Panthers vs. Seahawks Betting Preview 12/04/16 – Sunday Night Football
Betting Preview
To say Carolina is having a disappointing season is an understatement. After going 15-1 last season and winning their first 14 games, Carolina has won two straight games just once all season. They lost five of their first six games and have never recovered.
The problems are with the offense and defense. Last season the Panthers scored at least 30 points in eight games winning them all and this season they reached at least 30 points in five games and lost three of them. Last season their offense averaged over 31 points a game while this year they average 25 points a game.
Finally their defense which was ranked sixth last year gave up an average of 19.3 points a game and this year they give up over 25 points a game and to make matters worse lost star linebacker Luke Keuchley to injury.
Seattle saw their three game winning streak come to an end as they were shut down by Tampa Bay. Quarterback Russell Wilson had thrown for at least 272 yards in the three previous games with six touchdowns and no interceptions. Last week he was sacked six times and threw for 151 yards with 2 interceptions and no touchdowns.
They still maintain a three game lead in their division and have their eyes on the post season. The oddsmakers have made the Seahawks a seven point favorite with the total at 44.5.
According to Covers.com Consensus Analysis 57% of the public like Carolina’s chances and are behind the Panthers while 53% feel the total won’t be a problem and are backing the over.
