02-21-16 | Roan Carneiro v. Derek Brunson UNDER 2.5 | 0-1 | Win | 100 | 30 h 0 m | Show
*8* play on UNDER 2.5 rounds between Roan Carneiro and Derek Brunson. The 37 year old journeyman fighter Roan Carneiro has worked his way back into the UFC after a mostly unsuccessful start to his career in 2007-2008. He will face 32 year old Derek Brunson in Fight Night 83, and I think this fight will be short and sweet. Here are my keys to the fight: 1. Brunson's Power - The younger Brunson has a record of 14-3, six of his wins have come by way of knockout. His last two fights were first round knockout victories. 2. Carneiro's Chin - The older Carneiro has a record of 20-9, and six of his nine losses have come by either knockout or submission. He appears to be over-matched here in this bout versus Brunson. 3. X-Factor - We expect this fight to be a stand up war, as it's unlikely Carneiro will be able to get Brunson on the ground. Selection: This is a play on Carneiro vs. Brunson to go UNDER 2.5 rounds (8*)
02-21-16 | Shane Campbell v. James Krause -140 | 0-3 | Win | 100 | 28 h 58 m | Show
*8* play on James Krause. James "The James" Krause will take on Shane "Shaolin" Campbell at UFC Fight Night 83 at the Consol Energy Center Sunday night. Campbell has just 15 fights under his belt compared to Krause's 29, and I think we're getting a reasonable price on the more experienced favorite. Here are my keys to the fight: 1. Reach Advantage - Krause is 6'2" compared to Campbell's 6'0", and those two inches in reach and height could prove to be very valuable in what I expect to turn into a stand up war as Campbell with be cautious not to go to ground. 2. Strike Frequency And Defense - Campbell is averaging 3.47 significant strikes per minute but Krause has a superior 4.47 strike per minute average. We should also take into account that Krause is highly skilled on the defensive end with a 64% strike defense. 3. X-Factor - Krause is very capable on the canvas and 14 of his 27 wins has come by submission while it's widely recognized that Campbell has a weak grappling game. Selection: This is a play on James Krause (8*) |
