01-17-22 | Suns -3.5 v. Spurs | Top | 121-107 | Win | 100 | 5 h 57 m | Show |
Since that Pistons game, the Spurs have won just two of its last 11 contests. The Spurs’ most-used starting lineup of Murray, White, Keldon Johnson, Doug McDermott and Jakob Poeltl hasn’t played together since the win over the Lakers on Dec. 23. San Antonio is getting close to being back to 100%, though. All of its starters are out of COVID health and safety protocols. Tread lightly because this number does cause me to pause.
01-17-22 | Raptors v. Heat -3 | 99-104 | Win | 100 | 4 h 49 m | Show
Just because they are missing their point guard — and we know how influential he is — doesn’t mean this Heat team isn’t a threat. They currently sit third in the East, and despite dealing with injury after injury, have played extremely well. It’s the first matchup between these two teams this season, and it will definitely be interesting to see how this new Raptors team does. If the past few games have been any indication — after hanging with the league-best Phoenix Suns, losing to the league-worst Detroit Pistons and then winning against the defending champion Milwaukee Bucks — anything can happen. I can't bet on inconsistency.
01-16-22 | Warriors +5 v. Wolves | 99-119 | Loss | -110 | 6 h 33 m | Show
Neither Curry nor Green will be playing in this one for the Warriors so wait until the last minute to get the best number. There will be a complete overreaction but let's not forget this is still a bad T'wolves team.
01-16-22 | Jazz v. Nuggets +5 | Top | 125-102 | Loss | -102 | 6 h 42 m | Show |
The Denver Nuggets will take on the Utah Jazz tonight in hopes of beating them for the first time this season. The two teams faced off twice this season and Utah has scored 115+ points in each matchup. While the Nugget offense has struggled frequently this season, that has not been the case against the Jazz. They scored 110 in the first matchup and 109 points in the second.
01-16-22 | Rockets v. Kings -5.5 | Top | 118-112 | Loss | -110 | 4 h 57 m | Show |
One game after setting a season-high in scoring in a game against the Los Angeles Lakers, Sacramento forward Marvin Bagley III did it again Friday against the Houston Rockets, producing his fourth double-double with 26 points and 13 rebounds in a 126-114 win at home. Bagley was instrumental in the Kings' victory and if Sacramento is to complete a sweep of its back-to-back against the Rockets, with the second game slated for Sunday at Sacramento, the Kings will need more of the production he has delivered of late. I think they win this one easy.
01-15-22 | Lakers v. Nuggets -3.5 | Top | 96-133 | Win | 100 | 7 h 43 m | Show |
Those small-ball deficiencies were on full display Wednesday, as the Lakers’ weak point-of-attack defense caused them to give up 70 points in the paint to the Kings, the most they had given up in any game this season. This has been a trend this week, as they gave up 62 points in the paint to the Grizzlies on Sunday, their third-highest mark of the year. Until that changes, I can't back them to cash a ticket.
01-15-22 | Clippers +2 v. Spurs | 94-101 | Loss | -110 | 6 h 20 m | Show
The Clippers will rely on their tough team defense; they are fourth in defensive rating. Nicolas Batum and his springy arms will help the team slow down the Spurs pace and also deflect easy passes to the paint or to the wings. A gritty Marcus Morris Sr. can and will slow down players anywhere on the floor — his large frame and athleticism allow him to stay firm when the Spurs are in the paint. The hard-blocking duo of Ivica Zubac and Serge Ibaka will also help protect the paint.
01-15-22 | Knicks +2.5 v. Hawks | Top | 117-108 | Win | 100 | 5 h 7 m | Show |
The Knicks are coming off a 108-85 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday. New York has won two straight and seven of its last 10. Atlanta gave up a seven-point fourth-quarter lead and dropped a 124-118 decision to the Miami Heat on Friday. The Hawks have lost four in a row and eight of their last 10. The Hawks are 3 1/2 games outside the final playoff spot, currently held by New York.
01-10-22 | Spurs v. Knicks -6 | 96-111 | Win | 100 | 5 h 33 m | Show
Poor rebounding was one of the things that came back to haunt the Spurs in their first meeting with New York. They didn’t clean the glass when the Knicks bricked shots, which led to a whopping 17 offensive boards and 21 second-chance points. The Silver and Black were left scrambling around the court to recover onto wide-open shooters when they couldn’t box out two big lineups, and the Knicks made them pay for their lack of frontcourt depth. Mitchell Robinson, Nerlens Noel, Julius Randle, Obi Toppin, and Taj Gibson measure between six-eight and seven-feet tall, and San Antonio is 0-7 when they allow at least 15 offensive rebounds.
01-09-22 | Nuggets -7 v. Thunder | Top | 99-95 | Loss | -110 | 12 h 45 m | Show |
Oklahoma City’s defense has impressed at times throughout the season (especially as of late) but is still vulnerable when it comes to defending beyond the arc. Opponents have attempted 40.8 percent of their total shot attempts from deep against the Thunder, the third-highest frequency in the league. Even more damaging for Oklahoma City’s defense is that teams have connected on 36.3 percent of those attempts, a top-10 percentage in the league. After a slow start from downtown to begin the season, the Nuggets come on in recent weeks and are up to 34.6 percent from beyond the arc on the year. 3-point attempts have accounted for 38.2 percent of Denver’s total shot attempts, a frequency near the top 10 of the league.
01-08-22 | Heat v. Suns -8.5 | 123-100 | Loss | -110 | 17 h 53 m | Show
The Phoenix Suns have gotten back Deandre Ayton, JaVale McGee and Jae Crowder, who missed a few games while under the NBA’s health and safety protocols. They are now as healthy as any team in the league and should cruise in this one.
01-08-22 | Magic v. Pistons -2 | Top | 92-97 | Win | 100 | 15 h 48 m | Show |
Obviously not a marquee match-up but it's definitely a winner. Why? Because the Pistons are still working hard on defense. They are 7-30 but we know we'll get their best effort and against the Magic that's good enough for a blowout win.
01-07-22 | Hawks v. Lakers -2.5 | 118-134 | Win | 100 | 7 h 60 m | Show
The Lakers (20-19) have yet to win four games in a row this season, but they have a chance to accomplish that and climb past the Dallas Mavericks (20-18) for fifth place in the Western Conference on Friday when they host on the struggling Atlanta Hawks at The Crypt. And aside from the stylistic clash between the Lakers’ small-ball lineup vs. the Hawks’ big lineup, this game will mostly come down to defense.
01-07-22 | Wizards v. Bulls -5.5 | 122-130 | Win | 100 | 5 h 11 m | Show
The Wizards have seven players either on the Covid list or injured. That's not the side I'm going to be on against the scorching hot Bulls.
01-06-22 | Pistons v. Grizzlies -12.5 | 88-118 | Win | 100 | 6 h 16 m | Show
The Memphis Grizzlies come into Thursday night’s game against Detroit as one of the league’s hottest teams. They are riding a 6-game win streak after escaping Cleveland with a 110-106 win Tuesday night. It’s the Grizzlies third winning streak of at least 5 games this season. They sit firmly in the four spot in the Western Conference, with a five game lead over both Denver in the 5 spot and Dallas in their division.
01-05-22 | Warriors -5.5 v. Mavs | Top | 82-99 | Loss | -106 | 7 h 59 m | Show |
Dallas is still without several key players. Trey Burke (health and safety protocols) is questionable; Willie Cauley-Stein (personal reasons) is out; Boban Marjanović (health and safety protocols) is out; Kristaps Porzingis (health and safety protocols) is out; Isaiah Thomas (health and safety protocols) is out. Dirk is getting his jersey retired after the game in an effort to ensure the Mavericks are not distracted but I've seen too many of these special nights not go the home team's way, no matter when the ceremony is held.
01-04-22 | Suns -7.5 v. Pelicans | Top | 123-110 | Win | 100 | 7 h 58 m | Show |
Phoenix has won seven of its last 10, led by its deep and balanced roster. During this most recent stretch, the Suns have eight different players averaging double figures. Devin Booker is playing to form, averaging more than 24 points per game. Chris Paul and DeAndre Ayton remain a lethal pick and roll combo. Monty Williams has scored in the post and on the perimeter on his bench as well. If that wasn’t enough to deal with, the Suns are as good as anyone in the NBA at stopping teams from scoring.
01-04-22 | Pacers v. Knicks -2.5 | 94-104 | Win | 100 | 6 h 7 m | Show
The loss was the fourth straight for the Pacers, who have seven players in COVID-19 protocol after Caris LeVert and Goga Bitadze were added to the list prior to tip-off Sunday. Malcolm Brogdon, Chris Duarte, Isaiah Jackson, Jeremy Lamb and Kelan Martin are also sidelined in protocol. Brogdon, LeVert and Duarte rank first, third and fifth, respectively, for the Pacers in scoring. The Pacers put themselves in position for a stirring win Sunday by mounting a 22-9 run to take an 84-73 lead with three minutes left in the third quarter. But the Cavaliers scored the final 15 points of the period and led by as many as nine in the fourth quarter. Indiana fell to 2-7 since a three-game winning streak that ended Dec.
01-04-22 | Spurs v. Raptors -6.5 | 104-129 | Win | 100 | 6 h 51 m | Show
Another day, another Toronto Raptors game in an empty arena against a depleted opponent. Tonight, the San Antonio Spurs make their annual trip to Toronto, minus their best player, while the Raptors are — for the second game in a row! — at full strength. Raptors-Spurs games have had some extra juice the past couple of years, thanks to DeMar DeRozan; with DeRozan now doing it all in Chicago, only Jakob Poeltl remains to hold down the “former Raptor” fort. These aren’t the same Spurs anymore, anyway. At 14-21, they’re off to one of the slowest starts of the Gregg Popovich era, and have lost three straight. Dejounte Murray, who’s having a sensational season, is currently in the health and safety protocols, meaning the Raptors have a golden opportunity to take advantage of another weakened opponent, to seal up their third straight win and to get their core players more minutes together.
01-03-22 | Rockets v. 76ers -13.5 | 113-133 | Win | 100 | 6 h 28 m | Show
This game has to be on the card after the news of two key suspensions. Kevin Porter Jr and Christian Wood are suspended for tonight's game with two separate incidents. This Rockets team has had a poor culture for a long time. Sixers roll the Rockets.
01-02-22 | Suns -2 v. Hornets | 133-99 | Win | 100 | 8 h 14 m | Show
The Phoenix Suns suffered their worst-looking loss of the past two months on the morning of New Year’s Eve, getting down by 30 points (65-35) in the first half to a Boston team on a three-game losing streak. All-Star guards Devin Booker and Chris Paul were really bad, combining to shoot 31% from the field while taking 40% of the team’s shots. This doesn't sway my opinion at all. the Suns roll against the Hornets who are in over their head in this one.
01-01-22 | Bulls -2.5 v. Wizards | 120-119 | Loss | -110 | 12 h 59 m | Show
Chicago has been on a tear of late. The Bulls are tied for the longest active winning streak in the league at five and have won nine of their last 11 games overall. They’ve done this even while facing sporadic absences from lead guards Zach LaVine, Alex Caruso, and Lonzo Ball.
12-31-21 | Blazers v. Lakers -5 | Top | 106-139 | Win | 100 | 9 h 58 m | Show |
The Portland Trailblazers may be just what the doctor ordered for the Los Angeles Lakers. With both teams struggling, it's the Blazers that seem the most lost against the oppositions big men. We saw that against Dallas and Utah, so it's hard to believe that they'll be able to handle D'andre Jordan in this one.
12-31-21 | Wolves v. Jazz -12.5 | Top | 108-120 | Loss | -104 | 6 h 19 m | Show |
Minnesota fell to the New York Knicks in the second game of a back-to-back on Tuesday, 96-88. The loss marked the first time in 20 games the Timberwolves failed to reach 100 points. Guard Malik Beasley led the Wolves with 20 points, but the team struggled to connect from the floor all game, going 7-of-38 from the three-point line in the loss. The Utah Jazz, meanwhile, are in the midst of a five-game winning streak. Utah defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 120-105 on Wednesday led by center Rudy Gobert's 22 points and 14 rebounds. This season, the Jazz have won both meetings to date versus Minnesota, including a 128-116 victory over the Wolves on Dec. 23 in Utah.
12-30-21 | Bucks -14 v. Magic | 136-118 | Win | 100 | 3 h 7 m | Show
In the Bucks’ 127-110 road win over the Magic on Tuesday, forward Giannis Antetokounmpo scored a team-high 28 points in 30 minutes played. Forward Khris Middleton also closed out his performance with 21 points, 2.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 31 minutes of action. In the second quarter, the Bucks outscored the Magic 40 to 21. While Milwaukee allowed 50 points in the free throw lane, the team had an excellent showing offensively. They shot 47-for-85 (55.3%) from the field and 17-for-37 (45.9%) from three-point range. Including this win, the Bucks have won four consecutive games. They are now 11-8 away, 12-5 at home and 10-9 ATS on the road. The team ranks third in the Eastern Conference.
12-29-21 | Jazz -7 v. Blazers | Top | 120-105 | Win | 100 | 11 h 32 m | Show |
The Portland Trail Blazers have their backs firmly against the wall. They are losing games at an alarming rate and with head coach Chauncey Billups and seven players out due to the NBA’s COVID-19 health and safety protocols, things could become much worse before they get better for the Blazers. Portland lost its 11th game in 14 outings Monday night, 132-117 to Dallas at home. The Blazers (13-20) entered Tuesday night in 11th place in the Western Conference and appear to be a lot closer to capturing a top-five pick in the 2022 NBA draft than they do a top-six seed in the NBA playoffs.
12-28-21 | Nuggets v. Warriors -7.5 | Top | 89-86 | Loss | -103 | 8 h 30 m | Show |
The Nuggets remain one of the most inconsistent teams in the NBA on a night-to-night basis. They can hang with the league’s top teams one night before getting blown out by teams that will be picking in the top five next summer in the draft. After the starters were carrying the bench for the first month and a half of the season, the bench has been doing the heavy lifting as of late to keep the team in games. The stars need to start carrying their weight again.
12-28-21 | Knicks -3.5 v. Wolves | Top | 96-88 | Win | 100 | 6 h 8 m | Show |
As of Monday, the Knicks were in decent shape, with only three players — C Nerlens Noel, G Miles McBride and F Jericho Sims — in the league's health and safety protocols. Sims, a Minneapolis native who played at Texas, was in 10 NBA games before going into protocols Thursday. I know the Wolves were terrific against the Celtics with their entire starting line-up out but reality hits them hard tonight.
12-28-21 | 76ers -6.5 v. Raptors | 114-109 | Loss | -110 | 6 h 30 m | Show
The Sixers will be without Danny Green (health and safety protocols), Andre Drummond (health and safety protocols), Shake Milton (health and safety protocols), and Ben Simmons (personal reasons) Tuesday, while the Raptors have 12 players listed on their Tuesday morning injury report. I can't back a team with 12 players out.
12-27-21 | Nets -3.5 v. Clippers | 124-108 | Win | 100 | 20 h 7 m | Show
The Nets are one of the best, if not thee best, defensive teams in the league. They'll face a Clippers team playing the second of back to back nights in addition to being one of the leagues worst defensive teams.
12-27-21 | Mavs +1 v. Blazers | 132-117 | Win | 100 | 19 h 24 m | Show
With losses in 11 of their last 14 games, the Blazers have been spinning in the wrong direction lately. And most of the games haven’t been close, as eight of those 11 losses have been by 10 or more points, including three by 22 or more points. . .After winning at home against Charlotte (125-116) on Dec. 17 and at Memphis (105-100) on Dec. 19, the Blazers lost at New Orleans (111-97) last Tuesday. That’s the last time the Blazers played a game. That’s because their contest this past Thursday against Brooklyn was postponed due to a plethora of COVID-19 cases at that time with the Nets which left Brooklyn without the minimum number of eight available players required to play the game
12-26-21 | Nuggets -3.5 v. Clippers | 103-100 | Loss | -110 | 10 h 51 m | Show
The LA Clippers announced on Christmas that All-Star forward Paul George had torn a ligament in his elbow. With the team set to reevaluate PG in about a month, the Clippers will have to find a way to win games without both Paul George and Kawhi Leonard. Their first test with this new obstacle will be the Denver Nuggets. While hit hard by injuries themselves, the Nuggets will have by far the best player on the floor in this game. The 2021 MVP Nikola Jokic is off to another MVP-caliber start to this season. The big man is averaging 25.9 PPG, 13.5 RPG, and 7.2 APG. He is doing it on a ridiculous 57.5% from the field. If the season were to end today, Jokic would become the first player in NBA history to average 25/13/7 in a season.
12-26-21 | 76ers -3 v. Wizards | 117-96 | Win | 100 | 7 h 5 m | Show
Beal is out of the line-up for the Wizards but somehow the number is just three. I'm well aware that they've won two straight without Beal but Philadelphia isn't New York. I think the Sixers beat the Wizards handily.
12-20-21 | Spurs v. Clippers -4.5 | Top | 116-92 | Loss | -108 | 10 h 20 m | Show |
After a tough loss to the OKC Thunder, the LA Clippers are looking to bounce back at home against the San Antonio Spurs. Currently sitting at 11-18, the Spurs are one of the worst teams in the Western Conference. With several teams right behind them in the standings, the Clippers need to win games like these, especially after falling to the last place Thunder on Saturday.
12-20-21 | Hornets v. Jazz -11.5 | 102-112 | Loss | -102 | 9 h 1 m | Show
Just one game removed from the Hornets returning all five players sidelined after positive COVID-19 tests early in the month, Cody Martin has entered health and safety protocols. Granted, losing one player is a bit easier to stomach than losing five, but the NBA’s 30th-ranked defense can ill afford to be without a perimeter stopper (and 3-point shooter) of Martin’s caliber for very long. Charlotte’s season-long trend of spotting their opponent an inordinate number of points in the first half has continued as of late, giving up 81 points to Portland and 69 to Phoenix in the first 24 minutes. At this point, the defensive lapses aren’t caused one any one group — coaches, players, front office, etc. Everyone has work to do tonight if the Hornets hope to limit the league’s no. 1 offense enough to give themselves a chance to compete.
12-19-21 | Hornets +7.5 v. Suns | 106-137 | Loss | -104 | 7 h 48 m | Show
Something doesn't smell right in this match-up. The Sunds are much smaller favorites than my numbers indicate they should be and major money has come in on the Hornets on the ML. We'll follow the scent in this one.
12-19-21 | Blazers v. Grizzlies -5.5 | Top | 105-100 | Loss | -107 | 4 h 30 m | Show |
While the Trail Blazers have struggled with defense, the Grizzlies definitely have not. It’s a tough matchup for Portland when their opponents are good defenders, which is going to be an issue with Memphis. The Blazers are going to need to find ways around it, and also play good defense of their own. I think that's too much to ask in this one.
12-19-21 | Heat -7.5 v. Pistons | Top | 90-100 | Loss | -102 | 4 h 22 m | Show |
It will be the second game between these two franchises in this 2021/22 NBA regular season. The previous one occurred a little less than a month ago, on November 23. On that occasion, the Heat beat the Pistons 100-92 with a great performance from Tyler Herro who converted 31 points for Miami. The objectives of each team are quite different: it is clear that with 4-23 they cannot aspire to great things this season and it will be better if they continue with their tanking plan. On the side of the Miami Heat, they have a great opportunity against a weak team to add a victory that would put them on the same line as the Bucks, today 3rd in the Conference.
12-18-21 | Cavs -2.5 v. Bucks | Top | 119-90 | Win | 100 | 6 h 9 m | Show |
The Milwaukee Bucks are facing not only a back-to-back but a severely depleted roster as they continue to patch together a team amidst injuries and the health and safety protocols. They fly back to Milwaukee to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers Saturday night.
12-17-21 | Bucks -2 v. Pelicans | 112-116 | Loss | -102 | 6 h 19 m | Show
The debut of Donte DiVincenzo was sadly delayed on Wednesday due to entering the health and safety protocols, but even down seven guys, the Indiana Pacers were no match for the Bucks. Behind a stellar 26 points and 14 assists from Jrue Holiday, who commanded oodles of attention from the Pacers defense, Bobby Portis (20 pts, 9 reb) and Pat Connaughton (20 pts) poured in baskets too. A 25-5 run in the fourth left the Pacers scrambling, and Milwaukee notched a solid divisional win on a night when they had every excuse to lose.
12-17-21 | Warriors -3.5 v. Celtics | 111-107 | Win | 100 | 6 h 33 m | Show
Golden State enters with the NBA's best record at 23-5. After holding New York to 36.1 percent shooting (30 of 83), the Warriors remain the only team that has not allowed an opponent to shoot 50 percent or better from the floor this season. Curry's co-star in the Bay Area is inching closer to a return as guard Klay Thompson was recalled from G-League affiliate Santa Cruz on Wednesday, along with promising young center James Wiseman.
12-16-21 | Knicks -4.5 v. Rockets | 116-103 | Win | 100 | 5 h 0 m | Show
When these two teams played at the Garden last month, the total points scored were 205. The total has gone under in 12 of the Knicks’ last 18 games while the total has gone over in six of the Rockets’ last eight games. Houston’s over record is 13-15 and the Knicks’ record is 12-16. If the Knicks’ defense can get themselves together, then this under should hit.
12-16-21 | 76ers +1 v. Nets | 105-114 | Loss | -110 | 5 h 50 m | Show
Brooklyn will head into this game short-handed as it has seven players who have entered the NBA's health and safety protocols. Despite only having eight players, the Nets defeated the Toronto Raptors 131-129 in overtime on Tuesday. Philadelphia has dropped two straight games, losing to the Miami Heat 101-96 in its last outing. I think the Sixers break out of their slump tonight against the Nets who will feel their losses after a good effort in Toronto.
12-15-21 | Lakers -1.5 v. Mavs | 107-104 | Win | 100 | 6 h 11 m | Show
This is not a Mavericks team that seems like a reliable bet right now. They struggled to shoot the ball from beyond the arc, despite being wide open because of the collapse on Doncic, and now there seems to be an unsettling atmosphere in the locker room. I expect the mavericks to get to the rim more tonight but it will be hard to ignore the wide open looks if they're there.
12-15-21 | Heat v. 76ers -6.5 | 101-96 | Loss | -110 | 5 h 29 m | Show
On May 13, 2021, the last time these teams faced off during the regular season, the Heat won 106-94. In other news, a major story across the league right now concerns the number of players testing positive for COVID-19. The Heat are no exception. Forward Caleb Martin is the only player in the NBA’s healthy and safety protocols, but the roster is still not healthy. Miami is missing Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, Markieff Morris and other players. Even Tyler Herro is listed as questionable.
12-14-21 | Warriors -4.5 v. Knicks | Top | 105-96 | Win | 100 | 5 h 52 m | Show |
The Golden State Warriors plane will not show up in New York until five hours before tip-off. We see the public react in the only they have for decades, by betting against the team having all the problems. That's not how we're going to attack this. The Warriors are a better team and the bench may be utilized more which is fine because guys want to get noticed when they get more minutes, and you do that by scoring. Wait because you'll likely get a better number closer to gametime
12-13-21 | Wizards v. Nuggets -3.5 | Top | 107-113 | Win | 100 | 9 h 45 m | Show |
Monday night’s game opens what will be Washington’s longest stretch of consecutive road games this season – a six-game trip comprised of matchups with Denver, Sacramento, Phoenix, Utah, Brooklyn and New York. The road has presented a challenge for the Wizards this season. They’ve gone 7-8 in their first 15 road games compared to 8-4 at Capital One Arena, but are looking at the trip as an opportunity at a time when they need a spark. Nikola Jokic, the NBA’s reigning Most Valuable Player, is coming off a dominant performance Friday night in San Antonio and is playing some of his best basketball of his career. Against the Spurs, Jokic totaled 35 points, 17 rebounds, eight assists and a pair of blocks – making if three of the last five games he’s scored at least 32 points. Jokic has recorded double-digit rebounds in each of his last nine games and a triple-double in three of his last four.
12-13-21 | Bucks -1 v. Celtics | 103-117 | Loss | -110 | 7 h 8 m | Show
As things stand, the Bucks are right where they want to be as they head into 2022, seemingly getting all the way through their early-season struggles. They're still missing Brook Lopez and Donte DiVincenzo will come back soon, but the schedule between now and New Year’s Eve is highly favorable. Milwaukee is merely 1.5 games back from Brooklyn for the number one seed in the East, and it’s entirely possible that they usurp the top spot by the time the calendars flip. All without the team’s starting center for all but opening night. Not too shabby.
12-13-21 | Heat v. Cavs -5 | 94-105 | Win | 100 | 6 h 29 m | Show
The Cleveland Cavaliers are an insane 22-5 against the number this season, and 11-3 ATS at home. They've also covered 10 straight games. I will not get in the way of that trend tonight.
12-12-21 | Wolves +1.5 v. Blazers | 116-111 | Win | 100 | 9 h 37 m | Show
This has never been a great match-up for Minnesota but this is a Blazers team who has had some time off and they are not the best team to back coming off rest. Portland is just 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games coming off rest of three or more days. This number is begging you to take the Blazers but we're not falling for that.
12-11-21 | Jazz -6.5 v. Wizards | 123-98 | Win | 100 | 6 h 7 m | Show
In the Jazz’s 118-96 road win over the Philadelphia 76ers, guard Donovan Mitchell scored a team-high 22 points in 29 minutes on the court. Center Rudy Gobert ended his performance with another career double-double, accumulating 17 points, 21 rebounds and 1.0 assist in 29 minutes played. In the second quarter, the Jazz outscored the Sixers 34 to 22. Plus, they out-rebounded them 52 to 34. On top of Utah holding Philadelphia to 20 points in the fourth quarter, they shot 43-for-91 (47.3%) from the floor and 15-for-40 (37.5%) from three-point range. They'll prove too strong for the Wizards tonight.
12-10-21 | Celtics v. Suns -4 | 90-111 | Win | 100 | 8 h 18 m | Show
Chris Paul and the Phoenix Suns will look to start a new winning streak when they host Jayson Tatum and the slumping Boston Celtics on Friday night. After falling 118-96 at Golden State on Dec. 3 to snap their franchise-record 18-game win streak, the Suns got back on track with a 108-104 win at home against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday. Paul paced Phoenix with 21 points and 10 assists and sealed the victory with a three-point play after his pull-up jumper from the free throw line with 17.1 seconds remaining. Even without Devin Booker this is a better Suns team and you're getting a favorable number.
12-10-21 | Cavs -1 v. Wolves | 123-106 | Win | 100 | 6 h 26 m | Show
As the Timberwolves look to regroup, the Cavaliers hope to start building a winning streak. Cleveland is looking for back-to-back victories after running away with a 115-92 win over the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night. Granted, the Bulls were depleted by injuries and absences, but Cleveland put forth a stellar performance by shooting 55 percent (44 of 80) from the field and 46.4 percent (13 of 28) from beyond the arc.
12-10-21 | Lakers -4.5 v. Thunder | Top | 116-95 | Win | 100 | 7 h 32 m | Show |
The Thunder are ranked dead last in points per game (with the offensive rating of 100.3 per 100 possessions) in the league. They’re also at the bottom of the league in 3-point percentage (30.9%). The Lakers have to make sure all that continues by getting stops and converting their defense to offense in Friday’s game.
12-09-21 | Lakers -3 v. Grizzlies | Top | 95-108 | Loss | -110 | 11 h 12 m | Show |
Frank Vogel and the team made a notable pre-game adjustment prior to the Celtics game, starting Anthony Davis at center. Dwight Howard left the starting lineup (after only being in it one game) while Avery Bradley re-entered the lineup after missing two games due to a thumb injury. The lineup proved to be extremely successful for the team, even if it got off to a rough start at the beginning of the game (a rough start that was mostly due to Jayson Tatum shooting lights out with 14 points in the first four minutes of the game). As is to be expected, AD starting at the five ended up improving the team’s spacing dramatically, leading to the offense getting to the rim all night. This resulted in the Lakers outscoring the Celtics 66-42 in the paint.
12-09-21 | Jazz -3 v. 76ers | Top | 118-96 | Win | 100 | 10 h 7 m | Show |
The Jazz have found some rhythm having won each of their last five games as they continue to stake their claim as a force in the West. Featuring outstanding displays by Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert, the Jazz will attempt to make up for the losses they faced earlier in the season. The win against the Timberwolves saw a balanced performance from their key players. Rudy Gobert registered a double-double and Jordan Clarkson managed 18 points off the bench. The Jazz also saw Donovan Mitchell lead the scoring effort with 36 points.
12-08-21 | Blazers v. Warriors -14 | 94-104 | Loss | -106 | 8 h 34 m | Show
The Trail Blazers have hit a bit of a rough patch, losing six of their last seven games. After a four-game home stand, Wednesday’s game represents a short trip away before yet another four-game home stand. The road has not been kind to this Trail Blazers bunch this season, with their lone win coming against the Houston Rockets. That was also the only game in which the Trail Blazers have covered the spread on the road. Their 10 road losses have come by an average of 14.3 points per game, and in three of those games they were favorites coming in.
12-08-21 | Jazz v. Wolves +6.5 | 136-104 | Loss | -101 | 6 h 46 m | Show
The Utah Jazz have been on a roll lately, with an 8-2 record over their last 10 games. Meanwhile, the Timberwolves (11-13) have had an interesting, but inconsistent 2021-22 to date. They sit just outside the playoff picture in the ninth seed, far below the third seeded Jazz (16-7). Regardless, the Pup are a talented young outfit headed by a formidable offensive duo in Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards. They’ll be sure to give the Utah Jazz everything they’ve got when the two teams square off tonight.
12-08-21 | Wizards -5 v. Pistons | 119-116 | Loss | -110 | 5 h 2 m | Show
Washington has edges on both sides of the floor in this matchup. The Wizards are firmly in the top ten in field goal shooting (46.2 percent), two-point shooting (54.0 percent), and free throw attempts (21.2 per game). Washington also is elite at scoring near the rim, averaging 49.7 points in the paint per game. Detroit is a below-average defensive team, and Washington has the talent advantage.
12-06-21 | Clippers v. Blazers +3 | 102-90 | Loss | -105 | 9 h 43 m | Show
The Portland Trail Blazers appear to be at an incredibly dangerous point in the season. After two very poor games in a row at home, it’s beginning to feel that life without Damian Lillard is going to be desperate. With Dame out for a home-heavy stretch, the team simply can’t afford to be uncompetitive until he gets back. The best thing that can be said about the Blazers’ epic 145-117 destruction at the hands of the Boston Celtics is that they don’t have to wait long to get another chance to right the ship. The Los Angeles Clippers come to town as losers of four of their last five. On Saturday they lost by a score of 104-99 to the Sacramento Kings in Sacramento. Like the Blazers, the Clippers have more questions than answers at the moment, and like Portland, they are dealing with some key absences that aren’t helping matters. This game is an opportunity for either team to regain some confidence. For the loser, it will be more questions and more doubts.
12-05-21 | Pelicans v. Rockets +3 | 108-118 | Win | 100 | 8 h 26 m | Show
As long as Zion Williamson is out of the lineup, the offense will continue to languish in the lower third of the league rankings, but defensive effort is something that the Pelicans can control, and far too often they just haven’t put that effort forward. New Orleans remains 29th in defensive rating, despite winning six of its last 12 games, precisely because it has not shown the ability to string together more than a night or two in a row of solid defense.
12-05-21 | Wizards +1 v. Raptors | 90-102 | Loss | -106 | 7 h 12 m | Show
The new Wizards seem to be the difference for them this season — Spencer Dinwiddie, Kyle Kuzma, and Montrezl Harrell provide them with the talent and depth that Washington’s been devoid of for several years. Perhaps it’s partly matchups, firefighting, and lack of production, but coach Nick Nurse’s bench rotation has been wildly inconsistent. He is clearly searching for what would work, but he’s still throwing things at the wall a quarter into the season.
12-04-21 | Spurs v. Warriors -9.5 | Top | 112-107 | Loss | -110 | 12 h 25 m | Show |
The basketball world’s 2-year reprieve from the dominance of the Golden State Warriors appears to have reached its conclusion early on in the 2021-2022 campaign. After nearly sneaking into the playoffs last season as the lower seed no one wants to play against when April rolls around, they”ve come back with a few tweaks. Last year’s success was largely built on one of the league’s best defenses (a top 5 unit) and the ridiculous offensive prowess of scoring champion Stephen Curry, who went on a tear after the All Star Break. That prowess was able to cover up a lot of Golden State’s deficiencies on the offensive end, where they finished just 20th in offensive rating. This year, the defense is just as good, while the offense is once again humming at the level fan’s became accustomed to during their 5-year dominance over the Western Conference. At 19-3, they have the make-up of a team that can make a deep run in the playoffs.
12-04-21 | Heat v. Bucks -5.5 | Top | 102-124 | Win | 100 | 12 h 59 m | Show |
In game one between these two teams on opening night, the Heat lit up Milwaukee for 137 points. This time, Erick Spoelstra’s team will be without Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo for their encounter with the Milwaukee Bucks. They are unlikely to reproduce the same scoring barrage without two of their best players for the rematch. It’ll be a tough matchup for the Miami Heat on the road against the resurgent home team.
12-03-21 | 76ers v. Hawks -2 | Top | 98-96 | Loss | -104 | 7 h 41 m | Show |
The Hawks have the second-highest offensive rating in the league (112.4) and the second-highest three-point percentage (37.4%). When the offense plays with pace, they are a free-flowing and fun team to watch.
12-02-21 | Thunder v. Grizzlies -9.5 | Top | 79-152 | Win | 100 | 5 h 21 m | Show |
The Memphis Grizzlies are entering an important stretch beginning Thursday — no, I’m not talking about more games without Ja Morant, I’m talking about December. During the 12th month of the year, the Grizzlies play 14 of their 16 games against Western Conference teams. That means this month is huge as far as positioning in the conference. In the team’s first two games without Ja, it’s been so far so good. The team is 2-0 after picking up a nice win on the road in Toronto on Tuesday night. If the Grizz are going to stay afloat while their superstar is on the shelf, then they have to beat the teams they are better than. I know that should go without saying, but we have seen the Grizzlies underachieve against teams they are more talented then.
12-02-21 | Bucks -4 v. Raptors | 93-97 | Loss | -110 | 5 h 14 m | Show
The Bucks are still riding high, having won 8 straight contests and catapulting themselves into a three-way tie for 2nd place in the Eastern Conference (alongside the Washington Wizards and Chicago Bulls). They remain 1.5 games behind the East-leading Brooklyn Nets, and Milwaukee’s upcoming schedule is a relatively light stretch. Over this 8-game win streak, the Bucks have rediscovered their old habits. Statistically, they’re performing up to the level we expected them to (6th in Offensive Rating, 2nd in Defensive Rating, 2nd in Net Rating), and it’s no surprise that the streak coincides with the return of Khris Middleton.
12-01-21 | Mavs -2.5 v. Pelicans | Top | 139-107 | Win | 100 | 9 h 53 m | Show |
The Mavericks come in after a 18-pt beatdown against Cleveland, but remember, we never get too high or low off of what we just saw; especially with current form saying that the Mavericks are playing well on the road with four ATS covers in their last five games. The Pelicans have lost 16 of 25 SU.
12-01-21 | Wolves v. Wizards -4 | 107-115 | Win | 100 | 8 h 60 m | Show
The Wizards are fresh off a 116-99 loss against one of the worst teams in the league — the San Antonio Spurs. In that Monday night game, all five starters scored in double-figures and Bradley Beal led all players with 18 points and 8 assists despite his struggle to knock down shots. The Wizards star went 8-for-21 from the field (38.1%) and 1-for-5 from beyond the arc (20%), which are well below his season averages. Don't expect Washington to be that bad again. they have never played well in an Antonio so let's put that game aside for a team that has been one of the league's pleasant surprises.
11-30-21 | Warriors +2.5 v. Suns | Top | 96-104 | Loss | -110 | 17 h 36 m | Show |
The Warriors are playing as if their five-year dynastic run never ended. They’re first in the NBA in defensive rating (points allowed per 100 possessions) and second in offensive rating. In all, they’re outscoring their opponents by nearly 14 points per game. They’re a juggernaut. All while Klay Thompson and James Wiseman sit on the bench, awaiting returns from injury.
11-28-21 | Celtics +1.5 v. Raptors | 109-97 | Win | 100 | 6 h 17 m | Show
The Raptors are coming back from a 2-4 road trip, and like in most sports, I'll look to go against a team on the first game of a homestand. The Raptors have been terrible at home with a 2-6 record so it's not like the home crowd has ever given them a boost this season.
11-27-21 | Wolves v. 76ers -5 | Top | 121-120 | Loss | -107 | 5 h 44 m | Show |
Philadelphia has defeated the Wolves in eight consecutive meetings, now narrowly leading the all-time series 31-29. There is optimism Joel Embiid can return to the team. He has missed nine games in a row after testing positive for COVID-19. He has not played since Nov. 6 in a win over the Chicago Bulls, and the Sixers have missed their star big man. The return of Embiid would do so much for Philadelphia, and it would help young guard Tyrese Maxey get the Sixers moving in the right direction again.
11-26-21 | Wolves v. Hornets -2 | 115-133 | Win | 100 | 7 h 56 m | Show
The Hornets have been electric on offense this season, averaging 112.2 points per game (ranked 3rd) on 45% shooting. Charlotte is stacked with talent, so anticipate those defensive numbers to improve as the season progresses. I anticipate this game being close so make sure to buy that extra half point to get off a 2.5.
11-23-21 | Heat -10 v. Pistons | 100-92 | Loss | -103 | 8 h 42 m | Show
The top story for the Pistons pertains to the league office suspending center Isaiah Stewart for two games over his altercation with Lakers forward LeBron James. This event occurred during the third quarter of the Lakers’ 121-116 win. Stewart received his suspension for “escalating an on-court altercation by repeatedly and aggressively pursuing Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James in an unsportsmanlike manner.” Likewise, James was also issued a one-game suspension.
11-20-21 | 76ers v. Blazers -6 | 111-118 | Win | 100 | 10 h 14 m | Show
It's payback time for the Blazers after losing at Philadelphia earlier this month. The oddsmakers number on this is begging for people to take Philly but this is why you pay for experience. It's the little things that handicappers miss, like the fact that the Blazers were able to get a rare practice in before this match-up to specifically work on the Sixers. Blazers pull away late.
11-19-21 | Thunder v. Bucks -12.5 | Top | 89-96 | Loss | -120 | 14 h 36 m | Show |
When Milwaukee has won this season they've crushed their opponents and the Thunder figure to be a team that the Bucks are going to handle. The opposite is true for the Thunder who have been good in spots but still lose by an average of 17 points. This one is an easy winner.
11-18-21 | Spurs v. Wolves -2 | Top | 90-115 | Win | 100 | 16 h 55 m | Show |
Minnesota is home to one of the highest-scoring trios in the NBA as Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards, and D’Angelo Russell have combined for precisely 64.0 points per game this season. Towns and Russell have garnered a couple of All-Star nods early into their careers. And Edwards already looks the part of a future go-to option after going first overall in the 2020 Draft and putting together a stellar rookie campaign.
11-17-21 | Bulls +2.5 v. Blazers | 107-112 | Loss | -104 | 14 h 57 m | Show
The Chicago Bulls aim to extend the winning streak to three games by beating the Portland Trail Blazers in Moda Center tonight. Billy Donovan’s guys are arguably the hottest topic in the NBA because nobody expected them to have such a strong campaign start. They are 10-4 and play pretty well, even though they lack Nikola Vucevic, the starting center. On the other side, the Trail Blazers are mediocre, close to a .500-mark, but without anything that might give them hope of improvement in the near future.
11-16-21 | 76ers v. Jazz -8.5 | Top | 85-120 | Win | 100 | 17 h 18 m | Show |
The 76ers are currently a pandemic within a pandemic it seems like. They are now sixth in the Eastern Conference with a record of eight wins and six losses with four of them coming from their last five games. The Jazz are tied for second in the league for points differential with +6.6 points. The team averages 110.2 points per game shooting 45.45 from the field and 32.1% from three. Utah blows out the Sixers tonight.
11-14-21 | Spurs v. Lakers -2.5 | 106-114 | Win | 100 | 6 h 53 m | Show
The off-season trade for Russell Westbrook, which was maligned by many and raised reasonable questions regarding fit when it happened, has at least given Los Angeles a ball handler that can run the offense while James is sidelined. How that tandem will operate when James comes back remains to be seen, but the Lakers are hoping that Westbrook and Anthony Davis can keep the ship afloat long enough for the King to return.
11-13-21 | Heat +7 v. Jazz | 111-105 | Win | 100 | 6 h 54 m | Show
This is the second time the Heat and Jazz have met this season, with the Heat winning 118-115 in the first matchup on Nov. 6 at the FTX Arena. Tyler Herro scored 29 points for Miami, while Donovan Mitchell led the Jazz with 37 points. So far the Heat are winless during their six-game West Coast trip, one that concludes Monday against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Fortunately, the Heat have upgraded Jimmy Butler’s status to questionable for today’s game. The Jazz suffered their first home loss of the season against the Indiana Pacers in their last game, with Rudy Gobert, Joe Ingles, and Donovan Mitchell all ejected after a scuffle between Gobert and Pacers center Myles Turner with four minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Gobert and Ingles were fined but not suspended and will be available for today’s game.
11-12-21 | Wolves v. Lakers -3 | 107-83 | Loss | -110 | 18 h 4 m | Show
The young Wolves come in as losers of their last seven games with only the Thunder, Magic, Rockets, Pistons, and Pelicans ranking below them in net rating up to this point. Despite their injury-related limitations, though, it would really behoove the Lakers to win on Friday given the upcoming schedule. The Timberwolves have been very, very, VERY bad as of late. Sure, nothing is guaranteed with this rollercoaster of a Lakers team. But hopefully they really turned the page after their loss against the Trail Blazers, and can continue down a path of taking care of business until the reinforcements arrive.
11-11-21 | Heat v. Clippers -2.5 | Top | 109-112 | Win | 100 | 17 h 16 m | Show |
Ty Lue’s Clippers will look to break down Miami’s defense in ways they’ve broken down other teams. Luke Kennard and Nicolas Batum will aim to light it up from beyond the arc; they have helped the Clippers sit at fourth in the league for three-pointers made per game. When their threes start falling and space starts to open up, the Clippers will have more than enough weapons to play havoc with the Heat. Batum and Terance Mann have been reliable secondary offensive threats when they find space near the rim and finish with exhilarating dunks or, in the case of Mann, revitalizing and-ones. Let’s not forget George, who has been doing it all for the Clippers regardless of the number of defenders on him.
11-05-21 | Spurs -3.5 v. Magic | Top | 102-89 | Win | 100 | 15 h 26 m | Show |
San Antonio will be looking to stop another losing streak when it travels to Orlando on Friday night. The Spurs are on their second losing skid of the young season, having lost six of their first eight games. Orlando has been even worse, dropping seven of its first nine games to open the season. San Antonio picked up a 123-97 victory when these teams met in their season opener on Oct. 20.
11-04-21 | Celtics v. Heat -7 | Top | 95-78 | Loss | -106 | 15 h 28 m | Show |
Miami will look to Tyler Herro to continue scoring off the bench. The 21-year old seems to have the hot hand after recording his third consecutive 20+ point outing in the Heat's most recent game. Doing an absolute number on the second unit of most teams. Herro is making a strong case as a candidate for the Most Improved Player award early in the season. The Miami Heat may also see some significant minutes from Dewayne Dedmon and Markieff Morris to support their superstar big man.
11-03-21 | Blazers -3.5 v. Cavs | Top | 104-107 | Loss | -110 | 13 h 35 m | Show |
The Cavaliers won’t pose the same challenges that Philadelphia and Charlotte have on this trip. They have two of the best offenses in basketball. Cleveland, on the other hand, sits at 20th in the NBA in offensive rating (104.5) and 22nd in true shooting percentage (53.6%), and they will be without Kevin Love.
10-31-21 | Jazz v. Bucks +1 | Top | 107-95 | Loss | -100 | 15 h 44 m | Show |
Giannis Antetokounmpo has continued his torrid pace after hoisting the NBA title last season. The Greek Legend is averaging 27.6 points, 11 rebounds, and an impressive 6.6 dimes so far this season. He had a phenomenal game vs. the T-Wolves with 40 points, 16 rebounds, seven assists, three blocks, and three triples two days ago. It's the fourth time Antetokounmpo has recorded at least 40 points, 15 boards, and five assists in a game, tying him with Larry Bird for the second-most such games -- Russell Westbrook has the most with five.
10-30-21 | Magic v. Pistons -5 | Top | 103-110 | Win | 100 | 14 h 28 m | Show |
The rebuilding Magic come into this matchup losing four of their first five games to start the season. They’ve been struggling immensely on the defensive end, which was expected with their young backcourt. They currently rank last in the NBA in defensive and net rating through five games. Rookie Jalen Suggs, who had eight points and five assists against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday, is shooting 29% (18 for 63) after five games. It’s going to take the rookie some time learning the ropes at the point guard position, which is always a long curve for new players. Forward Chuma Okeke (hip), G Michael Carter-Williams (ankle), and G E'Twaun Moore (knee) have yet to play in the regular season, though none of the injuries is considered long-term. Getting healthy and rebuilding their core is key for them this season and in the coming years.
10-29-21 | Clippers v. Blazers -2.5 | Top | 92-111 | Win | 100 | 18 h 21 m | Show |
At some point this season the Portland Trail Blazers will put together back-to-back strong performances and win consecutive games. No better time than the present given that the LA Clippers come to town for a Friday night game just a few days after handing the Blazers an embarrassing 116-86 loss Monday in California. Two nights later, the Blazers won 116-96 over Memphis (2-2). That’s a 50-point swing from the loss to the Clippers to the win over the Grizzlies. As for the Clippers, they followed up their performance against the Blazers by losing 92-79 at home to Cleveland (3-2). Blazers get revenge
10-28-21 | Jazz -9 v. Rockets | Top | 122-91 | Win | 100 | 16 h 59 m | Show |
The Utah Jazz has regained their dominance in the league. So far, they’ve won all three of their games by an average of 14 points. Their biggest win came in last game against the Denver Nuggets. Nikola Jokic, the reigning MVP, had an injury scare in the first half and did not play in the second. After coach Mike Malone advised his talisman to leave the court, this happened. The game featured 30 lead changes and 12 ties, but the Jazz ultimately won. Rudy Gobert is averaging 18.7 points and a ridiculous 19 rebounds per game thus far, but his block average is only 0.7 per game. Jordan Clarkson is proving his worth as the league’s best bench player, averaging 17.3 points on a 50% effective field goal percentage. Mike Conley was a big part of the Utah Jazz’s playoff push in 2021, and he’s back to full strength now. He’s averaging 14.0 points per game on 44 percent three-point shooting.
10-27-21 | Wizards v. Celtics -4.5 | Top | 116-107 | Loss | -105 | 16 h 31 m | Show |
Washington will have their work cut out for them with the Celtics, who have won their last two games. First, they’ll have to slow down Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, who combined for 71 points in their Monday night game against the Hornets. Another player to keep an eye on is Dennis Schröder. The guard seems to be finding his way on his new team and his recent performances are proof of progress being made. Last game, Schröder put up a season-high 23 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. The Celtics will certainly have the Wizards moving fast to the backcourt so lets see if their legs are ready.
10-26-21 | Nuggets v. Jazz -7 | Top | 110-122 | Win | 100 | 18 h 40 m | Show |
The Nuggets are scoring an average of 106.0 points per game which is 21st in the league, while shooting 52.1% overall and 37.7% from downtown. Jokic Is the scoring leader for Denver with an average of 29.5 points per game and the center is shooting 65.9% overall and 37.5% from behind the line. Will Barton is Denver's dish-king with a team-high 5.5 assists per game and Barton is also the second-leading scorer with an average of 16.0 points per game. Denver has been careless with the ball as the Nuggets are averaging 19.0 turnovers per game.
10-25-21 | Pelicans v. Wolves -5.5 | 107-98 | Loss | -108 | 16 h 51 m | Show
We’ve seen this dating back to the preseason where New Orleans simply can’t make the shots needed to get off to a fast start. A deficit later follows, several attempts at a comeback are presented, but it ultimately ends up being not enough. With a bench that’s struggling, the Pelicans will need to get into a good rhythm offensively early. They can’t afford to be facing another second quarter trailing, depending on a bench that has so far been nonexistent.
10-23-21 | Pistons v. Bulls -8 | Top | 82-97 | Win | 100 | 10 h 36 m | Show |
The Chicago Bulls have completely revamped their roster around shooting guard Zach LaVine. Looking at last season, he averaged 27.4 points, five rebounds, 4.9 assists, 0.5 blocks, and 0.8 steals in 35.1 minutes per game. He shot the ball well and should get better looks now as he shot 50.7 percent from the floor, 41.9 percent from three-point range, and 84.9 percent from the charity stripe. In his last game against the Detroit Pistons, he played 35 minutes and had 34 points, seven rebounds, four assists, a steal, and a block. If LaVine can figure out how to be a team player and be content with less touches, this team has the potential to be special.
10-20-21 | Celtics +2 v. Knicks | Top | 134-138 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 6 m | Show |
The Boston Celtics have a solid team behind small forward Jayson Tatum. Looking at his numbers from last season, he finished with 26.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 0.5 blocks, and 1.2 steals per game in 35.8 minutes. Tatum needs to shoot a little better as he finished shooting 45.9 percent from the field, 38.6 percent from beyond the arc, and 86.8 percent from the charity stripe. He’s going to need to step up even more as they are trying to remain competitive in the East without as much help.
10-08-21 | Lakers v. Warriors -3 | Top | 114-121 | Win | 100 | 8 h 45 m | Show |
The Warriors have had a far different preseason than the Lakers so far, as they’ve not only won both of their games, but they’ve also been playing all of their players (at least for the most part). While Frank Vogel has held LeBron James and Russell Westbrook out of both of their games, Curry has played in both contests for the Warriors. He’s averaging 13.5 points per game (in 17.4 minutes), and has gone 7-14 on 3-point attempts, because of course he has.
10-08-21 | Pelicans +8 v. Bulls | Top | 85-121 | Loss | -105 | 6 h 50 m | Show |
Despite this game not counting towards the 2021-22 regular season standings, the Pelicans versus the Bulls is going to be fun entertainment tonight. However, there’s no denying the fact that emotions have been ratcheted up across the local viewing area because of one questionably written article.
10-06-21 | Jazz v. Mavs -2.5 | Top | 101-111 | Win | 100 | 5 h 31 m | Show |
While two-time All-Star Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis provided plenty of optimism for the upcoming season in Sunday's scrimmage, expect Dallas to be cautious with their stars throughout the preseason slate. Doncic and Porzingis will play the first half vs. Utah, per the plan, and all of their minutes will be with each other.
10-06-21 | Spurs -2.5 v. Pistons | Top | 105-115 | Loss | -107 | 3 h 9 m | Show |
The Spurs will now hit the road for the first time in more than four months after blowing out the understaffed Utah Jazz in a phenomenal preseason opener on Monday. San Antonio thrived behind a new-look run-and-gun brand of basketball, befitting one of the youngest rosters in the NBA. And hopefully, their suffocating defense travels with them to Detroit as they take on a hobbled Eastern Conference bottom-dweller.
07-20-21 | Suns +5 v. Bucks | Top | 98-105 | Loss | -108 | 10 h 34 m | Show |
The Suns were a top-10 defense this season, but they allowed Milwaukee to shoot 57% and 14-of-28 from beyond the arc on their home floor. If they allow the Bucks to shoot over 50% from the floor and the three-point line again, the Suns will be heading to the golf course (and Tokyo). Expect them to be much better tonight. |
