Seahawks vs. Patriots Betting Preview

Seattle’s victory last week broke a two game winless streak after having won three straight games. It was also only the second game all year they scored over 30 points. Their offense has struggled in half of their games this season being held to 20 points or less in four games and in three of those games to 12 points or less. There is no question they owe their success this season to their defense which is ranked eighth in total defense and third in points allowed (16.8 a game). They have three wins this year by a combined total of 10 points and lost just one of the three games in which they failed to score more than 12 points.

The Patriots have a four game winning streak since quarterback Tom Brady‘s return and have won by double digits in each game. In those four games he has thrown for over 1300 yards with 12 touchdowns and no interceptions and has a quarterback rating of 133.9 which is tops in the NFL. Their defense is also playing extremely well, holding five of their last six opponents to 17 points or less.

The oddsmakers have made New England a 7.5 point favorite and set the total at 49. According to Covers.com Consensus Analysis the public is almost split down the middle with 51% behind New England at home and 53% thinking the total is too low and are backing the over.

The margin of victory has been by four points or less in six of the last seven meetings between these teams.
