Indianapolis Colts 2022 Betting Odds

Carson Wentz went from hero to zero in Indianapolis last season. The Colts lost both games in the season series versus the Titans, and Wentz completed just 52 percent of his passes and threw a pair of INTs against the division rival. His performance in those games factored in the Colts’ decision to let him go in the off-season, and pick up 2016 MVP Matt Ryan.

Perfect Situation for Matt Ryan

While Matt Ryan is 37 years old, six years removed from his MVP season, his numbers in 2018 were comparable to his MVP campaign two years prior. His declining numbers since then can be explained by a lack of surrounding talent on a poor team in Atlanta.

Ryan steps into a perfect situation in Indianapolis, playing behind one of the league’s top offensive lines, and handing off to the reigning rushing champion. Jonathan Taylor ranked first in the NFL in rushing yards, and rushing TDs last season, and at the age of 23 he’s likely only going to be better in 2022.

Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers are among the favorites to win the MVP in 2022, and both are older than Matt Ryan.

Weak AFC South

The AFC South has been a two horse race in recent seasons, and with the Titans losing a ton of talent this off-season that presents an opportunity for the Colts to run away with the division.

Derrick Henry is a beast, but the Titans have been running him into the ground the last several years. At the age of 28, coming off an injury plagued season where he only played eight games, he might be on the downside of his career.

The Titans offensive line is in shambles, and Ryan Tannehill seems to be primed to come crashing down to earth after playing over his head the last two years.

Soft Schedule

The Colts have one of the softest schedules of any team in 2022, facing the Texas and Jaguars twice, as well as home games against Washington, Philly and Pittsburgh.

When it’s all said and done, the two head to head meetings with Tennessee will likely decide the AFC South.

Projected record: 11-6 Overall
