4% COMMANDERS/JETS NFLX TOP PLAY OF THE DAY

The Washington Commanders have listed Jayden Daniels as the starting QB and I think we'll might see a decent amount of reps from their starters. The NY Jets are unlikely to give their veteran QB Aaron Rodgers many, if any, reps in Week 1.

3% TEXANS/STEELERS NFLX BOOKIE BREAKER

The Pittsburgh Steelers are 18-4 SU in preseason games over the last six seasons (perfect 6-0 L2), and while the Texans are expected to give their starters some playing time, I expect Steelers HC Mike Tomlin to bring the winning mindset once again and get us an ATS cover at a minimum. 

3% PLAY ON THE STEELERS. 

3% PANTHERS/PATRIOTS NFLX BOOKIE BU$TER

Both teams will have a new head coach on the sidelines, and I think they'll want to see what they have to work with. The Pats might honestly have slightly better depth, especially at QB, but with a lot of uncertainty about who'll be playing and how many minutes, I don't think we can go wrong taking the points. 

3% PLAY ON THE PANTHERS. 

4* NFLX Game of the Week - Mike's Bills/Bears TOP PLAY

The Bills are 1-1 in preseason play following a 27-15 loss to the Steelers in Week 2. The Bears are also 1-1 following a 24-17 loss to the Colts last weekend. 

Buffalo HC Sean McDermott has a 13-7 preseason record in his career while Bears HC Matt Eberflus has a 4-1 record. 

Buffalo has more talent and depth, but McDermott knows where his team is at while Eberflus is still trying to establish a winning culture in Chicago. I think the Bears want this more.

Mike's Patriots/Titans NFLX BOOKIE BREAKER

The Patriots are coming off a 21-17 victory over the Green Bay Packers, but they were outgained 340-245 and here they'll face a Titans team with two motivated QBs battling for the backup quarterback position. We might also see Ryan Tannehill for a series or two.

Titans HC Mike Vrabel has a winning record two preseasons in a row, and he has a chance of recording a third straight winning preseason coming into this game 1-1.

5* NFLX Game of the Year - Mike's Steelers/Falcons MAX BET

The Steelers are coming off a 27-15 home win against the Bills. The Falcons are coming off a 13-13 draw against the Bengals.

Pittsburgh HC Mike Tomlin has an impressive 17-4 preseason record over the last five seasons while Atlanta HC Arthur Smith is 3-4 lifetime. 

Pittsburgh has great depth on QB with Mitch Trubisky and Mason Rudolph, and I expect them to control this game from start to finish.

Mike's Jaguars/Cowboys NFLX BOOKIE BREAKER

Jacksonville head coach Doug Pederson will be looking for a strong preseason outing after going 0-4 last season. Pederson announced earlier this week that his starters will play a series or two, including QB Trevor Lawrence. 

Dallas has a talented offense, but we're unlikely to see their starters much and they have a new offensive coordinator.

Mike's Vikes/Seahawks T.N.F. NFLX BOOKIE BU$TER

Can you really lay this kind of number in the preseason and feel good about it? I think so. Seattle veteran head coach Pete Carroll typically coaches to win even in exhibition games while Kevin O'Connell went 0-3 with the Vikes in his rookie season as HC. 

While we won't see many starters, keep an eye on Seattle backup QB Drew Locke who is a lot better backup than the Vikes Nick Mullens. All-in-all, I think Seattle has better depth, which of course is pretty much all that matters in the preseason.

MIKE'S LIONS/STEELERS NFLX TOP PLAY OF THE DAY

The Steelers are 2-0 in the preseason and I think they'll close it out with yet another win on Sunday. The Lions are expected to play their starters for at least one half, but starting QB Jared Goff will not take the field, and there is a big drop-off behind him.

The Steelers are expected to play their starters as well, including quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, and they also have Mason Rudolph and Kenny Pickett.

While the result doesn't matter, everyone will be looking to impress the coaching staff and Steelers' depth should get them the W. 

10* PLAY ON PITTSBURGH STEELERS. 

NFLX GAME OF THE WEEK  - MIKE'S 10* NINERS/VIKES MAJOR WAGER

The Niners opened their preseason with a 28-21 win over the Packers while Minnesota lost its preseason opener 26-20 to the Las Vegas Raiders last Sunday. Kirk Cousin was sidelined after testing positive for COVID-19, but the Vikes starting QB and other starters should get more reps today, especially in front of the home fans.

The Niners have a strong starting defense, but they lack depth and I can see the Vikings pile up the points here. 

10* PLAY ON MINNESOTA VIKINGS.

MIKE'S TNF BEARS/SEAHAWKS NFLX BOOKIE BU$TER

The Seahawks have announced that Geno Smith will get the start under center against the Bears. He'll be keen to impress and take the starting QB job from Drew Lock who will miss the game after testing positive for Covid-19.

Seattle HC Pete Carroll always coaches to win and has a 36-21 record against the spread in the preseason, a top-five record among NFL coaches. I'll think he'll go for it here after losing their preseason opener at Pittsburgh 32-25.

Bears' offensive starters will play just 6-10 snaps according to Chicago HC Matt Eberflus.

8* PLAY ON SEATTLE SEAHAWKS. 

MIKE'S PANTHERS/COMMANDERS NFLX BOOKIE BU$TER

The Panthers should have a strong preseason with veteran quarterbacks Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold both getting a lot of reps to determine who should be the starter for the season-opener.

Last season, Washington was great at stopping the run but they struggled against the pass. I like the Panthers to come out roaring in this one.

NFL PRESEASON BOOKIE BU$TER

The Baltimore Ravens are going for their 20th consecutive preseason victory. It would seem that coach John Harbaugh simply coaches to win no matter the setting and he knows how to get his players fired up for these types of games. Washington coach Ron Rivera has said he doesn't see any value in preseason wins and losses, as it's "all about how they play."

NFL PRESEASON BOOKIE BU$TER

Ravens' head coach John Harbaugh cares about preseason results. A lot. Harbaugh is 37-12 lifetime in preseason games, and he is an undefeated 17-0 dating back to the start of the 2016 season. Saints' head coach Sean Payton is 28-30 lifetime in preseason games. Harbaugh clearly tries more than other coaches in the preseason, and I expect the Ravens' winning streak to continue.

That being said, I would never advise betting big on any NFL preseason game.

FRIDAY NIGHT NFLX NO BRAINER

The Cleveland Browns look like a solid road favorite over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Friday night. 

The visitors must feel pretty good about themselves, heading into this contest with a perfect 2-0 record in preseason play. After several miserable seasons, they're looking to establish a winning culture and with the starters usually seeing plenty of action in Week 3, the Browns will have a solid edge. 

Tampa Bay has split a pair of close matchups with Pittsburgh and Miami. This team is simply not that good, and on top of that, the squad is banged up and will need to rest key players as it can not afford more injuries. The Buccaneers have struggled to defend the pass the last two seasons and with Cleveland QB Baker Mayfield expected to see a lot of action I think the Browns will move the ball with ease.

THURSDAY NIGHT PANTHERS @ PATRIOTS BOOKIE BLASTER

Historically, the third preseason game is usually treated as the dress rehearsal and more starters play, which I think will give the New England Patriots a massive edge here. 

New England QB Tom Brady hasn’t played in the preseason yet but has been quoted looking to get in the action. "I hope so," Brady said on his weekly radio appearance on WEEI. "Again, we had practice yesterday and we have practice today and then we will see what the coach decides. I hope to be out there. We'll see what happens". 

Whenever coach Bill Belichick decides that's enough, Brady's, backups Brian Hoyer and Jarrett Stidham are ready to take over and the duo has looked sharp in the first couple of games.

As for the Carolina Panthers, they'll have to be careful with starting QB Cam Newton who will make his first appearance following a season-ending shoulder injury. 

The Panthers beat the Patriots 25-14 last year in the third preseason week, but I think the roles will be reversed tonight.

TOP RATED SUNDAY NIGHT SEAHAWKS @ VIKINGS MAJOR WAGER

The Seattle Seahawks have a decent overall preseason record in recent years, but they went 0-4 in exhibition play last year and I think they'll take a loss here, after opening the year with a 22-14 win over Denver. 

The Minnesota Vikings went 3-1 last preseason and they are 18-4 SU (15-7 ATS) over their last 22 exhibition games. They opened the season with a 34-25 triumph over New Orleans and starting QB Kirk Cousins finished 4-for-4 with 65 yards and a touchdown pass. The Vikings also pounded their opponent on the ground and I expect to see more from Cousins and the other starters as Mike Zimmer clearly likes a strong preseason to set the tone.

Seattle QB Russell Wilson did not play a down in Week 1 and expects to make his 2019 preseason debut here. Head coach Pete Carroll plans to play all his healthy starters, although probably not more than a quarter, and I still like the deeper Vikings in this contest.

CHIEFS VS STEELERS BOOKIE BREAKER

The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 30-28 in Week 1 of the 2019 preseason, and coach Mike Tomlin has already said more of the starters will be used in Week 2.

They're 7-2 in their last nine preseason games and look good to pick up another win here. Note that this will be the Steelers last game home at Heinz Field before the regular season kicks off, so I'm sure they'll be up for this one. 

As for the visiting Kansas City Chiefs, they opened the 2019 preseason with a dominant 38-17 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. Starting QB Patrick Mahomes went 4-for-4 for 66 yards but is unlikely to see any action in this contest as head coach Andy Reid will want to see more from backups Chase Litton and rookie Kyle Shurmur.

Look for a fired-up Steelers side to get the W in front of the home town crowd.

TOP RATED 10* DOLPHINS @ BUCS BEST BET

The Miami Dolphins looked great in their Week 1win over the Falcons! Or did they, or were their opponent simply weak? Note that Atlanta is 0-3 on the preseason with losses to Denver (14-10), Miami (34-27) and the New York Jets (22-10). 

The Dolphins will face a much tougher opponent here in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who didn't look all that bad in their 30-28 loss at the Pittsburgh Steelers last Friday. They outgained the Steelers 479-339 and I expect the Bucs offense to fire on all cylinders here in front of the home town crowd. 

Additionally, with two first-year coaches in Brian Flores (Dolphins) and Bruce Arians (Bucs) I think both will want to see what they have to work with, turning this into an exciting shootout.

GAME OF THE WEEK (NFLX): MIKE'S TOP RATED THURSDAY NIGHT ATS ANNHILATOR

Most head coaches could not care less about preseason results, but that's certainly not the case with Baltimore's John Harbaugh who is undefeated over his last 14 exhibition games with the Ravens. They shut out Jacksonville in a 29-0 triumph in Week 1 and look good to pick up another favorable result here against Green Bay on Thursday. 

The Packers have a first-year coach in Matt LaFleur. The pressure might be off a bit after opening the preseason with a 28-26 victory at Lambeau Field against Houston. They had no trouble scoring against the Texans, but points won't come nearly as easy against this sturdy Baltimore defense.

THURSDAY NIGHT EAGLES @ JAGS NFLX BOOKIE BLASTER

The Philadelphia Eagles lost 27-10 to the Tennessee Titans in Week 1 while the Jacksonville Jaguars took a 29-0 beating by the hands of Baltimore. 

While preseason results mean next to nothing, I still think the Jags will be up for this game after that shutout defeat, particularly as they get to play in front of the home town crowd. 

We can also note that Jacksonville won its final three preseason games after dropping last year’s opener while the Eagles lost three straight to open the 2018 preseason.

NFLX BATTLE OF NEW YORK ~ JETS VS. GIANTS

The New York Jets look like a solid favorite over city rival New York Giants at MetLife Stadium Thursday night. This will be the first preseason game for both teams, and the Jets must like their chances of finally beating the Giants after losing the last four preseason matchups. 

The Jets are fairly deep on the QB position with Trevor Siemian backing up Sam Darnold and it will be interesting to see how much RB Le'veon Bell will play after sitting out the entire 2018 season. "It's a fine line with Le'Veon. He hasn't played in a year," coach Adam Gase said, via the New York Post. "At the same time, when's the right time? Is it this game? Is it the next one? ..."

I expect Gase to want to get Bell up to speed ASAP and the Jets to roll over a banged up Giants team that has suffered a handful of injuries in the early stages of training camp.

BRONCOS VS. FALCONS HALL OF FAME GAME

The Denver Broncos have flipped from an underdog to a favorite here in the Hall Of Fame Game, and for a good reason IMO. They have some interesting talent battling for the backup QB spot behind Joe Flacco (who will be rested here). Kevin Hogan, who was 43-of-67 passing for 462 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions for the Redskins last preseason has been named the starter for Thursday, but rookie second-round pick Drew Lock will also be eager to show off his skills. 

We can also note that Denver has hired Vic Fangio as its new head coach. Fangio led the Bears’ No. 1 defense in 2018 and if anyone can get Denver's D back on track it's him. 

I'm sure Fangio will put more emphasis on this contest than Atlanta head coach Dan Quinn who is 4-12 ATS overall in the preseason with the Falcons (0-8 ATS the last two years).

NFLX BOOKIE BREAKER

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh simply loves winning preseason games. He's 31-12 SU throughout his career and undefeated through the last three seasons. This is the Ravens fourth preseason matchup and we can expect to see the starters get plenty of time on the gridiron here in the dress rehearsal.  

The Miami Dolphins have struggled through their first two games, first losing 26-24 against Tampa Bay before taking a 27-20 loss at Carolina last week. Starting QB Ryan Tannehill and the first-team offense are expected to play into the third quarter, but backup quarterback Bryce Petty was held out of Thursday’s practice because of an oblique injury. 

Ravens are 8-0 ATS in their last 8 meetings and have better depth.

RAIDERS @ RAMS BOOKIE BREAKER *TOP PLAY*

Oakland Raiders head coach Jon Gruden is 31-16 in preseason games and he led the Raiders to a 16-10 home win over the Lions last week. Oakland Detroist just 253 total yards, including 88 yards on the ground. The Rams took a 33-7 loss to the Ravens on the road last week and neither QB in the rotation had much success, despite the motivation of fighting for a backup role behind Jared Goff. 

Oakland has a deep QB rotation with Derek Carr, Connor Cook and EJ Manuel. Cook and Manuel are fighting for the backup spot behind Carr. Cook hit 11-of-10 passes for 141 yards and a TD against Detroit while Manuel hit 4-of-6 for 46 yards. 

Take the points on Oakland.

BEARS @ RAVENS *TOP PLAY*

Handicapping preseason NFL is never easy, but I think we have a solid reason to back Ravens here with Baltimore coach John Harbaugh owning a 28-12 preseason record overall and going 4-0 both in 2016 and 2017. Chicago head coach Matt Nagy (former Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator) on the other hand has no experience being in charge of an NFL team.

TOP RATED 10* NFLX GAME OF THE YEAR

The Minnesota Vikings trailed San Francisco 14-0 at half time in Week 3 but came back to beat the 49ers 32-31 with a 2-point conversion on the final play of the game here at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. Just more evidence of how much Minnesota head coach Mike Zimmer cares about these preseason games (2-1, this year, 14-2 all time).

The Miami Dolphins on the other hand are coming off a 38-31 setback at Philadelphia last week to fall to 1-2 in the preseason. They've allowed 69 points and 808 yards through their last two games, and that won't cut it here against a Vikings team looking to keep the momentum going. 

The Vikings have a solid D and Miami must be careful with QB Jay Cutler as they've already lost Ryan Tannehill for the year.

NFLX Saturday *BANKROLL BUILDER*

The Cleveland Browns travel to Tampa Bay to take on the Buccaneers in Week 3 of preseason action Saturday night. The Browns have held the Giants and the Saints to a total of just 20 points through back-to-back victories, but I think they'll come up short here against the Bucs. 

Tampa Bay has split its two games with a 23-12 defeat at Cincinnati followed by a 12-8 win at Jacksonville last Thursday. They have a big rest advantage as the Browns played Monday against the Giants. It's also worth noting that they will play in front of the home town crowd for the first time this season, and they have a solid QB in Jameis Winston who completed 21-of-29 passes for 196 yards in the last game and should get plenty of time on the field here in Week 3. 

The Browns will give rookie quarterback DeShone Kizer the start under center. They must feel pretty good with a 2-0 record in the preseason, but it's a very deceptional record, and it should all change here in Week 3 when each team's starters get more playing time.

Friday Night NFLX *MONEYMAKER*

The New England Patriots are 0-2 in the preseason, but I think they'll turn up the tempo here at Detroit in Week 3. 

We're likely to see more of Tom Brady and the other starters, and then they're simply a much better team than Matthew Stafford and the Lions who are unbeaten through their two warmup games so far. 

The Lions may have been solid on the defensive side of the ball, but they've not looked all that good offensively averaging 20 points per game. The Pats have scored a total of 47 points despite losing twice, and I think their defense will improve enough this week to make Pats the play.

Play: Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens' started their preseason with a dominant 23-3 victory against Washington home at Baltimore last week, and head coach John Harbaugh is now boasting a 25-12 preseason record. 

The Miami Dolphins managed to beat Atlanta 23-20 at home in their preseason opener Thursday night, but had to outscore their opponent 33-0 in the fourth to get the victory. 

The Ravens are 7-0 ATS in their last seven head-to-head meetings and they've covered five straight games at Miami.

It's usually tough for teams to get their offense going in the preseason games, giving teams with the better defense the advantage. In this contest that's definitely the Ravens' (note that they limited the Redskins to 138 yards of total offense in Week 1), and I also like the fact that Harbaugh takes the preseason seriously. 

My selection is a 10* play on Baltimore Ravens +3.

Play: Houston Texans

The Dallas Cowboys have made it clear that Dak Prescott will not play in this game, and I've seen reports suggest that they'll rest every starter in this contest. With Tony Romo out that leaves the team with just one available QB (Jameil Showers), and this looks like a good spot to back the Houston Texans. 

The Texans came away with a 34-24 win over the Cardinals in an incredible performance by Brock Osweiler last week. Osweiler might not get all that many snaps here in week 4, but I think the Texans have a deeper team on both sides of the ball. Dallas will be more concerned about not sustaining any more injuries while the Texans will be looking to defend their perfect record here in the preseason.

How often do you get spotted a field goal while backing the New England Patriots? Both teams expected to rest plenty of starters (obviously) and then it comes down to coaching and roster depth. Advantage the Patriots in both those areas IMO, and this is a no-brainer play on the Patriots plus the points.

The Baltimore Ravens have opened the preseason with back-to-back wins, a 22-19 victory over the visiting Panthers before edging a 19-18 game at Indianapolis last week. I think they'll face a tougher test tonight in the Detroit Lions. Detroit has allowed a total of 47 points in losing both its games so far, but I expect the Lions to step up their game here in week 3 as Tavon Wilson has been moved into the No. 1 spot at strong safety. I don't give much credit to the Ravens perfect record as it's first here in week 3 (most) teams start to care. Take the points on the Lions.

The Dallas Cowboys are catching a ton of points at Seattle Thursday night, and I think the they'll cover this line with ease. 

The Cowboys have two hot QBs in Tony Romo and Dak Prescott. The team has averaged 32.5 points per game, more than any other team in the preseason. The Seahawks have averaged just 14 points per game while defeating the Chiefs by one point and losing 18-11 to the Vikings in week 2. Russell Wilson has a lowly 47% completion percentage and he's still without a single touchdown while getting picked off once. We can also note that Wilson has been sacked for 41 yards lost. 

Cowboys are 7-2 ATS in the last nine head-to-head meetings, and I expect them to play the Seahawks hard here in week 3 of the preseason.

Play: Denver Broncos
Rating: 5*

It's always risky to back a favorite in the NFL preseason, but I have several favorable angles for this pick on the Denver Nuggets. First of all, Denver head coach Gary Kubiak is not one to take the preseason lightly. He has a 22-14 overall record SU (7-2 in Week 2). Secondly, while both teams are looking for their starting QB, Denver has way more depth in that department. Both Mark Sanchez and Trevor Siemian are coming off strong performances in Week 1's 22-point victory in Chicago. Denver will as always have a solid D, and the 49ers are simply outmatched in this contest.

Play: Arizona Cardinals
Rating: 5*

Two teams that struggled in Week 1 of the NFL preseason will do battle at Qualcomm Stadium Friday night. The Arizona Cardinals suffered a 31-10 home defeat at the hands of the Raiders while the San Diego Chargers lost their preseason opener 27-10 to the Titans.

Neither Carlton Palmer or backup QB Drew Stanton saw much action for Arizona last week, but I think we'll see more of them tonight. Philip Rivers looked decent for the Chargers in Week 1, but they have a weak team without much depth. It does not help that first round draft pick Joey Bosa who was expected to come in and play a big role for the Chargers is still holding out on the club. 

I don't even think the Chargers should be favored in this contest, so take the points on the Cardinals or play them straight up.

Play: Minnesota Vikings
Rating: 5*

The Vikings are 9-1 in preseason under head coach Mike Zimmer and 7-0 ATS in their last seven preseason games. QB Teddy Bridgewater impressed when they defeated the Bengals 17-16 in their preseason opener when he completed six of his seven passes for a total of 92 yards and a TD. I have high expectations for Bridgewater this season, and combined with a solid D Minnesota will definitely be a team to keep an eye on. Seattle won its preseason opener 17-16 as well as they came from behind late to beat the Chiefs. It was far from a convincing performance from the Seahawks though and both starting QB Russell Wilson and backup QB Trevor Boykin struggled behind center while the Vikings have good depth on the QB position. The Vikings put more emphasis on the preseason than the Seahawks, and I would not be surprised to see them win this one outright, but taking the field goal and a half seems like the an sharper move.

The 49ers will have to adjust to new head coach Chip Kelly and they look pretty weak under center. Houston meanwhile has brought in Brock Osweiler who has done excellent when filling in for Peyton Manning at Denver in recent seasons. While there's a risk he might not get that many snaps today, I'm counting on Bill O’Brien to give his new starting QB a fair amount of time on the field. We can note that the Texans won last year's preseason meeting 23-10, and I think they'll get the better of the Niners again tonight. This has turned into a no-brainer now when we can get half a point over a field goal on the visitors.

NFL Preseason *SATURDAY SMASHER*
Play: Tennessee Titans
Rating: 5*

Both teams are coming off a miserable campaign. This season should be better for the Titans though with a more experienced Marcus Mariota + running back DeMarco Murray and veteran receiver Andre Johnson added to the mix. The trio might not play that much tonight, but the Titans will surely enter this game and the season in positive spirits. 

The Chargers are coming off a rough season as well, and there are some distractions bothering them heading into this contest. First-round draft pick Joey Bosa, a star linebacker out of Ohio State, is still holding out on the club and that's a a headache the Chargers could do without. Tennessee has an interesting team, and I think it'll come out ahead in this contest.

Detroit has posted 3-1 SU records in preseason both in 2014 and 2015 under head coach Jim Caldwell, so I think he'll come into this game looking for a result. The Steelers' dito Mike Tomlin is 1-3, 0-4 and 1-4 in preseason over the last three years. The Steelers enter the game depleted on the defensive side and the Lions offense has shown some bite in training camp. I like the Lions to cover and also threaten to win outright.

I like the Arizona Cardinals here in week 4 of the NFL preseason. The Denver Broncos enter the game with a 3-0 record for the preseason and knows where they're at. Starters will be rested to avoid injuries as they'll face a tough Ravens team in the regular season opener. The Cardinals opened the preseason with back-to-back losses but defeated the Raiders 30-23 their last game. They have good depth for the QB slot and I like their chances of covering the spread here.

- Denver is 1-3-1 ATS in its last five games in September.

The Denver Broncos have started the preseason with back-to-back wins against the Texans and the Seahawks and I think they'll record a third one tonight as we can expect to see plenty of Peyton Manning behind center. The San Francisco 49ers opened their preseason with a 23-6 win against the Cowboys but lost 23-10 at Houston last week in a game where they gave up a total of 400 yards. It won't be any easier here and I expect the Broncos to win by quite some margin. We can note that Denvers coach Gary Kubiak is 20-13 in preseason games throughout his career.
