Philadelphia Eagles 2022 Betting Odds

The Eagles finished second in the NFC East last year with a record of 9-8, and it seems like asking them to at least match last season’s record isn’t asking much. They are a young team that should benefit from the experience gained last year. Jalen Hurts and Devonta Smith are still just 23 years old, with their best years ahead of them.

They picked up an experienced wide receiver when they traded for AJ Brown, and they used the draft to add pieces on defense.

Soft Schedule

There’s a reason why some people refer to this division as the “NFL Least”, and playing in the weakest division in the league comes with benefits. Playing the Giants and Commanders twice a year should put them in a position to pick up a few wins against inferior opposition.

The Eagles will have one of the softest schedules of any team in the league. In fact only two teams are projected to have an easier schedule, and both of those teams are in their division. While the Cowboys are still the favorites, they don’t look as strong as they have in previous seasons.

Top Ranked Offensive Line

The success of a young quarterback is often determined by the play of the offensive line, and the Eagles are in good shape heading into 2022. In fact Pro Football Focus ranks them first overall with arguably the best tackle duo in the NFL. Jordan Mailata has the third highest ranking in the NFL at left tackle, and if veterans Lane Johnson and Jason Kelce can stay healthy this unit will be a force to be reckoned with.

Jalen Hurts had a solid second season throwing for 3,144 yards, 16 TDs and nine INTs, but he’ll have a chance to smash those numbers playing behind the league’s top ranked offensive line in the upcoming season.

Strong Finish in 2021

This team comes into 2022 with momentum on their side, after a strong finish to the 2021 season. After going 3-6 in their first nine games last year, they closed the season winning six of their final eight games. Last year they faced tough opponents early on, facing Dallas, San Francisco, Tampa Bay and Kansas City all in the first six weeks. This year they catch a break, facing teams that missed the playoffs in each of their first four games (Minnesota, Detroit, Jacksonville and Washington).

Projected record: 10-7 overall
