Lions vs. Cowboys Betting Preview 12/26/16 – Monday Night Football Odds
Betting Preview
If Detroit hopes to win their first division title in 23 years, a victory in Dallas would get them one step closer. They play the Packers the final game of the season and if Green Bay wins their game this week against Minnesota the title would come down to that final game even if the Lions beat Dallas. The Packers have already beaten Detroit and would claim the title because of the tie breaker in that final game should they win.
Detroit had their five game winning streak broken last week by the Giants and their offense has been struggling as they have scored 20 points or less in three of their last four games. Their defense has been exceptional holding seven of their last eight opponents below 20 points scoring which resulted in six wins.
The Cowboys bounced back with a win against the Bucs after their 11 game winning streak was snapped by the Giants two weeks ago. Rookie quarterback Dak Prescott bounced back as well passing for 279 yards after not reaching 200 yards passing in 3 straight games prior to last week.
Dallas offense scored 26 points in the win over the Bucs after being held below 20 points in their two previous games. They have the league’s best rusher with rookie running back Ezekiel Elliot while being ranked second in the league averaging over 154 yards rushing a game and are 4th in points scored with 26.1 points a game.
The oddsmakers have made Dallas a seven point favorite and set the total at 44. According to Covers.com Consensus Analysis 60% of the public like the Lions and the points and are backing Detroit while a whopping 73% think the offenses will control the game and are behind the over. The total has gone over in seven of the last 10 meetings between these teams.
