Padres starter Robbie Ray began the year in his first start with a loss against the New York Yankees. That outing was way back on March 27th, where the game shifting play was a two run home run by Aaron Judge. Of course Judge remains out of the lineup, and I expect the Padres to find a way to win tonight against a Yankees team that played extra innings Friday and Saturday. It’s just the second time this year the Yankees have been involved in extra inning games on consecutive nights. That comes into play on their West Coast road trip. Tail the Padres.

The Philadelphia Phillies have won five straight games because of their pitching staff. In all five wins they have allowed three runs or less, and two runs or less in four of the victories. This while the bats have been flat, they needed extra innings to beat the Angels on Saturday, and a grand slam by Edmundo Sosa on Sunday. Yesterday, they scored two early runs against the Dbacks and did not score again. Look for the bats to come alive, and the Ketel Marte return to continue to be a disruption for Arizona. The Detroit Tigers have lost five straight series, and are just 3-12 over their last fifteen games. They are definitely a team you really can only eye for specific games, and today is one of them. Taj Bradley he has struggled with giving up runs early in the month of August. He gave up runs in his first three starts in August in the first inning, and in his last start gave up two runs in the second inning to the Athletics. Since May, Bradley has given up three home runs in a game just once and that was the Detroit. Back the Tigers as the road underdog.

The Athletics have won their last two home series, after not winning a home series since April. They have some work to do against the Orioles after losing in extra innings last night. Shane Baz has seen the Orioles lose each of his last seven starts, and the Athletics scored five runs off of him in April. Back the Athletics to even the series as the home underdog.

The Atlanta Braves are going for a sweep over the LA Dodgers. Both games they have had the key late run that decided one run victories. Tuesday they scored a run in the eighth, and yesterday hit the walk off single in the ninth. Yammatto is a pitcher that has handled the heaviest work load of any pitcher this year, as he leads MLB in average innings pitched per game. That has an impact in a tough road spot. Grab the Braves to complete the sweep. 

The Cincinnati Reds had the typical travel flat game with Monday’s shutout loss against the Giants. They seemed to have a lingering effect of blowing Sunday’s 3-0 lead against the Arizona Diamondbacks. We have seen this pattern time and time again with the Reds post All Star break, and they respond. Off a shutout loss they are 5-0 in the second half of the season. The Reds get back in the win column.

I’m typically not one to get in the way of a win streak, but breaking that rule tonight. The Philadelphia Phillies are on a nine game win streak, but got away with a miracle win in yesterday’s thriller over St. Louis. Zack Wheeler has not recorded a win Post All Star break. As we did last week when Seattle lost by twenty two runs to the Brewers, will back them again after losing by seventeen runs yesterday. Logan Gilbert gets his third win in a row for the first time this season. 

The Kansas City Royals overall record has let them fly under the radar for their home success post All Star break. They are 12-4 at home, and have matched a season best five game winning streak. They forced Troy Melton out early on July 23rd as he had four walks through five innings. Even with some key injuries to their lineup, look for the Royals to get a season best sixth win in a row.

The Seattle Mariners were flat out embarrassed in yesterday’s 22 to 0 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers. They had nearly as many errors with four as total team hits with five. Logan Gilbert just showed us he can carry the burden with his arm leading the Mariners to a 1 to 0 win his last start against the Yankees. This was also the result the last time he faced the Brewers, in which he had ten strikeouts. Back Seattle as a slight underdog.

I believe we are getting a lower total offered in St. Louis versus Cincinnati based on the under being 6-1 over the last seven matchups. One of the matchups that did go over was with Matthew Liberatore on the mound, in a 6 to 5 game. Chase Burns has also been a bit more susceptible recently against the Guardians, and gave up five runs two starts ago against the Nationals. Take the over here on 8.5.

The Boston Red Sox recently a 27 and 4 stretch, two of those losses were against Athletics starter Gage Jump. Jump outside of those two wins has been very inconsistent, and has a home ERA over 6. Additionally, the Athletics have lost seven straight home series, and eight straight games at home. Grab the Rangers who bounce back after three straight losses to the Angels.

In the Field of Dreams game the Twins will battle the Philadelphia Phillies. The price point is near even, but I’m looking for the Twins to cash. Philadelphia has lost consecutive games where they have scored just one total run as a team. They also had a tough stretch where they played two extra inning games over the weekend, including their longest game of the season on Sunday of twelve innings. Take the Twins behind veteran Taj Bradley. 

The Boston Red Sox have won seven of the last eight starts by Ranger Suarez. He also had his best outing of the season against the Blue Jays where he went eight innings and gave up just one hit. Right now though the market has not readjusted on the Red Sox. We are still getting the 26-4 streak price points. This Blue Jays lineup may be dealing with injuries but they are 6 and 2 over the last eight matchups against Boston. Grab Toronto once again for a plus payout.

The Orioles lost to their former pitcher in Dean Kremer on Monday. A game that got out of hand they did show some life with four runs from the eighth inning on. Look for the Orioles to test Bailey Ober’s strong home stats where he is 5-0, with a 2.72 ERA. Back the Orioles to even the series.

Over the San Diego Padres last five series they are 4-0-1. At home they are also 9 and 2 over their last eleven games. This should be a spot where Casey Miss can settle in after a rough debut for the Padres against the Diamondbacks. One of his four wins on the season came against the Brewers in April, a game he gave up just three hits. Back the home underdog Padres.

The LA Dodgers ended a season long seven game losing streak in yesterday’s extra inning win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. They will now see Eduardo Rodriguez who has won his last two outings over the Dodgers. Yet, this is a different Dodgers team right now working their way back out of a slump. It also may be a good thing that closer Edwin Diaz is likely not available, as he pitched the last two nights and blew the game Friday and nearly cost the Dodgers Saturday. Take the Dodgers on the money line. 

The Seattle Mariners continue to be listed strong in the futures market, despite being five games below .500. The talent that they have has under achieved but there’s time left to step up. I expect that today against a Rays team that’s worst stretch this season came on their initial West Coast Road trip where they lost five out of six games against the Angels/Dodgers. Take the Mariners in game two over the Rays. 

There are teams that can catch fire even after being sellers at the trade deadline. Detroit traded away Casey Mize and Tarik Skubal, but have won five out of their last six games. Three of those have been in lopsided shutout fashion, including yesterday’s 11-0 win against Seattle. Playing their third straight West Coast road series, the Tigers do get to see a Giants team using an opener at pitcher. Take the Tigers to continue their unexpected post trade deadline success.

Wednesday, for the second time in their current series against the Padres, the Dbacks cashed as a home underdog. They are now ten games above .500 at home, with the same home record as the LA Dodgers at 33-23. Still, I expect this series to be a split as the season long track record shows, with Arizona having won five out of the nine games. The Diamondbacks have not pushed new starter Kohl Drake beyond five innings, and that puts the bullpen in a vulnerable spot. In Drake’s three starts all opponents have scored five runs or more, and are averaging 7.5 runs. Grab the Padres.

One thing I try to avoid is going against a team on a win streak. The Atlanta Braves cashed for the seventh straight game in yesterday’s win over the Marlins. Today’s play is not about the trust in Martin Perez. He is coming off just allowing one hit his last start, and the Marlins did give him difficulties earlier in the season. Yet, I trust the Braves lineup that is getting timely hits from the top, middle, and bottom of the order as we saw Dubon and Riley deliver yesterday. Back the Braves here.

The Boston Red Sox cashed as the most lopsided victory of Tuesday’s slate with a 14-2 win over the White Sox. As the strongest and most popular team in MLB in the betting markets over the last month, they find themselves as slight favorites Wednesday. Sonny Gray may be second in baseball in wins, but he has shown vulnerability over his last two starts. Back the White Sox to end the Red Sox win streak.

The Toronto Blue Jays had lost four straight starts by today’s starting pitcher in Trey Yesavage, until his last outing against the Nationals. That start was the first of four wins over the Blue Jays last five overall, their best stretch since June 22nd. Tuesday, Toronto continues their road series against the Houston Astros, a team that Yesavage gave up five walks against on June 24th. Take the Astros to win game two over the Blue Jays.

The trade deadline can have an impact on teams. A year ago Arizona was a team that before the deadline lost nine out of ten games. Once the deadline came and went they got back on track as a team. They are coming off their first shutout loss since June 16th, and an area I’ve discussed of strong value for the Dbacks is in play tonight. In game one at home following a road trip they are 7 and 0 on the season. Tail the Dbacks on a lower price point tonight.

The Seattle Mariners won by one run in yesterday’s win against the Minnesota Twins. Sunday, they will attempt to win consecutive games for the first time since July 20th. I fully expect George Kirby to bounce back from giving up seven runs his last outing against the Texas Rangers. Taj Bradley may have another effective outing especially in the strikeouts department, but back the Mariners to gain another win.

Today is one of the rare times the Washington Nationals are a slim  market price against a top level team in the Atlanta Braves. The market is even over riding the National’s poor bullpen with Foster Griffin on the mound. In each of Griffin’s last seven starts the National’s have won, and that would be twelve straight outings if the National’s bullpen did not allow ten runs to the San Francisco Giants on June 10th. Back the National’s as they get game two over the Braves.

Hayden Wesneski makes his season debut for the Astros after five strong rehab starts in the minors. Houston has found a way to win late in both victories over the Angels on Monday and Tuesday, and now will see one of the top struggling pitchers in MLB in Grayson Rodriguez. One of Rodriguez’s solid outings was against the Astros on June 8th where he gave up just two runs, and the Angels lost in extra innings. Take the Angels as a value play as they could be easily going for the sweep tonight.

Regrouping after a tough loss that was self inflicted is tough for any team. But to lose as a bottom place team in the way the LA Angels did yesterday compounds matter. They had a critical error, followed up by a bases loaded walk, and lost in extra innings. Peter Lambert is a home town kid that grew up twenty minutes away from Anaheim, he actually won the 2015 LA Times prep player of the year. Take the Astros to get the best of the Angels once again as slight favorites. 

The Baltimore Orioles travel to face Detroit off a tough series against the Atlanta Braves. Sometimes tough series build a team going forward, as all three games were decided by one run against Atlanta. Kyle Bradish has been very consistent over his last five starts, not allowing more than five hits over his last four. Take the Orioles on a market condensed money line offering for the road team.

Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Bryan Woo has had his issues on the road this season with an era of 6.28. Since getting a win at Houston on May 12th, Seattle has lost each of the last five road starts from Woo. In what is an important series for Seattle, I expect Woo’s road woes to end today. Nathan Eovaldi is coming off giving up three home runs his last start against Atlanta, and Texas has lost five out of his last six starts against Seattle. Back the Mariners.

The Baltimore Orioles swept the Atlanta Braves a season ago and have won five out of the last six matchups against Atlanta. This includes Grant Holmes start a season ago where Jackson Holiday went four for four at the plate, and hit the key deciding home run off of Holmes. Take the Orioles who have won Trevor Rogers last five starts on the moneyline.

The LA Dodgers are a team that typically responds off a loss and a low production at the plate. The last four instances they have scored one run or been shutout, they have followed up with 7, 8, 12, and 15 runs. They’ve also won all seven starts with Eric Lauer on the mound since trading for him from Toronto. That gives us some value to back the Phillies as a rare home underdog, in what will be a hot evening in Philadelphia. Back the Phillies to gain another win over the Dodgers.

The Miami Marlins lost Saturday as a bigger underdog then they are today with their top ace on the mound in Max Meyer. Now at five consecutive losses , they are looking to avoid being swept for the second series in a row. It’s a tall task against the Brewers who have the second most wins in baseball, but also a buy low spot as the Marlins had the most wins in June, and a six game win streak in July. Back the Marlins as the slight underdog.

The Detroit Tigers went into All Star break losing in shutout fashion against the Philadelphia Phillies. Now they will travel into the Pacific Time Zone for just their third series this year. They’ve lost their last four games in that scenario, where they were swept by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Take the Angels as Reid Detmers bounces back tonight. 

The Miami Marlins had the most wins in MLB in the month of June, and had a six game winning streak snapped by the Cleveland Guardians. The Guardians pitching has limited the Marlins to just three total runs through the first two games. Value play here on Cleveland as the Marlins have not been swept at home yet this season.

Seattle is coming off being swept by the Miami Marlins, as they head into their final series before the All Star break against the Rays. At .500 the Mariners have done a great job at avoiding an extended losing streak. Currently at three losses in a row, they have not had a losing streak beyond that since April 17th. Veteran pitcher Nick Martinez has also struggled the last two seasons against Seattle where he has lasted just four innings and 4 2/3. Back Seattle here.

The San Francisco Giants took two bad losses in a row to the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday and Wednesday. This included losing with their top ace on the mound in Logan Webb 10-0. Now they’ll face a Colorado team they just lost two of three games to last week. I’ll buy the low spot here as the Giants regroup even using Carson Whisenhunt as starter for just the second time this season. Take the Giants here. 

Washington’s problematic bullpen nearly blew a big lead in yesterday’s win against the Houston Astros. They were able to hold on and win 12 to 11. Today their bullpen will be relied on even more, as Andrew Alvarez has a maximum innings range of four to five total. Take the Astros who have won three straight road starts with Tatsuya Imai on the mound.

Seattle as a team had just two hits in yesterday’s win over the Angels. They’ll host a Toronto team that had Luis Castillo’s number in three starts a season ago. He gave up five runs in one start, matched a season worst ten hits allowed in another, and took the loss in game four of the ALCS with the Mariners up two games to one. Back Toronto to continue to have Castillo’s number.

The Texas Rangers had their six game winning streak snapped in yesterday’s loss to the Cleveland Guardians. They still remain in first place in the AL West, but will see a familiar face tonight in Framber Valdez. The former Astros pitcher saw his old team win in both his starts a season ago against Texas. Going back further Valdez’s team has defeated the Rangers four straight times in the regular season. Back the Tigers here.

Josh Bell has been a game changer when it comes to facing the Houston Astros this season. He has hit three of his ten home runs against them, including two of today’s starter in Tatsuya Imai. Taj Bradley missed the original series in May when he was on the IL, but had two fantastic starts against Houston a year ago. This included his best strikeout performance of last year with ten strikeouts at Houston. Take the Twins.

The Athletics off of consecutive losses to the Angels, have now dropped to fourth place in the AL West division. They’ve lost six out of their last eight games, where in five of those losses they have scored two runs or less. Eric Lauer has seen the Dodgers win all four of his starts since coming over from Toronto in early June. Yet, the Athletics saw him to begin the season on March 29th, and have won three straight game one’s at home. Take the Athletics.

The biggest surprise in the month of June have been the Miami Marlins. They lead MLB with 18 wins so far this month, and have won eight out of their last nine games. That creates a fade spot today, against a St. Louis team that I expect an increase of run production at the plate. They’ve scored just one run in this series, and over their last three games against the Marlins have scored just two total runs. Back St. Louis to end their four game skid.

The Athletics picked up a big win yesterday in comeback fashion against the San Francisco Giants. They now travel to Angel Stadium, where JT Ginn will face the Angels lineup a second consecutive start. He has yet to get a win on the year against the Angels in two starts, but did have a career high ten strikeouts at Angel Stadium on May 18th. Back the Athletics here as they get a second straight win. 

The Arizona Diamondbacks picked up a big win yesterday, sparked by four runs in the top of the ninth. The bullpen barely held on for a 4-3 victory. Now the ball club goes into today knowing the bats have to produce, as Mitch Bratt will get his first start in the big leagues. After seeing St. Louis win seven of eight games at home, this is a fade spot with Matthew Liberatore having a June era of 10.45.

The St. Louis Cardinals gained another home win on Monday, 3 to 2 over the Arizona Diamondbacks. They have now won seven out of their last eight games at home. Even with that they have scored three runs or less at home in four straight games. The plays into Diamondbacks ace Eduardo Rodriguez who is sixth in ERA on the season. In his last thirteen starts, Arizona has won eleven games. Back the Diamondbacks in game two against St. Louis.

Throughout the Boston Red Sox and Seattle Mariners series, the price points offered on the moneyline for Boston have not been indicative of a team that was fourteen games below .500. The Red Sox have won the first two games in the series, and will try and complete their third road sweep of the year. Back Boston, as they continue to find a way to outlast the Mariners.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are home favorites tonight based on being nine games above .500 at home. They also have their team leaders red hot at the plate with Ketel Marte extending his hit streak to eight games last night. Corbin Caroll just in his last two games has hit a grand slam, and went 4 for 4 Friday night. Yet, I expect the Dbacks to extend Zac Gallen one inning to many off of yesterday’s extended bullpen usage with Michael Soroka exiting early. Tail the Twins.

Tatsuya Imai is coming off throwing just 38 pitches his last outing. He gave up five runs to the Kansas City Royals and did not make it out of the first inning. He certainly is a starter you have to live with giving up runs, and needing run support from the Astros. That has been the case in three out of his last four starts, Houston has scored nine runs or more. Back that angle tonight against the Guardians.

Over the last thirty days the Kansas City Royals are tied with the Cubs and Rockies for fewest wins with nine total. It has even been a further prolonged slump when Noah Cameron is on the mound as the Royals have won just two out of his last twelve starts. Today though they will see Matthew Liberatore, who did not pitch in the original series in May. Since he came to the big leagues in 2022, his worst outing was against the Royals last season. In the start he gave up 8 hits and seven runs in just four innings of work. Back the Royals here. 

The Athletics had strong success at the plate in their two series in Vegas, where they averaged 7.5 runs. In yesterday’s return game in Sacramento they kept the hot hitting going with eleven runs. We know coming in tonight that Jack Perkins is likely going to give up 3 to 4 runs, but with the way the Athletics are hitting I would not be surprised for one half inning of run production to put them right back in the game. Take the Athletics.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have one of the strongest trends on the short season. After a road trip returning home they are 5-0 in the first game. Still, all good things come to an end, and the Dbacks will see an Angels team trending upward. They just had a season best four game win streak snapped yesterday by the Tampa Bay Rays. Take the Angels to snap Ryne Nelson’s four straight quality starts at home.

Freddy Peralta has given up four or more runs in three out of his last four starts. This includes giving up a season high six runs in his last start against the St. Louis Cardinals. He may have his issues again against this Braves lineup, but look for the Mets to back up Peralta at the plate. Bryce Elder has had issues pitching at this stage of the season. In fact, this is when Elder began a down turn a season ago on June 13th that lasted four straight starts. Take the Mets to win the series finale.

The Houston Astros had one of the best first innings of the season in yesterday’s victory over the Royals. They scored nine runs, with Yordan Alvarez hitting two home runs himself in the first inning. Even with a 9-0 lead, they came close to blowing the game as the Royals came all the way back to make it a 9-8 game. Kansas City actually outhit the Astros, and I expect that to carry over against Mike Burrows who has struggled lately. Take the Royals to end their three game losing streak.

Seattle lost yesterday’s game three to the Baltimore Orioles, but have had success in this series with the long ball. Josh Naylor hit a grand slam to spark them in one win, and we saw Mitch Garver and Randy Arozarena both hit three run shots in the extra inning win on Tuesday. Kyle Bradish’s overall season does not look poor, but he is tied for third most losses amongst starting pitchers. The bad luck continues today, as Seattle win the series finale. 

The Angels have had quick starts against the Houston Astros in their current series, and won 10-1 Tuesday night. Yet, since May 26th on four occasions the Angels have scored double digit runs and won. Each instance the next game they have lost. This applied to Reid Detmers who had a fantastic start last Friday against the Dodgers, but the Angels lost 1-0. Tail the Astros. 

The Arizona Diamondbacks will try and avoid a sweep today as they take on the Washington Nationals. They have been outscored, 20-2 in this series, and I expect a big bounce back spot today. Mike Soroka did pitch for the Nationals a season ago, and has been devalued for being fifth in wins on the season. Lay the juice with the home team.

The San Diego Padres have not been able to get out of their own way. They’ve dropped ten out of their last eleven games. The market has started to react as even against a Mets team that is just 13-20 on the road, they find themselves as a home underdog. Expect the Padres struggles to show this time tonight in closing out the game. New York delivers late, possibly even in extra innings and hands the Padres another loss. 

If you have been backing the Pirates when Bubba Chandler has been on the mound, you have lost seven straight wagers. Despite this, the Pirates are a close moneyline draw on the road against the Houston Astros. They’ve won three straight, and this is a bit of a sell high spot after the Astros won as a big underdog in Mike Burrows last outing against Jacob Degrom. Back the Pirates here as they finally get a victory with Chandler pitching. 

The New York Mets are suddenly getting contributions at the plate. They travel to Seattle on a four game win streak, and typically the flight across the country is a worry. Yet, Emerson Hancock has seen his starts spoiled at home in three out of his last four home starts. Take the Mets to end the Mariners six game win streak. 

The San Francisco Giants remain favorites against the Colorado Rockies, despite losing the first two games in the series as favorites. They blew a large lead in the ninth inning on Friday, and lost in lopsided fashion Saturday. Today’s starter in Robbie Ray is 0-5 on the road this season, where the Giants have been shutout three times. They’ve actually been outscored 24 to 3 in those five road games. Yet, I’ll jump in on the discounted offering, as the Giants avoid the road sweep.

For a second consecutive night the LA Dodgers are slight home favorites. The Philadelphia Phillies after a road sweep against the Padres, did lose game one to the Dodgers. A catalyst in their turn around has been their excellence on the road, as they have not lost two in a row on the road since April 24th. This coincides with Jesus Luzardo who has won four of five road starts this year, with a 1.21 road era. Back the Phillies.

The Tampa Bay Rays continue to win at unprecedented levels, and now the market is starting to show it. Today they are sizeable home favorites with ace Drew Rasmussen on the mound against the LA Angels. The Angels let one get away yesterday, where the wheels fell off with their bullpen. Today, look for Reid Detmers to follow up a strong pitching performance of fourteen strikeouts against the Rangers. Back the Angels.

The Houston Astros lost a tough game one at home to the Milwaukee Brewers yesterday, 5-4. It extended their streak of scoring four runs or less in eleven straight home games. An odd angle exists with the Brew Crew today, as they are undefeated on the year following an extra inning game. This has occurred following an extra inning game against Toronto, Miami, Pittsburgh, and the Yankees. Tail the Brewers.

The Miami Marlins swept the New York Mets in a home series last week. That included Max Meyer getting his fifth win of the season, against today’s Mets starter in Freddy Peralta. It was a series that the Mets never scored more than one run, and were shutout in the finale. Peralta has also had a poor history against the Marlins, where his team has lost seven straight times. Back the Marlins to get back in the win column in game one of their series at New York.

The Philadelphia Phillies are looking to complete a rare road sweep over a Padres team that has a better record. The market has not showcased that as the Phillies have been favored in two of the three matchups, and were nearly even in yesterday’s offering. Look for Christopher Sanchez to continue one of the strongest months we have seen from a starting pitcher in terms of duration and runs allowed. Back the Phillies. 

At home, Robbie Ray has seen his San Francisco Giants team win four of his five home starts on the season. The only loss was the opener against the New York Yankees. Still, Ray is coming off a disastrous road start against the Diamondbacks in which he gave up nine runs. The Giants are also not trustworthy with following up a home win with another win. They have not won consecutive home games since April 26th. Tail the White Sox.

The Athletics have momentum heading into their road series against the San Diego Padres. They’ve won consecutive games in comeback fashion and in extra innings against the LA Angels. Although the Padres do have the rest advantage with Thursday off, but their last two off days they have lost the following game. Look for Jeffrey Springs to end a mini drought of starting without a win. Grab the Athletics. 

Jose Soriano last two home starts have been rough. He has given up 6 runs to the Dodgers, and 5 runs to the White Sox. Additionally, the Athletics have scored twenty runs over the last two games in the series. Yet, I’m going to go buy low on the Angels rough stretch where they rank towards the bottom in all categories in the month of May. They get some payback after going down in extra innings on Wednesday night.

A team that has catapulted their moneyline value compared to a season ago are the Colorado Rockies. They are just ten games below .500, and will match the Rangers tonight using an opener out of their bullpen in Sammy Peralta. With rain in the forecast, there’s a good chance of a possible delay, which I believe benefits the home team in Colorado. Take the Rockies to win a second straight game over Texas. 

The Minnesota Twins ended a two game losing streak with yesterday’s win over the Milwaukee Brewers. Today, they will have rookie pitcher Kendry Rojas on the mound. Rojas has not pitched beyond 3 1/3 innings, which puts dependence on the bullpen to keep the Astros bats at bay. Houston has struggled with their road woes with just a 7-15 road record. Look for that to cost them late, as the Twins cash as slight home favorites. 

Kumar Rocker of the Texas Rangers has quickly seen a shift in his season. In the month of April he had a 3.38 ERA, and allowed two runs or less in four out of five starts. Now in May he has had two short outings, and boasts an ERA over 12. Compounding matters is over his last three starts the Rangers have scored exactly one run, and are 1-6 in Rocker’s starts this season. Tail the road favorite Dbacks. 

Eric Fedde has yet to record a win for his new team in the Chicago White Sox, as he has an 0-4 record. The only start this season that he did not get any run support was against the Kansas City Royals on April 11th. It was a 2-0 game that the Royals won. Fedde’s hits are down but 5 out of his last 11 hits allowed have been home runs. Take the Royals to take down the White Sox in game one of their new series.

The San Francisco Giants continue to be a tough assessment on a daily basis. They are just 15 and 24 on the season, and after getting a win Friday against the Pirates were lit up in yesterday’s loss. They gave up twenty team hits to Pittsburgh, and lost 13 to 3. Yet, I’ll buy the dip here with the Pirates concluding a two series road trip, and having an off day tomorrow. Tail the home team here in San Francisco.

Something has to give today, as the St. Louis Cardinals boast a 13-5 away record. The Padres have managed just one run in the two losses in the series. Yet, they get to see an old divisional pitcher in Dustin May who pitched for the LA Dodgers, and now is in his first year with St. Louis. Look for the Padres to break out of their team slump with the familiarity angle.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have not been able to get Merril Kelly going. He missed the early portion of the season, and just has not been himself. Look for the Diamondbacks to have a different approach with Kelly, and manage him inning to inning.  Kelly also gets to see a Mets team that is on their third straight West Coast road series. Look for Kelly to get out of some jams tonight, as the Backs bounce back with a win. 

The Miami Marlins have won all four of Max Meyer’s home starts. This includes a one hit seven inning gem his last outing against the Philadelphia Phillies. Yet, Baltimore comes in swinging hot bats as they have scored sixteen runs in this series against the Marlins. They get their second road sweep of the season, and cash as slight underdogs.

Mike Soroka of the Arizona Diamondbacks gave up as many runs his last outing against the Brewers, as he did his first five starts of the season. Expecting a bounce back effort tonight against a Pirates team that has scored just one run over their last 18 innings. The last four meetings have also featured a shutout between the Pirates and Diamondbacks. Grab the home team. 

The Chicago Cubs in back to back games have come through late to cash and keep their home winning streak alive to 13 games. Both games the Reds let slip away, but today is an opportunity to make amends. A year ago the Reds were 3 and 0 when seeing Colin Rea, including spoiling a career high 11 strikeout performance. Back the Reds to get in the win column.

The Detroit Tigers lost a tough game one yesterday to the Texas Rangers. They are just 4 and 7 over their last eleven games, but have been strong at home on the young season. At home they are 10 and 3, and have won their prior four series at home. Saturday’s starting pitcher for the Ranger’s in Kumar Rocker, has seen Texas lose four out of his five starts by one run. Back the Tigers to get back in the win column.

The Athletics have caught many by surprise as they are currently in first place in the AL West. Today’s starter in JT Ginn has stepped into the rotation, and the Athletics have won all four of his starts. Look for that to end tonight as the Guardians have no where to go but up at the plate. Over the last seven days they are third worst in runs scored. A great place to break out at Sutter Health Park, against an Athletics team they won both series a season ago.

The Detroit Tigers despite a 5-13 road record are sizable favorites tonight against the Atlanta Braves. Tarik Skubal is coming off giving up four runs to the Milwaukee Brewers, but expect another bounce back outing as he did when he gave up four runs to the Twins. After having no runs through eight innings, Detroit had a two run home run in the ninth. Look for that to carry over into tonight at the plate. Take Detroit.

Cincinnati Reds starter Brandon Williamson has had the pattern of a quality start and then a rough outing through his first five starts. I believe that continues tonight after giving up five runs in last week’s loss to the Tampa Bay Rays. The Reds are tied with the best record over the last ten games in the NL, and will handle the Rockies for a second straight night.

The Miami Marlins are one of the biggest underdogs on the season tonight, as they travel to face the Dodgers. Chris Paddock numbers look poor, but he has kept teams at bay on the road. Three road starts all have scored two runs or less, including the Yankees not scoring against him. He also had a fantastic start at the Dodgers last season where he went six innings strong, and gave up just four hits, with 8 strikeouts. The road team has also covered on the run line in three out of the last four game ones to open a home series against the Dodgers. Take the Marlins on the run line.

The White Sox look to win their third straight series if they get a victory today over the Washington Nationals. They are turning back to using an opener with Bryan Hudson, who pitched one inning in Friday’s 5-4 win over Washington. This should be a seesaw battle, but a fade worthy spot on Naitonal’s starter Foster Griffin who is top ten in wins but has given up three home runs over his last two starts. Right price point to back the slight home favorite White Sox.

The Miami Marlins look to correct their road issues at the beginning of the season tonight at San Francisco. They are just 2-7 on the year, and Sandy Alcantara has had a couple of shaky consecutive outings. His last time out against the Brewers he had six walks. Yet, Oracle Park was when of the best away stadiums for the Marlins last season. They went 3-0 at San Francisco and scored 24 runs. Grab the Marlins as the short road favorite.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have shown for several years their streakiness as a team. It works both ways for winning and losing, and right now the Diamondbacks are showing a big worry with their pitching. The last two games the starters have given up eight runs each. As great as Eduardo Rodriguez start has been to the season,  this looks like another letdown spot for the Diamondbacks. Whether it’s from Rodriguez or the bullpen, back the underdog White Sox.

The Chicago Cubs have won five straight, but will see the opponent they last lost to tonight in the Philadelphia Phillies. It was also the last opponent that both Colin Rea and Aaron Nola saw. Rea had his deepest outing of the season going six innings, but also gave up a season high three runs. After just eight runs over their last five games, look for the Phillies bats to respond in a big way. Tail the Phillies.

Sandy Alcantara of the Miami Marlins will look to shake off a rough start where he gave up three home runs on seven runs his last start. Back home he has been exceptional on the young season, where he has given up just two runs over three starts. This may not end up being a pitcher friendly game, but eye the Marlins to end the Brewers three game win streak on the short home price.

Two pitchers that have exceeded expectations to begin the year are Emerson Hancock and Randy Vasquez. Vasquez has actually allowed more hits each start this season, but has kept runs at a minimum. Seattle is a team that I expect to change that tonight, and also override their prolonged road struggles at the plate. They have lost six straight road games, and five of them scored two runs or less. Fade the market move that has shifted to the Padres. 

We will look at a big underdog in the afternoon and fade the market on Seattle and Logan Gilbert. This is grossly priced based on the Astros losing six straight games, and all on the road. They had the hits yesterday and runs but fell short, 8-7. Gilbert may spin a gem but Seattle is 0 and 3 in his starts this year. Back the big underdog with Houston. 

The Cleveland Guardians lost in lopsided fashion yesterday to the Atlanta Braves, 11 to 5. What they have not done on the young season is lose consecutive games. This was the case even in their second series against the LA Dodgers. Parker Messick through two starts and eleven innings of work has given up just one solo shot home run. Take the Guardians to get back in the win column against veteran Martin Perez.

The Chicago Cubs played in a double header on Sunday, and then traveled for another road series yesterday against Tampa Bay. They lost 6 to 4, with the bullpen giving up two key runs in the seventh inning which has been a problem in their last two losses. The Rays after playing nine straight games on the road finally have their first home stand of the season. They get their second win in a row at home, and fourth win in a row overall. Back the short priced home favorite in the Rays. 

The hitting conditions are not optimal today in a cold weather environment in Cleveland. We saw that impact the first game of today’s double header, which at post of this write up was 0-0 in the sixth inning. While Imanaga certainly should bounce back from a rough debut, he was prone to the home run ball against the Guardians lineup last season. On four hits allowed, three were home runs. Take the Guardians on the mispriced double header. 

The New York Mets got back to .500 with their bats finally breaking out with ten total runs. The ten runs were more than the Mets had their prior four games combined. Now look for some consistency as the Mets have had the upper hand at Oracle Park, winning four out of the last five matchups over the Giants. This includes Clay Holmes start last July in which he gave up just one run. Back the Mets as the slight road favorite.

The New York Mets bats have been tough to watch. Over their last six games they are averaging two runs per game. It’s always tough traveling right to another road series, as was the case for the Mets after their series against St. Louis to San Francisco. Expect a better performance tonight against Tyler Mahle of the Giants. After dropping three straight, the Mets get back in the win column at .500.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have shown their ups and downs come in extremes early in the season. They first were swept by the Dodgers, and then they swept the Detroit Tigers. Now we have another downward moment as the Diamondbacks were blown out yesterday by the Atlanta Braves. Atlanta’s bats stay hot in a favorable matchup against Eduardo Rodriguez. 

One of the most lopsided games in MLB last season was when the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Colorado Rockies, 20 to 1 last August. The starting pitcher for the Rockies in that matchup was today’s starter in Kyle Freeland. Of course that was at Coors Field, and not Toronto. Rockies under have cashed in four of their first five games. In an early start, take the under.

After an 0 and 2 start, the Tampa Bay Rays have cashed in consecutive games. That included taking game one yesterday over the Milwaukee Brewers, 3-2. That’s right in line of what we saw last season when Tampa Bay won the series over Milwaukee, with two one run wins of 4-3, and 3-2. Back the Rays as Shane McClanahan gets his first win since 2023.

Both the Cincinnati Reds and Pittsburgh Pirates are 2-1 to the under to begin the season.  Based on last year’s results, one would figure to take the under today. Both games against the Reds last year that Braxton Ashcraft started were 2-1 games, and Chase Burns had his best start of the season against Pittsburgh going 6 1/3 with ten strikeouts and one run allowed. In an early season divisional game, look for the familiarity against both pitchers to benefit the bats. Take the over.

As great as the Atlanta Braves were in spring training, everything is now reset to start their season. They were one of the worst teams to begin the year a season ago, where they started 0 and 7. Look for the pressure to start the year on a positive note, to derail game one against Kansas City when Chris Sale exits. Banking on late inning runs, or even an extra inning Royals win here. Tail KC.
