Preview
The Cardinals came into this season expected to contend for the Super Bowl, but after losing three of their first four games, they are going to need a miracle to make the playoffs. San Francisco surprised fans with a 28-0 win over the Rams in their season opener, but have lost three straight since. Blaine Gabbert threw for 170 yards and a TD on 22-of-35 passing in the win over the Rams, but he’s since thrown for just three TDs and four interceptions over the last three weeks. His job is on the line, with Colin Kaepernick likely to replace him as the starter if he continues to struggle. The Cardinals are also expecting to make a change at quarterback, after Carson Palmer threw five picks and just one touchdown pass in losses to LA and Buffalo the last two weeks. Palmer would certainly get the nod if healthy, but he’s still feeling the effects of a concussion, and it doesn’t look like he’ll be ready to face the 49ers. Drew Stanton replaced Palmer in the loss to the Rams, throwing for 37 yards and two INTs on 4-of-11 passing. Despite the fact that the Cardinals might have to rely on a backup quarterback, the bookmakers still have them listed as a three-point road favorite. The public is all over Arizona, according to Covers.com Consensus Analysis a staggering 72 percent of bettors are backing the Cardinals.
