11-10-23 | Capitals v. Devils -171 | Top | 4-2 | Loss | -171 | 9 h 45 m | Show |
The New Jersey Devils will battle the Washington Capitals Friday night in Newark, N.J., in a game that will have a hard time matching the action from their last encounter. Washington visited New Jersey on Oct. 25, and that night the Capitals scored the only three goals in the first period, the Devils notched all four in the second and the Capitals scored three in the third for a 6-4 win. That game is notable for being the only time this season Washington has scored more than three goals, as the Capitals rank 31st in the league with an average of two goals per game. Captain Alex Ovechkin -- in pursuit of Wayne Gretzky's goals record -- has scored twice in 11 games for new coach Spencer Carbery.
11-10-23 | Hurricanes v. Panthers +115 | Top | 2-5 | Win | 115 | 9 h 35 m | Show |
The Carolina Hurricanes are the kings of overtime -- in the regular season, at least. On Friday night, the Hurricanes are set to visit the Florida Panthers in Sunrise, Fla. Both teams have won two straight games. But Carolina is working on a much more impressive streak, winning 10 straight regular-season games over the past year that have been settled in overtime. It's tied for the second-longest streak in NHL history. On Tuesday, Carolina beat the visiting Buffalo Sabres, 3-2, on Martin Necas' overtime goal. Sebastian Aho had the primary assist, making the pass that led to Necas' deflection.
11-09-23 | Islanders +130 v. Bruins | Top | 2-5 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 32 m | Show |
The Islanders have gone just 1-1-2 since banking back-to-back wins twice within their first seven games. Tuesday's 4-2 home loss to the Minnesota Wild was their first regulation setback since Oct. 24. The lone win during the current run was Semyon Varlamov's 32-save effort in a 3-0 shutout victory in Washington last Thursday. Maine native Oliver Wahlstrom, who was a healthy scratch for two games before aligning with captain Anders Lee and Mathew Barzal against the Wild, scored his first goal, took four shots, and blocked two. Noah Dobson also scored a goal, but the Isles were shut out in the third period and now have a minus-5 goal differential (7-2) in the final frame over their last four games. On the whole, coach Lane Lambert believes his team needs to re-establish its identity.
11-08-23 | Kings v. Golden Knights -120 | Top | 4-1 | Loss | -120 | 10 h 3 m | Show |
After dominating the headlines with their season-opening 12-game point streak, the Vegas Golden Knights find themselves on the other end of streak talk when they host the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday night in Las Vegas. The defending Stanley Cup champion Golden Knights suffered their first regulation loss of the season on Sunday at Anaheim, allowing four consecutive third-period goals to the Ducks in a 4-2 loss. That snapped a streak of 20 straight games without a regulation loss (16-0-4) in the regular season for Vegas dating back to March 28 when it lost to Edmonton, 7-4. The Golden Knights also opened the season with seven straight victories before suffering an overtime loss to Montreal, the best start in NHL history for a defending Stanley Cup champion. Now the focus turns to the Kings. Los Angeles opened the season with six straight road wins, the best mark in the NHL, and has won three straight overall. The six-game road winning streak is the longest for the Kings since they won eight in a row in 2014.
11-08-23 | Senators v. Maple Leafs -165 | Top | 6-3 | Loss | -165 | 9 h 60 m | Show |
The Ottawa Senators visit the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday night looking to overcome their early struggles. The Senators were booed in Saturday's 6-4 home loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning and the fans chanted for coach D.J. Smith to be fired. The Senators have lost five of their past six games. The Maple Leafs also have had recent struggles. They ended a four-game losing streak Monday with a 6-5 home overtime win against Tampa Bay. They overcame a 4-1 deficit after one period to take a 5-4 lead, only to allow the tying goal late in the third period.
11-07-23 | Jets -135 v. Blues | Top | 5-2 | Win | 100 | 10 h 26 m | Show |
The Jets are coming off a 5-3 victory at Arizona Saturday. They rallied from 2-0 and 3-2 deficits against the Coyotes to snap their three-game winless streak. The Jets got three goals from supporting cast winger Nino Niederreiter and two from Dillon in the victory. Interim coach Scott Arniel challenged his defensemen to get more involved offensively and Dillon responded with the first two-goal game of his career.
11-06-23 | Bruins +120 v. Stars | Top | 3-2 | Win | 120 | 11 h 43 m | Show |
The Dallas Stars host the Boston Bruins in a Monday night clash of early-season NHL heavyweights who are looking to shake off tough weekend losses. Boston let an early 2-0 lead slip away for the second straight game and later surrendered three third-period goals in Saturday's 5-4 loss at Detroit, its first regulation setback of the season. Now 9-1-1, the Bruins did not have defensemen Charlie McAvoy (who is appealing a four-game suspension for an illegal check to the head), Matt Grzelcyk and Derek Forbort available to begin their two-game road trip. Instead, the back line featured 22-year-old Mason Lohrei playing only his second NHL game, as well as Parker Wotherspoon and Ian Mitchell, who have 14 and 86 games under their belts, respectively.
11-03-23 | Devils -148 v. Blues | Top | 1-4 | Loss | -148 | 10 h 12 m | Show |
After scoring just 15 goals in their first eight games, the St. Louis Blues are getting desperate to generate offense.
11-02-23 | Lightning -150 v. Blue Jackets | Top | 2-4 | Loss | -150 | 9 h 21 m | Show |
The Columbus Blue Jackets have not had the start to the new campaign they wanted, but perhaps the best strategy Thursday would be to somehow take the Tampa Bay Lightning to overtime. Winning just three of its first nine games, the Metro Division club hosts the Lightning in the first of three matchups, two of them taking place in Ohio's capital. If Thursday's contest does go to overtime, something will ultimately have to give or go to a shootout. Columbus is 0-2 in the three-on-three, five-minute extra session. It lost consecutive games in late October to Anaheim and Montreal, as the Ducks' Frank Vatrano and the Canadiens' Cole Caufield dashed any hopes of a first overtime win with game-winners. In the Ducks game that started two hours late due to a power outage in and around the Columbus arena, Blue Jackets coach Pascal Vincent said his offense's power shortage caused the match to head to overtime and Vatrano's extra-time, breakaway tally. 10-30-23 | Seattle Kraken v. Lightning -150 | Top | 4-3 | Loss | -150 | 10 h 38 m | Show |
The Seattle Kraken get set for one final contest in Florida with a clear goal of finally beating the Tampa Bay Lightning. Winless in four tries against the Atlantic Division club and owning just two wins in nine games thus far, Seattle will try to add to the win column when it plays the Lightning on Monday night. It will have to forget what happened Saturday in Sunrise -- in fact, leaving that memory in South Florida would be a good start. Tied at 2 with the Florida Panthers in the waning minutes of regulation and possibly headed for overtime, Seattle goaltender Joey Daccord committed a game-changing error by going to retrieve a puck that appeared destined to travel behind his net. Instead, the puck caromed oddly off the stanchion and into the low slot, where Florida's Nick Cousins scooped in the game-winner with 5:52 left as his club beat Seattle for the second time in five career meetings. (FLM)
10-29-23 | Flames v. Oilers -145 | Top | 2-5 | Win | 100 | 10 h 21 m | Show |
The Flames have lost four straight games with each loss coming by multiple goals. Calgary has not had a streak of at least five consecutive games with a loss by two or more goals since a seven-game streak in March 2018.
10-28-23 | Jets v. Canadiens +140 | Top | 3-4 | Win | 140 | 10 h 21 m | Show |
The Winnipeg Jets appear to have overcome their rough start. Meanwhile, the young Montreal Canadiens seem to be overachieving out of the gate. The visiting Jets will aim for a fourth consecutive victory on Saturday night against the pesky Canadiens, who have won three of their last four. Winnipeg allowed 19 goals while losing three of its first four games but has surrendered just five in winning three straight since that dismal beginning. Connor Hellebuyck stopped 35 shots while Mason Appleton and Nino Niederreiter each had a goal with an assist during the Jets' 4-1 victory at Detroit on Thursday. (FLM)
10-28-23 | Islanders -148 v. Blue Jackets | Top | 2-0 | Win | 100 | 10 h 6 m | Show |
The New York Islanders won on Thursday night despite being whistled for nine penalties. The Columbus Blue Jackets weren't as fortunate after an eight-penalty evening. A pair of teams looking to spend less time on the penalty kill will play each other for the first time this season, when the Islanders visit the Blue Jackets in a battle of Metropolitan Division rivals on Saturday night. Both teams were off Friday following their eventful games Thursday, when the host Islanders edged the Ottawa Senators 3-2 and the visiting Blue Jackets suffered a 4-3 overtime loss to the Montreal Canadiens. Noah Dobson scored the game-winner for the Islanders 6:45 into the third period which was shortly after New York -- which committed all of its penalties in the first two periods, including seven in the second -- killed off a 5-on-3 and a 5-on-4 within the first two minutes of the final stanza.
10-24-23 | Hurricanes v. Lightning +112 | Top | 0-3 | Win | 112 | 9 h 57 m | Show |
The Carolina Hurricanes and Tampa Bay Lightning will meet for the first time this season on Tuesday night at Tampa, Fla., and both are anxious to put the recent past behind them. The Lightning wasted a 3-1 third-period lead at home Saturday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs, one of their rivals in the Atlantic Division, in the second contest of Tampa Bay's five-game homestand. The game ended in a 4-3 overtime victory for the Leafs when John Tavares put away the Lightning much like he did in late April in the first round of the playoffs.
10-24-23 | Sabres +145 v. Senators | Top | 6-4 | Win | 145 | 9 h 55 m | Show |
Two teams looking to get back on track go head-to-head when the Buffalo Sabres visit the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night. The Sabres arrive in Ottawa after dropping a 3-1 decision to the Montreal Canadiens on Monday, their fourth loss in six games to start the season. Buffalo has pumped a combined 80 shots on goal in its past two games -- 37 against Montreal and 43 in a 3-1 win against the New York Islanders on Saturday. The offense, which finished third in the NHL last season with 293 goals, hasn't found its groove yet. The Sabres have scored 13 goals this season, with nine coming across three games. A slow start by last season's dominant line of Thompson, Jeff Skinner and Alex Tuch prompted coach Don Granato to switch things up late last week, putting Thompson between Dylan Cozens and Jordan Greenway while center Casey Mittelstadt slotted in with Skinner and Tuch.
10-23-23 | Canadiens +147 v. Sabres | Top | 3-1 | Win | 147 | 31 h 43 m | Show |
10-20-23 | Devils -117 v. Islanders | Top | 5-4 | Win | 100 | 10 h 50 m | Show |
The New Jersey Devils will hit the road for the first time this season when they visit the New York Islanders on Friday night. The Devils didn't take advantage of a three-game homestand to open the season. After beating the Detroit Red Wings in the season opener, they lost a shootout against the Arizona Coyotes and then dropped a 4-3 decision to the Florida Panthers on Monday. New Jersey has had plenty of time to prepare for the Islanders, and coach Lindy Ruff hopes to see some improvement.
10-19-23 | Maple Leafs -130 v. Panthers | Top | 1-3 | Loss | -130 | 15 h 36 m | Show |
Florida, which went 1-2-0 during its season-opening road trip, will be surrounded by its faithful after last season's run to the Stanley Cup Finals. Florida eliminated Toronto in five games during the second round of the playoffs in May. Panthers center Sam Reinhart, who beat Toronto in Game 3 of last year's playoff series with his overtime goal, is off to a fast start in the current campaign. In three games, Reinhart has three goals and an assist. Two of those goals were deflections in Florida's 4-3 win over the host New Jersey Devils on Monday night at Newark. N.J. Auston Matthews, William Nylander and John Tavares lead Toronto with six points each. Matthews tops the team in goals (six) and Tavares has the most assists (five). Only eight Leafs players - including Matthews, Nylander and Tavares - were with the team during the 2022 playoffs. The rest of the cast has changed, and the Leafs are now a harder-edged team with the addition of veteran players such as the 36-year-old Ryan Reaves, John Klingberg, 31, Tyler Bertuzzi, 28, and Max Domi, 28. Still, the Leafs were outplayed on Monday night in a 4-1 home loss to the Chicago Blackhawks.
10-18-23 | Penguins v. Red Wings +114 | Top | 3-6 | Win | 114 | 7 h 27 m | Show |
Pittsburgh and Detroit both have won their last two games after a season-opening loss. They'll match up on the Red Wings' home ice on Wednesday night. The Penguins were defeated by Chicago 4-2, then won both ends of a back-to-back over the weekend. They shut out Washington 4-0 on the road, then returned home for a 5-2 victory over Calgary. Evgeni Malkin has gotten off to a strong start. The 37-year-old forward has six points, including a goal and an assist against the Flames. Malkin drew extra motivation in the offseason after missing the playoffs last season, the first time in his career the Penguins didn't participate in the postseason.
10-16-23 | Panthers +166 v. Devils | Top | 4-3 | Win | 166 | 15 h 38 m | Show |
The Florida Panthers, who last season reached the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 1996, are set to visit the New Jersey Devils on Monday night in Newark. New Jersey is coming off a surprising season in which the Devils set franchise records for wins (52) and points (112). Florida is off to a slow start, losing its first two games. The trek to New Jersey will culminate a three-game road trip, and the Panthers will finally get their home opener on Thursday against Toronto. The Panthers' most recent game was a 6-4 loss at Winnipeg on Saturday. One reason why is that they are missing their two top defensemen -- Aaron Ekblad and Brandon Montour. Both are on injured reserve. Ekblad had 14 goals last season, which marked the eighth time in nine years that he has reached double figures in that statistic. Montour last season set career highs with 16 goals and 57 assists, and his 73 points topped Florida defensemen. Without those two, the Panthers still have a standout defenseman in speedy Gustav Forsling, who last season set career highs in goals (13) and assists (28), playing all 82 games.
10-15-23 | Lightning v. Senators -111 | Top | 2-5 | Win | 100 | 20 h 36 m | Show |
10-14-23 | Predators v. Bruins -171 | Top | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 11 h 27 m | Show |
The opening to the Boston Bruins' centennial season was no on-ice masterpiece. After David Pastrnak's two goals helped the Bruins grind out a 3-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks, Boston will try to keep improving its game on Saturday as it welcomes in the Nashville Predators to complete a season-opening, two-game homestand. As for the opener, there was some good, and some bad. All to be expected. I expect Boston the be much better than they were in game one.
10-14-23 | Blackhawks +130 v. Canadiens | Top | 2-3 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 12 m | Show |
Connor Bedard will make his first trip north of the United States border when the Chicago Blackhawks visit the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night. Bedard, the highly touted No. 1 overall pick by Chicago in the 2023 NHL Draft, notched his first NHL goal in a 3-1 loss at the Boston Bruins on Wednesday, a day after producing his first assist in a 4-2 victory at the Pittsburgh Penguins.
10-12-23 | Seattle Kraken v. Predators -108 | Top | 0-3 | Win | 100 | 4 h 3 m | Show |
Opening night did not go the way either the Seattle Kraken or Nashville Predators had hoped. Each will get the chance to make up for that Thursday night when the teams meet in Nashville. The Predators opened the season Tuesday with a 5-3 loss at Tampa Bay despite a goal and an assist from newcomer Ryan O'Reilly. A few hours later, the Kraken lost 4-1 on the road against the defending Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights. At least the Kraken got to view a championship banner-raising ceremony. Predators bounce back at home
10-11-23 | Avalanche -110 v. Kings | Top | 5-2 | Win | 100 | 19 h 12 m | Show |
Colorado won't have Landeskog, the team's captain, again this year as he recovers from major knee surgery, but the team tried to address its depth-scoring issues with offseason moves. The Avalanche added veteran Ryan Johansen in a trade with Nashville and signed free agent Jonathan Drouin to shore up their top-six forward liabilities. J.T. Compher, who moved up to center the second line last season, signed with Detroit. Colorado won it all two years ago because of depth and top-level talent, and the latter is still there. Nathan MacKinnon is one of the best centers in the league and shifts his game into another gear in the playoffs, and Cale Makar is considered by many to be the best defenseman in the NHL. The Avalanche have had significant departures, most notably defenseman Erik Johnson, but the blue-line corps remains strong. The third and fourth lines are important for depth scoring, so Colorado hopes that Andrew Cogliano has recovered from two neck fractures suffered in the first-round loss to Seattle.
10-10-23 | Seattle Kraken v. Golden Knights -165 | Top | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 34 h 36 m | Show |
The Golden Knights traded veteran forward Reilly Smith to Pittsburgh for a third-round draft pick but the rest of the top three lines, led by Conn Smythe Trophy winner Jonathan Marchessault and leading playoff scorer Jack Eichel, as well as the top three defensive pairs and goaltender Adin Hill, all return.
10-07-23 | Blue Jackets +121 v. Capitals | Top | 4-2 | Win | 121 | 3 h 41 m | Show |
10-05-23 | Islanders v. Flyers -140 | Top | 2-5 | Win | 100 | 7 h 25 m | Show |
10-04-23 | Sabres v. Blue Jackets -135 | Top | 3-5 | Win | 100 | 5 h 30 m | Show |
09-24-23 | Jets v. Oilers -140 | Top | 2-1 | Loss | -140 | 4 h 42 m | Show |
03-29-23 | Islanders v. Capitals +104 | Top | 2-1 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 37 m | Show |
The New York Islanders will attempt to bolster their bid for a playoff spot and deliver a blow to the flickering hopes of the Washington Capitals on Wednesday when the teams meet in the nation's capital. The Islanders (38-28-9, 85 points) enter the opener of their three-game road trip having won seven of their last 11 games (7-3-1). While they hold the top wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference, the Capitals (34-32-8, 76 points), in turn, have lost four of their last five games (1-3-1) to find themselves in danger of missing the playoffs for the first time since 2013-14. Kyle Palmieri collected two goals and an assist to help New York snap a two-game winless skid with 5-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils on Monday.
03-25-23 | Red Wings +125 v. Flyers | Top | 0-3 | Loss | -100 | 1 h 27 m | Show |
Despite an array of injuries, the young Philadelphia Flyers are growing up. The Flyers improved to 3-0-1 in their last four games following a stirring 5-4 shootout victory over the Minnesota Wild on Thursday. Philadelphia (27-32-12, 66 points) will look to keep its positive momentum moving forward when it hosts the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday afternoon. "Pucks are going in for us," said Flyers coach John Tortorella, who picked up his 700th career victory after outlasting the Wild. "We're scoring some goals obviously. When we were losing some games, we weren't playing that bad, we just couldn't find the net. ... Now pucks have been going for us." The Flyers have been without key injured players such as Cam Atkinson, Sean Couturier, Ryan Ellis and Travis Konecny, among others.
03-22-23 | Penguins +140 v. Avalanche | Top | 5-2 | Win | 140 | 11 h 45 m | Show |
The Colorado Avalanche are trying to become the third team in eight years to pull off back-to-back Stanley Cup titles. The Pittsburgh Penguins did just that in 2016-17 and Colorado is on a mission to do the same, having won six straight and looking as determined as it did last season, when it won its first Cup since 2001. The Avalanche (41-22-6, 88 points) will go for their seventh straight win when they host the reeling Penguins on Wednesday night in Denver. Pittsburgh won the first game, 2-1 in overtime, at home on Feb. 7. In that game, Colorado defenseman Cale Makar suffered a concussion after taking a shot to the head from Penguins forward Jeff Carter. Pittsburgh (34-26-10, 78 points) has lost four in a row and dropped out of the second wild card in the Eastern Conference. The Penguins have reached the playoffs 16 straight seasons, winning three championships in that span, but are in danger of not extending the streak to 17 straight.
03-20-23 | Flames v. Kings -105 | Top | 2-8 | Win | 100 | 20 h 46 m | Show |
The Calgary Flames are running out of real estate in their bid to return to the Stanley Cup playoffs. Working overtime hasn't been the answer either. The Flames are scheduled to play the first of back-to-back games in California when they face the Los Angeles Kings on Monday night. Calgary (31-24-15, 77 points) entered Sunday four points behind the Winnipeg Jets for the final wild-card spot from the Western Conference with 12 games remaining, and they're a mere point in front of the Nashville Predators. "We have to get every point we can," Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson said. "We have a big trip coming up where we need to get four points." The Flames are coming off a 6-5 overtime loss to the visiting Dallas Stars on Saturday, dropping Calgary's record to 6-15 in overtime and shootouts this season.
03-15-23 | Islanders -180 v. Ducks | Top | 6-3 | Win | 100 | 10 h 23 m | Show |
The disappointment surrounding the New York Islanders was palpable after a defeat on Tuesday, but the suddenly struggling club must quickly put that frustration in the past before facing the host Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday night. New York, which currently holds the Eastern Conference's second wild-card spot, lost 5-2 to the Los Angeles Kings to start a three-game California trip. Making the setback worse for the Islanders was that they held a 1-0 lead after the first period and were in a tie game when a couple of penalties proved costly. Matt Martin was assessed an unsportsmanlike penalty for throwing the helmet of Kings forward Rasmus Kupari after they took coincidental roughing minors. Then, 30 seconds later, Zach Parise was whistled for kneeing. The Kings broke open the game with two power-play goals one minute apart before they extended the lead to 4-1 and cruised to victory.
02-17-23 | Rangers v. Oilers -120 | Top | 5-4 | Loss | -120 | 11 h 54 m | Show |
Two of the hottest teams and hottest offenses in hockey match up Friday when the New York Rangers visit the Edmonton Oilers. The Rangers are on a six-game winning streak and an eight-game points streak (7-0-1), outscoring their opponents by a 39-22 margin over those eight games. New York has scored six goals in each of its last three games, marking the team's longest six-goal streak since the 1988-89 season. Edmonton saw an 11-game points streak (9-0-2) end with a 6-2 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Sunday, but the Oilers picked up another point in Wednesday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Detroit Red Wings. It was a hard-earned point for the Oilers, who had to overcome three two-goal deficits to force overtime despite outshooting Detroit by a 45-23 margin.
02-11-23 | Penguins +102 v. Kings | Top | 0-6 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 56 m | Show |
After recording a pair of victories as they returned from the All-Star break, the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins now face the well-rested Los Angeles Kings in a matchup on Saturday. The freshness scales are tilted even further considering the Penguins played Friday, earning a 6-3 road victory over the Anaheim Ducks. The Kings have been off since Jan. 31, plotting their course for the final two months in an attempt to earn a playoff berth. Both teams own the top wild-card spot in their respective conferences. The Penguins followed a 2-1 overtime victory at home over the defending Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday by thrashing the Ducks.
11-26-22 | Stars v. Avalanche -155 | Top | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 10 h 35 m | Show |
A break early Friday morning gave the Colorado Avalanche, well, a break. The Avalanche were prepared to play the Predators in Nashville on Friday afternoon before a water main break at Bridgestone Arena forced the game to be postponed to a later date. The NHL also postponed the Predators' game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday. So instead of hosting the Dallas Stars in Denver on Saturday in the second game of a back-to-back set, the Avalanche flew home and had a day off while Dallas rallied to force overtime before dropping a 5-4 decision to the Winnipeg Jets on Friday night. The Stars are on a seven-game point streak (4-0-3) despite the loss. The unexpected day off gave Colorado a chance to heal a little. Mikko Rantanen took a stick to the face during a 4-3 loss to Vancouver on Wednesday night, and Evan Rodrigues left the game with a lower-body injury and didn't play after the first intermission. Coach Jared Bednar said Thursday that Rodrigues was day-to-day but there were indications he might not miss much time. The team assigned Anton Blidh and Sampo Ranta to the Colorado Eagles of the American Hockey League. The downside of getting an extra day off is the Avalanche had more time to think about squandering a game to Vancouver. Colorado gave up two goals in the third period to lose in regulation and end a brief three-game winning streak.
11-23-22 | Oilers v. Islanders -115 | Top | 0-3 | Win | 100 | 4 h 16 m | Show |
The New York Islanders overcame some imperfections to earn a much-needed road win Monday night. The Edmonton Oilers couldn't do the same -- but they had a reasonable excuse as the latest team to fall victim to the red-hot New Jersey Devils. The Islanders and Oilers will both be looking to play more complete games Wednesday night, when New York hosts Edmonton in a Thanksgiving Eve clash in Elmont, N.Y. Both teams were off Tuesday following their games a night earlier. The Islanders overcame a late deficit in the third period to edge the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-2 in overtime. The Oilers fell to the surging Devils, 5-2. The Islanders' win ended a two-game losing streak and salvaged a split of a four-game road trip, even as New York gave up the first seven shots of Monday's game and were outshot 32-24. According to Natural Stat Trick, the Maple Leafs had 12 high-danger chances compared to five for New York.
11-23-22 | Jets v. Wild -150 | Top | 1-6 | Win | 100 | 4 h 59 m | Show |
The Wild are coming off an overtime victory against the Hurricanes, a 2-1 result on Saturday that snapped a three-game (0-2-1) winless drought. Minnesota was the team with the late comeback on that night, trailing until Sam Steel tied the score 17:23 into the third period. Steel also earned an assist for helping to set up Alex Goligoski's overtime winner. Wild coach Dean Evason said he hopes the game will be a turning point and a reminder of how successful his team can be when it is at top form. "That's who we are. That team looked like us, right?" Evason asked rhetorically. "(Carolina) pushed us to play like us. ... It's a really good template for us to remember, to reinforce." Minnesota is 0-for-14 on the power play over its past five games. Solving the power-play woes could be difficult against the Jets, whose 85.7 percent (36-for-42) penalty-kill percentage is among the best in the league. The Wild's Kirill Kaprizov has seven points (two goals, five assists) during his six-game points streak. Kaprizov is two games away from matching his career-best, as he collected a pair of eight-game points streaks last season. Filip Gustavsson likely will receive another start on Wednesday, since Marc-Andre Fleury (upper-body injury) is still on the Wild's injured reserve. Gustavsson looked good against the Hurricanes, stopping 20 of 21 shots.
11-23-22 | Bruins v. Panthers +105 | Top | 2-5 | Win | 105 | 4 h 54 m | Show |
The Panthers are still adjusting after making a couple of big offseason decisions, trading away homegrown star Jonathan Huberdeau and bringing in Paul Maurice as a coach. The Panthers also traded valuable defenseman MacKenzie Weegar in that same deal, which brought back power forward Matthew Tkachuk from the Calgary Flames. So far, it hasn't clicked. The Panthers will enter Wednesday on a three-game losing streak (0-2-1), allowing 15 regulation goals during that span. Tkachuk has done his part, leading Florida in assists (17) and points (25). Carter Verhaeghe, who scored a career-high 24 goals last season, leads the Panthers with 11 tallies, putting him on pace for a career year. But some of Florida's other big guns have been somewhat subdued so far, including Aleksander Barkov (four goals), Sam Reinhart (five), and Sam Bennett (five). Last season, Barkov scored 39 goals, Reinhart had 33 and Bennett netted 28 -- all career highs. It's been frustrating for the Panthers, who earlier this season had to endure 11 games without their top defenseman, Aaron Ekblad while starting goalie Sergei Bobrovsky has struggled (4-5-1, 3.62 GAA). The Panthers are coming off a 5-3 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday. In that game, Florida had 50 shots on goal and still lost despite Columbus putting only 23 on net. "We've got to get some people in front of the net to score some hard, ugly goals," Maurice said. "We're having a hard time completing plays around the net."
11-19-22 | Islanders v. Stars -139 | Top | 2-5 | Win | 100 | 8 h 20 m | Show |
Following a successful road stretch, the high-scoring Dallas Stars try to hand the visiting New York Islanders a second straight defeat on Saturday night. Given the Stars' potent offense, the Islanders can't afford another rough opening period. Sitting atop the Central Division with 22 points, Dallas ranks among the NHL leaders with 66 goals. The Stars have totaled 38 of those goals while going 5-2-1 in November and scored at least four in each of the last four games. Roope Hintz scored twice while Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin each had a goal with an assist during Thursday's 6-4 win at Florida to cap a 2-0-1 road trip.
11-17-22 | Canadiens v. Blue Jackets -108 | Top | 4-6 | Win | 100 | 4 h 49 m | Show |
The improving Columbus Blue Jackets look to continue their climb out of the Metropolitan Division cellar Thursday when they host the Montreal Canadiens. After a five-game losing streak, the Blue Jackets have earned points in their last three games, including a pair of home-ice wins over Philadelphia. Thursday's game is the second of a six-game homestand for Columbus. On Tuesday, Vladislav Gavrikov scored at 3:14 of overtime to give the Blue Jackets their second overtime win, with Gavrikov accounting for both game-winners. Boone Jenner scored twice, and Eric Robinson had a goal and an assist for the Blue Jackets, who did get a dose of bad news in the win. Elvis Merzlikins allowed two goals on 17 shots before leaving the game in the second period with an undisclosed injury. Merzlikins was replaced by Joonas Korpisalo, who made 18 saves. Columbus lost a pair of two-goal leads against Philadelphia before prevailing in overtime.
11-15-22 | Canucks +110 v. Sabres | Top | 5-4 | Win | 110 | 4 h 59 m | Show |
Both mired in losing streaks, the Vancouver Canucks visit the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday in a battle of teams desperate for a breakout performance. The Canucks have lost their last three games while the Sabres have suffered five consecutive losses. Each team lost to the league-leading Boston Bruins over the weekend -- Buffalo had a 3-1 setback on home ice Saturday, and Vancouver a 5-2 defeat in Boston on Sunday. The Sabres held a 1-0 lead until 18:51 of the second period before the Bruins scored three unanswered goals. Tage Thompson scored a tremendous short-handed marker for Buffalo's only score of the game.
11-13-22 | Jets +121 v. Seattle Kraken | Top | 3-2 | Win | 121 | 11 h 46 m | Show |
It's often said that even an average NHL goaltender can make a save when he sees the puck. But what about when a goalie happens to be a former Vezina Trophy winner, a three-time Stanley Cup champion and a likely first-ballot Hall of Famer? Well, good luck to the opposition. The Seattle Kraken learned that Friday night in a 1-0 defeat to Marc-Andre Fleury and the Minnesota Wild in which the Kraken's five-game winning streak was snapped. The Kraken will look to return to their winning ways when they host the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday night. Seattle also will try to get more traffic in front of the Jets' net after failing to do so Friday against the Wild.
11-10-22 | Oilers +138 v. Hurricanes | Top | 2-7 | Loss | -100 | 14 h 13 m | Show |
The Carolina Hurricanes' recent problems suddenly look trivial compared to those of the Edmonton Oilers. The Hurricanes enter their Thursday home game against the Oilers coming off a shutout loss at the hands of the Florida Panthers on Wednesday and having scored only one goal over the past two games. In their last game, the Oilers saw a teammate sustain an injury that set off alarms around the team and the NHL in general. Now, Edmonton will try to demonstrate a strong mental approach amid a four-game, East Coast trip. Oilers left winger Evander Kane skated off the ice with a wrist injury that required emergency medical attention because of a cut that resulted in considerable loss of blood Tuesday night at Tampa Bay. The injury to Kane, which occurred while he was down and Lightning forward Pat Maroon skated over his wrist, was scary in nature and will result in him missing at least three months of action.
11-10-22 | Flyers +115 v. Blue Jackets | Top | 2-5 | Loss | -100 | 14 h 9 m | Show |
Two teams that have gotten off to surprising starts this season meet Thursday when the Columbus Blue Jackets host the Philadelphia Flyers. The Blue Jackets have lost nine of their first 12 games after signing star free-agent forward Johnny Gaudreau in the offseason. The move caught the hockey world by surprise and raised expectations. Columbus has struggled out of the gate under second-year head coach Brad Larsen, losing five straight games -- including both contests to the Colorado Avalanche in the NHL Global Series last weekend in Finland. The Blue Jackets were outscored 11-4 in the two losses, including last Saturday's 5-1 setback in which the Avalanche scored three goals in under four minutes of the second period. Columbus was outshot 17-4 in the second period.
11-09-22 | Hurricanes +100 v. Panthers | Top | 0-3 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 13 m | Show |
Matthew Tkachuk, who leads the Florida Panthers in assists (12) and points (17), will serve the second and final game of his NHL suspension on Wednesday night when his squad hosts the Carolina Hurricanes in Sunrise, Fla. While it's never ideal to lose a leading scorer, the Panthers might have found a silver lining. After Tkachuk was penalized and later suspended for a dangerous hick-stick of Los Angeles Kings goalie Jonathan Quick on Saturday, Panthers coach Paul Maurice went to work on reshaping his lines. On Sunday, Maurice put Sam Reinhart and Anton Lundell together on the second line, and it clicked in a 5-3 win over the host Anaheim Ducks. Reinhart, who had been slumping, had two goals, and Lundell had a pair of assists as the Panthers closed their four-game trip with a 2-2-0 record.
11-08-22 | Stars -115 v. Jets | Top | 1-5 | Loss | -115 | 8 h 38 m | Show |
The Dallas Stars and Winnipeg Jets are showing they can hang in there with the top teams in the NHL. Looking for a season-high fourth consecutive victory, the visiting Stars will try to keep the Jets from running their point streak to seven games on Tuesday night. Dallas currently sits atop the Central Division with 17 points, and Winnipeg is two behind. Each club is amid a 6-3-1 stretch and playing with plenty of confidence. Aiming for a third straight road victory, the Stars have outscored their opponents 18-6 in November and gone 6-for-11 on the power play while winning all three games. Jamie Benn recorded a hat trick and Jason Robertson posted a goal with two assists as Dallas won 6-2 at Edmonton on Saturday. "Things are going good, and we want to continue that," said the 33-year-old Benn, who has four goals and four assists in the last three games. Robertson has scored six times during a career-high five-game goal streak, during which he's also recorded 11 of his team-leading 18 points.
11-07-22 | Oilers -155 v. Capitals | Top | 4-5 | Loss | -155 | 7 h 8 m | Show |
The Edmonton Oilers and Washington Capitals will be looking to return to their winning ways when they meet on Monday night in Washington, D.C. The Capitals have lost their past four games and surrendered a lead in each contest. Washington gave up three goals in the third period to the visiting Arizona Coyotes on Saturday night and lost 3-2. Washington hasn't scored more than three goals in a game in its last six. "It has kind of been the same story for the last four games," Washington coach Peter Laviolette said. "We have not been scoring a lot of goals, so if you are not scoring a lot of goals, you have got to pay attention to defense." The Oilers will be trying to avoid their first three-game losing streak of the season following five straight wins. Edmonton is coming off a 6-2 loss to the visiting Dallas Stars on Saturday night to cap a three-game homestand.
11-06-22 | Maple Leafs v. Hurricanes -154 | Top | 3-1 | Loss | -154 | 6 h 55 m | Show |
Having the best players playing the best is what Carolina Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour looks for from this team. He has seen that development often this season, and that has equated to quite a bit of success. "Our top guys have been playing really well," Brind'Amour said. The Hurricanes will take a four-game winning streak into Sunday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs in Raleigh, N.C. The Maple Leafs have a three-game points streak, including back-to-back victories. The most recent of those came with a 2-1 decision against visiting Boston on Saturday night, with Auston Matthews scoring both Toronto goals. Maple Leafs defenseman Timothy Liljegren made his season debut in that game after being out because of a hernia. "It gives us another really good option both 5-on-5 and on the penalty kill," coach Sheldon Keefe said. "He has the ability to play against really good people." The Leafs ended the Bruins' seven-game winning streak, and they'd like to douse another streak on Sunday.
10-31-22 | Kings +115 v. Blues | Top | 5-1 | Win | 115 | 6 h 45 m | Show |
The St. Louis Blues will try to snap one of their worst slumps in recent years when they host the Los Angeles Kings on Monday. The Blues have been dealt four consecutive regulation losses for the first time since Craig Berube took over as head coach during the 2018-19 season. Opponents have outscored the Blues 20-7 during the current downturn. Meanwhile, the Kings earned an impressive 4-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs at home Saturday in advance of their trip to St. Louis. The Kings have won two of their past three games after a 3-4 start. It leaves the Blues feeling the urgency to clean up their game. "It's unacceptable to play like this," Blues winger Vladimir Tarasenko said, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "We have some time before the next game to figure it out.
10-27-22 | Capitals v. Stars -118 | Top | 0-2 | Win | 100 | 6 h 5 m | Show |
The slumping Nashville Predators will seek their first victory on North American soil this season when they host the St. Louis Blues on Thursday. The Predators are 0-4-1 since Oct. 7-8, when they won back-to-back games against the San Jose Sharks in Prague as part of the NHL's Global Series. They scored just nine goals over the losing streak. "Our focus is continuing to get better," Nashville coach John Hynes said. "As I said, you have to take the situations for what they are. We haven't won here in five games. I think there are different reasons for that." The Predators haven't played since last Saturday, when they lost to the Philadelphia Flyers, 3-1. They have used the scheduling break to regroup ahead of their game against the Blues at Bridgestone Arena.
10-25-22 | Lightning -134 v. Kings | Top | 2-4 | Loss | -134 | 8 h 53 m | Show |
One of the early challenges for many NHL teams is adjusting to the busy first month of the season while trying to rack up as many points as possible. The Tampa Bay Lightning and Los Angeles Kings have already experienced challenges with their schedules heading into their Tuesday night matchup in Los Angeles. The Lightning will have played on back-to-back days three times in their first eight games when they face the Kings and then turn around and visit the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday. The Kings are coming off five games in eight days on an East Coast trip that started with surprising success before running on fumes toward the end. The Lightning hasn't let their hectic schedule affect them so far. They are coming off a nice weekend, beating the Florida Panthers, 3-2, in overtime on Friday in Sunrise, Fla., and a day later downing the visiting New York Islanders, 5-3. They split their other back-to-back set, beating the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-2 on Oct. 14, and losing to the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-2 the following day, both on the road. Tampa Bay wasn't as sharp on Saturday against New York as it was the night before against the Panthers, but Brayden Point, Brandon Hagel, and Nick Paul each contributed a goal and an assist, as goalie Brian Elliott stopped 32 of 35 shots in his second start of the season.
10-12-22 | Seattle Kraken v. Ducks -117 | Top | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 65 h 10 m | Show |
The Ducks were 15-7 when listed as a money-line favorite last season.Anaheim went 12-3 when it played as a money line favorite with odds of -127 or shorter.
05-26-22 | Rangers +140 v. Hurricanes | Top | 1-3 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 41 m | Show |
The Rangers looked like they would break the postseason home winning streak of the Carolina Hurricanes in game one, and I think the confidence they're playing with right now against a team they've handled over the years, will cash a nice plus money ticket.
05-23-22 | Panthers +112 v. Lightning | Top | 0-2 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 50 m | Show |
The Tampa Bay Lightning have been as impressive as you would expect from a 2-time Cup winner, but of we're going to get a top effort from Florida, you would expect it to be tonight or another President's trophy winner will be out the door.
05-12-22 | Maple Leafs +120 v. Lightning | Top | 3-4 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 31 m | Show |
The Leafs are playing some of their best hockey of the year, winning 12 of their last 16 when on one days rest, and 55-25 overall. Tampa are just 5-12 against teams ver .600.
05-08-22 | Oilers v. Kings +140 | Top | 0-4 | Win | 140 | 12 h 3 m | Show |
Although the Oilers showed the Kings who was the boss of this series with dominant win in games 2 and 3, the Kings have been resilient all season long and we've watched the Oilers long enough to know that this is a spot where they might take their foot off the pedal some. You figure that we'll get the Kings best or this series is over.
05-06-22 | Oilers v. Kings +130 | Top | 8-2 | Loss | -100 | 13 h 49 m | Show |
We think there is such a difference between these two teams, but the reality is that the Oilers with all their firepower and the Kings with all their injuries, were divided by 5 points. This series is even and I think giving the bettors plus money with the home team is a joke, one that that we'll take advantage of.
05-06-22 | Maple Leafs +107 v. Lightning | Top | 5-2 | Win | 107 | 10 h 8 m | Show |
I think the pace in this game will once again favor the over, but it's the Leafs side I want with the even money. Toronto has beaten Tampa 5 of their last 7 meetings and are 10-3 playing on one days rest. Leafs bounce back tonight.
05-05-22 | Penguins +140 v. Rangers | Top | 2-5 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 14 m | Show |
The Penguins took game simply because the Rangers didn't have an answer for the Penguins top line. Sidney Crosby was clearly the best player on the ice and Shesterkin was shaky. I know the Pens are shaky in goal now but I think I like the plus price.
05-01-22 | Seattle Kraken v. Jets -176 | Top | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 3 h 42 m | Show |
These situations always favor the home team, they want to leave the NHL season with the home crowd feeling good about 22-23. It's a little more than what I like to lay but it's the right side.
04-26-22 | Hurricanes v. Rangers -110 | Top | 4-3 | Loss | -110 | 10 h 53 m | Show |
Carolina have been horrible in new York, losing 21 of their last 27 in new York and 38 of their last 55 meetings overall. The Rangers were just beaten easily by the Boston Bruins while the Hurricanes continue to roll, but this is where you have to know when to get off what seems obvious.
04-15-22 | Islanders v. Canadiens +131 | Top | 3-0 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 12 m | Show |
Montreal has had the Islanders number of late, winning four of their last 5 games and although New York has been terrific over the last month, they have lost 13 of 18 playing the second of a back-to-back.
04-02-22 | Kings v. Jets -120 | Top | 3-2 | Loss | -120 | 8 h 12 m | Show |
The Kings are fresh off a win in Calgary, so naturally, the public thinks they have a plus money opportunity here but we're not going to be fooled by what we just saw. The Kings have not played well in Winnipeg, losing 4 of their last 5 meetings. The home team in this match-up is 21-10 in their last 31.
04-01-22 | Islanders +160 v. Rangers | Top | 3-0 | Win | 160 | 7 h 60 m | Show |
You have to give the Rangers credit, they beat the Pittsburgh Penguins twice in 5 days and sprinkled in with wins against the Sabres and RedWings who could have easily been letdown spots. The Rangers have won 8 of their last 10 but one of those losses came to their nemesis, the New York Islanders. The islanders have won 5 of their last 6 meetings with the underdog winning 16 of their last 21 meetings at MSG. The islanders are out of the playoff picture but it doesn’t mean Barry Trotz doesn’t have his boys ready for what surely will be a much better team next season. The Islanders have some lower level deals to figure out over the offseason but this is mostly the team you’ll see next year which is why they’ve won 9 of their last 13 games. Win tonight would be the ultimate message sent to the Eastern conference for 22-23.
03-29-22 | Maple Leafs +125 v. Bruins | Top | 6-4 | Win | 125 | 7 h 19 m | Show |
The Boston bruins have been terrific since the beginning of the new year, getting points in 28 of 37 games. I suspect the public will push this number up giving us a nice plus money price with team who is 39-19 in their last 58 overall. This will come down to special teams which is an area the Bruins failed in the last time these two teams met. Toronto is the TOP power play unit in the league and should get a chance to show that off against one of the league most penalized teams in Boston. After the deadline the Leafs have more depth than prior especially with the addition of Mark Giordano. I just want to see them get one more big win before I’m all in with the B’s.
03-26-22 | Ducks +132 v. Sharks | Top | 1-4 | Loss | -100 | 12 h 17 m | Show |
The road team in this series has won 5 of their last 7 meetings, while the Ducks have beaten the Sharks 5 straight times. San Jose has lost 21 of their last 29 Saturday games, meaning, when the lights are the brightest, the Sharks don't show up.
03-18-22 | Bruins v. Jets -103 | Top | 4-2 | Loss | -103 | 11 h 40 m | Show |
This is the TOP NHL selection from one of the world's leading NHL handicappers. After you win, purchase a week, month, or annual pass to carry you through the Stanley Cup Final and beyond.
03-17-22 | Penguins -115 v. Blues | Top | 3-2 | Win | 100 | 11 h 21 m | Show |
The Penguins have been terrific on the road especially as a road favorite where they are 20-7 in their last 27 and 14-5 on the road overall. The Penguins are on a roll, catching the Blues not playing their best hockey.
03-16-22 | Blue Jackets +125 v. Senators | Top | 4-1 | Win | 125 | 10 h 29 m | Show |
The Columbus Blue Jackets still think they have a chance to make the playoffs, which means, they need games like this in order to get there. The number is a little head scratching but we'll take the plus number in this one.
03-09-22 | Capitals v. Oilers -119 | Top | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 11 h 53 m | Show |
The Washington Capitals have won 3 straight games as the Caps continue their road trip. After a big win against the Flames, I don't think they'll have the same intensity level against the Oilers who are in desperate need of a win.
03-08-22 | Rangers v. Wild -142 | Top | 2-5 | Win | 100 | 12 h 31 m | Show |
This number is begging you to take the Rangers but we're not falling for that. The Wild need this game to get back on track and despite their recent slide, have had the Rangers number over the last few seasons. NY is just 4-9 in their last 13 as a road dog.
03-08-22 | Coyotes v. Red Wings -167 | Top | 9-2 | Loss | -167 | 12 h 32 m | Show |
The Coyotes are coming off two big wins against Ottawa and Colorado while the Wings have lost two straight and 4 of 5, but their last two losses came to Florida and Tampa. Historically, the Coyotes have not played well against Detroit and certainly not in Detroit where they have dropped 9 of 13. This number is begging you to take the Yotes but we're not falling for that.
03-03-22 | Penguins v. Lightning -165 | Top | 5-1 | Loss | -165 | 7 h 57 m | Show |
1- This is the time of year when the Lightning just seem to get stronger. I don’t think John Cooper gets the credit he deserves as one of the top coaches in all of hockey. A- Cooper is constantly pushing the right buttons to keep his team hungry despite winning back to back cups.
B- It all starts with Cooper’s top line that features two guys, Brayden Point and Nikita Kucherov who have combined for 41pts since January 6th and 24 over their last 10 games.
2-Talk about never give up; the Lightning have won 14 times this season after allowing the first goal with the most recent example coming Tuesday against Ottawa where they gave up the first two games before storming back to maul the Sens, 5-2
3-On home ice, the Lightning have lost just once since late October, 17-4-4 on the season. 4-They’ve won 5 straight games and 14 of 18; only 4 of those games have been one goal games; so not only are they winning they are finding that separation we talk about. - Penguins are 1-5 in their last six meetings in Tampa and 1-5 overall.
03-02-22 | Kings v. Stars -132 | Top | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 9 h 17 m | Show |
This match-up falls under the umbrella of another angle that Dana has used all season. When a home team is playing a quality opponent and the number isn't going to hurt our bankroll, we are going to be on the home team. Dallas has beaten LA in 6 of the last 8 meetings and has won 24 of their last 33 home games.
03-02-22 | Blues v. Rangers -105 | Top | 3-5 | Win | 100 | 8 h 25 m | Show |
I have looked for home teams playing quality teams, which usually douses the number some, allowing us the get a good team at home without having to risk the normal money. The public will be on the Blues so wait to get the best number.
03-01-22 | Devils v. Blue Jackets -107 | Top | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 7 h 9 m | Show |
Impressive showing by the Devils last night against Vancouver but it'll be a different story against the Jackets who can see some light at the end of the playoff tunnel now. They must win these games to Capitalize on Washington's recent slump.
02-28-22 | Canucks v. Devils -106 | Top | 2-7 | Win | 100 | 10 h 10 m | Show |
Offensively, the Devils have had a strong month of February with 32 goals scored in eight games. Bratt remains the leading scorer on the Devils with 48 points in 47 games including a career-high 18 goals. In terms of points per game, Hughes is now the team leader with 36 points in 32 games (15 goals). Over an 82 game season, Hughes would output 38 goals and 92 points.
02-27-22 | Islanders v. Ducks -115 | Top | 4-0 | Loss | -115 | 10 h 41 m | Show |
The Islanders are having a rough season with their offense struggling immensely, scoring only 2.51 goals per game. While Brock Nelson, Anders Lee, and Mathew Barzal have combined for 45 goals and 40 assists to lead the top two lines, the rest of the forward unit has struggled. Only seven forwards have scored seven goals or more and opposing defenses can eliminate the struggling offense as a result.
02-25-22 | Devils v. Blackhawks -126 | Top | 5-8 | Win | 100 | 8 h 26 m | Show |
The money is predictably pouring in on the New Jersey Devils after their 6-1 win against the Penguins last night. I'm not taking a horrible hockey team and betting on them on the second of back to back nights, The number is as good as there is out there.
02-24-22 | Islanders -125 v. Sharks | Top | 3-4 | Loss | -125 | 10 h 4 m | Show |
The Sharks have dropped 7 straight games after their shootout loss to the Ducks, Tuesday. Anthony Stolarz was terrific in his 40 save outing and I think we’ll have an even bigger advantage in net tonight with Sorokin who I would put ahead of Sorokin and certainly is better than James Reimer. The Sharks are now 9 points out of a playoff spot and are just 1-5-4 in their last 10.
02-22-22 | Sharks v. Ducks -150 | Top | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 10 h 40 m | Show |
The San Jose Sharks are a complete mess. Their best players are on the IR, they are in salary cap hell, and are falling farther from the playoff picture with every passing day. I'm laying a little more than I would like but the Ducks are the better team.
02-20-22 | Wild -105 v. Oilers | Top | 7-3 | Win | 100 | 6 h 56 m | Show |
As predicted, there is a ton of money coming in on the Edmonton Oilers. That was easy to see because common sense tells you that the Wild are struggling some with the Oilers seem to have found their scoring touch again. Don't be fooled, the Wild are the better team the play here
02-19-22 | Oilers -114 v. Jets | Top | 4-2 | Win | 100 | 4 h 10 m | Show |
The Edmonton Oilers are starting to score goals in bunches again, while I' still not confident enough that the Jets are a consistent go to team. Noce win against the Wild but can they rip off a string of wins against the better teams.
02-16-22 | Wild -130 v. Jets | Top | 3-6 | Loss | -130 | 5 h 16 m | Show |
I can't bet the Jets after an opportunity to grab two points from a weaker team went by in a loss to the Chicago Blackhawks. The Wild are in a revenge spot and are clearly the better team.
02-15-22 | Islanders -189 v. Sabres | Top | 3-6 | Loss | -189 | 5 h 26 m | Show |
This isn't the type of number I like to get involved with many times but I think you're going to start seeing some real separation between teams from here on out. This is an easy winner and I'm taking advantage of everything the books give from here on out.
02-14-22 | Blackhawks v. Jets -155 | Top | 3-1 | Loss | -155 | 9 h 9 m | Show |
For a team that was built to compete for the Stanley Cup, the Jets have done everything but. This is their last chance to make expected noise in the West and order to do that they can't lose to teams like the Blackhawks.
02-13-22 | Avalanche -150 v. Stars | Top | 4-0 | Win | 100 | 2 h 5 m | Show |
With wins in each of their past two games, the Stars begin a home-and-home set against one of the league's juggernauts: the Colorado Avalanche. Boasting the league's best points percentage (.778), the Avs sit atop the league with 70 points and a 33-8-4 record. They became the first team to reach 70 points this season, hitting the mark faster than any club in franchise history (45 games). They have points in 18 straight games (16-0-2) and have one regulation loss in their past 25 (21-1-3).
02-10-22 | Blue Jackets -110 v. Sabres | Top | 4-3 | Win | 100 | 5 h 2 m | Show |
The Buffalo Sabres are absolutely decimated by injuries at this point. They face a Jacket team that every time we try to bury them they rear their head and beat a team like the Washington Capitals. I won't be on the Sabres very much the rest of the season.
02-08-22 | Golden Knights v. Oilers +105 | Top | 4-0 | Loss | -100 | 6 h 18 m | Show |
This is a game that the Oilers need to finally wipe the bad taste out of their mouths after a long losing streak followed by 5 wins on their last 6 games but you have to think that a win over Vegas would be the final icing. I'm interested to see if the Knights are ready to go or are still on the ASB where they played a huge role in hosting the event.
01-21-22 | Stars v. Red Wings -102 | Top | 5-4 | Loss | -102 | 5 h 53 m | Show |
Anyone think the way the Stars played defense last night is an example of what you want to put money behind? It was one of the worst defensive efforts this season. I suspect that their defensive effort will be better, but Detroit has enough depth to hurt an even average performance.
01-02-22 | Lightning +102 v. Rangers | Top | 0-4 | Loss | -100 | 5 h 47 m | Show |
For as bad as Tampa has been over their last three games, they still have a 6-1-1 record against the Rangers. I know Tampa is absolutely getting crushed by Covid but we should get their best effort in this one. I've always thought ot takes a few games for the moving pieces to fall into place. Tampa gets back on track this afternoon.
12-11-21 | Stars -110 v. Sharks | Top | 1-2 | Loss | -110 | 12 h 30 m | Show |
San Jose has totaled 11 goals over the last three games, but allowed 14 during the same span. Adin Hill has yielded 11 of those goals while starting each one of those contests. Teammate James Reimer has stopped 61 of the 63 shots he's faced in his last two games, recording one shutout, but an illness has kept him from making a start in December. The Shars are going to fade and I want to catch it before it happens, I think this may be the start tonight.
12-09-21 | Jets -105 v. Seattle Kraken | Top | 3-0 | Win | 100 | 14 h 48 m | Show |
I don’t understand the constant love in the line for the Kraken. This isn’t the craziest number this year but I still expected this number to be -120 or more even with a recent loss to Arizona where once again Vehmelka had to stand on his head to get a win. I know that the Jets haven’t played well of late but they are still a likely wild card team, whereas Seattle is certainly in the lower half of the league, I think these types of games are measuring sticks to see how far you’ve fallen. If you really look at the Jets of late, they beat Calgary and then got Vehmelka’d against the Yotes then beat Toronto and Jersey before losing to Carolina. It says 3-6-1 in their last 10 but I can argue that haven’t played a bad game in their last five, even battled back from 2-0 against the Cane’s.
12-07-21 | Hurricanes -102 v. Jets | Top | 4-2 | Win | 100 | 7 h 17 m | Show |
First game of a road trip, give that to me all day. That's when teams are at their best with an extra sprinkle of we want to get this trip off to a good start. Carolina hasn't been playing great of late, but a quality win on the road will right the ship.
11-22-21 | Penguins +109 v. Jets | Top | 3-1 | Win | 109 | 14 h 25 m | Show |
Pittsburgh is 2-0-2 in its past four games after going 1-7-1 in its previous nine. The Penguins have scored at least four goals in four of their past five games. Winnipeg is 1-2-0 in its past three games after going 4-0-1 in its previous five. The Jets have allowed at least four goals in three straight games.
11-13-21 | Wild -110 v. Seattle Kraken | Top | 4-2 | Win | 100 | 11 h 1 m | Show |
Usually, when a team is playing the last game of a road trip they're in a go against spot but not here. A win will make the difference between a losing or winning trip for the Wild, so don't expect them to be looking ahead to home against a team they're clearly better than. I scratch my head at this line, and a few other Kraken lines this season but we're going to get the best of the book tonight.
11-11-21 | Oilers +130 v. Bruins | Top | 5-3 | Win | 130 | 14 h 47 m | Show |
The Oilers are 8-3 in their last 11 meetings, including 4-1 at Boston. They are also 25-9 when playing on one days rest. Throw out what we just saw against the Red Wings. Edmonton is #1 in shot percentage and on the Power play and has a PK that goes noticed. Take the plus money here. |
