Padres vs Brewers Free Pick June 16, 2017

The Padres are brutal on the road, and they rank dead last in the majors in runs scored, as well as team batting average. The Brewers are sitting in first place in the NL Central, and they look good as a small favorite at home in Game 1 versus San Diego.

Junior Guerra will toe the slab for Milwaukee, and he’s pitched well while going 1-1 with a 2.45 ERA in five starts. The right-hander allowed three runs on five hits over six innings in a 3-2 loss at Arizona his last time out. He had allowed a maximum of two runs in each of his previous four starts.

The Padres hand the ball to rookie right-hander Miguel Diaz, who makes just his second big league start. The 22 year old has worked mostly out of the bullpen, allowing 21 runs on 25 hits over 26 innings in 22 appearances. He gave up a hit and walked three through two innings of relief in a loss to Kansas City his last time out. The Padres have lost the last 10 games that Diaz has appeared in.

The Brewers are 8-2 in Guerra’s last 10 starts versus a team with a losing record, while the Padres have lost six of their last seven road games against teams above .500.
