Giants vs. Eagles Betting Preview 12/22/16 – Thursday Night Football

Betting Preview

The Giants control their own destiny in their march towards the playoffs. After having their six game winning streak snapped in a loss to Pittsburgh, they have rebounded and won their last two games.

Their defense was outstanding in their 10-7 win over Dallas two weeks ago and again when they shut down the Lions 17-6 last week. Their biggest concern is their struggling offense which scored a total of 41 points in their last three games and is ranked 27th in the league.

Quarterback Eli Manning has played well and has thrown for over 3400 yards and 25 touchdowns. In his last five games where the Giants won four of them, he has thrown 10 touchdowns and three interceptions but was held under 200 yards passing in three of the games. The Giants main problem on offense is their running game which is ranked 30th in the league while the team only scores an average of 19.4 points a game.

The Eagles’ season has turned into a disaster as they have lost five straight games and seven of their last eight overall. During that stretch, their offense hasn’t scored more than 24 points in seven of the games and their defense has given up at least 27 points in six of them.

Quarterback Carson Wentz threw no touchdown passes last week for the fourth time this year. Over the last eight games he has just five touchdown passes and has thrown 10 of his total of 13 interceptions this season.

The oddsmakers have made the Giants a 2.5 point favorite and set the total at 41.5. According to Covers.com Consensus Analysis a huge 72% of the public have no confidence in the Eagles and are backing the Giants while 62% believe the total is too low and are behind the over.

The Eagles have won five of the last seven meetings between these teams and seven of the last 10 overall.
