Max Scherzer is the hottest pitcher in the major leagues, and he’ll start at home tonight opposite veteran knuckleballer R.A. Dickey and the Braves.
Scherzer (10-5, 1.94 ERA) tossed seven scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out a dozen in a 7-2 win over St. Louis his last time out. It was the 7th game in eight starts that Scherzer struck out double-digits.
Dickey (6-5, 4.44 ERA) was hammered for eight runs on eight hits in just five innings in a loss to Washington just a few weeks ago. He was lit up by the Nats in a home loss prior to that, with a record of 0-2 and a 7.79 ERA against Washington this season.
Ryan Zimmerman has really owned Dickey, batting .359 with four home runs and eight RBIs over 39 at bats lifetime.
