This looks like a great spot to back the Philadelphia Phillies to bounce back from a disappointing 7-4 loss to Miami in the opener of this four-game series last night. 

The Phillies are 14-1 SU and 11-4 against the runline as favorites off a loss, and they have a huge advantage on the mound in this game with left-hander Cristopher Sanchez (5-3, 2.67 ERA) going up against rookie right-hander Kyle Tyler who gave up two runs in four innings in his MLB debut on June 23.

5* NL CENTRAL TOTAL OF THE MONTH MAX BET

The Cincinnati Reds are coming off a 6-1 loss to Pittsburgh and tonight they'll run into Cardinals right-hander Miles Mikolas who has compiled a 2.23 ERA in his last three starts.

The Cards have had trouble producing runs home at Busch Stadium and average only 3.7 runs per nine innings in their home games.

MIKE'S 4* MLB RUNLINE PLAY OF THE DAY

The Kansas City Royals are 7-1 SU and 6-2 against the runline as home favorites between -150 and -275.

Royals' starter Brady Singer has a 5.40 ERA in his last three starts, but that high ERA can be attributed to one poor start and he's been solid his last two outings. Additionally, Singer is 4-2 with a 3.04 ERA, a 1.01 WHIP and a 6-2 team record in his home starts. 

4* PLAY ON THE ROYALS -1.5. 

MIKE'S 4* MLB TOP PLAY OF THE DAY

This looks like a good spot to back the Baltimore Orioles to bounce back from a 3-2 loss to Cleveland last night.

Sure, the Guardians have a 16-5 record against left-handed starters, but Orioles southpaw Cole Irvin (6-3, 3.45 ERA) has a solid 2.83 ERA in his home starts, and it's about time for the Orioles to get back in the win column following four setbacks.

On the flip side, Cleveland is overvalued after six straight wins. 

4* PLAY ON THE ORIOLES. 

MIKE'S 4* GUARDIANS/ORIOLES MLB TOP PLAY

I like the price we get on the Cleveland Guardians against a Baltimore team that will send rookie left-hander Cade Povich to the mound. Povich has only three career starts under his belt, and the Guardians have been killing left-handers all season, and they are 15-5 when facing a left-handed starter. 

Additionally, the Guardians are coming in hot off five consecutive wins, while the Orioles are coming off three losses in Houston. 

4* PLAY ON THE GUARDIANS. 

5* NL  GAME OF THE WEEK MAX BET

The San Diego Padres are going for the sweep of this four-game series. Milwaukee right-hander Tobias Myers is 3-0 with a 0.44 ERA in his last three starts, but he's still inexperienced, and the Padres' batters are in the zone. 

Padres right-hander Michael King has been almost equally hot as Myers with a 1-0 record, a 1.84 ERA, and an impressive 23 strikeouts against six walks through 14 2/3 frames in his last three starts. King posted a sub-2.75 ERA in both 2022 and 2023, and while mostly as a reliever, he's proven himself over several seasons. 

5* PLAY ON THE PADRES. 

5* NL RUNLINE OF THE WEEK MAX BET

This looks like a fantastic spot to back the Philadelphia Phillies to bounce back from back-to-back losses. They are 14-1 as favorites off a loss and I expect a strong outing from Zach Wheeler (8-4, 2.84 ERA) after surrendering eight runs in his last start. 

The price on the moneyline is not all that attractive, but I like the Phillies in a blowout anyway.

We saw 11 runs in the opener of this three-game set Friday night, but tonight's pitching matchup promises a much lower-scoring affair. Cardinals right-hander Miles Mikolas has a 2.22 ERA in eight career games (four starts) against the Giants, and SF's Jordan Hicks is coming off five scoreless innings and has a 2.82 ERA for the season. 

4* PLAY ON THE UNDER. 

5* MLB INTERLEAGUE RUNLINE OF THE WEEK MAX BET

The Chicago Cubs are perfect 7-0 in left-hander Shota Imanga's home starts, with Imanga sporting a 1.31 ERA to go with a super solid 6.3 K vs. 0.3 BB per game average. 

The Mets hand the ball to Jose Quintana, who has a 6.68 ERA and a 1.57 WHIP in his road starts. 

The moneyline is not a bad bet, but I think the runline is offering way better value. 

5* PLAY ON THE CUBS -1.5. 

5* NL WEST TOTAL OF THE MONTH MAX BET

This is a big number, but not big enough IMO when we look at the previous games in the series and tonight's pitching matchup. The first three games of the series all saw 13 runs or more, and both Gavin Stone (7-2, 3.01 ERA) or Ty Blach (3-4, 5.74 ERA) can easily get lit up as the wind will be blowing out at tricky Coors Field.

Both teams' bats have been quiet, with the Houston Astros averaging only 3.9 runs per nine innings over their last five games and the Chicago White Sox 2.9 R/9 over their last five games. Add two red hot pitchers to the mix, and we have a solid recipe for an under.

5* NL TOTAL OF THE WEEK MAX BET

The Philadelphia Phillies put a 9-2 beating on the Padres last night, but I expect a lower-scoring contest when they battle it out again Tuesday night. Padres right-hander Michael King is coming in hot off with just four runs allowed through his last three starts, and he recorded 12 Ks over five innings against Oakland in his last start.

The Phillies counter with Aaron Nola who was tagged with eight runs in 3 2/3 innings at Fenway Park in his last start, but I have no doubt he'll bounce back with a strong outing.

5* MLB INTERLEAGUE RUNLINE OF THE WEEK MAX BET

This looks like a fantastic spot to back the Los Angeles Dodgers to bounce back from a 7-2 loss to KC. They are 18-8 SU and 17-9 against the runline as favorites of -200 or longer for the season and Royals' right-hander Brady Singer gave up seven runs (six earned) in his last start. 

5* PLAY ON THE DODGERS -1.5.

We'll see two quality pitchers on the mound at Oriole Park on Sunday, but I think the total is set too low not to take a stab at. The first two games of the series also featured solid starting pitchers but still saw eight runs each, and both teams have averaged a healthy 5.2 runs per nine innings on the season.

The Tampa Bay Rays' bats have been cold for some time now, as they've been held to fewer than four runs in seven of their last eight games.

Today, they'll face Atlanta right-hander Charlie Morton, a much better pitcher than his 6.48 ERA over his last three starts would suggest. Morton has an ERA of 4.12 for the season, but his xFIP of 3.83 tells me that positive regression is likely for him. 

The Rays hand the ball to Ryan Pepiot, who has a 1.50 ERA in his road starts, and even though he has a 4.58 ERA in his last three starts overall, his 24/1 K/BB ratio through those games is very impressive, and I expect a solid outing from him today.

MIKE'S 4* PHILLIES/RED SOX MONEYLINE TOP PLAY OF THE DAY

I like the price we get on the Phillies to bounce back and win the rubber match of this series after suffering an 8-6 loss to Boston on Wednesday. 

The Phillies are 11-2 in right-hander Aaron Nola's (8-2, 2.77 ERA) starts this season, and Nola is coming in hot off seven scoreless innings against the Brewers. 

The Red Sox hand the ball to right-hander Tanner Houck (6-5, 1.91 ERA), who's also having a great season. However, the Red Sox have averaged only 3.6 runs per nine innings over their last five games, while the Phillies have a 4,9 R/9 average over their last five games.

Additionally, the Phillies have a better bullpen.

5* MLB INTERLEAGUE TOTAL OF THE WEEK MAX BET

The Washington Nationals have scored 28 runs over a five-game winning streak and Detroit right-hander Casey Mize has a 5.27 ERA over his last three starts. 

Washington left-hander Patrick Corbin has posted an ERA of 5.71 in his last three starts and a 6.15 ERA for the season. The Tigers have scored 28 runs over their last four games, and they have a 7.4 R/9 average against left-handers through their last five games. 

5* PLAY ON THE OVER. 

MIKE'S 4* ROCKIES/TWINS MLB TOTAL PLAY OF THE DAY

The Twins plan to call up right-hander Louie Varland (0-4, 9.18 ERA) from Triple-A St. Paul. This presents a good opportunity for the Colorado Rockies to rejuvenate their offense after scoring only one run over their last two games.

Meanwhile, the Twins have scored 16 runs in their last two games and are likely unfazed by Rockies right-hander Cal Quantrill (5-4, 3.58 ERA).

4* PLAY ON THE OVER. 

5* NL EAST GAME OF THE YEAR MAX BET

The Miami Marlins are 1-6 in their last seven games and left-hander Jesus Luzardo was smacked around by Tampa Bay in his last outing when he allowed all nine runs in a 9-5 loss. The Mets have averaged a stunning 8.8 runs per nine innings against left-handers over their last 10 games. 

The Mets hand the ball to Tylor Megill who has posted an ERA of 0.82 over 11 innings at Citi Field in 2024. 

5* PLAY ON THE METS. 

MIKE'S 4* ASTROS/GIANTS MLB TOP PLAY OF THE DAY

Both teams will be looking to bounce back from losses, as the Houston Astros are coming off a 9-7 setback to the Angels in LA, while the San Francisco Giants took a 7-2 beating by the Rangers in Texas on Sunday. 

I like the price we get on the Astros, who have been averaging 5.8 runs per nine innings against left-handers in their last 10 games. Tonight, they'll get a look at Giants left-hander Kyle Harrison, who is 0-2 with a 6.19 ERA in his last three starts. 

The Astros counter with right-hander Spencer Arrighetti, who is coming in hot with a 2.57 ERA in his last three starts. The Giants have averaged only 3 R/9 against right-handers over their last 10 games.

Since the start of last season, the Orioles are 15-6 as a road favorite of -125 to -175.

The Orioles are 14-6 against division opponents in 2024. 

 Baltimore right-hander Grayson Rodriguez has a record of 2-0 with an ERA of 1.86 and 17 strikeouts in three starts versus the Rays in his career. 

Rays righty Zack Littell (2-3, 3.16 ERA) gave up three runs on 11 hits over six innings against Baltimore a week ago. I expect them to hit him even harder today.

The Houston Astros have a 2-9 record in Hunter Brown's 11 starts on the season, but Brown has been heating up and has allowed only six runs on 11 hits with 19 Ks over 18 innings for an ERA of 3.00 in his last three starts. He held the Angels to a pair of runs on two hits over six innings last month. 

The Angels counter with left-hander Tyler Anderson (5-5, 2.37 ERA), who has an impressive ERA, but the batters and the bullpen have often let him down. Anderson has an ERA of 6.17 vs. the Astros in his career.

4* PLAY ON THE ASTROS.

The Chicago White Sox are 0-14 in their last 14 games after suffering a 14-2 beating by the hands of the Boston Red Sox last night.  

Tonight the White Sox hand the ball to left-hander Garrett Crochet (5-5, 3.49 ERA, who admittedly has been solid lately, but the Red Sox have been averaging a decent 4.7 runs per nine innings against southpaws through their last five games.

The Red Sox will hand the ball to Cooper Criswell (3-2, 3.92 ERA) who has held opponents to two runs or fewer in seven of nine starts. 

Additionally, the White Sox have one of the worst bullpens in baseball while Boston has a top 10 bullpen.

The Chicago White Sox are coming into this four-game series on a 12-game slide and they've won just one of their last 16 games. The White Sox are 1-5 SU and against the RL as home underdogs of +180 or longer, and they're in for a tough challenge today against Boston and right-hander Tanner Houck (5-5, 1.85 ERA) who is coming in scorching hot with just two runs allowed over 20 innings in his last three starts.

5* AL GAME OF THE WEEK MAX BET

This looks like a great spot to back the Texas Rangers to pick up a win and deny the Detroit Tigers the opportunity to sweep this three-game series.

Detroit right-hander Kenta Maeda is 2-2 with a 6.25 ERA in nine starts on the season, and he has surrendered 12 runs on 17 hits over 11 2/3 innings for a 9.26 ERA through his last three starts.

Texas' right-hander Jose Urena is 0-2 with a 4.05 ERA in his last three starts, but note his 1.35 ERA over 20 innings at Globe Life Field in 2024. I think we're getting a fantastic play on a motivated team with a starting pitcher who thrives at home.

The Baltimore Orioles have scored 17 runs through the first two games of the series, but tonight they'll face Jose Berrios who has a record of 10-1 with an ERA of 2.95 and 80 strikeouts in 15 starts vs. the Orioles in his career. The Orioles might still like their chances of picking up a win with Albert Suarez (2-0, 1.57 ERA) on the mound, but I think the best value is on the under.

The Chicago White Sox are coming into this two-game series on an 11-game losing streak. Right-hander Chris Flexen (2-5, 5.50 ERA) is 0-1 with a 7.56 ERA in six career outings (three starts) against the Cubs, and 0-1 with an 8.74 ERA in five appearances (two starts) at Wrigley Field. 

The Chicago Cubs are also coming into this series cold with only two wins in 11 games, but they usually win with Shota Imanaga (5-1, 1.86 ERA) on the mound.

Both teams have averaged 5.1 runs per nine innings over their last five games, so even though Royals righty Seth Lugo (9-1, 1.72 ERA) has had a great start to the year, I think he could be in trouble tonight.

As for Cleveland starter Triston McKenzie (2-3, 3.77 ERA), he has allowed seven runs on five homers over 10 innings of his last two starts combined.

As both teams are coming into this game swinging hot bats; I like the over.

The Los Angeles Angels have scored only nine runs through a five-game slide and are 1-8 in their last nine games.

Angels' left-hander Tyler Anderson (5-5, 2.47 ERA) is having a strong year, but he's not getting much run support and he might find it difficult to outduel Padres righty Matt Waldron (3-5, 4.26 ERA), who is 2-0 with a 1.53 ERA and 25 Ks over 17 2/3 innings in his last three starts.

The Padres are coming off a 4-3 loss in Kansas City, but they are 5-2 in their last seven games and a solid 19-11 on the road, while LAA is 7-21 at home.

The New York Mets have been swinging hot bats in recent games, but tonight they'll run into Nats righty MacKenzie Gore (4-4, 2.91 ERA), who has a 1.93 ERA and 21 strikeouts over 18 2/3 innings in his last three starts.

The Nats have averaged only 3.6 runs per nine innings over their last five games and Mets starter Tyler Megill's 1.69 ERA speaks for itself. While over a small sample, none of his three starts went over seven runs. 

4* PLAY ON THE UNDER. 

5* AL WEST TOTAL OF THE MONTH MAX BET

Both teams have shown offensive struggles recently, Seattle in particular, with its 2.9 runs per nine innings average through its last five games while Angels have averaged just 3.9 R/9 over their last five games.

Luis Castillo (4-6, 3.28 ERA) will take the ball for Seattle. He has been solid this season, and is capable of keeping the Angels' bats in check. He'll be opposed by Griffin Canning (2-4, 5.08 ERA, who despite what his his less impressive ERA would suggest, can deliver quality outings, and he has a solid 3.38 in five career starts against the Angels.

The New York Yankees are coming off three consecutive wins and they are 9-4 SU as underdogs on the season. Right-hander Cody Poteet (0-0, 1.50 ERA) will make his second start of the season after holding Cleveland to one run over six innings of an 8-2 win in his first start, and while Giants' Logan Webb (4-4, 2.74 ERA) is a more experienced pitcher, the Yankees have a better bullpen and lineup.

At this price, I'll gladly back the Bronx Bombers with a big bet.

The Texas Rangers are heading to Miami riding a three-game winning streak.

The Marlins are coming off a 9-1 win over the Padres, but they have struggled with consistency all season and are 6-13 off a win (4-13 as underdogs).

Tonight, the Marlins will start right-hander Sixto Sanchez who is 0-3 with 6.25 ERA in six starts and 13 outings overall on the season. Sanchez is 0-2 with a 5.30 ERA over 18 2/3 innings at home. 

I like the price we get backing the Rangers.

The Milwaukee Brewers won Wednesday's matchup with the Chicago Cubs 10-6, and I think we'll see another high-scoring affair here in the finale of the four-game set. Both teams are starting to heat up at the plate, and Cubs right-hander Jameson Taillon has a 5.02 ERA in his last three starts, and Brewers righty Colin Rea has a 5.62 ERA in his last three starts.

The Oakland Athletics opened this series with a 3-0 win Tuesday night, and I expect another low-scoring affair in Game 2. 

Oakland starter Joey Estes' 7.47 ERA is worrisome, but both teams have struggled at the plate lately, with Oakland averaging 3.5 runs per nine innings in their last 10 games and the Rays 3.4 R/9 over their last 10 games.

The Kansas City Royals came into this series on a six-game winning streak and did not disappoint as they opened the set with an 8-1 win Friday night. 

I think they're in for a tougher challenge today, though, coming up against Rays righty Aaron Civale, who is 4-1 with an ERA of 3.15 in nine starts versus the Royals in his career. 

The Royals counter with Brady Singer, who has been solid at home, but he is 0-1 with an ERA of 4.20 in his road starts. Singer has a 5.16 ERA in four career starts against the Rays.

Astros right-hander Cristian Javier (3-1, 3.23 ERA) has been one of the most reliable pitchers in their rotation, and he is 5-1 with an ERA of 3.05 in seven starts against the Angels in his career.

I like the under in Game 1 of a doubleheader between the San Diego Padres and the Braves in Atlanta. 

Padres right-hander Dylan Cease (5-3, 2.45 ERA) gave up three runs in Colorado in his last start but has otherwise had a hot start and year. He's an experienced pitcher who can bounce back from subpar outings. 

The Braves counter with right-hander Reynaldo Lopez (2-1, 1.34 ERA), who, as his ERA suggests, has been outstanding. He's coming off five scoreless innings against the Cubs and has yet to allow more than three runs in an outing this year.

Washington Nationals right-hander Trevor Williams (4-0, 1.94 ERA) has had a great start to 2024, but he is 2-4 with a 5.20 ERA in 10 games (eight starts) versus the Phillies who are coming in hot, going 7-3 SU in their last 10 games, and five of those seven wins came by at least two runs.

The Detroit Tigers opened this series with a 13-0 win Friday night. I think runs will also come at a premium for Arizona tonight, but I also think the Tigers will be struggling to put runs on the board. 

Before yesterday's win, Detroit had been shut out in back-to-back games, and Arizona right-hander Zac Gallen (5-2, 2.86 ERA) has allowed just one run on 10 hits over 17 innings in three home starts this year. 

As for Detroit starter Jack Flaherty (0-3, 3.88 ERA), the right-hander has posted an ERRA of 3.52 in four road starts and the D'Backs have scored only four runs through their last three games.

The Houston Astros are 7-1 in their last eight games and coming into this game on a five-game winning streak after coming through for us with an 8-1 win over the Oakland Athletics last night. 

Tonight, the Astros hand the ball to Hunter Brown (0-4, 7.79 ERA), who is better than his numbers so far would suggest. It's only a matter of time before he finds his groove, and I like the price we get on the Astros to pick up another win tonight.

MIKE'S 4* RUNLINE PLAY OF THE DAY

The Houston Astros are 6-1 in their last seven games and covered the runline in four of those wins. I don't think they'll have any intentions of slowing down as they're just heating up following a slow start to the year, and tonight they'll face a right-hander in Joey Estes who has only three MLB starts under his belt. 

Houston counters with Cristian Javier (2-1, 4.01 ERA) who had allowed only four runs over 23 innings in five starts before giving up seven in 1 1/3 innings in Detroit his last time out. The A's do not have the bats to do anywhere close to that kind of damage. 

4* PLAY ON THE HOUSTON ASTROS -1.5. 

5* AL TOTAL OF THE WEEK MAX BET

The Boston Red Sox are 8-0 to the under in their last eight games and the Tampa Bay Rays have seen their last three games go under the closing total. 

Rays righty Zack Littell (2-2, 3.02 ERA) and Boston right-hander Cooper Criswell (2-1, 2.10 ERA) are both coming in hot and I think runs will come at a premium for both teams in this matchup.

The Cincinnati Reds are only 2-8 in their last 10 games and left-hander Andrew Abbott has posted an ERA of 4.70 through his last three starts while Arizona right-hander Brandon Pfaadt has posted an ERA of 2.93 through his last three starts. 

Additionally, it's worth noting that Arizona is batting .302 while averaging 7.2 R/9 against left-handers.

The Detroit Tigers have cooled off following a hot start to the year. They are only 3-7 in their last 10 games after taking a 9-3 loss to the Houston Astros on Sunday, but they have faced some tough opponents lately, and this looks like a good spot to bounce back against a Miami Marlins team that is only 11-31 on the season. 

Detroit right-hander Matt Manning (0-1, 4.24 ERA) has been recalled from Triple-A Toledo to fill in for Kenta Maeda, and while that's a downgrade, Manning is still a better option than Miami's Sixto Sanchez (0-1, 7.50 ERA) who has posted an ERA of 8.44 over his last three starts. 

Despite their recent struggles, Detroit has averaged a healthy 5.3 runs per nine innings through its last five games, and I think they'll win this game by at least a couple of runs. 

4* PLAY ON THE TIGERS -1.5. 

5* NL GAME OF THE WEEK MAX BET

The Cincinnati Reds are only 1-9 in their last 10 games, and they've been unable to provide their pitchers with much run support during this slide. 

Runs are likely to come at a premium for the Reds today as well against Giants left-hander Kyle Harrison (3-1, 3.20 ERA), who has allowed just one run on 12 hits over 18 innings for an ERA of 0.50 in his last three starts.

The team has won Harrison's last five starts, while the Reds are 1-3 in right-hander Frankie Montas' last four starts, and Montas has an ERA of 6.23 in his last three starts. 

5* PLAY ON THE GIANTS. 

5* NL EAST GAME OF THE MONTH MAX BET

The Atlanta Braves are coming off three straight multi-run wins, and today, they'll get a look at Mets rookie right-hander Christian Scott, who has only one career start under his belt. The Braves counter with their ace, left-hander Max Fried (2-1, 4.23 ERA) who has compiled an ERA of 1.64 over his last three starts.

The Mets are averaging only 3.9 R/9 against left-handers, while the Braves are averaging a solid 5.1 R/9 overall.

MIKE'S 4* MLB TOP PLAY OF THE DAY

The Kansas City Royals are coming off a 10-4 win over the Los Angeles Angels, and tonight, they get a look at Griffin Canning (1-4, 6.69 ERA), who has had a tough start to the season. The Angels are 2-5 in Canning's seven starts and only 4-12 at home. When Canning is done, he'll hand over the ball to a bullpen that has posted an ERA of 5.44. 

The Royals have averaged a healthy 5.3 R/9 over their last 10 games.

MIKE'S EARLY 4* MARINERS/TWINS MLB TOP PLAY OF THE DAY

Seattle right-hander Logan Gilbert (3-0, 1.69 ERA) has been one of the best pitchers in baseball so far in 2024. I trust him to slow down the Minnesota Twins while coming into this game as winners of 14 of their past 16 games, they are "only" 10-8 at home this season. 

Gilbert has faced the Twins three times in his career. He is 2-0 with a 1.69 ERA in those games, and Twins right-hander Pablo Lopez (3-2, 4.30 ERA) has not been quite as sharp as Gilbert so far this season. 

Additionally, it's worth noting that the Mariners are 6-2 SU in their last 8 games as underdogs. 

4* PLAY ON THE MARINERS. 

5* NL WEST TOTAL OF THE MONTH MAX BET

The San Francisco Giants opened this series with a 5-0 win, but I expect to see plenty of runs from both sides tonight. 

I do not doubt that the Giants will put up their fair share against Colorado right-hander Peter Lambert who has posted an ERA of 10.00 over his last three starts, but also think the Rockies will contribute after getting shut out.

MIKE'S LATE 4* MLB TOP PLAY OF THE DAY

The Oakland Athletics' six-game winning streak ended on Sunday with a 12-3 loss to the Miami Marlins.

I think they're in for another loss here Monday night with left-hander Alex Wood on the mound, facing a Texas Rangers team averaging 4.5 R/9 against left-handers and are 5-3 on the season as favorites and facing a left-handed starter.

This is also part of a bigger picture, as they were 20-11 as favorites against left-handed starters last year.

I don't think the Milwaukee Brewers are quite as good as their hot start to the season would suggest. Regression is coming, and right-hander Freddy Peralta (3-0, 3.21 ERA) has allowed seven runs over 10 innings in his last two starts. 

Cubs right-hander Javier Assad (2-0, 1.97 ERA) has been elite, and he has allowed just three runs over 15 2/3 innings in his last three starts.

The New York Yankees have been held to two runs or fewer in five straight games and Detroit Tigers right-hander Casey Mize 1-0, 3.08 ERA) has allowed just six earned runs through his last four starts. The Detroit Tigers have averaged 4.1 R/9 on the road and Yankees righty Clarke Schmidt (2-1, 3.19 ERA) is off to a hot start to the year.

5* INTERLEAGUE RUNLINE OF THE WEEK MAX BET

The Washington Nationals have been shut out in two of their last three games, and they scored one run in the one they didn't. They're batting .212 while averaging 3.8 R/9 vs. left-handers and here they'll run into Toronto left-hander Yusei Kikuchi who is 2-1 with a 3.50 ERA in his last three starts. Nats left-hander Patrick Corbin is 0-1 with a 5.17 ERA in his last three starts and the team has lost four of his last five starts. 

5* PLAY ON THE BLUE JAYS -1½.

This looks like a good spot to back the Atlanta Braves to bounce back from a 2-1 loss to Seattle in the opener of this series.

Braves right-hander Reynaldo Lopez (2-0, 0.72 ERA) has been nearly unhittable with just two runs and 14 hits allowed against 24 strikeouts over 25 innings of work. His career numbers against the Mariners are not pretty, but he has not faced them since 2019 ... 

Seattle right-hander Luis Castillo (2-4, 4.15 ERA) is 0-3 with an ERA of 5.40 in his three home starts in 2024. 

4* PLAY ON THE BRAVES. 

5* NL EAST TOTAL OF THE MONTH MAX BET

The Washington Nationals opened this series with a 3-1 win Friday night, and I expect another low-scoring affair in Game 2 of the series. 

The Nats have scored a total of only eight runs through their last four games, and Miami right-hander Edward Cabrera (1-0, 3.27 ERA) has impressed in his two starts in 2024, with only four runs allowed and 17 Ks over 11 innings of work. 

The Marlins have been limited to a total of four runs through their last four games and Nats rookie left-hander Mitchell Parker has allowed just two runs with 12 strikeouts over 12 innings on the mound. 

Miami is averaging 2.4 R/9 vs. left-handers and Washington 3.7 R/9 vs. right-handers.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are off to a fairly slow 14-11 start, but they're coming into this game riding a three-game winning streak, including 4-1 and 11-2 wins over the Washington Nationals. 

I expect another easy Dodgers win in the finale of this three-game series.

The Nationals hand the ball to left-hander MacKenzie Gore (2-1, 3.60 ERA) who was tagged with four runs on six hits over four innings when he faced the Dodgers last year.

The Dodgers counter with rookie right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto (1-1, 4.50 ERA), who has been a strikeout machine with 30 Ks over 22 innings. The Dodgers have lost four of his five starts, but I think that'll make them more motivated to step up for him today. 

4* PLAY ON THE DODGERS -1.5. 

5* AL TOTAL OF THE WEEK MAX BET

Detroit right-hander Jack Flaherty (0-1, 4.44 ERA) has recorded 18 Ks while allowing five runs over 12 1/3 innings in his last two starts combined. The Tampa Bay Rays counter with Shawn Armstrong (1-1, 4.09 ERA) who has made two starts and eight appearances on the season. Armstrong will serve as the opener before handing over to a bullpen that has gotten better following a slow start to the season. 

The Rays' bats have been quiet for some time, and I would not be surprised if the Tigers also come out flat tonight.

5* INTERLEAGUE GAME OF THE WEEK MAX BET

The Toronto Blue Jays are going for the sweep of this series, following a 5-1 win on Friday and a 5-2 win on Saturday. 

The Padres' scoring woes are likely to continue against Toronto right-hander Chris Bassitt, who has allowed just two runs on nine hits with 13 Ks over 13 innings in his last two starts.

Meanwhile, San Diego right-hander Joe Musgrove has surrendered three runs or more in four of his five starts this season, and he has walked seven batters in his last two starts alone. 

5* PLAY ON THE BLUE JAYS.

The Philadelphia Phillies have scored 12 runs through their last two games, but they're still 8-2 to the under in their last 10 games.

The Chicago White Sox are averaging a pathetic 2-1 runs per nine innings on the season, and Philly right-hander Spencer Turnbull (1-0, 1.80 ERA) is off to a terrific start to the season. 

As for White Sox starter Garett Crochet (1-2, 3.57 ERA), the left-hander had allowed just four runs through his first three starts before giving up five runs in a 5-0 loss to Cincinnati in his last start. It was still a decent outing, though; Crochet had 10 Ks against four hits and three walks over his 4 2/3 innings on the mound.

Crochet leads the American League with 31 strikeouts entering play on Thursday.

MIKE'S 4* RANGERS/TIGERS MLB TOP PLAY OF THE DAY

Detroit right-hander Kenta Maeda was slapped around by the Chicago White Sox in his season opener, but he has allowed only four earned runs on seven hits with 8 Ks over 11 innings in his last two starts. 

Maeda is 2-0 with a 3.32 ERA in five career appearances (four starts) against the Texas Rangers who will counter with rookie Jack Leiter, the No. 2 pick of the 2021 draft, who will make his MLB debut today.

Leiter made six appearances in spring training, one start, going 0-2 with a 4.26 ERA, and his minor league numbers are not very impressive. 

Texas bullpen has an ERA of 4.93 on the season, while Detroit's relievers have posted a very solid ERA of 1.76. 

We lost with Detroit yesterday, as three errors basically cost them the game. I expect a more focused effort in this game as they look to salvage a split in the series.

Detroit left-hander Tarik Skubal has blanked his opponent in two of three starts on the season, and the Tigers won all three games. The Texas Rangers are 1-3 against left-handed starters.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have been held to three runs or fewer in five of their last seven games. Today, they'll face Luis Severino, who has limited the Pirates to one run over 11 innings in two previous meetings. Severino gave up six runs (three earned) in his season debut but has since allowed just two runs over 10 innings. 

The Bucs hand the ball to left-hander Bailey Falter, who, like Severino, has recovered after a rocky first start. In his next two starts since his season opener, he has allowed only one run on five hits over 11 innings.

5* NL TOTAL OF THE WEEK MAX BET

The Philadelphia Phillies opened this series with a 2-1 win, and I expect another low-scoring affair when they host the Colorado Rockies for Game 2 Tuesday night. 

Phillies left-hander Ranger Suarez (2-0, 2.65 ERA) is off to a great start, and the Rockies are batting only .223 against left-handers. 

Rockies left-hander Austin Gomber (0-0, 4.91 ERA) is also off to a solid start, with eight runs allowed on 16 hits with a respectable 14 Ks over 14 2/3 innings of work. 

The Rockies have averaged 3.7 R/9 over their last five games, and the Phillies have averaged 3.1 R/9 over their last five games. 

5* PLAY ON THE UNDER. 

5* AL RUNLINE OF THE WEEK MAX BET

Tampa Bay right-hander Zach Eflin has allowed 6, 1 and 5 runs through his first three starts of the season.

With such inconsistency, I don't think the Rays should be this big of a favorite with Eflin on the mound, and without a reliable bullpen to back him up.

The Rays relievers have a combined ERA of 6.23, which is dead last across the major leagues.

5* PLAY ON THE ANGELS +1.5. 

5* AL CENTRAL GAME OF THE MONTH MAX BET

The Detroit Tigers hand the ball to left-hander Tarik Skubal for his second start of the season. Skubal tossed six scoreless innings against the Chicago White Sox in his season opener before giving up four runs in 6 1/3 innings against Oakland in his second start.

The Tigers won both games, and I like the Tigers to pick up another win here against a Minnesota Twins team that is cold on the plate.

It's also worth noting that Skubal has allowed just five hits over 12 scoreless innings in his last two matchups with the Twins.

Neither Atlanta left-hander Max Fried (0-0, 18.00 ERA) nor Miami left-hander Trevor Rogers (0-1, 5.40 ERA) has had a good start to the year, and I expect to see a fair amount of runs scored when the Marlins host the Braves for the opener of a three-game series Friday night. 

The Braves bats are red hot, and Miami scored five runs in a win over the Yankees in the Bronx in their last game. 

4* PLAY ON THE OVER. 

5* AL CENTRAL TOTAL OF THE MONTH MAX BET

The Chicago White Sox are 7-3 to the under for the season, and that should come as no surprise as they're averaging a paltry 2.1 R/9.

Tonight, they'll run into Cleveland right-hander Tanner Bibee (1-0, 3.86 ERA) while countering with right-hander Erick Fedde (0-0, 2.79 ERA).

Both pitchers are off to a solid start to the season, and I expect regression at the plate from both sides after combining for 12 runs yesterday.

The Washington Nationals are coming off three straight wins as +137, +193 and +174 underdogs. There's no way they can keep the upsets coming like this, and tonight they'll face a San Francisco Giants team desperate for a win and looking to deny the Nats to sweep the three-game series.

Nationals left-hander Patrick Corbin has allowed eight runs over 10 1/3 innings in two starts on the season, while Giants right-hander Jordan Hicks has allowed just one earned run over his 12 innings on the mound.

Additionally, note that Corbin has lost his past two starts against the Giants while allowing 15 hits and 10 runs over just 7 2/3 frames.

Baltimore right-hander Corbin Burnes has not disappointed through his first two starts with the team. The Orioles won both games, with Burnes allowing just three runs on 10 hits with 14 Ks over 11 2/3 innings.

The Boston Red Sox are also 2-0 in Brayan Bello's two starts, but he has allowed six runs over 10 innings. While it was enough to defeat Seattle and Oakland, I think Boston and Bello will take an L here.

The Tampa Bay Rays roll into Los Angeles on the back of a pair of wins in Colorado. Tonight, they hand the ball to Zach Eflin, who limited Texas to one run on five hits over 6 1/3 innings in his last start. 

The Angels counter with left-hander Tyler Anderson who is coming off seven scoreless innings against Miami, but his career numbers against the Rays are ugly (nine runs allowed over 10 1/3 frames). 

The Rays are averaging 5.5 R/9 while batting .272 against left-handers on the season. 

4* PLAY ON THE RAYS. 

5* NATIONAL LEAGUE TOTAL OF THE WEEK MAX BET

I expect to see a fair amount of runs scored when the Cincinnati Reds host the New York Mets Saturday afternoon. 

Mets right-hander Luis Severino was slapped around for six runs (three earned) on 11 hits over five innings in his season debut. Mets right-hander Nick Martinez gave up three runs on six hits over five innings against the Washington Nationals in his first start of the season. 

The Reds have been swinging hot bats, and this looks like a good spot for the Mets bats to get going after a slow start to the season. 

5* PLAY ON THE OVER. 

MIKE'S 4* MLB TOP PLAY OF THE DAY

I expect to see a hungry Miami Marlins come out fully focused as they're in desperate need of a win following an 0-5 start to the season. 

In his season debut, Marlins' right-hander Jesus Luzardo held Pittsburgh to two runs with eight strikeouts over five innings. Luzardo was 5-4 with an ERA of 2.99 in 19 home starts last season, and he has limited the Angels to two runs over 10 innings in previous meetings. 

Angels veteran left-hander Tyler Anderson will make his season debut today. Anderson typically struggles early in the season and owns a career ERA of 5.19 in Apri throughout his career 

4* PLAY ON THE MARLINS. 

MIKE'S 4* MLB TOP PLAY OF THE DAY

Last season, the Orioles were a solid 36-19 (+$17.9% ROI) against left-handed starters, and they won 11-3 when they faced Angels' left-handed starter Patrick Sandoval in the season opener. They've outscored the Angels 24-7 through the first two games of this series, and I think they'll win easily again here against Angels' lefty Reid Detmers.

4* PLAY ON THE ORIOLES.

Toronto right-hander Jose Berrios is 3-4 with a 4.91 ERA in 10 career starts against the Rays while Tampa Bay righty Zach Eflin is 2-2 with a 5.64 ERA in five career appearances (four starts) against Toronto.

Eflin is solid though and finished last season 16-8 with a 3.50 ERA, so if Toronto has any edge on the mound at all (doubtful), the Rays make up for it with a better team overall and a big bullpen edge. 

4* PLAY ON THE RAYS. 

5* BEST BET: MIKE'S ALCS TOTAL OF THE YEAR

Game 7 of the ALCS, and with two elite pitchers and a ticket to the World Series on the line we should see a low-scoring game, right? I don't think so.

Texas starter Max Scherzer gave up seven runs in three innings against Houston on September 6 and five runs in four innings of an 8-5 loss when he faced them last week. Houston starter Cristian Javier limited Texas to a pair of runs over 5 2/3 innings in that matchup, but both teams have proven they can score runs off the relievers, and the Rangers are coming off a nine-run outing. 

5* PLAY ON OVER. 

5* BEST BET: MIKE'S ALCS TOTAL OF THE YEAR

These two pitchers faced off in the opener of the NLCS, a game Philadelphia won 5-3. Three of the first four games have gone over the total, but I like the under here in Game 5. The pitchers' home and away splits are in our favor, and Zack Wheeler has a 2.96 ERA in 11 career stats against Arizonw while Zac Gallen has a 2.22 ERA in five career starts against the Phillies. 

5* PLAY ON UNDER. 

4* TOP PLAY: MIKE'S MLB GAME OF THE WEEK

Arizona will be looking to tie the series following a 2-1 win in Game 3 on Thursday, but I like the Phillies to bounce back with a win here in Game 4. 

Arizona's 2022 All-Star Joe Mantiply will serve as the opener in a bullpen game while the Phillies hand the ball to left-hander Cristopher Sanchez (3-5, 3.44 ERA). 

Mantiply has a career 7.36 regular-season ERA in five relief outings against Philadelphia, and while the Diamondbacks bullpen has been solid in the playoffs, I much rather trust a team with a regular starter on the mound. 

4* PLAY ON PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES

4* TOP PLAY: ASTROS/RANGERS MLB PLAY OF THE DAY

The Texas Rangers have taken control of the series after winning both of the first games in Houston. For Game 3, they'll hand the ball to Max Scherzer who was 5-2 with a 3.09 ERA in his 12 home starts on the season.

Houston right-hander Cristian Javier was 6-3 with an ERA of 4.82 in 19 road starts. Houston won 13 of those 19 games, but Javier's ERA on the road is worrisome and can they really keep bailing him out?

Texas is undefeated through seven playoff games, and that against Tampa Bay, Baltimore and Houston. The team is oozing with confidence and I expect them to take a 3-0 lead in the series. 

5* BET BET - MIKE'S ALDS GAME OF THE YEAR

The Astros are not quite the powerhouse we've gotten used to seeing in recent seasons and now they're in a tough spot after splitting the first two games of the series home in Houston. 

The Twins are 25-15 as a home favorite of -125 to -175 on the season and right-hander Sonny Gray (9-8, 2.67 ERA) has posted a minuscule ERA of 1.38 over his last seven starts. Gray held the Astros to four runs over 13 innings in two regular-season meetings. Minnesota won both games. 

As for Houston starter Cristian Javier (10-5, 4.50 ERA), he was a lot better at home than on the road where he posted a 5.07 ERA over 18 starts. Javier has a 4.41 ERA over his last seven starts. He did note face the Twins during the regular season.

4* TOP PLAY - Mike's Blue Jays/Twins MLB Game of the Week

We lost with the Blue Jays in Game 1 of the series, and I'm switching sides to back Minnesota to win and close out the series and move on to the ALDS. 

Toronto right-hander Jose Berrios (11-12, 3.65 ERA) struggled down the stretch, with a 4.53 ERA through his last seven starts and eight runs allowed over his last two starts. Minnesota right-hander Sonny Gray (8-8, 2.74 ERA) has posted an ERA of 1.54 over his last seven starts and allowed more than one run in only one of those outings.

4* TOP PLAY - Mike's Blue Jays/Twins MLB Play of the Day

I think the wrong team is favored here in this Tuesday night AL Wild Card matchup between Toronto and Minnesota. 

Minnesota right-hander Pablo Lopez (11-8, 3.71 ERA) struggled down the stretch. He has posted a 6.46 ERA over his last three starts and a 4.46 ERA over his last seven starts. Lopez gave up four runs in 5 2/3 innings when he faced Toronto back in May. 

Toronto right-hander Kevin Gausman (12-9, 3.16 ERA) is coming off back-to-back scoreless outings (both against the Yankees) covering a total of 13 innings. Gausman has a 2.88 ERA over his last seven starts. 

The two teams have split six meetings this season, with both teams winning twice on the road.

Arizona right-hander Zac Gallen has struggled on the road, but he is 12-2 with a 2.45 ERA in 15 home starts on the season.

The Orioles would clinch the division with a win here against Boston, and I like the price we get on Baltimore with Dean Kremer (12-5, 4.25 ERA) on the mound. Kremer has not been at his sharpest lately, but the team has still won eight of his last 10 starts. Boston counters with left-hander Chris Sale (6-4, 4.42 ERA). The Orioles are 35-17 SU against left-handers.
