The 7-15 Minnesota Twins have had a disappointing start to the season and coming off three losses to the Angels in Anaheim, and they're 4-5 at home. The Chicago White Sox are 5-17 on the season and 1-9 away from home, and I think they'll struggle to solve Twins righty Bailey Ober who has been solid with just five runs allowed in three starts since surrendering eight runs in his season debut.

4% YANKEES/GUARDIANS MLB TOP PLAY OF THE DAY

The New York Yankees blanked the Rays twice over a four-game series, but don't see Clarke Schmidt shutting out the hot Cleveland Guardians in his second start of the season. Schmidt gave up three runs over 5 2/3 innings against KC on April 16 in his season debut, and Cleveland scored 18 runs through a 3-0 sweep of the Pirates over the weekend. The Guardians hand the ball to Gavin Williams (1-1, 4.58 ERA) who conceded four runs (two home runs) over 6 2/3 innings of a 9-1 loss at Baltimore last time out.

EARLY 4% MLB TOP PLAY OF THE DAY

The Kansas City Royals had a decent start to the season but have now dropped five straight and seven of their last eight.

The Detroit Tigers have outscored KC 13-4 through the first two games of this series and Detroit righty Casey Mize had been a beast before conceding four runs in 5 273 innings at Minnesota last time out. I think Mize will bounce back with a strong outing against a Royals team averaging only three runs per game and lead the Tigers to a win.

5% MLB INTERLEAGUE GAME OF THE MONTH MAX BET

The Texas Rangers are 9-1 at home after sweeping the Angels, but they’re stepping up in class tonight against a far more dangerous L.A. squad.

Dodgers right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto enters red hot, coming off back-to-back scoreless outings with six shutout frames against both the Phillies and Cubs. He’s now posted a 1.23 ERA over 22 innings this season.

The Rangers turn to Jacob deGrom, who was sharp in his season debut but has since surrendered seven runs, including four homers, over 9 2/3 innings in his last two starts.

The Dodgers hold the edge across the board in this matchup and should be laying a bigger number.

5% PLAY ON THE DODGERS. 

5% AL GAME OF THE WEEK MAX BET

The Detroit Tigers come in motivated after scoring just one run in back-to-back losses at Milwaukee. The Tigers have been far more productive at home at Comerica Park, where they are 5-1 on the season. I think they'll be back to scoring runs here against Michael Lorenzen, who has allowed seven runs over 11 innings in two road starts on the season.

The Royals are 2-7 on the road while averaging only 2.8 runs / nine innings.  

5% PLAY ON THE TIGERS. 

5% AL TOTAL OF THE MONTH MAX BET

The Oakland Athletics opened the series with a 12-3 win but had been shut out in their previous game. I think they'll struggle to put runs on the board here against White Sox right-hander Jonathan Canno,n who should come out laser-focused after allowing six runs over 5 1/3 innings last time out following two solid starts. A's righty Osvaldo Bido has allowed five runs over 15 innings for a 3.00 ERA and the White Sox have averaged only 3.1 R/9 over their last 10 games. 

5% PLAY ON THE UNDER. 

4% MLB TOTAL TOP PLAY OF THE DAY

The Baltimore Orioles and Cleveland Guardians both had Monday off, and I think we’ll see some fresh bats come out swinging in the series opener. Orioles righty Charlie Morton has been hit hard early, allowing 13 runs in 13 1/3 innings, while Guardians starter Logan Allen has struggled with traffic on the bases. This looks like a solid setup for a relatively high-scoring affair.

5% MLB INTERLEAGUE GAME OF THE WEEK MAX BET

This looks like a good spot to back the Houston Astros to build on a 7-3 home win over the Angels.

Astros left-hander Framber Valdez hs held opponents scoreless in two of three starts on the season while Cards' veteran right-hander Sonny Gray has a 4.50 ERA in three starts this season, and their relievers have an ERA more than two runs higher than the Astros on the season. 

The Astros have averaged 5.9 runs per nine innings over their last five games, while the Cardinals have averaged 3.1 R/9 over their last five.

4% MLB TOP PLAY OF THE DAY

The Seattle Mariners have dominated recent meetings with the Texas Rangers and I think that will be the case again here with Mariners' Logan Gilbert going up against Nathan Eovaldi on the mound.

Gilbert gave up three runs in five innings in his last start, but also recorded 10 Ks to make it 18 strikeouts in two starts on the season and Gilbert is 4-2 with a 2.59 ERA in 13 games against Texas. Eovaldi meanwhile is 2-3 with a 5.46 ERA in 11 career outings against Seattle.

4% PLAY ON THE MARINERS. 

4% MLB MONEYLINE TOP PLAY OF THE DAY

The Los Angeles Angels have started the season strong, but the same can not be said about left-hander Tyler Anderson wbo has allowed eight runs (seven earned) over 9 1/3 innings of work. The Houston Astros can't be too happy with their start to the season but I think they'll step up here for rookie right-hander Ryan Gusto in his MLB debut. 

4% PLAY ON THE ASTROS.

The Chicago White Sox opened the series with an 11-1 win, but I think they'll find it more difficult to put runs on the board here against Richard Fitts who should come in focused after looking shaky in his last start.

White Sox lefty Martin Perez on the other hand, has already hit his stride with just one run allowed over 12 1/3 frames on the season.

5% AL GAME OF THE MONTH MAX BET

The Detroit Tigers saw their five-game winning streak snapped in a 4-3 loss to the Yankees on Wednesday. That wrapped up a 5-1 homestand, and I think they're in for another setback in the opener of this three-game set at Target Field. The Twins should come out focused after losing four of their last five. This will be just their fourth home game of the season so far and rookie right-hander David Festa will be eager to impress in his season debut.

5% AL GAME OF THE WEEK MAX BET

I expect to see a fired up Minnesota Twins team after three consecutive losses, the last two to the Kansas City Royals. I also expect a bounce back from right-hander Joe Ryan who gave up four runs over five innings against the Astros last time out after opening the season with a solid start against the Cardinals.

The Chicago Cubs had won five straight before falling just short in an 8-7 loss to the Padres on Sunday. They still put up runs, which is a positive sign, and I like their chances of getting back on track here against the Texas Rangers and Nathan Eovaldi, who could be in for a letdown after tossing nine scoreless innings of four-hit ball in his season debut.

4% PLAY ON THE CUBS. 

4% MLB RUNLINE TOP PLAY OF THE DAY

The Detroit Tigers opened the season with three losses to the Dodgers but have won three of four since, including a 7-4 win in the opener of this series on Friday.

I think they'll feast again here off Davis Martin who posted an 0-5 record with a 4.32 ERA in 2024, and I expect a big game from Tigers' Reese Olson against a weak opponent after surrendering four runs on four hits in 4 2/3 innings against the Dodgers in his first start of the season.

4% PLAY ON THE TIGERS -1.5. 

4% MLB TOTAL TOP PLAY OF THE DAY

The Cincinnati Reds are coming off back-to-back 1-0 losses to the Rangers, and they've scored more than three runs in a game just once this season. Runs have been hard to come by for the Milwaukee Brewers as well, and I think the pitching mathup supports an under.

4% MLB MONEYLINE TOP PLAY OF THE DAY

The Detroit Tigers recorded their first win of the season in the opener of this series after three losses to the Dodgers in LA.

With that monkey off their back, I think the Tigers will be back to their losing ways here against a Mariners team with Logan Gilbert on the mound. Gilbert held Oakland to one run on two hits over seven innings of a 4-2 win in his season debut, while Casey Mize will make his first start of the season for Detroit.

Mize looked sharp in spring training, but posted an ERA of 4.49 in 22 outings (20 starts) last season and I think the Mariners will get to him fast and easy. 

4% PLAY ON THE MARINERS. 

5% NL RUNLINE OF THE MONTH MAX BET

This looks like a good spot to back the Philadelphia Phillies, who opened the season with two wins before a 5-1 loss to the Nationals on Sunday. They should have better success at the plate against German Marquez, who has only pitched five games over the past two seasons due to injuries and could show signs of rust.

Meanwhile, Cristopher Sanchez has posted ERAs under 3.50 in back-to-back seasons, giving the Phillies a clear edge on the mound.

5% PLAY ON THE PHILLIES -1.5. 

4% GIANTS/REDS MLB TOP PLAY OF THE DAY

The San Francisco Giants and the Cincinnati Reds have split the first two games of the series after a 3-2 Cincy win on Saturday, but I like the Giants to claim the series with a win on Sunday. 

The Giants hand the ball to left-hander Robbie Ray who was 3-0 with a 1.86 ERA in five spring training starts, while the Reds counter with Nick Martinez who was 1-1 with a 2.25 ERA in four appearances during spring training. 

In 2024, Ray posted an unimpressive 4.70 ERA over his seven starts for the Giants before being shut down with a hamstring strain in August, but he's typically a reliable strikeout machine who can hold off the Reds.

4% MLB TOP PLAY OF THE DAY

This looks like a good spot to back the Atlanta Braves after opening the season with a couple of losses.

Atlanta right-hander Spencer Schwellenbach looked sharp in spring training and was 8-7 with a 3.35 ERA in 21 starts during his rookie season, while Padres' righty Randy Vasquez was 4-7 with a 4.87 ERA in 20 starts during his second year in the league.

Vasquez is 0-3 with a 4.40 ERA in three career starts against Atlanta, and I think the hungry Braves will get the W here. 

4% PLAY ON THE BRAVES. 

5% WORLD SERIES GAME OF THE YEAR MAX BET

The Los Angeles Dodgers missed their chance to sweep, but I’m backing them to bounce back strong from last night’s 11-4 loss.

The score doesn’t tell the whole story; the Yankees piled on five runs in the bottom of the eighth, making it look more one-sided than it was.

With a solid starter in Jack Flaherty on the mound tonight instead of a bullpen game, I expect the Dodgers to finish the job and hoist the trophy.

5% ALCS TOTAL OF THE YEAR MAX BET

Neither Luis Gil nor Gavin Williams have been particularly sharp lately and both bullpens will be depleted from last night's extra-inning game where the starting pitchers went just 4 2/3 and 5 innings. 

The final scores have trended upward (7, 9, 12). I love the over.

5% ALCS  GAME OF THE YEAR MAX BET

Two quality pitchers in Tanner Bibee and Gerrit Cole, and I don't think the Yankee's edge on other positions is enough to warrant this price.

Also, Cole gave up four runs (three earned) on seven hits in five-plus innings in Game 1 of their ALDS versus the Royals, snd he has a 4.15 ERA at home compared to a 2.76 ERA on the road for the season. 

5% PLAY ON THE GUARDIANS +1.5. 

5% NLDS  GAME OF THE YEAR MAX BET

I like the LA Dodgers in this winner-take-all game. Sure, Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up five runs over just three innings in Game 1 of the series, but the Dodgers still won that game 7-5.

Yamamoto pitched only three innings, and he had an extra day of rest compared to Padres Game 2 winner Yu Darvish, who logged seven innings in that start.

4% GUARDIANS/TIGERS MLB TOP PLAY OF THE DAY

This looks like a good spot to back the Cleveland Guardians to bounce back from back-to-back shutout losses. They are 12-4 off a shutout loss and 20-14 as road favorites.

The first two games of the series in LA both saw 12 runs scored, but I think Game 3 will stay under the total.

Padres rigthy Michael King has a 2.82 ERA in five career outings covering 22 1/3 innings against the Dodgers, and Walker Buehler has an  ERA of 1.80 in 12 starts against the Padres in his career.

Buehler was 1-6 with a 5.38 ERA in 16 starts this season, but there's a reason the Dodgers' still trust him here against the Friars. 

5% PLAY ON THE UNDER. 

4% TIGERS/GUARDIANS MLB TOP PLAY

Sure, Tigers' left-hander Tarik Skubal has emerged as an elite pitcher and will likely be the American League Cy Award winner, but Guardians lefty Matthew Boyd can also be proud of his 2.72 ERA over eight starts. Also, he's relatively fresh, having returned to the majors in mid-August. 

Skubal, meanwhile, has been logging a lot of innings, and although he held Cleveland to one run over seven innings on July 22, note that he allowed 10 hits. 

The Guardians are 30-11 against left-handed starters on the season. 

4% PLAY ON THE GUARDIANS. 

5% SD/LAD MLB GAME OF THE WEEK MAX BET

These two teams clashed in the last week of the regular season when the Los Angeles Dodgers won two of three here at home at Dodger Stadium despite having clinched the division the week before.

The Padres went on to defeat the Braves in two games in the wild-card round, but now they'll have to face their old nemesis again.

San Diego went 8-5 against the Dodgers during the regular season, but that might add fuel to the fire for the home team, and you know the Dodgers will step up a notch in the playoffs.

5% NL WILD CARD TOTAL OF THE YEAR MAX BET

The New York Mets and the Milwaukee Brewers will square off in a win-or-go home matchup for both teams. Following two overs, I expect a low-scoring game.

Both starting pitchers are coming in hot; Mets lefty Jose Quintana has allowed jsut five runs across his last five starts and Milwaukee righty Tobias Myers has held four of his last five opponents to two runs or fewer. 

This will be Myers first career start against the Mets while Quintana has a 2.98 ERA in 23 career outings (22 starts) against Milwaukee.

5% NL WILD CARD GAME OF THE YEAR MAX BET

The San Diego Padres are just one win from the playoffs following a 4-0 win in Game 1 of the three-game series on Tuesday. The Braves just barely made it to the wild card round, and I do not think they can threaten the Padres, not even with Max Fried on the mound. Fried gave up three runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings when he faced the Padres back in May, and the Padres have had success against left-handers all season.

The Houston Astros have clinched the AL West and are locked into the 3-seed in the American League Playoffs. The Cleveland Guardians have also secured their division and still have an outside shot at the No. 1 seed in the AL if they win out and the Yankees lose twice to the Pirates. While it's a long shot, I expect Cleveland to handle their business today.

After last night's loss to the Dodgers, the San Diego Padres are officially out of the division race, but they’re all but locked into the top Wild Card spot in the National League.

Meanwhile, the Arizona Diamondbacks are in a fierce battle with the Mets and Braves for the remaining two spots.

I expect a motivated Arizona team to capitalize on a Padres squad with little left to play for.

These two teams have averaged a combined four runs per game over their last 10, but I expect fireworks in the finale of this three-game series.

Washington lefty Patrick Corbin can implode at any moment, as seen in his last outing where he gave up five runs on eight hits over 4 1/3 innings at Wrigley. Corbin has allowed seven or more hits in three of his last four starts.

On the other side, KC right-hander Michael Wacha has a solid 1.53 ERA over his last three starts, though he’s been skating on thin ice with plenty of baserunners.

The Chicago Cubs won Tuesday's matchup 10-4, but I think this will be a low-scoring affair. Philadelphia righty Cristopher Sanchez has a 1.80 ERA in four starts this month, and while Cubs righty Javier Assad has a 2.47 ERA at home and a 4.17 mark away from Wrigley Field, this looks like a good spot to improve on his road ERA as the Phillies have shown inconsistency at the plate.

This looks like a good spot to fade the Houston Astros who might take their foot off the gas after celebrating clinching the AL West title last night. Meanwhile, the Seattle Mariners are still in the thick of the playoff race, sitting 2½ games back of the AL's final wild-card spot and desperate for a win.

The Tampa Bay Rays are riding a four-game win streak, and right-hander Ryan Pepiot has been sharp in recent starts. Although the Rays are 2-2 in his last four outings, both losses were by just one run. Pepiot boasts a 1.50 ERA in two career appearances against Detroit. While the Tigers counter with ace Tarik Skubal, I see the value on the Rays in this matchup.

4% RED SOX/BLUE JAYS MLB TOP PLAY OF THE DAY

This looks like a good spot to back the Toronto Blue Jays to bounce back from three losses at Tampa Bay and a 1-5 road trip.

Tonight the Jays hand the ball to Chris Bassitt who has held three of his last four opponents to just one run, including 6 2/3 innings of one-run ball at Boston on Aug 28. Bassitt has an ERA of 2.29across three starts against the Red Sox on the season.

Boston's righty Tanner Houck has allowed six runs (four earned) over 12 1/3 innings in two starts against Toronto on the season, and Houck has a 5.00 ERA in two September starts. 

4% PLAY ON THE BLUE JAYS. 

5% AL GAME OF THE MONTH MAX BET

Veteran right-hander Jacob deGrom will take the ball for Texas for his second start of the season after holding the Mariners scoreless over 3 2/3 innings on Sep 13. deGrom has made only seven starts over the last two seasons as he's been battling injuries, but we all know how good he is when healthy. 

The Mariners counter with George Kirby who is coming off seven scoreless innings against the Mariners in Seattle on Sep 15, but he had allowed 15 runs across his previous four starts. I think the Rangers will have a better read on him for this game, and Kirby's ERA on the road is more than a full run higher than at home. 

5% PLAY ON THE RANGERS. 

5% NL TOTAL OF THE WEEK MAX BET

Mets right-hander Luis Severino gave up three runs in six innings when he faced the Phillies on Sep 14.

Phillies righty Taijuan Walker will make his first start since Aug 28 when he surrendered six runs on 13 hits in six innings of a 10-0 loss to Houston. Walker has made just three appearances as a reliever since, including three scoreless innings against the Mets on Sep 14, but considering his 6.29 ERA, I think the Mets will get to him with ease this time.

5% MLB INTERLEAGUE GAME OF THE YEAR MAX BET

This looks like a great spot to back the Baltimore Orioles to bounce back from a pair of losses and deny the Giants to sweep the three-game series. 

Giants All-Star righty Logan Webb has a 3.53 ERA for the season, but he has struggled in recent starts. Webb gave up four runs, three earned, and seven hits in four innings against the Padres in his last start, and Webb has surrendered 16 runs across his past four starts.

The Orioles counter with Zach Eflin who is 5-2 with a 2.22 ERA since coming over from the Rays, and he has allowed just six runs across his last five starts. 

5% PLAY ON THE ORIOLES. 

4% BLUE JAYS/RANGERS MLB TOP PLAY OF THE DAY

The over/under is 9-1 in the past 10 meetings following a 13-8 Rangers win last night, but I think the bats will cool off for tonight's matchup and two hot pitchers are taking the mound. 

Blue Jays' righty Bowden Francis allowed just four runs across 34 1/3 innings for an ERA of 1.05 last month, and he has posted a 2.57 ERA in two September starts.

Rangers left-hander Cody Bradford gave up eight runs in a 14-4 loss in Arizona his last time out. However, he was on a 5-0 run to the under prior to that game. Also, note his 2.57 ERA at home compared to 8.10 on the road.

Twins right-hander Zebby Matthews has allowed 15 runs and six homers across his past three starts and Cleveland righty Gavin Williams has conceded nine runs across his past three starts.

Neither team has been swinging hot bats lately, but with this pitching matchup and Matthews' struggles with the long ball I really like the over.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have averaged 6.6 runs per nine innings over their last 10 games and have scored eight or more runs in four of their last six.

The Rockies will turn to a rusty Antonio Senzatela, making his first major league start since May 2023 after nearly two years of dealing with significant injuries.

I’m confident the D'Backs will get to Senzatela early and easily, and I also expect the Rockies to score their share of runs off Merrill Kelly, who has given up 19 runs in his last five starts and holds a 5.25 ERA on the road this season.

Additionally, the weather reports suggest the wind will be in our favor.

The Houston Astros have been hot, averaging 5.9 runs per game over their last five outings. Angels' lefty Tyler Anderson gave up four runs in six innings when he faced them back in June.

Justin Verlander will be on the mound for Houston, but he’s regressed from last season, but he usually owns the Angels who have pretty much given up on the season.

Yankees right-hander Clarke Schmidt has made just one start since May after going on the IL with a right lat strain, but it was a sharp outing in which he held the Cubs scoreless over 4 2/3 innings. Schmidt has an impressive 2.34 ERA over 12 starts on the season.

Boston's right-hander Tanner Houck gave up four runs in five innings of an 8-3 loss at the Mets in his last start. The Red Sox have lost eight of his last nine starts, and now he'll face the AL East-best Yankees, who are looking to hold off the Orioles for the division title. 

5% PLAY ON THE YANKEES.

The Cleveland Guardians have scored 16 runs in their last three games, and while Rays right-hander Ryan Peplot has allowed a manageable six runs over 14 1/3 innings in his last three starts, he has struggled with the long ball.

Cleveland righty Gavin Williams gave up five innings in the first inning of a 7-2 loss to the Dodgers in his last start, and he has a 7.54 ERA over 22 2/3 innings of work at home at Progressive Field on the season.

The Diamondbacks are 32-17 as home favorites and right-hander Merrill Kelly is 2-0 with an ERA of 3.10 in his home starts. Rangers left-hander Cody Bradford has a 4.85 ERA over 13 innings on the road.

The Diamondbacks are in a dogfight for the Wild Card spots in the NL while the Rangers chances of making the playoffs are very slim.

Mets left-hander Sean Manaea gave up four runs in 6 2/3 innings against the Cincinnati Reds in his last start, but he also recorded nine strikeouts and has 25 strikeouts over his last three starts.

The Blue Jays are 6-1 to the under in their last seven games when facing a left-handed starter, and their own starter for this game, Bowden Francis, is coming in hot with just four runs allowed and 23 strikeouts across 21 innings in his last three starts.

The New York Mets are one of the hottest teams in baseball, but I think they're overvalued as a favorite in this matchup against the Toronto Blue Jays. Note that while the Jays have lost six of their last seven games, all but two of the losses came by one run.

The Cleveland Guardians are coming off a shutout loss against the Dodgers, but I think they'll put a lot of runs on the board tonight as the White Sox are expected to start Nick Nastrini who is 0-7 with a terrible 7.79 ERA in eight starts this season.

The Guardians are expected to hand the ball to Ben Lively who has an unimpressive 4.07 ERA in 25 starts, and the White Sox have scored 12 runs over their last two games.

The Royals are 13-12 as home underdogs.

Cardinals righty Erick Fedde has a 3.43 ERA on the season, and he has allowed only three runs over 10 2/3 innings in two home starts with the Mariners.

Fedde has held the Mariners to four runs across 11 innings in two meetings this season.

Seattle right-hander Bryce Miller gave up three runs in 4 2/3 innings in his last start, but he compiled a 2.22 ERA in five starts last month.

5% AL TOTAL OF THE WEEK MAX BET

The Chicago White Sox ended a 12-game skid with an 8-1 win in Baltimore on Wednesday.

Their bats had been ice cold leading up to that game, and I think runs will come at a premium again for the White Sox in this matchup against Nick Pivetta who is coming off six innings of two-run ball in Detroit.

The Red Sox have scored just eight runs through a five-game slide, and White Sox's right-hander Davis Martin has compiled a respectable 3.62 ERA in seven outings (six starts) this season.

EARLY 5% MLB INTERLEAGUE TOTAL OF THE MONTH MAX BET

The Toronto Blue Jays and hte Philadelphia Phillies combined for 19 runs in the opener of the series last night, but I think today's early matchup will be a low-scoring affair. 

Both starting pitchers are coming in hot, with Christopher Sanchez recording 18 strikeouts and six earned runs allowed over 20 2/3 frames across his last three starts while Bowden Francis has allowed just four runs across his last five starts while averaging 7.8 strikeouts per outing. 

The Phillies are 20-11 to the under after scoring seven runs or more in their previous game and 23-15 to the under as road favorites. 

5% PLAY ON THE UNDER. 

5% AL TOTAL OF THE YEAR MAX BET

The New York Yankees have scored 26 runs through their last four games and although Rangers left-hander Andrew Heaney has been on a heater, note that he has conceded 12 runs across his last three starts against the Bronx Bombers. 

Yankees left-hander Carlos Rodon has been inconsistent in recent starts. He has two scoreless outings in his past four starts and has allowed four and five runs in the other two. The Rangers bats have come alive and I think they'll stay hot.

The Milwaukee Brewers have won six of their last seven games and are 4-0 in Aaron Civale's last four starts. Civale had a 5.07 ERA in 17 starts with the Rays but a 3.72 ERA in nine starts since coming to Milwaukee. 

Cardinals left-hander Steven Matz has a 6.18 ERA in three starts on the season, and he has allowed 16 runs over just 12 2/3 innings across his last three starts. The Cards, unsurprisingly, lost all three games, and I think this will be another rough outing for Matz.

5% AL GAME OF THE MONTH MAX BET

This looks like a great spot to back the Kansas City Royals to end a five-game slide.

Michael Wacha was tagged with five runs in six innings of a 7-5 loss in Cleveland on Aug 28, but he is 6-1 with a 3.13 ERA in his home starts, and KC has won eight of his last 10 starts. 

Cleveland's right-hander Gavin Williams is 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA in his past three starts. 

5% PLAY ON THE ROYALS. 

4% DODGERS/D'BACKS MLB TOP PLAY OF THE DAY

I'm looking for a fired-up Arizona Diamondbacks squad to come out strong and avoid getting swept by the LA Dodgers. The Dodgers are handing the ball to top prospect Justin Wrobelski but note his shaky 5.17 ERA over 15 2/3 innings on the road.

The Diamondbacks will send Brandon Pfaadt to the mound. While he has struggled recently, allowing 14 runs over his last three starts, this feels like a prime bounce-back opportunity against a Dodgers team he limited to two runs with seven strikeouts over six innings when he faced them back in May.

Also, Pfaadt has shown how sharp he is in matinee outings, posting a solid 2.54 ERA over 56 2/3 innings. 

4% PLAY ON THE DIAMONDBACKS. 

5% NL TOTAL OF THE MONTH MAX BET

Brewers right-hander Frankie Montas gave up four runs over six innings at Oakland in his last start, and seven of his last nine starts have gone over the total. The Reds are expected to make this a bullpen game, which is not ideal following a doubleheader on Friday in which their relievers were asked to cover a decent amount of innings. 

The Brewers bats are on fire, and the Reds should also be able to contribute their fair share. 

5% PLAY ON THE OVER. 

5% MLB INTERLEAGUE TOTAL OF THE WEEK MAX BET

The Pittsburgh Pirates put up 23 runs in their three-game series against the Chicago Cubs, but they still lost all three games.

Tonight, Pittsburgh’s starter, Bailey Falter, has given up 11 runs in his last three outings, and the Guardians have been hitting lefties well all season. Cleveland is sending Ben Lively to the mound, who has allowed seven runs in his last three starts.

I expect both teams to put up a good number of runs tonight, pushing the final score over the posted total.

5% AL GAME OF THE WEEK MAX BET

This looks like a great spot to fade the slumping Los Angeles Angels who have lost seven in a row and 10 of their last 11. 

The Detroit Tigers, on the other hand, have won a season-best six consecutive games, and they're 4-0 in Keider Montero's last four starts, while the Angels are 1-4 in Jack Kochanowicz's five starts this season. 

5% PLAY ON THE TIGERS. 

5% MLB INTERLEAGUE TOTAL OF THE MONTH MAX BET

This is a bad time for Orioles right-hander Corbin Burnes to face off with the Dodgers after allowing 17 runs (16 earned) through his past three starts.

Dodgers right-hander Walker Buehler has also struggled, allowing 14 runs (11 earned) through his past three starts. 

Both teams are averaging over 5 runs per nine innings for the season, and I expect to see fireworks tonight after just five runs in the series opener last night.

I like the Arizona Diamondbacks to bounce back after their six-game winning streak came to an end with an 8-3 loss to the Mets on Tuesday. They'll hand the ball to left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez, who has compiled a 3.94 ERA in three starts after starting the season on the IL, with Arizona winning all three games. 

The Mets are 3-6 as underdogs against a left-handed starter and 2-4 in their right-hander Luis Severino's six starts as a road underdog. 

4% PLAY ON THE DIAMONDBACKS.

Padres right-hander Dylan Cease is 7-4 with a 3.69 ERA on the road and the team is 8-4 in his 12 starts as a road favorite. The Padres have won six of his last eight starts overall.

Cardinals righty Miles Mikolas is 1-5 with a 5.94 ERA at home.

Two red hot pitchers will square off on the mound, but I like the price we get on the Mariners and Bryce Miller who is 5-3 with an ERA of 2.09 in his home starts in 2024. The Mariners are 9-4 in his home starts and despite their recent struggles still a solid 6-1 in their last seven games as home favorites. 

The Mariners have had their struggles on the road, but they've been solid at home, and I expect them to come through for us tonight as they look to separate themselves from the Rays in the fight for a Wild Card.

5% ORIOLES/ASTROS AL GAME OF THE WEEK MAX BET 

Orioles right-hander Dean Kremer has pitched better on the road than at home, where he is 2-4 with an ERA of 4.85. The Orioles are 2-4 in Kremer's six starts as home favorites and also 2-4 in his last six starts overall. 

Astros left-hander Yusei Kikuchi has conceded only four runs across 16 2/3 innings over his last three starts, and the Astros have won his last five starts. 

5% PLAY ON THE ASTROS. 

4% MLB TOP PLAY OF THE DAY

Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Taijuan Walker has given up six runs on eight hits and six walks across 8 2/3 innings in two starts since missing two months due to injury. The Phillies are 0-7 in his last seven starts. 

The Phillies have the best home record in the MLB (42-23), but they're only three games above .500 on the road, and the Royals have the third-best home record in baseball.

Royals righty Michael Wacha is 2-0 with an ERA of 1.89 in his last three starts. Wacha is coming off six scoreless innings in Cincinnati, and I expect another strong outing from him here as he is 5-1 with a 3.14 ERA in his home starts.

This looks like a great spot to back the Atlanta Braves to bounce back from a 3-2 loss to the Phillies. 

Braves rookie right-hander Spencer Schwellenbach has recorded 44 strikeouts through his last five starts, and the Phillies have been going through a rough patch. 

Phillies left-hander Cristopher Sanchez is coming off a one-run, two-hit complete game against the Nationals, but he has allowed 15 runs in his last four starts, and the Phillies have lost four of his last six starts. 

5% PLAY ON THE BRAVES. 

5% AL GAME OF THE MONTH MAX BET

Oakland A's righty Joey Estes is 3-0 with an ERA of 2.40 in seven home starts on the season while covering 45 innings of work. The A's won six of those games, five as underdogs. 

The Rays counter with Shane Baz who has a 4.21 ERA overall on the season and a 4.26 ERA on the road. The Rays have lost three of his last four starts. 

The A's have won six of their past eight games and are 17-10 since the All-Star break.

Astros left-hander Yusei Kikuchi (6-9, 4.49 ERA) is 2-0 with a 2.70 ERA since coming over from the Toronto Blue Jays at the trade deadline. 

Red Sox righty Tanner Houck (8-8, 3.01 ERA) has an ERA of 4.58 in three starts this month and the Red Sox have lost his last five starts. 

The Astros have won nine of their last 10 games, including a three-game sweep of the Red Sox at Fenway Park last weekend.

The Miami Marlins scored just six runs through their three-game series against the Mets over the weekend, but I think their bats will come alive here against Arizona right-hander Brandon Pfaadt who has a 4.42 ERA in three starts for the month and an ERA of 4.24 in his road starts this season. 

Offensively, the Diamondbacks lead the majors with 656 runs scored and they're 68-51 to the over.

The San Francisco Giants are only 11-13 SU and 9-15 against the runline as road favorites.

Oakland left-hander JP Sears is 3-0 with a 1.71 ERA and 18 ks across while covering 21 innings in his last three starts.

Giants left-hander Blake Snell has posted a 1.27 ERA in his last three starts, but note his 5.08 ERA on the road.

The Giants are only 26-35 on the road on the season and A's Osvaldo Bido has conceded only two runs with 11 Ks over 12 innings in his last two outings.

4% NATS/PHILLIES MLB TOTAL TOP PLAY OF THE DAY

The Washington Nationals and the Philadelphia Phillies combined for 16 runs in the opener of this series on Thursday, and I think we'll see another high-scoring affair in Game 2 Friday night.

Nats left-hander Patrick Corbin has been lit up through his last three starts, with 18 runs allowed over 13 innings of work. Phillies righty Aaron Nola has not been particularly sharp in recent starts either, with nine runs allowed through 16 2/3 frames. 

The Phillies are trying to work out of a slump and have scored 22 runs and 30 hits over their last two games. They need to keep pressing and might cover this total by themselves, but while Phillies RL is an interesting bet I think the over offers more value. 

4% PLAY ON THE OVER. 

5% NL TOTAL OF THE WEEK MAX BET

We pushed with the under at nine runs in yesterday's matchup between the Dodgers and the Brewers, but I think the finale of this four-game series will see way fewer runs scored.

Brewers right-hander Tobias Myers (6-5, 2.79 ERA) has been phenomenal, but he's still only 1-3 in his past seven starts despite a 2.38 ERA.

Lack of run support could be an issue here as well for Myers as he'll face off with a fired-up Dodgers right-hander in Jack Flaherty (9-5, 2.97 ERA), who will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing outing against the Pittsburgh Pirates last on Friday

The Milwaukee Brewers have scored just eight runs in their last four games, and tonight they'll face a pitcher who is undervalued due to a slow start to the year. I believe Walker Buehler is a much better pitcher than his 5.84 ERA suggests, and the same can be said for Frankie Montas with his 5.10 ERA, as both pitchers have an xFIP lower than their season ERAs.

Cleveland left-hander Matthew Boyd will make his 2024 debut after recovering from Tommy John surgery. Boyd has posted a 0.83 ERA in five rehab starts this year in Cleveland's minor league system, and the Cubs should be a good matchup for him as they're 4-8 on the road and facing a left-handed starter.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are coming off a three-game sweep over the Pittsburgh Pirates, but now they're on the road against one of the best home teams in the major leagues. The Milwaukee Brewers are 33-22 at home on the season and Dodgers veteran left-hander Clayton Kershaw is still working his way back from a shoulder injury and has yet to reach five innings in any of his three starts. 

4% PLAY ON THE BREWERS.

The Houston Astros have scored 33 runs through a five-game winning streak but tonight they'll run into Rays right-hander Taj Bradley who is poised for a big outing following a couple of disappointing starts. On the season, Bradley has a 2.04 ERA home at Tropicana Field and I don't expect the Rays to put many runs on the board against left-hander Framber Valdez who has two 10 strikeout outings in his past three starts.

I absolutely love the price we get on the LA Dodgers in this matchup. Paul Skenses (6-1, 1.99 ERA) has had a sensational rookie season, but note that Dodgers' River Ryan has posted an ERA of 1.72 through his first three starts in the big leagues and the Dodgers have a much better team overall.

4% ASTROS/RED SOX MLB TOP PLAY OF THE DAY

The Houston Astros have lost three of Ronel Blanco's last four starts and he has an ERA of 6.00 through his last three starts. Red Sox righty Tanner Houck has also labored in recent starts, but the Red Sox have hot bats to bail him out if this turns into another rough day at the office.

Coors Field is widely recognized as a hitter's park, but the bookmakers know this, too, and adjust the total accordingly.

The over/under is 24-30-1 in Rockies' home games on the season and left-hander Austin Gomber (3-7, 4.66 ERA) has compiled a respectable ERA of 3.83 in his home starts this season.

Mets left-hander David Peterson (5-1, 3.47 ERA) has a 3.15 ERA in his road starts.

This looks like a fantastic spot to back the Baltimore Orioles following a disappointing 5-2 loss to the Blue Jays on Tuesday.

The Orioles are 23-9 as favorites off a loss as a favorite. 

Baltimore left-hander Trevor Rogers (2-10, 4.50 ERA) gave up five runs to Cleveland in his first start since acquired in a trade with the Marlins, but he posted a solid 3.38 in July.

Joining a strong team like the Orioles should do wonders for his motivation, and he's undervalued due to his poor record with the Marlins, where he didn't get much support.

The Blue Jays are 5-13 in their last 18 games against left-handed starters.

The Boston Red Sox are 4-0 to the over in their last four games and they scored five runs on 10 hits over five innings when they faced Royals righty Seth Lugo (13-5, 2.57 ERA) back on July 13. 

Red Sox right-hander Brayan Bello (10-5, 5.13 ERA) has allowed three runs or more in four of his last five starts.

5% AL EAST RUNLINE OF THE YEAR MAX BET

The Baltimore Orioles are perfect 7-0 SU and against the runline as road favorites in divisional matchups in 2024. Blue Jays right-hander right-hander Chris Bassitt (8-10, 4.02 ERA) has a 5.45 ERA in seven career starts against the Orioles and was charged with five runs on nine hits in four innings when he faced the at Baltimore last week. Grayson Rodriguez (13-4, 3.86) is 2-1 with a 3.68 in five career starts against the Jays, and he's held them to four runs over 12 2/3 innings in two starts this season, both ending in blowout wins for the Orioles.

The Philadelphia Phillies are coming off a 6-0 win over the Seattle Mariners, but it was just their second win in 10 games. The Los Angeles Dodgers have been only marginaly better lately going 4-6 in their last 10 games, but they are 14-7 on the season as favorites with a closing line of -120 to -150. This is also a revenge series for the Dodgers after getting swept in Philly earlier in the year. 

Lastly, since the start of the 2022 season, Aaron Nola has an ERA of 4.94 in five starts against the Dodgers.

This looks like a good spot to fade the Miami Marlins following their 7-0 win in Atlanta on Sunday. 

The Marlins are 4-8 in right-hander Roddery Munoz' (2-5, 5.45 ERA) starts in 2024 and Munoz has a 6.43 ERA at home.

The Reds turn to Nick Martinez (5-5, 3.65 ERA) who has a solid 2.20 ERA over 30 innings of work on the road. Sure, Martinez has made only five starts on 31 appearances in 2024, but the Reds won both of his starts when they closed as favorites, and the Reds are 8-4 as road favorites on the season. 

4% PLAY ON THE REDS. 

4% PHILLIES/MARINERS MLB TOP PLAY OF THE DAY

The Philadelphia Phillies are coming off six consecutive losses, and I'm not sure they should be favorites in this matchup, even with Zack Wheeler on the mound. Wheeler is boasting a 10-5 record with a 2.94 ERA on the season, but he gave up seven runs in his last start. Admittedly, as did Mariners right-hander Logan Gilbert (6.7, 3.11 ERA), but I think the price is right to back a Mariners team that has won six of its past eight games and fade a cold Phillies team.

The New York Mets are a solid 28-22 on the road and perfect 5-0 on the road with left-hander David Pererson on the mound. They've won eight of his last nine starts overall and the Los Angeles Angels are only 24-35 at home.

Red Sox righty Kutter Crawford has allowed a combined 11 runs through his last two starts, but this looks like a good spot to get back on track against a Texas Rangers team that has averaged only 2.8 runs per nine innings through its past five games.

The Rex Sox have averaged a solid 6.6 R/9 through their past five games, and I like the price we get on the short road favorite in this matchup.

Cubs left-hander Shota Imanaga has compiled an ERA of 1.93 through his last three starts. When Imanaga faced the Cardinals in June, he held them to one run on four hits over seven innings. 

Cardinals right-hander Kyle Gibson has a 4.02 ERA in his last three starts, but only one of those three starts were on the road (one earned run allowed) where he has an ERA of 3.13 on the season.

The Cubs put up 13 runs in a win over the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday, but has otherwise been cold at the plate of late. The same is true for the Cardinals despite scoring 10 runs in a win over the Texas Rangers yesterday.

The White Sox turn to Drew Thorpe who was slapped around big time his last time out with eight runs allowed in less than an inning.

Thorpe has an ERA of 8.53 in three home starts on the season and today he'll face a KC team that has averaged just under six runs per nine innings through its last 10 games.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are 4-1 in Tyler Glasnow's last five starts, and Glasnow has an ERA of 2.25 in 12 innings across two starts against the San Diego Padres this season.

The Padres are 1-4 in Matt Waldron's last five starts, and while he has a 2.61 ERA over 10 innings against the Dodgers in 2024, note that Waldron is 2-5 with an ERA of 4.33 in his home starts and the Dodgers are 25-15 as road favorites.

The Brewers counter with Colin Rea who is 6-2 with a 3.70 ERA and a 7-2 team record in his home starts. The Brewers are a solid 29-19 at home on the season.
