals were controversial, but the reality is that the Oilers were sloppy defensively, failing to get the puck out of the defensive zone. Corey Perry has been one of the league's most prolific scorers over the past decade, but prior to Game 4 he had been a non factor. He was a +3 in the last game, and appears to be re-energized after being bumped up to the first line. The home team has yet to win a game in this series, but the Ducks home record over the last several seasons suggest that it's only a matter of time before home ice advantage comes into play. Edmonton had lost nine of 11 visits to the Duck Pond before this series started, and Anaheim is 44-21 in it's last 65 home games. Take ANA. GL, Jesse Schule

I took the under in Game 3, and this is what I had to say prior to the game: "The Nashville Predators return home with their second round series versus St. Louis deadlocked at 1-1. The Blues won Game 2 by a score of 3-2, and most of the scoring in that game came in the third period. Goals could be hard to come by here in Nashville, as Pekka Rinne leads all goaltenders with a 1.44 GAA and a .949 save percentage in the playoffs. Only one of Nashville's six playoff games has seen more than five goals, and seven of the last 10 meetings in this series has failed to go over the total. Over the years the Blues have a history of playing low scoring games at Bridgestone Arena. The under is 29-7-6 in the last 42 meetings in Nashville. The Predators haven't gone over the total in any of their last five home games. We should see both goaltenders shine here in today's matinee in the Music City." They come into Game 4 on home ice with a 2-1 series lead, and I like their chances of taking a commanding 3-1 lead. This is a 10* play on OTT@NYR to go under the total. The Senators won in dramatic fashion in Game 2 in Ottawa, and while the two teams scored a combined 11 goals in that game, they scored just once in the final two periods. Here is what I said before the series started: "The Senators aren't getting a lot of respect here in the post-season, as most people are picking the Rangers to win this second round series. It's tough to bet against Ottawa though, especially considering the play of goaltender Craig Anderson. He had the second best save percentage in the NHL this season, and he's been dominating here in the playoffs. Defenseman Erik Karlsson has also been on top of his game for the Senators, who ranked 22nd in the league in scoring during the regular season. The Sens aren't a flashy team, and they don't have a lot of star power up front. They got this far with solid goaltending and a rock solid blue line. They play a tough, gritty style that just might be effective here against the Rangers. New York had little trouble scoring during the regular season, but they scored just 11 goals on Carey Price in six games in their first round series versus Montreal. The Habs carried the play for most of the series, but struggled to score on Henrik Lundqvist. History suggests that goals will be hard to come by here, as eight of the last 10 meetings between the two teams has gone under the total. This is a 10* play on the Anaheim Mighty Ducks. The Ducks swept the Calgary Flames in the first round, and now they face another Alberta team in the Western Conference semifinals. Anaheim found a way to win even without key defensemen Hampus Lindholm, Cam Fowler and Sami Vatanen, but all could be in the lineup for Game 1. With Chicago and San Jose going out in the first round, the Ducks are now the favorites to win the West. They will have home ice throughout the Conference Semis and Conference Finals, and that's a big deal for a team with a home record of 31-8-2. They also have a history of beating the Oilers at home, winning nine of their last 11 home games in this series. Veterans Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf each have Stanley Cup rings, and they know what it takes to win in the post-season. Kevin Bieksa and Ryan Kesler came close to getting rings with the Canucks in 2010, and they will be hungry here this time around. Edmonton is loaded with youth and talent, but it's going to be tough to keep the momentum going against an experienced team like the Ducks. Take ANA. GL, Jesse Schule

This is a 10* play on MTL@NYR to go UNDER the total. The Habs won Game 3 of this series by a score of 3-1, and I bet the under in that game. Here is what I said before the opening faceoff: "The Habs couldn't beat Henrik Lundqvist in Game 1, losing by a score of 2-0. They were 15 seconds away from losing Game 2 by a score of 3-2, but tied the game and went on to win 4-3 in overtime. Carey Price hasn't been at his best so far in this series, but I am still expecting him to steal a game or two for Montreal. These two teams have gone over the total just once in the last 11 meetings at Madison Square Garden. Montreal has played low scoring games on the road, going over the total just three times in their last 19 games away from the Bell Center. The under is 14-4-6 in the last 24 meetings between the two teams" Montreal held the Rangers to just 21 shots on goal, and Carey Price was just two minutes away from a shutout. The Habs lost Game 4 by a score of 2-1, and both of New York's goals came on terrible blunders from Montreal defensemen. The goaltending has been outstanding in this series so far, and it would appear that another low scoring battle is inevitable here in Game 6 at Madison Square Gardens. Take UNDER. 04-21-17 | Maple Leafs v. Capitals -1.5 | Top | 1-2 | Loss | -100 | 27 h 51 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Washington Capitals -1.5. The Capitals were supposed to beat the Leafs in 4-5 games, but they head back to Washington with the series tied 2-2. Game 5 is an absolute "must win" for Washington, a team that is trying to shake it's reputation as a playoff bust. The Caps have come out like gangbusters in each of the last two games, building big early leads. The Leafs were able to come from behind to win Game 3 in overtime, but they couldn't come back in Game 4. In fact if it wasn't for a bad call on a disallowed goal, the last game wouldn't have been close. Washington ranked 3rd in the league in scoring, and they had the 3rd best power play in the league during the regular season. They allowed fewer goals than any other team in the league, and Braden Holtby ranked second in the NHL in GAA during the regular season, and third in save percentage. This is a game that the Capitals simply can't afford to lose. I expect to see them start fast as they did in Games 3 and 4, but this time I don't think the Leafs will be able to come back. Take WAS. 04-20-17 | Sharks +113 v. Oilers | Top | 3-4 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 31 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the San Jose Sharks. I have the Sharks winning this first round series versus Edmonton, and here is what I said before the series started: "The Edmonton Oilers finished second in the Pacific Division, just four points ahead of San Jose. They will host the Sharks in the first round of the playoffs, and Game 1 goes Wednesday night at Rexall Place. Both these teams play an exciting brand of hockey, and I expect to see plenty of scoring in the series opener. The over was 3-0-2 in five meetings in the season series, and the two teams combined to score 13 goals in two games in Edmonton. The Oilers captain Connor McDavid led the NHL in scoring with 100 points this season, and the Sharks Brett Burns was the league's top scoring defenseman. The Sharks went all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals last season, and they opened the post-season with a 4-3 win over the Kings. I expect a similar score here in Game 1 in Edmonton. The Oilers are young, fast and loaded with talent, but the Sharks have experienced veterans that have been here before." The Sharks took Game 1 here in Edmonton, and now they return for a pivotal Game 5 with the series tied 2-2. While I expect Edmonton to respond after an embarrassing loss, I also believe that their inferior defensive play has been exposed. I'll take experience over youth here in this one. Take SJS. 04-19-17 | Capitals -145 v. Maple Leafs | Top | 5-4 | Win | 100 | 5 h 21 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Washington Capitals. The Capitals jumped all over the Leafs in Game 3 at Toronto, scoring twice in the first five minutes to open up a 2-0 lead. Toronto got one back late in the first period, but the Caps extended their lead to 3-1 early in the second. Toronto was fortunate to come back and tie the game, and went on to win it in overtime. Every game in this series has gone to overtime, despite the fact that the Caps were an enormous favorite, expected to win in 4-5 games. I expect to see them start fast as they did in Game 3, but this time I don't think the Leafs will be able to come back. Take WAS. This is a 10* play on CHI@NAS to go UNDER the total. The Chicago Blackhawks are on the ropes, heading to the Music City down 0-2 to the Nashville Predators. They haven't scored a goal in the first two games of this series, as Pekka Rinne is coming off back to back shutouts. He's only allowed 14 goals in his last 11 starts, and he's allowed just eight goals in his last six starts in Nashville. The under is 3-0-1 in Predators last 4 Conference Quarterfinals games. Five of the last six games in Nashville have gone under the total. Only one of the Predators last 11 games overall has gone over the total. Chicago has lost six straight overall, and a loss here in Game 3 would be a death sentence for the Hawks. It's a "do or die" situation for the visitors, and in high stakes games like these, scoring chances are normally hard to come by. Take UNDER. GL, Jesse Schule
04-17-17 | Capitals v. Maple Leafs UNDER 5.5 | Top | 3-4 | Loss | -130 | 8 h 25 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on TOR@WAS to go UNDER the total. The Leafs head back to Toronto with a split in their first round series versus the Washington Capitals. Toronto is a huge underdog in this series, but so far it's been the Leafs that have had Washington on the ropes. Frederik Anderson has been sharp between the pipes, and he stopped 47-of-50 shots in a 4-3 OT win in Game 2. Washington's starting netminder Braden Holtby ranked second in the NHL in GAA during the regular season, and third in save percentage. While we've seen some high scoring games in recent meetings between these two teams, tonight's game is a high stakes affair. The team that loses this pivotal Game 3 will face a real uphill battle, so we can expect both teams to tighten up defensively. The under is 31-15-5 in Capitals last 51 Conference Quarterfinals games. The Leafs have failed to reach the total in four of their last five home games. Take UNDER. GL, Jesse Schule
04-17-17 | Senators v. Bruins UNDER 5 | Top | 4-3 | Loss | -120 | 8 h 25 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on OTT@BOS to go UNDER the total. The Boston Bruins return home with this first round series versus Ottawa tied 1-1. Game 3 will be pivotal, and I expect to see both teams clamp down on defense. Craig Anderson has been solid in goal for the Senators, and he had the second best save percentage in the league during the regular season. The Bruins are strong defensively, and they boast the NHL's top penalty killing unit. Boston has failed to reach the total in five of their last six home games, and the under is 12-3-1 in Bruins last 16 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. The Sens have had success against the Bruins, winning seven of the last eight in this series. Ottawa has gone under in five of it's last six games when coming off a win. Take UNDER. This is a 10* play on the Anaheim Ducks. It was just over a week ago that the Ducks played Calgary in a high stakes game with both teams battling for playoff position. I had Anaheim in that game, and they went on to win 3-1. It was their 27th consecutive home win over the Flames. Here is what I said before the game: "The Ducks and the Flames could potentially meet in the first round of the playoffs, but given the history, Calgary is probably hoping for another opponent in the first round. The Ducks are 9-1 in the last 10 meetings between the two teams, and Calgary has lost 26 straight at The Duck Pond. The Ducks beat the Flames in Calgary on Sunday, and they can move into second place in the Western Conference with a win at home tonight. The Ducks have the best home record in the West, and they are 6-0-1 in their last seven home games. The Flames have dropped nine of their last 11 when playing the second game in a home and home series." The Ducks have a ton of playoff experience, and there's no reason to expect an upset here in Anaheim in the first round. Take ANA. GL, Jesse Schule
