Saints vs. Falcons Betting Preview 01/01/17- NFL Odds & TV Info
Betting Preview
Two of the leagues top three quarterbacks face off when the Saints visit Atlanta. The Saints are playing for a .500 record where Atlanta looks to secure the number two seed and a bye in the first round.
Saints quarterback Drew Brees is the number one quarterback in the league with over 4800 yards passing and 35 touchdowns leading a team that is ranked first in total offense and passing. They average over 29 points a game scoring but a porous defense has been their downfall. Of their seven wins, they were victorious in just one game when they scored less than 30 points and lost two games where they scored at least 32 points. They are ranked 25th in total defense and 30th in points allowed (27.7 points a game).
Atlanta has the number three quarterback in Matt Ryan who has thrown for over 4600 yards and tossed 34 touchdowns. They too have one of the league’s better offenses as they are ranked second in total offense right behind the Saints and third in passing. Their defense has been vulnerable at times and are ranked 23rd in total defense while giving up 25 points a game. The good news is they have won four of their last five games and their defense has given up just 19 points or less in those four wins.
The oddsmakers have made the Falcons a seven point favorite and set the total at 56.5. According to Covers.com Consensus Analysis 56%of the public like the front running Falcons while 68% believe these two offenses will have no problem scoring and are backing the over.
