Astros vs Athletics Free Pick June 19, 2017

All of a sudden the Astros have dropped five of their last seven games. They are still a comfortable 11 games clear of second place Texas in the AL West, and their 46-24 record is the best in the majors. I’ll take Houston as a small favorite on the road at Oakland tonight.

Daniel Gossett will toe the slab for the A’s, and he makes just his second start in the majors. He was torched for seven runs on six hits over 3 1/3 innings in an 11-6 loss at Miami in his debut.

The Astros hand the ball to Brad Peacock, who has mostly worked out of the bullpen this season. This will be his sixth game as a starter, and he comes in with a 3-1 record and a solid 3.00 ERA. He doesn’t have a great record against the A’s, but whoever was hitting him in the past must have left town. Oakland’s current lineup has hit just .167 over a combined 60 at bats against the right-hander.

Houston has dominated this series, winning nine of the last 10 overall, and five straight in Oakland.

Take HOU.
