03-13-19 | Rangers v. Canucks -120 | Top | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 11 h 29 m | Show |
GAME OF THE WEEK (NHL): MIKE'S TOP RATED 10* NHL MONEYLINE Two slumping teams will clash at Rogers Arena Wednesday night as the Vancouver Canucks host the New York Rangers. The Nucks have dropped five of their last six, but they were sizable underdogs (+150 or more) in all those six games and all but two of those contests were on the road. They beat Anaheim 4-0 their last game closing as a favorite and have had three days to rest and recover since taking a 6-2 loss to Vegas Saturday night. The New York Rangers on the other hand will be playing their third game in four nights after taking a 3-2 OT loss at Edmonton Monday night. They've lost seven of their last eight, with the lone win during that stretch as a -175 favorite against New Jersey. The Rangers are 7-20 in their last 27 games as a road underdog of +110 to +150. Great spot to back the Canucks to get a much needed win. 10* play on Vancouver Canucks.
03-08-19 | Canadiens -113 v. Ducks | 2-8 | Loss | -113 | 12 h 17 m | Show
FRIDAY NIGHT NHL MONEYLINE MASSACRE The Montreal Canadiens took a 5-2 loss at San Jose Thursday night, not all that surprising considering regular goalie Carey Price got the night off in the 2nd game of a back-to-back situation. Price had started eight in a row prior to that loss and figures to be back in the crease tonight. Both teams will be playing their third game in four nights; Ducks are 6-18 in their last 24 in the third game of a 3-in-4 situation while Canadiens are 9-2 in their last 11 in the third game of a 3-in-4 situation. The Habs enter Friday as owners of the second wild-card playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, and I expect to see a motivated Montreal team make light work of Anaheim Ducks, a Western Conference bottom-feeder. 8* play on Montreal Canadiens.
03-05-19 | Canadiens -130 v. Kings | Top | 3-1 | Win | 100 | 13 h 38 m | Show |
GAME OF THE MONTH (NHL) The Montreal Canadiens enter Tuesday in the second wild-card slot in the Eastern Conference and had won four of six games before Saturday taking a 5-1 home loss to Pittsburgh on Saturday. They're 4-0 in their last four games playing on two days rest, 23-7 in their last 30 games following a home loss of three or more goals and 5-1 in their last six games as a road favorite. Here the Habs will face a LA Kings side that is in a major letdown spot after snapping a 10-game losing streak with a 6-3 victory over Chicago on Saturday. "Just awesome," All-Star defenseman Drew Doughty proclaimed after the streak-busting victory. "It feels really good. But it's hard to look past all those losses we had." I really don't expect LA to go on a run, and this looks like a more than reasonable price on a motivated Montreal team. 10* play on Montreal Canadiens.
03-03-19 | Jets v. Blue Jackets -117 | Top | 5-2 | Loss | -117 | 9 h 45 m | Show |
TOP RATED 10* NHL MONEYLINE MASSACRE The Winnipeg Jets recorded a 5-3 win over Nashville on Friday, but they've won just four of their last 12 games and have not recorded back-to-back wins for three weeks. Here they'll face a Columbus Blue Jackets team that will be looking to bounce back from a 4-0 loss to Edmonton on Saturday for their second loss in three games. "It's below our standard, which can't happen this time of year," Columbus forward Nick Foligno said following the defeat. "We're moving right by it. I'm not gonna pick it apart, talk about what's good or bad, we're moving right by it," coach John Tortorella told reporters. The favorite is 6-2 in the last eight meetings, and I think the price is right to back the home team to come through with a win despite the rest disadvantage. 10* play on Columbus Blue Jackets.
03-01-19 | Capitals -101 v. Islanders | 3-1 | Win | 100 | 9 h 32 m | Show
CAPITALS @ ISLANDERS METROPOLITAN DIV MASSACRE Huge rest advantage for the Washington Capitals who have had several days off since their 7-2 victory over Ottawa on Tuesday while the New York Islanders were in action Thursday night, posting a 6-1 victory over Toronto. The Islanders are 1-4 in their last five vs. a team with a winning record and 1-4 in their last five games as a home underdog. Capitals are 14-6 in their last 20 games as a road favorite and I expect the Caps to be the favorite come game time. The Islanders enter this contest top of the Metropolitan Division, two points ahead of Washington. That can't sit right with the reigning Stanley Cup-champion and I expect to see a well rested and focused Caps team come through with a win here. 8* play on Washington Capitals.
02-26-19 | Flames v. Islanders -110 | Top | 3-1 | Loss | -110 | 9 h 18 m | Show |
GAME OF THE WEEK (NHL): MIKE'S TOP RATED MONEYLINE The Calgary Flames travel to New York riding a five-game winning streak, including a 4-2 win over New York Islanders last Wednesday. It's however worth noting that the Flames were heavily favored in all but one of those games, and I think this looks like a good spot to back the Islanders to get revenge. The Flames barely squeeked by the Senators at Ottawa as a -225 favorite on Sunday, scoring the winning goal with just 41 seconds left in regulation. They are 3-12 in their last 15 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600, and here the Flames will run into an Islanders team that is a solid 18-7-1 as a home team on the season and blanked the Canucks in a 4-0 triumph at Vancouver last time out. The favorite is 9-1 in the last 10 meetings, and I expect that team to the Islanders come game time. 10* play on New York Islanders.
02-25-19 | Panthers v. Avalanche -140 | 4-3 | Loss | -140 | 11 h 17 m | Show
MONDAY NIGHT NHL MONEYLINE MASSACRE The Colorado Avalanche have outscored opponents 20-4 during a four-game winning streak. They're expected to have Semyon Varlamov back between the pipes here after giving the 30 year old Russian the night off in Saturday's 5-0 win at Nashville, and I don't think the Avs will have any trouble to take care of business here against the Florida Panthers Monday night. Sure, the Panthers have won four of their last five, but all of those games were at home and they're just 2-6 in their last eight road games. We can also note that Colorado has all the momentum in the series, having won three straight meetings after earning a 5-2 victory at Florida on Dec. 6. 8* play on Colorado Avalanche.
02-23-19 | Islanders -123 v. Canucks | Top | 4-0 | Win | 100 | 10 h 3 m | Show |
GAME OF THE WEEK (NHL) The New York Islanders look like great value here at Vancouver as they seek to end a two-game slide, first losing 4-2 at Calgary followed with a tough 4-3 OT loss at Edmonton. "It's a couple of tough games for us, it's going to be important here that we bounce back and re-focus and get back to playing the way we need to play," defenseman Ryan Pulock said after the most recent defeat. Here the Islanders will face a reeling Vancouver team that is 2-5-2 in its last nine games and just lost at home to the Arizona Coyotes. The Islanders are 5-1 in the last six meetings and should get the job done once again. 10* play on New York Islanders.
02-22-19 | Avalanche -110 v. Blackhawks | 5-3 | Win | 100 | 7 h 35 m | Show
NHL MONEYLINE MASSACRE The Colorado Avalanche have answered an eight-game losing streak with winning three of their last four and outscoring opponents 14-5 in the process. The Avs put a 7-1 beating on Winnipeg last time out and here they'll take on a Chicago team that is 3-14 in its last 17 when its opponent scored five goals last time out. The red hot Blackhawks have won 10 of their last 12 games overall but have struggled on the defensive end lately, giving up 16 goals through their last three games. Chicago has won each of the first two contests but I think the value is on the visitors in this matchup. 8* play on Colorado Avalanche.
02-20-19 | Bruins v. Golden Knights -118 | 3-2 | Loss | -118 | 15 h 32 m | Show
NHL MONEYMAKER The Boston Bruins travel to Vegas a riding a season-high six-game winning streak, but I think it'll come to an end here against a Golden Knights team desperate to break out of a slump. Wins have been few and far between for Vegas lately. The Knights have dropped four of their last five and failed to build on the momentum of a 5-1 win over Nashville on Saturday as they were blanked by the Avs two days later. "Just a reality check I guess," defenseman Jon Merrill said after that loss. "Now we go back home and get back to the drawing board and hope to get another win on Wednesday." Boston is in a let down spot and the Golden Knights are a solid 17-4 in their last 21 games as a home favorite. 8* play on Vegas Golden Knights.
02-20-19 | Islanders v. Flames -141 | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 10 h 57 m | Show
NHL NO-BRAINER The New York Islanders have proven extremely hard to beat of late, entering this contest with a 21-5-2 record through their last 28 games. We can however note that they're 5-12 in their last 17 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600, and here they'll face a Calgary team that is 18-5-3 home at Scotiabank Saddledome. The Flames have answered a four-game slide with back-to-back triumphs over Pittsburgh and Arizona, scoring five goals in both games and they do not want to lose that momentum. The favorite is 8-1 in the last nine meetings and this looks like a reasonable price on the home team. 8* play on Calgary Flames.
02-19-19 | Maple Leafs v. Blues -120 | Top | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 20 h 41 m | Show |
GAME OF THE MONTH (NHL) The Toronto Maple Leafs are coming off a 2-0 loss at Arizona. This will be the last leg of a road trip for the Leafs who will play their fifth road game in 10 days, and they'll run into a red hot St. Louis Blues side aiming for a franchise-best 11th straight win. The Blues have outscored their last three opponents by a combined 11-0 and rookie goaltender Jordan Binnington has been phenomenal this with a 12-1-1 record behind a 1.42 GAA as a starter on the season. St. Louis has outscored Toronto 19-8 through a five-game winning streak in the series, and I don't see the Blues losing this one. 10* play on St. Louis Blues.
02-18-19 | Capitals -125 v. Kings | 3-2 | Win | 100 | 13 h 3 m | Show
NHL MONEYLINE MASSACRE The Washington Capitals will be playing on no rest after taking a 5-2 loss at Anaheim Sunday night. They're 3-7 on no rest this season won their lone 2nd leg a back-to-back situation against a team with a losing record (4-0 vs. Ottawa) and should have enough gas left in the tank to bounce back and take care of business tonight. They'll face a Kings team that has lost four straight and ranks 30th in the league in scoring offense with an average of 2.4 gpg while the Caps have plenty of firepower and defeated the Kings 6-4 at Washington a week ago. The Kings have won eight straight meetings at Staples Center, but that's a streak I expect to come to an end here. 8* play on Washington Capitals.
02-16-19 | Predators v. Golden Knights -119 | 1-5 | Win | 100 | 21 h 11 m | Show
NHL MONEYLINE MASSACRE The Vegas Golden Knights will be desperate for a win here in front of the home town after dropping five straight home at T-Mobile Arena. They looked pretty good in Thursday's 6-3 loss to Toronto before suffering yet another third-period meltdown, and I think they'll stay focused and go the distance here. The Knights won't give up anything for free as they seek to put an end to three-game losing streak to the Preds in the series and avenge a 2-1 loss to Nashville here in Vegas less than a month ago. We can note that the Predators just snapped a three-game skid of their own with a 3-1 triumph over Montreal on Thursday so with that monkey of their back I don't think they'll play with as much determination as the home team. 8* play on Vegas Golden Knights.
02-15-19 | Bruins v. Ducks UNDER 5.5 | Top | 3-0 | Win | 100 | 12 h 58 m | Show |
GAME OF THE MONTH (NHL): MIKE'S TOP RATED TOTAL FOR FEBRUARY The Anaheim Ducks have scored just nine goals through their last eight games but managed to snap a seven-game losing streak despite scoring just a single goal against Vancouver Wednesday night. Huge for GM Bob Murray to get a win and a shutout in his debut as interim coach after firing Randy Caryle, and I think Murray will put a lot of focus on improving a defense that has allowed an average of 3.16 gpg. Boston Bruins are coming off a 6-3 home win over Chicago but we can note that under is 16-6-1 in Bruins last 23 road games. Boston beat Anaheim 3-1 on Dec. 20 and I think this will be another low-scoring affair. 10* play on UNDER.
02-14-19 | Avalanche v. Jets -157 | 4-1 | Loss | -157 | 9 h 18 m | Show
THURSDAY NIGHT NHL MONEYLINE MASSACRE The Winnipeg Jets are one of the absolute strongest home teams in the NHL with a 21-6-2 record home at Bell MTS Place. Here they'll host a reeling Avalanche team that is 0-5-3 through its last eight games and took a 5-2 loss vs. Toronto last time out. The Avs gave up three power-play goals in that contest and are 28th in the NHL in penalty kill, allowing opponents to score on 76% of their chances. That could spell trouble here, facing a Jets team who's power play ranks fourth in the league converting at 26% of its opportunities. The Jets have won seven straight meetings at Bell MTS Place and I highly doubt that streak ends tonight. 8* play on Winnipeg Jets.
02-12-19 | Hurricanes v. Senators +130 | 4-1 | Loss | -100 | 12 h 7 m | Show
TUESDAY NIGHT NHL MONEYLINE MASSACRE This looks like a tough spot for the Carolina Hurricanes who saw a three-game winning streak come to an end Saturday with a 3-2 loss at New Jersey. Now the Canes will have to try and find motivation to bounce back in the finale of a five-game road trip (which might be easier said than done), and they'll come up against a Senators side off back-to-back wins against first Anaheim and most recently Central Division-leading Winnipeg. Ottawa goes on a four-game road trip after this game, starting Thursday at Detroit, and I think it'll go all in and make the most of this matchup in front of the home town crowd. 8* play on Ottawa Senators.
02-09-19 | Predators v. Blues -113 | Top | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 4 h 50 m | Show |
GAME OF THE WEEK (NHL) The St. Louis Blues look like great value here as the host the Nashville Predators Saturday afternoon. Riding an 8-2-1 stretch, they've been one of the hottest teams in the league over the last month and here they return home high on confidence off four straight triumphs on the road, the most recent a 1-0 OT win over NHL-best Tampa Bay on Thursday. Note that the Blues are 6-2 in their last eight home games following a road trip of seven or more days and took down Nashville 6-2 here at Enterprise Center on Nov 23. The Predators have won five of their last six games following Thursday's 3-2 victory over Dallas but their star netminder Pekka Rinne owns a relatively poor 2.75 GAA in his 19 appearances on the road this season. Blues' rookie goaltender Jordan Binnington on the other hand is a spectacular 8-1-1 with a 1.70 goals-against average on the season and I think he'll lead the home team to victory. 10* play on St. Louis Blues.
02-07-19 | Ducks v. Senators +102 | 0-4 | Win | 102 | 17 h 42 m | Show
NHL MONEYLINE MASSACRE The Ottawa Senators took a 5-4 OT loss at Toronto last night, but I don't think fatigue will be that much of an issue as they hadn't played since Saturday prior to that. I like the price we get on the Sens to bounce back right away with win here despite playing on no rest as they'll host an Anaheim Ducks team that will play its third game in four nights. The Ducks have mustered only six goals during a five-game slide and are 2-12 in their last 14 games as an underdog (I'm counting on the Sens to be favorites come game time). We can also note that the home team is 4-1 in the last five meetings in this series. 8* play on Ottawa Senators.
02-05-19 | Kings v. Devils -140 | 5-1 | Loss | -140 | 15 h 33 m | Show
TUESDAY NIGHT NHL MONEYLINE MASSACRE The Los Angeles Kings are in a very tough spot here at New Jersey Tuesday night. Fresh off a come-from-behind triumph over the Rangers at MSG last night they'll not only play on back-to-back nights, but also their third game in four nights. Kings are 2-7 in their last nine games playing on 0 days rest and 0-4 in their last four in the third game of a 3-in-4 situation, and they'll face a Devils team that is 7-2 in its last nine vs. a team with a winning % below .400. The Devils have had two solid days of to rest and recover since their 3-2 OT win at Montreal on Saturday and I think they'll skate away with this game. 8* play on New Jersey Devils.
02-04-19 | Kings v. Rangers -128 | Top | 4-3 | Loss | -128 | 10 h 31 m | Show |
TOP RATED 10* NHL MONEYLINE MASSACRE The New York Rangers have dropped two of three since the All Star break, but they could easily have won them all with the losses by just one goal each and they out-shot their opponent both times. Here the Rangers will face an LA Kings side that collapsed late at New York Islanders on Saturday for another demoralizing loss. Kings' netminder Jonathan Quick gave up three goals on 31 shots to fall to 2-6-2 with a 3.35 GAA and .895 SV% in 10 road starts on the season. The Rangers are 5-2 in their last seven home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 while the Kings are 8-14-2 and average just 1.84 gpg away from home. The home team is 5-1 in the last six meetings and this is an easy play on the Rangers IMO. 10* play on New York Rangers.
02-02-19 | Kings v. Islanders -165 | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 21 h 50 m | Show
NHL MONEYLINE MASSACRE The New York Islanders put a 7-2 beating on the Kings at LA back in October, and I think they'll pick up another easy victory in the rematch home at the Nassau Coliseum Saturday night. The Kings traded wins and losses through their last six games heading into the All Star break, but here they'll face a red hot Islanders side that had won five in a row before taking a 3-2 SO loss at Chicago in their last game before the All Star break and falling to Tampa Bay in another shooutout last night. Playing on no rest is generally not an issue for the Isles who are 7-0 in their last seven games playing on 0 days rest and I have no problem backing the home team at this price. 8* play on New York Islanders.
01-31-19 | Rangers v. Devils -140 | 4-3 | Loss | -140 | 14 h 38 m | Show
THURSDAY NIGHT NHL MONEYLINE MASSACRE The New York Rangers entered the All Star break on a three-game winning streak but were shut out by Philadelphia in their first game back in action Tuesday night. Here they'll face a New Jersey Devils side that needed the break badly and snapped a three-game skid with a 6-3 triumph at Pittsburgh on Monday. "A break -- a little extended break, too -- it's nice to refresh and not think about hockey," Devils' netminder Keith Kinkaid said. "Just focus on the things you need to do." The Devils have dominated the Rangers in recent meetings winning four of the last five overall and five of six at Prudential Center. 8* play on New Jersey Devils.
01-23-19 | Hurricanes v. Canucks -110 | Top | 5-2 | Loss | -110 | 12 h 42 m | Show |
GAME OF THE WEEK (NHL) The Vancouver Canucks are heading into this matchup with the Carolina Hurricanes well rested after getting two days of rest and recovery since Sunday's 3-2 victory over Detroit Red Wings. Tonight they'll face a Carolina team at a huge rest disadvantage after battling the Flames at Calgary last night, and we can also note that the Canes have dropped 12 of the last 13 meetings at Vancouver. The Nucks are a solid 6-1 in their last seven home games vs. a team with a losing road record and a win here send them into the break sitting in one of the Western Conference wild-card positions. I think this is an excellent price on the home team. 10* play on Vancouver Canucks.
01-22-19 | Red Wings +122 v. Oilers | 3-2 | Win | 122 | 10 h 12 m | Show
TUESDAY NIGHT NHL POWER PLAY Two slumping teams will clash at Rogers Place Tuesday night, but I think we're getting good value on the visitors. The Oilers are just 2-8 in their last 10 home games and a poor 1-7 in their last eight vs. a team with a winning % below .400. They've opened a three-game homestand by allowing a total of 12 goals in losses to Calgary and Carolina while Detroit was fairly unlucky to take 3-2 loss to the Canucks last time out despite outshooting its opponent 37-31. Tne road team has prevailed in each of the first three meetings on the season, and I expect the same outcome tonight. 8* play on Detroit Red Wings.
01-22-19 | Coyotes -103 v. Senators | Top | 3-2 | Win | 100 | 14 h 33 m | Show |
TOP RATED 10* NHL MONEYLINE MASSACRE The Arizona Coyotes are playing their best hockey of the season right now, earning points in six of their last seven contests with wins over solid teams like San Jose and Toronto. "We played the right way," said forward Clayton Keller following Sunday's 4-2 win against the Leafs. "We came out a little bit slow, but I think we settled down a little bit and stuck to our game plan." The Yotes are 5-2 in the last seven meetings with the Ottawa Senators who have won four of their last six overall but just one of their last five home at Canadian Tire Centre. 10* play on Arizona Coyotes.
01-21-19 | Blues v. Kings UNDER 5.5 | Top | 3-4 | Loss | -134 | 7 h 24 m | Show |
GAME OF THE YEAR (NHL): MIKE'S TOP RATED NHL TOTAL FOR THE 2018/2019 SEASON! The Los Angeles Kings had allowed just five goals in regulation through their last three games before taking a 7-1 beating at Colorado on Saturday. The over/under is 19-29 in Kings' games on the season and I expect the home team to bounce back with a much better defensive outing here. "We left our goalies out to dry again. We're sick of doing that," Kings defenseman Drew Doughty told reporters. "When we win games, we leave them out to dry. When we lose games, we leave them out to dry. It's about time we play for them." We can also note that Kings netminder Jonathan Quick owns a 2.38 GAA through 23 career encounters with the St. Louis Blues who have scored three goals or fewer in three straight games and have seen seven of their last eight go under the total. 10* play on UNDER.
01-19-19 | Flames -119 v. Oilers | 5-2 | Win | 100 | 22 h 43 m | Show
LATE NIGHT NHL MONEYLINE MASSACRE The Calgary Flames are coming off a 6-4 win against Detroit Friday night. They'll be playing on no rest here at Edmonton, but that's also the main reason why they're at such a cheap price against an Oilers side that has won just two of its last eight at Rogers Place. Calgary is a solid 15-9 SU on the road and 6-1 in their last seven vs. a team with a losing record. 8* play on Calgary Flames.
01-18-19 | Senators +1.5 v. Hurricanes | 4-1 | Win | 100 | 11 h 49 m | Show
FRIDAY NIGHT NHL PUCKLINE PUNISHER The Carolina Hurricanes took a 6-2 loss at New York Rangers on Tuesday, and if they expect an easy rebound game here Friday night they might come up disappointed. The Ottawa Senators fell 5-4 when they hosted Carolina on January 6, but the Sens have won three of four games since including road wins at Anaheim and LA Kings. "We're building something, you can feel it," Senators coach Guy Boucher said after Wednesday night's 5-2 home victory against the Colorado Avalanche. The Senators have been one of the worst teams in the league all year, but I expect them to keep this close and maybe even steal a win. 8* play on Ottawa Senators.
01-16-19 | Bruins v. Flyers +129 | 3-4 | Win | 129 | 11 h 57 m | Show
3-GAME HIGH ROLLER REPORT The Boston Bruins have dropped two of their last three while the Philadelphia Flyers have won two of their last three (both wins at home), the most recent an impressive 7-4 triumph over Minnesota. The home team is 6-1 in the last seven meetings in this series and I think the price is right to back Philly here. 8* play on Philadelphia Flyers.
01-15-19 | Golden Knights +115 v. Jets | 1-4 | Loss | -100 | 12 h 12 m | Show
TUESDAY NIGHT NHL MONEYLINE MASSACRE The Winnipeg Jets have been outstanding home at Bell MTS Place all season (17-6-1), but I think we're too good of a price on the visitors here to pass up on. The Vegas Golden Knights have been blistering hot lately and improved to 8-1-0 in their last nine games with a 4-3 overtime victory at Chicago on Saturday. They've have had two days to rest and recover since that contest and are 6-0 in their last six games playing on two days rest. The Jets are in a more difficult spot, playing on just one day of rest since a 4-3 OT win over Anaheim and this will be their fourth game in six nights. 8* play on Vegas Golden Knights.
01-14-19 | Canadiens +165 v. Bruins | 3-2 | Win | 165 | 10 h 17 m | Show
NHL MONEYLINE MASSACRE The Montreal Canadiens are 3-2 SU as a road underdog of +150 or more this season for a +69% ROI. Sure, it's a small sample, but they're also a solid 12-8-3 in all road games on the season and they've won 12 of the last 17 meetings with the Bruins here at TD Garden. Boston is hot with six wins through its last seven games, but the price is right to back the visitors in this matchup. 8* play on Montreal Canadiens.
01-13-19 | Coyotes +1.5 v. Flames | Top | 1-7 | Loss | -115 | 9 h 27 m | Show |
GAME OF THE WEEK (NHL): MIKE'S TOP RATED 10* PUCKLINE PUNISHER The Arizona Coyotes have opened a three-game trek through Western Canada with outright wins at Vancouver and Edmonton to improve to 12-9-1 SU on the road for a 40.7% ROI. They're 16-6 against the puckline in those games. Calgary is coming off four straight victories but won three of those by just one goal, against opponents like Philadelphia, Chicago and Florida. I like the visitors to keep this close. 10* play on Arizona Coyotes.
01-11-19 | Red Wings +1.5 v. Jets | 2-4 | Loss | -130 | 17 h 36 m | Show
FRIDAY NIGHT NHL PUCKLINE PUNISHER The Detroit Red Wings have lost eight of their last nine games, but four of their last five have been tight one-goal affairs and they're 12-8 against the puckline away from home on the season. The Winnipeg Jets will play on no rest (and third game in four nights) following a 3-2 loss at Minnesota last night while Detroit has had two full days off since a 3-2 loss to Montreal Tuesday night. The Wings are a perfect 3-0 against the puckline as an underdog when facing an opponent on no rest this season. We can also note that the visitors are expected to get defenseman Mike Green back on the ice after missing 13 games with a lower-body injury. They're 13-8-2 with Green in the lineup. I think they'll keep this a close game. 8* play on Detroit Red Wings +1.5.
01-10-19 | Senators v. Kings UNDER 6 | Top | 4-1 | Win | 100 | 13 h 57 m | Show |
GAME OF THE MONTH: MIKE'S TOP RATED NHL TOTAL FOR JANUARY! Yesterday at Anaheim the Ottawa Senators managed to shore up a leaking defense that had allowed four goals or more in all but one contest during an eight-game slide. They were rewarded with a 2-1 OT win, and I think the Sens will be involved in another low-scoring contest here at LA Kings Thursday night. The Kings have lost three of their last four games and scored just a total of seven goals during that stretch. They have scored more than two goals in regulation just once in their past seven games ... They've been decent defensively though and under is 8-2 in their last 10 games overall and 16-5-1 in Kings last 22 when their opponent allows two goals or fewer in their previous game. 10* play on UNDER.
01-10-19 | Sharks v. Golden Knights -121 | 3-2 | Loss | -121 | 10 h 53 m | Show
NHL MONEYLINE MASSACRE Two of the hottest teams in the league will clash at T-Mobile Arena as the Vegas Golden Knights who are riding a seven-game winning streak host a San Jose Sharks side that has won six of its last seven. The Sharks are however just 6-21 in their last 27 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 while Vegas is 6-2 in their last eight home games vs. a team with a losing road record. San Jose has scored a total of 20 goals through its last four games but here it'll face a Vegas team that has been outstanding on the defensive end allowing just nine goals through its last seven games. We can also note that Vegas has dominated the series winning six of the last eight overall and five of six meetings in Vegas. 8* play on Vegas Golden Knights.
01-08-19 | Hurricanes v. Islanders -120 | Top | 4-3 | Loss | -120 | 15 h 48 m | Show |
GAME OF THE WEEK (NHL) The Carolina Hurricanes are coming off four straight wins, but they've played a fairly easy schedule during that stretch and actually struggled to put away the NHL-worst Ottawa Senators last time out. I think the Canes' winning streak will come to an end against a red hot New York Islanders side which has won six in a row (with solid road wins at Buffalo and Toronto) and it has lost just one of its last 10. We can also note that the Islanders should be well rested with this being just their third game in 2019, and they've had plenty of time to recover since picking up a 4-3 win at St. Louis on Saturday while the visitors will play on one days rest. The Islanders have won the first three meetings of the season, limiting Carolina to one goal in all three contests, and I think they'll make it four in a row tonight. 10* play on NY Islanders.
01-06-19 | Stars v. Jets -150 | 1-5 | Win | 100 | 17 h 13 m | Show
SUNDAY NHL MONEYLINE MASSACRE The Winnipeg Jets have lost three of their last four and were shut out 4-0 at Pittsburgh Friday night. I like the price we get on the Jets to bounce back here against a Dallas team they've defeated in eight of the last nine encounters. Note that Winnipeg has been shut out twice this season, coming back with wins both times (3-1 against Carolina on Oct 14, 7-1 against Philadelphia on Dec 9. Dallas is coming off a 3-1 homestand but has struggled on the road most of the season, and the Stars are just 5-13 in their last 18 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600. 8* play on Winnipeg Jets.
01-05-19 | Predators v. Canadiens -120 | Top | 4-1 | Loss | -120 | 12 h 13 m | Show |
TOP RATED 10* NHL PLAY OF THE DAY The slumping Nashville Predators have lost seven of their last nine overall and 11 of their last 12 on the road following a 4-3 OT loss at Detroit on Friday. Tough spot for the Preds here, playing on no rest on the road against a Montreal team that has won five of its last six. Montreal netminder Carey Price blanked Vancouver Thursday night after missing three contests with a lower-body injury, Price owns a he 1.94 GAA against the Preds in his career and I think he will guide the Habs to victory in this contest. 10* play on Montreal Canadiens.
01-04-19 | Predators v. Red Wings +1.5 | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 16 h 34 m | Show
FRIDAY NIGHT NHL PUCKLINE PUNISHER The Detroit Red Wings have managed just one win through a poor 11 game stretch and enter this game on a six-game losing streak, but I think they'll give Nashville Predators all they can handle here at Little Caesars Arena Friday night. Note that the Predators are just 1-10 in their last 11 road games and that Detroit has owned this series in recent seasons, winning seven of the last eight meetings. This is simply an excellent price on Detroit +1.5. 8* play on Detroit Red Wings +1.5.
01-03-19 | Panthers v. Sabres -125 | Top | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 18 h 28 m | Show |
GAME OF THE WEEK (NHL) The Florida Panthers have won six of their past eight games and they're 4-1-0 in their past five games on the road. Here they'll face a Buffalo side that at was the hottest team in the NHL at one point with 10 straight November wins, but has gone just 4-7-4 in its past 15 games. The Sabres enter this contest on a three-game losing streak and may be without their best player (and captain) Jack Eichel, but it's worth noting that they're 5-2 in their last seven home games vs. a team with a losing road record while the Panthers are 7-18 in their last 25 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. I think the Sabres will come out fueled by desperation to end the skid and inspired to start the new year on a good note. They'll also play with extra motivation after taking a 5-2 home loss to Florida last month, and the Sabres are 8-5 when looking to avenge a loss against an opponent this season. 10* play on Buffalo Sabres.
01-02-19 | Flames v. Red Wings +152 | 5-3 | Loss | -100 | 16 h 1 m | Show
WEDNESDAY NIGHT NHL POWER PLAY The Detroit Red Wings have won just three of their last 15 games and they've dropped five straight as home underdogs. The last four of those were decided by just one goal though, and I think we're getting a good price on Detroit's luck to change when they host the Calgary Flames Wednesday night. The Flames put an 8-5 beating on San Jose on New Year's Eve but had lost four of their past five games prior to that. The home team is 5-1 in the last six meetings and I think the Red Wings will look at this as a fresh start after a disappointing start to the season. 8* play on Detroit Red Wings.
12-31-18 | Jets -133 v. Oilers | Top | 4-3 | Win | 100 | 23 h 4 m | Show |
TOP RATED 10* NEW YEARS EVE NHL MONEYLINE MASSACRE **53.4% ROI ANGLE** The Winnipeg Jets are coming off back-to-back home losses to Calgary and Minnesota, so they might welcome the change of scenery with a matchup at Edmonton on New Years Eve. Here the Jets will face an Edmonton team on a much longer losing streak coming off five consecutive losses (the last four at home), and I think we're getting a fair price on the visitors in this matchup. Note that Winnipeg is 7-1 in its last eight road games and it is has generated an absolutely stunning 53.4% ROI through a 10-1 run as road favorites this season. 10* play on Winnipeg Jets.
12-29-18 | Golden Knights v. Kings +112 | Top | 4-1 | Loss | -100 | 7 h 56 m | Show |
GAME OF THE WEEK (NHL) The Vegas Golden Knights snapped a two-game skid with a 2-1 triumph over Colorado Thursday night. They're 1-4 in their last five games following a win, and I think they're in for tough game Saturday afternoon, facing a Los Angeles Kings team off four straight wins (including a 4-3 OT win at Vegas on December 23). The Kings have generated a +24.0% ROI as a home underdog this season. I like the price we get on the home team in this matchup. 10* play on LA Kings.
12-27-18 | Canucks +148 v. Oilers | 4-2 | Win | 148 | 23 h 31 m | Show
THURSDAY NIGHT NHL MONEYLINE MASSACRE **+25.9% ROI ANGLE** The Vancouver Canucks have lost four straight meetings with the Oilers at Edmonton, but this looks like a good spot to put an end to that trend. The Nucks have averaged four goals per game while winning three of their last four (3-0-1) away from home, and here they'll face an Oilers team that has been outscored 14-6 during a three-game slide. The Oilers' losing streak started with a 4-2 loss at Vancouver on Dec 16 ... The Canucks have generated a +25.9% ROI as a road underdog of +140 or more this season. I like the price we get on the visitors in this matchup. 8* play on Vancouver Canucks.
12-22-18 | Lightning -144 v. Oilers | 6-3 | Win | 100 | 23 h 30 m | Show
LATE NIGHT NHL MONEYLINE MASSACRE The NHL-best Tampa Bay Lightning are coming off back-to-back wins at Vancouver and Calgary to improve to a rock solid 12-3-2 on the road this season. Here they'll visit a Edmonton team mired in a mini-slump with losses in three of its last four games. We can also note that while the Oilers should be well rested with three days off since taking a 4-1 loss to St. Louis Tuesday night, they're 0-2 in such situations this season and 21-48 in their last 69 games playing on three or more days rest long-term. The red hot Lightning are 7-0 in their last seven after scoring five goals or more in their previous game and Edmonton has allowed four goals or more in five straight games. 8* play on Tampa Bay Lightning.
12-20-18 | Jets +114 v. Sharks | 5-3 | Win | 114 | 14 h 9 m | Show
NHL 3-PACK The Winnipeg Jets saw their five-game winning streak come to an end with a 4-1 loss at Los Angeles Kings Tuesday night. I think they'll bounce back and play spoiler to end the San Jose Sharks' dito here Thursday night. The Jets are 5-1 in their last six games following a loss of three or more goals, and while the Sharks have been winning lately, note that they're 1-4 in their last five vs. a team with a winning % above .600. 8* play on Winnipeg Jets.
12-20-18 | Blues v. Canucks -112 | Top | 1-5 | Win | 100 | 14 h 46 m | Show |
TOP RATED NHL PLAY OF THE DAY The Vancouver Canucks took a 5-2 loss to Tampa Bay last time out. They had however won five of six prior to that setback and I think we're getting a good price on the Nucks when they host the St. Louis Blues Thursday night. The Blues opened a three-game trek through Western Canada with a 4-1 win at Edmonton Tuesday night but are just 1-6 in their last seven games following a win. Vancouver won the last meeting 6-1 at St. Louis earlier this month, and expect the Canucks to deliver another beatdown in this matchup. 10* play on Vancouver Canucks.
12-20-18 | Lightning -116 v. Flames | 5-4 | Win | 100 | 13 h 43 m | Show
NHL 3-PACK Two of the hottest teams in the NHL will clash at Scotiabank Saddledom Thursday night. The Tampa Bay Lightning are 9-0-1 through their last 10 games while the Calgary Flames are 12-3-1 through their last 16. The Flames took a 2-0 loss at Dallas last time out though and I think there's a good chance they'll come out flat once again here. The Flames are 1-4 in their last five home games vs. a team with a road winning % of greater than .600 and the Lightning are 8-2 in the last 10 meetings in Calgary. 8* play on Tampa Bay Lightning.
12-19-18 | Penguins v. Capitals -135 | 2-1 | Loss | -135 | 16 h 18 m | Show
WEDNESDAY NIGHT NHL MONEYLINE MASSACRE The Washington Capitals are riding a five-game winning streak and they'll be will be well rested for this contest with three days off since beating Buffalo on Dec 15. Tonight Washington hosts a Pittsburgh team which took a 4-2 loss to Anaheim Monday night and will play its fourth game in six nights. The Penguins are just 2-8 in their last 10 road games and I don't think they have enough gas in the tank here to keep up with the rested Caps. 8* play on Washington Capitals.
12-18-18 | Flames -113 v. Stars | 0-2 | Loss | -113 | 16 h 35 m | Show
NHL MONEYLINE MASSACRE The Calgary Flames are the hottest team in the NHL with eight wins in their last nine games and off a 7-2 triumph at St. Louis on Sunday. Here they'll visit the Dallas Stars who are heading in the complete opposite direction with 19 goals allowed through four straight losses. We can also note that the Flames will be seeking to avenge an overtime home loss to the Stars on Nov. 28 in the first of three meetings this season. Dallas has had an extra day of rest compared to its opponent, but Flames are 12-1 in their last 13 games playing on one days rest while Stars are 1-6 in their last seven games playing on two days rest. 8* play on Calgary Flames.
12-16-18 | Oilers -130 v. Canucks | Top | 2-3 | Loss | -130 | 20 h 26 m | Show |
TOP RATED 10* SUNDAY NIGHT NHL NO-BRAINER This looks like a great spot to fade the Vancouver Canucks as they'll be playing the 2nd game of a back-to-back following a 5-1 win over Philadelphia Saturday night. They're 1-9 in their last 10 games playing on 0 days rest and and will host an Edmonton team which has won eight of its last 10 and five of the last seven meetings with the Nucks. 10* play on Edmonton Oilers.
12-14-18 | Capitals -124 v. Hurricanes | Top | 6-5 | Win | 100 | 9 h 26 m | Show |
TOP RATED 10* NHL PLAY OF THE DAY The Carolina Hurricanes took a 6-4 loss at Montreal Thursday night, and I just don't see how they could keep up with the defending Stanley Cup champions Washington Capitals Friday night. The Canes have dropped five of their last six overall are 2-5 in their last seven playing on no rest. The red hot Caps on the other hand have won 10 of their last 12 and have had two days of rest since putting a 6-2 beating on Detroit last time out. They've outscored opponents 14-4 during a three-game winning streak with two of those games on the road (Columbus and Arizona) and have won six of their last seven away from home. 10* play on Washington Capitals.
12-14-18 | Bruins +131 v. Penguins | 3-5 | Loss | -100 | 17 h 42 m | Show
FRIDAY NIGHT NHL POWER PLAY The Boston Bruins travel to Pittsburgh riding a three-game winning streak, and they should be well rested after getting two days off since beating Arizona 4-3 Tuesday night. The Pittsburgh Penguins on the other hand have had just one day off since wrapping up a three-game road trip with a 6-3 loss at NHL-worst Chicago for their second loss in three games. With the Bruins 18-5 in their last 23 games playing on two day of rest and Pittsburgh 3-10 in its last 13 games playing on one days rest I think that angle alone is enough to warrant a play here. We can also note that Bruins are 10-4 in their last 14 road games vs. a team with a losing home record. 8* play on Boston Bruins.
12-13-18 | Hurricanes v. Canadiens -111 | Top | 4-6 | Win | 100 | 11 h 28 m | Show |
GAME OF THE MONTH (NHL) Both the Montreal Canadiens and the Carolina Hurricanes will be looking to bounce back from disappointing losses when they clash at Bell Centre Thursday night. I expect the home team to be up for this and grab the win. The Canadiens suffered a 7-1 setback at Minnesota Tuesday night, their most lopsided defeat of the season. It's however not all that surprising that they came out flat in that contest IMO; note that the Habs had won three in a row prior and it was the finale of a three-game road trip. "We can choose to look at this two ways," Montreal forward Brendan Gallagher said. "It can crush us for a few games, or it can show the type of character that we have in this locker room." The Canes are in a slump with only one win through their last five games after taking a 4-1 home loss to Toronto Tuesday night. They've scored one goal or less in each of the fourth defeats and are averaging only 2.14 gpg on the road. 10* play on Montreal Canadiens.
12-11-18 | Maple Leafs -124 v. Hurricanes | Top | 4-1 | Win | 100 | 11 h 46 m | Show |
TOP RATED 10* NHL POWER PLAY The Toronto Maple Leafs will be looking to end a two-game slide when they visit the Carolina Hurricanes Tuesday night. They've had two days rest since taking a 6-3 loss at Boston on Saturday and are a perfect 6-0 in their last six games playing on two days rest and 11-4 in their last 15 road games. Here they'll face a Carolina team which managed to snap a three-game losing streak of its own with a 4-1 win at Anaheim Friday night. While rest is generally an advantage, note that Hurricanes are 18-38 in their last 56 games playing on three or more days rest. 10* play on Toronto Maple Leafs.
12-10-18 | Penguins v. Islanders +125 | Top | 2-1 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 29 m | Show |
GAME OF THE WEEK (NHL) The NY Islanders have won just two of their last six games but should be fired up for this one as they seek to avenge a 6-2 loss at Pittsburgh on Dec 6. The home team is 4-1 in the last five meetings and I really don't think the Islanders should be an underdog here. The Penguins took a 2-1 OT loss at Ottawa on Saturday and have won just one of their last eight on the road. The Islanders meanwhile showed great resilience as they battled back from an early two-goal deficit in a 3-2 win at Detroit last time out. This is a terrific price on the Islanders, considering they're the team with the better record and home ice advantage. 10* play on New York Islanders.
12-07-18 | Wild v. Oilers -120 | 2-7 | Win | 100 | 16 h 54 m | Show
NHL POWER PLAY The Edmonton Oilers are coming off a 3-2 SO win at St. Louis and have won four of their last five. They've played excellent defense during that stretch, allowing only a total of four goals in the wins and here they'll face a Minnesota team heading in the opposite directions having lost four of their last five and coming off a 2-0 loss at Carolina last night. Wild are 1-6 in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and playing on no rest against a streaking Oilers side will be a tough ask. 8* play on Edmonton Oilers.
12-06-18 | Capitals -110 v. Coyotes | Top | 4-2 | Win | 100 | 17 h 23 m | Show |
GAME OF THE WEEK (NHL) MONEYLINE The Washington Capitals will head into this contest looking to put an end to a two-game losing streak. They had won seven in a row before the mini-slide and here they'll face an Arizona team which may very well come out flat following four straight wins. The Capitals didn't practice Wednesday, a day off that gave them time to think about all they didn't like about their 5-3 loss in Las Vegas Tuesday night. Arizona has the confidence and the momentum, but the motivation is on the visitors side and this is a great price we're getting on the Caps. 10* play on Washington Capitals.
12-04-18 | Jets v. Islanders +125 | 3-1 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 40 m | Show
TUESDAY NIGHT NHL BOOKIE BREAKER The NY Islanders defeated Columbus 3-2 last time out to improve to 7-3-1 at home on the season. After this game, the Islanders will play six of their next nine games away from home so I think they'll want to make the most of this matchup with the Winnipeg Jets who may have won three on the bounce, but they're just 2-12 in their last 14 vs. a team with a winning record. The 13-9-1 Islanders fit the bill and this looks like too good of a price on the home team to pass up on. 8* play on NY Islanders.
12-03-18 | Lightning v. Devils +120 | 5-1 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 60 m | Show
MONDAY NIGHT NHL POWER PLAY The New Jersey Devils enter this game on a five-game losing streak, but three of those losses were in overtime. Small margins. They're a respectable 7-1-4 at Prudential Center and I think the price we get on the home team in this matchup is too good to pass up on. The NHL-best Tampa Bay Lightning might very well come out flat here after winning five of their last six and opening a three-game road trip with an OT triumph at Florida on Saturday. 8* play on New Jersey Devils.
11-30-18 | Devils +144 v. Capitals | 3-6 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 43 m | Show
NHL POWER PLAY The New Jersey Devils are just 2-9-1 on the road this season, but I think the price is way too good to pass up on the rested visitors here. The Devils have not played since a 4-3 OT loss at Florida Monday night and are a solid 10-4 in their last 14 games playing on three or more days rest. The Caps are in a letdown spot after reeling off six straight victories and might very well underestimate their opponent here. 8* play on New Jersey Devils.
11-28-18 | Blues -113 v. Red Wings | Top | 3-4 | Loss | -113 | 16 h 33 m | Show |
TOP RATED 10* NHL POWER PLAY The St. Louis Blues have dropped four of their last five and were booed off the ice by their own fans following an 8-4 loss to Winnipeg Saturday. "I think we haven't given them that much," Blues forward Patrick Maroon said. "We haven't given them St. Louis Blues hockey." That was however just a day after a solid 6-2 win over Nashville and the Blues should be more rested and better prepared for this matchup and they'll face a Red Wings team which has dropped three in row. The Blues are just 2-4-2 on the season, but keep in mind that they're 6-1 in the last seven meetings in Detroit and outscored the Red Wings 8-2 in a pair of wins last season. 10* play on St. Louis Blues.
11-27-18 | Hurricanes +100 v. Canadiens | Top | 2-1 | Win | 100 | 11 h 14 m | Show |
GAME OF THE WEEK (NHL) SIDE I love the price we get on the Carolina Hurricanes at Montreal Tuesday night. They had won three on the bounce prior to taking a 4-1 loss at New York Islanders on Saturday. That was however the second game of a back-to-back but they'll be well rested here and 24-9 in their last 33 vs. a team with a losing record. Montreal on the other hand has lost four consecutive games and we can note that the Hurricanes have won each of the last four meetings. 10* play on Carolina Hurricanes.
11-26-18 | Bruins v. Maple Leafs -135 | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 14 h 44 m | Show
MONDAY NIGHT NHL MONEYLINE MASSACRE I like the price we get on Toronto Maple Leafs as a home favorite against Boston Bruins Monday night. Toronto has outscored opponents 19-4 during a four-game win streak home at Scotiabank Arena and the Bruins are only 5-4-4 on the road. We can also note that the home team will be looking to avenge a 5-1 Bruins triumph over the Leafs at Boston on Nov. 10 and that they've won six of the last seven meetings in Toronto. 8* play on Toronto Maple Leafs.
11-24-18 | Stars v. Avalanche -155 | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 10 h 36 m | Show
NHL MONEYLINE MASSACRE The Colorado Avalanche look like a solid home favorite when hosting the Dallas Stars Saturday night. The Avs put a 5-1 beating on the Yotes at Arizona Friday night to improve to 5-0-1 through their last six games. The visiting Stars will also play on no rest following a 6-4 home win over Ottawa, but they've struggled on the road all season and lost four of their last five away from home. Colorado has won 10 of the last 13 meetings when holding home ice advantage, and that's a trend I expect to continue. 8* play on Colorado Avalanche.
11-21-18 | Avalanche -115 v. Kings | 7-3 | Win | 100 | 12 h 9 m | Show
LATE NIGHT NHL MONEYLINE MONEYMAKER The Los Angeles Kings are coming off a 2-0 win at St. Louis, but they're just 3-13 in their last 16 games following a win and in a tough spot here when hosting the Colorado Avalanche Wednesday night. This is the Kings fourth game in six nights, a situation where they've lost four of their last five, and they'll face an Avs team in a decent groove having won three of its last four games. The Avs are averaging an NHL third-best 3.55 goals per contest while LA ranks dead last at 2.00 gpg. 8* play on Colorado Avalanche.
11-20-18 | Oilers v. Sharks -175 | 4-3 | Loss | -175 | 14 h 24 m | Show
NHL NO-BRAINER The Edmonton Oilers have dropped six of their last seven after Sunday's 6-3 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights. Their No. 1 goaltender Cam Talbot has lost five straight starts while posting a 4.63 goals-against average. Bad time to take on a Sharks team which has won three of its last four games and scored three goals or more in each contest during that stretch. We can also note that Edmonton has surrendered 15 goals while losing three straight meetings with San Jose. The Sharks are tied for first in the Pacific Division standings much thanks to strong play home in the Shark Tank where they're 7-3-0-1 on the season. We're asked to lay a lot of juice, but I'm confident the home team will prove itself well worth the price. 8* play on San Jose Sharks.
11-18-18 | Avalanche -125 v. Ducks | 4-3 | Win | 100 | 11 h 51 m | Show
SUNDAY NIGHT NHL POWER PLAY The Anaheim Ducks have lost three of their last four and scored only a total of four goals during that stretch. They're next-to-last in the NHL in scoring at 2.05 goals a game and I don't think they'll be able to keep up with this high-octane Avs offense. Colorado had scored 10 goals in back-to-back victories over Edmonton and Boston prior to taking a 3-2 OT loss to the defending Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals Friday. "We've got to get rested and get ready to give more effort," Colorado center Colin Wilson said. "We're a team that can win every game when we do that." I like Colorado to get the win here. 8* play on Colorado Avalanche.
11-14-18 | Ducks v. Golden Knights -165 | 0-5 | Win | 100 | 13 h 41 m | Show
WEDNESDAY NIGHT NHL MONEYLINE MASSACRE The Vegas Golden Knights are just 3-8-0 on the road following a 4-1 setback at Boston on Sunday, but they own a winning record home at T-Mobile Arena and have won four of five all-time meetings with the Ducks. Anaheim is 3-5-0 on the road this season and might have to do without defenseman Cam Fowler. The Ducks are scoring just 2.21 gpg and here they'll face Vegas netminder Marc-Andre Fleury who is 10-4-0 with a 2.22 GAA against Anaheim. 8* play on Vegas Golden Knights.
11-13-18 | Penguins -110 v. Devils | Top | 2-4 | Loss | -110 | 12 h 53 m | Show |
GAME OF THE MONTH (NHL) This is not a good spot for the New Jersey Devils who have just had one day off since coming home from an exhausting 1-6 road trip. "It's a pretty brutal road trip coming to an end and we didn't do what it took to win on the road consistently," forward Kyle Palmieri told reporters. Here the Devils will host a Pittsburgh Penguins team which snapped a five-game slide with a 4-0 victory against Arizona on Saturday. The Pens are 4-1 in the last five meetings at Prudential Center and they'll be seeking revenge for a 5-1 home loss to New Jersey earlier this month. Pittsburgh is so much better than it has shown in recent games and I expect the Pens to come out fired up here against the Metropolitan Division cellar-dwellers. 10* play on Pittsburgh Penguins.
11-07-18 | Predators -120 v. Avalanche | Top | 4-1 | Win | 100 | 13 h 42 m | Show |
TOP RATED 10* WEDNESDAY NIGHT NHL POWER PLAY The Nashville Predators have won three in a row and allowed only two goals during that stretch. Colorado has lost three in a row and conceded 16 goals in those losses. The Preds are perfect 6-0-0 on the road this season and 14-2 in the last 16 meetings with the Avs. We can also note that the visitors will be playing on a solid three days of rest, a situation in which they're 7-2 last nine. This almost looks too easy but I don't think the Preds will let us down. 10* play on Nashville Predators.
11-06-18 | Devils -125 v. Senators | Top | 3-7 | Loss | -125 | 10 h 35 m | Show |
GAME OF THE WEEK (NHL) The New Jersey Devils had lost six of their last seven prior to picking up an impressive 5-1 win at Pittsburgh Monday night. Keep in mind that they're 8-1 in their last nine vs. a team with a losing record, and I like them to get the job done when visiting Ottawa despite playing on no rest. The Senators have lost six of their last seven and have among the worst penalty kill percentages in the league (68.6%) while New Jersey's power play units is one most efficient at 27.5%. We can also note that the Devils are expected to give netminder Cory Schneider his third start of the season. He owns a 6-3-1 career record behind a solid 1.94 GAA against the Senators. 10* play on New Jersey Devils.
11-01-18 | Capitals v. Canadiens +110 | Top | 4-6 | Win | 110 | 10 h 14 m | Show |
NHL BIG HITTER (10* TOP PLAY) The Montreal Canadiens have alternated wins and losses through their last six games and took a 4-1 loss to Dallas their last time out. Canadiens are 20-6 in their last 26 games following a home loss of three or more goals and I love the price we get on the home team in this matchup. The Habs will face a Washington team in a let down spot off a 4-3 SO win at Calgary and this will be the Caps fourth straight on the road. We can also note that Washington has yet to claim back-to-back victories on the season. 10* play on Montreal Canadiens.
10-29-18 | Flames v. Maple Leafs -140 | 3-1 | Loss | -140 | 7 h 24 m | Show
MONDAY NIGHT NHL NO-BRAINER The Toronto Maple Leafs will have to do without Auston Matthew in Monday's matchup with the Flames, but I still think they'll beat Calgary rather comfortably. The Flames have been outscored 16-6 in three consecutive losses and allowed five goals while shorthanded during that stretch. Here they'll face a Toronto team which has the second best power play in the NHL with a 32.1 percent conversion rate. Flames are 4-10 in their last 14 vs. Eastern Conference while Maple Leafs are 11-2 in their last 13 vs. Western Conference. Maple Leafs are 14-3 in the last 17 meetings in Toronto. 8* play on Toronto Maple Leafs.
10-27-18 | Capitals +100 v. Flames | 4-3 | Win | 100 | 17 h 40 m | Show
SATURDAY NHL POWER PLAY The Washington Capitals have had a somewhat disappointing start to their title defending campaign and have yet to string together back-to-back wins. They took a 4-1 loss at Edmonton Thursday night, but it's only a matter of time before the Caps find their rhythm and I think they look good to bounce back and pick up a win at Calgary on Saturday. The Flames have been outscored 12-3 in their last two games combined and netminder Mike Smith has allowed at least four goals in five of his past seven starts. We can also note that the road team is 6-2 in the last eight meetings. 8* play on Washington Capitals.
10-26-18 | Jets -1.5 v. Red Wings | Top | 2-1 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 53 m | Show |
GAME OF THE MONTH (NHL): MIKE'S BEST PUCKLINE BET FOR OCTOBER The Winnipeg Jets visit the lowly Detroit Red Wings Friday night, and I think we'll see an easy win for the visitors. Detroit has won just one game all season (1-6-2) and each of its last five defeats were by at least two goals. Here the Red Wings will face a Winnipeg team which had won three straight before taking a 4-2 loss to Toronto Wednesday. Note that the Jets are 10-4 in their last 14 after scoring two goals or less in their previous game while Red Wings are 1-10 in their last 11 when their opponent scores two goals or less in their previous game. The Jets have scored at least one power play goal in six games while Detroit has struggled when shorthanded and allowed Carolina to convert on two of three chances with a man advantage Monday night. 10* play on Winnipeg Jets.
10-24-18 | Panthers v. Islanders -107 | Top | 3-2 | Loss | -107 | 9 h 0 m | Show |
NHL BIG HITTER (10* TOP PLAY) The New York Islanders are 3-4 on the season despite playing just two games at home. They're off a four game trek and will hit the road for another three games after this matchup with the Panthers, so I think they'll want to make the most of this contest at Barclays Center. The energy levels should be high as they've had three days rest since a 4-1 loss at San Jose on Saturday while the Panthers will play on no rest (lost 4-1 at New York Rangers Tuesday night) and this is the visitors fourth game in six nights. 10* play on New York Islanders.
10-23-18 | Sharks v. Predators -120 | 5-4 | Loss | -120 | 13 h 12 m | Show
NHL MONEYLINE MASSACRE The Nashville Predators are an NHL-best 7-1-0 on the season. Their star netminder and reigning Vezina Trophy winner Pekka Rinne left Friday's 5-3 victory at Calgary with an undisclosed injury, but note that backup goalie Juuse Saros is 4-0-0 with a 1.54 GAA on the season. The San Jose Sharks are coming off a pair of wins as big home favorites against Buffalo and NY Islanders, but dropped a pair of decisions on the road prior to that. Sharks are 8-20 in their last 28 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600. The Predators have won four of the last five head-to-head matchups overall and six straight encounters at home. 8* play on Nashville Predators.
10-22-18 | Blues v. Jets -145 | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 9 h 59 m | Show
MONDAY NIGHT NHL POWER PLAY The Winnipeg Jets are 4-0-1 home at Bell MTS Centre on the season and look like a solid favorite here as they host St. Louis Monday night. The Blues ended a three-game skid with a 4-1 victory at Toronto on Saturday, but this is a tough spot in the finale of a three-game trip through Canada. The Jets beat St. Louis 5-1 on opening night and they've won nine of the last 11 head-to-head matchups. Trends supporting Winnipeg: Blues are 6-18 in their last 24 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600. Jets are 37-16 in their last 53 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400. 8* play on Winnipeg Jets.
10-18-18 | Flyers v. Blue Jackets -145 | 3-6 | Win | 100 | 8 h 11 m | Show
THURSDAY NIGHT NHL POWER PLAY The Columbus Blue Jackets had won back-to-back games prior to an 8-2 loss at Tampa Bay last Saturday. Sergei Bobrovsky had a nightmare between the pipes, but he's looking good to lead the Blue Jackets to a win here with a 10-3-1 record behind a 1.91 goals-against average and .933 save percentage in 14 career meetings with the Flyers. And the visitors know what they're up against: "He's unreal. He plays amazing against us every time," Flyers defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere said, via the Philadelphia Inquirer. "I think he's the hardest goalie to score on." I like the price we get on Columbus to bounce back in front of the home town crowd. Trends supporting Columbus: Blue Jackets are 13-3 in their last 16 games playing on 3 or more days rest. Blue Jackets are 6-2 in their last eight after scoring two goals or less in their previous game. Flyers are 0-6 in their last six after scoring 5 goals or more in their previous game (they're off a 6-5 OT win against Florida). 8* play on Columbus Blue Jackets.
10-16-18 | Panthers v. Flyers -110 | 5-6 | Win | 100 | 13 h 16 m | Show
TUESDAY NIGHT NHL NO-BRAINER The Florida Panthers are still looking for their first win of the season, and I think their search will extend beyond this matchup with the Philadelphia Flyers Tuesday night. Philly took a hard-luck 1-0 loss to Vegas on Saturday, playing arguably its best game of the season and out-shooting the Knights 26-12. "No matter how good you play, if you don't find a way to win, it's useless," forward Jakub Voracek told the media. "We all know we had a good game against Vegas. Did we win? No. I'd rather get outshot 40 to 15 and win 2-1, but like I said, I think defensively that was our best game." The Panthers have opened the season with three straight defeats, including back-to-back home losses to Columbus and Vancouver. I'm not quite sure if going on the road is what they need to turn it around. We can note that he home team has won each of the last five games in this matchup and the Flyers have won each of the last four at home against Florida. 8* play on Philadelphia Flyers.
10-15-18 | Kings v. Maple Leafs -1.5 | Top | 1-4 | Win | 148 | 18 h 22 m | Show |
MONDAY NIGHT NHL ESPN ENFORCER (10* TOP PLAY) The Toronto Maple Leafs have reeled off four straight victories and they've won the last three by two goals or more. The Leafs are coming off an impressive 4-2 triumph over last season's Stanley Cup champions Washington and center Auston Matthews is on absolute fire with a league-leading 10 goals through six games. I expect Toronto to have plenty of success on the man advantage here as it has converted on 47.1% of its opportunities on the season while the Kings have killed off only 73.3% of their penalties. The LA Kings took a 5-1 beating at Ottawa on Saturday. This is the finale of a four-game road trip for the Kings, and they might look ahead to next matchup with the Islanders at home. The Kings are 1-6 in their last eight road games and the home team is 7-1 in the last eight meetings with Toronto. 10* play on Toronto Maple Leafs -1.5.
10-15-18 | Red Wings v. Canadiens OVER 5.5 | 3-7 | Win | 100 | 7 h 50 m | Show
MONDAY NIGHT RED WINGS @ CANADIENS TOTAL The Detroit Red Wings opened a four-game road trip with an 8-2 loss at Boston. I think we'll see plenty of goals again as they visit the Montreal Canadiens Monday night. Detroit dead last in the league in goals allowed at 4.40 gpg and netminder Jimmy Howard owns an .871 save percentage against Montreal in his career. The Habs are hardly a high-scoring team, but they defeated Pittsburgh 4-3 in a shootout their last time out, despite going just 1-for-6 on the power play. 8* play on OVER.
10-13-18 | Sabres v. Coyotes UNDER 5.5 | Top | 3-0 | Win | 100 | 17 h 7 m | Show |
GAME OF THE WEEK (NHL): MIKE'S TOP RATED 10* NHL TOTAL The Buffalo Sabres had allowed just three goals through their first two games of the season before taking a 6-1 loss to Colorado their last time out. Arizona had been shut out in back-to-back games prior to earning their first win of the season with a 3-2 SO triumph at Anaheim. The Coyotes have only allowed a total of six goals in three games and I think this will be another low-scoring contest. Under is 5-1 in the last six meetings at Gila River Arena. 10* play on UNDER.
10-11-18 | Avalanche v. Sabres -106 | 6-1 | Loss | -106 | 16 h 4 m | Show
AVALANCHE @ SABRES MONEYLINE MASSACRE The Buffalo Sabres opened the season with a shutout loss against Boston, but they've bounced back nicely with back-to-back home triumphs over New York Rangers and Vegas. This will be their last home game before embarking on a five-game road swing, and I think they'll close out the homestand with a win. Colorado had won back-to-back home games prior to taking a 5-2 loss at Columbus its last time out. The Avs are much stronger at home than away from home, entering this contest with a 17-52 record in their last 69 road games. We can also note that Buffalo netminder Carter Hutton is 5-1 with a 2.24 GAA in his career against Colorado. 8* play on Buffalo Sabres.
10-10-18 | Coyotes v. Ducks UNDER 5.5 | Top | 3-2 | Win | 100 | 24 h 32 m | Show |
WEDNESDAY NIGHT NHL TOTAL (10* TOP PLAY) The Anaheim Ducks defeated the Coyotes 1-0 in Phoenix on Saturday night. I think we'll see another low-scoring contest when the two teams face off in the Duck Pond Wednesday night. Arizona has yet to score a goal this season and it was the second lowest scoring team in the NHL last season at 2.51 goals per game. This is a team that does not give up many goals either though and we can note that Arizona netminder Antti Raanta has posted a 1.66 GAA in previous meetings with the Ducks. Under is 5-2-1 in the last eight meetings. 10* play on UNDER.
10-09-18 | Sharks -108 v. Flyers | Top | 8-2 | Win | 100 | 11 h 18 m | Show |
TUESDAY NIGHT NHL BOOKIE BREAKER (10* TOP PLAY) The San Jose Sharks opened a five-game road swing with a 4-0 loss at New York Islanders Monday night. They'll get the chance to bounce back right away here at Philadelphia, and I think they'll get the win here. Note that Sharks are 10-4 in their last 14 games following a loss of three or more goals and playing on no rest shouldn't be much of an issue this early in the season. Philadelphia has split its first two games of the season after taking a 5-2 loss at Colorado on Saturday. The Flyers will have to do without James van Riemsdyk who sustained a lower-body injury in the loss to the Avs, and his absence will surely weaken this Flyers side. 10* play on San Jose Sharks. |
