11-28-21 | Portland -7.5 v. Incarnate Word | 77-68 | Win | 100 | 2 h 21 m | Show
The Pilots have covered four straight games and four straight road games, while the Cardinal is 3-7-1 ATS overall and 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 home games.
11-27-21 | Wolves v. 76ers -5 | Top | 121-120 | Loss | -107 | 5 h 44 m | Show |
Philadelphia has defeated the Wolves in eight consecutive meetings, now narrowly leading the all-time series 31-29. There is optimism Joel Embiid can return to the team. He has missed nine games in a row after testing positive for COVID-19. He has not played since Nov. 6 in a win over the Chicago Bulls, and the Sixers have missed their star big man. The return of Embiid would do so much for Philadelphia, and it would help young guard Tyrese Maxey get the Sixers moving in the right direction again.
11-26-21 | Wolves v. Hornets -2 | 115-133 | Win | 100 | 7 h 56 m | Show
The Hornets have been electric on offense this season, averaging 112.2 points per game (ranked 3rd) on 45% shooting. Charlotte is stacked with talent, so anticipate those defensive numbers to improve as the season progresses. I anticipate this game being close so make sure to buy that extra half point to get off a 2.5.
11-24-21 | Cal Poly v. Idaho +6 | 67-63 | Win | 100 | 2 h 37 m | Show
neither team comes into this game in great form but history will tell you that Idaho is the right side when these two teams match-up nd we're getting a generous number comparing it to my power ratings.
11-23-21 | Heat -10 v. Pistons | 100-92 | Loss | -103 | 8 h 42 m | Show
The top story for the Pistons pertains to the league office suspending center Isaiah Stewart for two games over his altercation with Lakers forward LeBron James. This event occurred during the third quarter of the Lakers’ 121-116 win. Stewart received his suspension for “escalating an on-court altercation by repeatedly and aggressively pursuing Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James in an unsportsmanlike manner.” Likewise, James was also issued a one-game suspension.
11-22-21 | Valparaiso v. Jacksonville State -6.5 | Top | 78-70 | Loss | -110 | 15 h 51 m | Show |
Dating back to last season, Valpo is just 1-6 ATS against teams with a losing record and have failed to cover four straight overall. The Gamecocks have covered 6 of 7 overall and 5 of 6 against teams with a losing record.
11-20-21 | 76ers v. Blazers -6 | 111-118 | Win | 100 | 10 h 14 m | Show
It's payback time for the Blazers after losing at Philadelphia earlier this month. The oddsmakers number on this is begging for people to take Philly but this is why you pay for experience. It's the little things that handicappers miss, like the fact that the Blazers were able to get a rare practice in before this match-up to specifically work on the Sixers. Blazers pull away late.
11-20-21 | Army v. La Salle -4.5 | 58-61 | Loss | -110 | 4 h 54 m | Show
On defense, the Black Knights are able to force 13.0 turnovers per game and they draw 14.8 fouls. They are currently ranked 319th in the nation in giving up assists to their opponents with 51 relinquished this season. The Black Knights defense is giving up a field goal percentage of 38.0% (97 of 255) and they surrender 35.3 rebounds per contest as a squad. They surrender 29.0% on shots from beyond the perimeter and they are 157th in the country in PPG from their opponents (66.0).
11-19-21 | Thunder v. Bucks -12.5 | Top | 89-96 | Loss | -120 | 14 h 36 m | Show |
When Milwaukee has won this season they've crushed their opponents and the Thunder figure to be a team that the Bucks are going to handle. The opposite is true for the Thunder who have been good in spots but still lose by an average of 17 points. This one is an easy winner.
11-19-21 | Oakland v. Alabama -15 | Top | 59-86 | Win | 100 | 13 h 20 m | Show |
The Golden Grizzlies won't be able to keep up with the pace of play from the Crimson Tide. Alabama averages over 74 possessions a game ranking them 26th in the country. Those possessions have led to just under 80 points a game, this doesn't bode well for Oakland who is one of the country's worst defensive teams.
11-18-21 | Spurs v. Wolves -2 | Top | 90-115 | Win | 100 | 16 h 55 m | Show |
Minnesota is home to one of the highest-scoring trios in the NBA as Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards, and D’Angelo Russell have combined for precisely 64.0 points per game this season. Towns and Russell have garnered a couple of All-Star nods early into their careers. And Edwards already looks the part of a future go-to option after going first overall in the 2020 Draft and putting together a stellar rookie campaign.
11-18-21 | Coastal Carolina +1.5 v. NC-Wilmington | Top | 53-65 | Loss | -110 | 15 h 37 m | Show |
The Chanticleers won their first game of the season by playing tenacious defense, holding Ferrum to under 40% shooting. I know this is a step up if they can get close to their 80pts scored in game one, they will win this game easily.
11-17-21 | Bulls +2.5 v. Blazers | 107-112 | Loss | -104 | 14 h 57 m | Show
The Chicago Bulls aim to extend the winning streak to three games by beating the Portland Trail Blazers in Moda Center tonight. Billy Donovan’s guys are arguably the hottest topic in the NBA because nobody expected them to have such a strong campaign start. They are 10-4 and play pretty well, even though they lack Nikola Vucevic, the starting center. On the other side, the Trail Blazers are mediocre, close to a .500-mark, but without anything that might give them hope of improvement in the near future.
11-17-21 | Drexel +2 v. St. Joe's | 78-75 | Win | 100 | 11 h 36 m | Show
Don't underestimate Drexel who were overhelmed by Syracuse in the second half but they held their own in the first and actually led at the break. St.Joes is going to have to show me a lot more before I start thinking they're have turned a corner from last year.
11-16-21 | 76ers v. Jazz -8.5 | Top | 85-120 | Win | 100 | 17 h 18 m | Show |
The 76ers are currently a pandemic within a pandemic it seems like. They are now sixth in the Eastern Conference with a record of eight wins and six losses with four of them coming from their last five games. The Jazz are tied for second in the league for points differential with +6.6 points. The team averages 110.2 points per game shooting 45.45 from the field and 32.1% from three. Utah blows out the Sixers tonight.
11-16-21 | BYU v. Oregon -4 | Top | 81-49 | Loss | -110 | 17 h 6 m | Show |
Oregon lost their top three scorers from a year ago, but they return some nice pieces and reloaded via the transfer portal. The top returnee is Preseason First-Team All Pac-12 selection Will Richardson. The 6-foot-5 senior guard averaged 11.3 ppg and is the Ducks leading scorer through two games with 38 total points on 8-13 shooting from three. The Ducks start three high-level transfers that they brought in this offseason from P5 programs — De’Vion Harmon (who had BYU as a finalist), Jacob Young, and Quincy Guerrier. Each player averaged double digits last season. All 5 Oregon starters can shoot and they are an athletic team that can switch positions 1-5.
11-14-21 | Spurs v. Lakers -2.5 | 106-114 | Win | 100 | 6 h 53 m | Show
The off-season trade for Russell Westbrook, which was maligned by many and raised reasonable questions regarding fit when it happened, has at least given Los Angeles a ball handler that can run the offense while James is sidelined. How that tandem will operate when James comes back remains to be seen, but the Lakers are hoping that Westbrook and Anthony Davis can keep the ship afloat long enough for the King to return.
11-14-21 | South Dakota v. Drake -16.5 | Top | 50-99 | Win | 100 | 5 h 4 m | Show |
The Drake Bulldogs opened their season in impressive fashion by scoring 87 points in their win over Coe College. In the contest, the Bulldogs asserted their dominance right from the start, scoring 47 points in the opening half. Their defense allowed just 31 and 30 points between the two halves. Against Coe, Drake shot the ball extremely well, finishing with a shooting percentage of 63%. They walked away with an offensive efficiency rating 120.8. The Coyotes won their first game but it was sloppy and inefficient.
11-13-21 | Heat +7 v. Jazz | 111-105 | Win | 100 | 6 h 54 m | Show
This is the second time the Heat and Jazz have met this season, with the Heat winning 118-115 in the first matchup on Nov. 6 at the FTX Arena. Tyler Herro scored 29 points for Miami, while Donovan Mitchell led the Jazz with 37 points. So far the Heat are winless during their six-game West Coast trip, one that concludes Monday against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Fortunately, the Heat have upgraded Jimmy Butler’s status to questionable for today’s game. The Jazz suffered their first home loss of the season against the Indiana Pacers in their last game, with Rudy Gobert, Joe Ingles, and Donovan Mitchell all ejected after a scuffle between Gobert and Pacers center Myles Turner with four minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Gobert and Ingles were fined but not suspended and will be available for today’s game.
11-12-21 | Wolves v. Lakers -3 | 107-83 | Loss | -110 | 18 h 4 m | Show
The young Wolves come in as losers of their last seven games with only the Thunder, Magic, Rockets, Pistons, and Pelicans ranking below them in net rating up to this point. Despite their injury-related limitations, though, it would really behoove the Lakers to win on Friday given the upcoming schedule. The Timberwolves have been very, very, VERY bad as of late. Sure, nothing is guaranteed with this rollercoaster of a Lakers team. But hopefully they really turned the page after their loss against the Trail Blazers, and can continue down a path of taking care of business until the reinforcements arrive.
11-12-21 | Rice v. Houston -14 | Top | 46-79 | Win | 100 | 16 h 33 m | Show |
This is a spot the Cougars thrived in last season when they went 6-3 ATS when favored by 14.5 points or more. Houston is 11-5 ATS as a home favorite dating back to last season and has been terrific coming off an ATS loss.
11-11-21 | Heat v. Clippers -2.5 | Top | 109-112 | Win | 100 | 17 h 16 m | Show |
Ty Lue’s Clippers will look to break down Miami’s defense in ways they’ve broken down other teams. Luke Kennard and Nicolas Batum will aim to light it up from beyond the arc; they have helped the Clippers sit at fourth in the league for three-pointers made per game. When their threes start falling and space starts to open up, the Clippers will have more than enough weapons to play havoc with the Heat. Batum and Terance Mann have been reliable secondary offensive threats when they find space near the rim and finish with exhilarating dunks or, in the case of Mann, revitalizing and-ones. Let’s not forget George, who has been doing it all for the Clippers regardless of the number of defenders on him.
11-11-21 | Cal-Riverside +10 v. Arizona State | Top | 66-65 | Win | 100 | 15 h 1 m | Show |
This is a Sun Devil team that went 4-10 ATS last season and open up as a double-digit favorite in this one, a spot they didn't fare well in 2020-21. The Sun Devils were missing four players in their opener due to COVID contact tracing protocols and those players aren't expected to dress for Thursday's game. They include forward Jalen Graham and Boston College transfer Jay Heath. The others are true freshman Justin Rochelin and walk-on Jordan Williams. UC Riverside finished 14-8 overall and 8-4 in the Big West Conference a year ago. Its top player in the opener was 7-foot-1 junior center Callum McRae who totaled 13 points and four rebounds in the loss to the Aztecs.
11-10-21 | North Alabama v. Mississippi State -21 | Top | 49-75 | Win | 100 | 7 h 42 m | Show |
The Mississippi State men's basketball team didn't make the NCAA Tournament last season. But the Bulldogs did make the NIT and got all the way to New York before losing to Memphis in the championship. So the next step this season would be for MSU, which hosts North Alabama in its season opener Wednesday night, to get to the NCAA Tournament. I think we'll see them with an easy win over the Lions.
11-09-21 | Texas-Arlington v. Oklahoma State -19 | Top | 45-88 | Win | 100 | 16 h 58 m | Show |
The Cowboys lost Cunningham (20.1 points, 6.2 rebounds last season), but return 10 players from last year's roster, including its next eight highest scorers, led by junior guard Avery Anderson III (12.2). UT Arlington, which is coming off a 13-13 season, made a coaching change this offseason when it promoted longtime assistant Greg Young after former coach Chris Ogden was hired as an assistant coach at the University of Texas. I expect that the announcement that the Cowboys would not be eligible for the NCAA Tournament this season will light a fire under the Cowboys through the first couple of games.
11-05-21 | Spurs -3.5 v. Magic | Top | 102-89 | Win | 100 | 15 h 26 m | Show |
San Antonio will be looking to stop another losing streak when it travels to Orlando on Friday night. The Spurs are on their second losing skid of the young season, having lost six of their first eight games. Orlando has been even worse, dropping seven of its first nine games to open the season. San Antonio picked up a 123-97 victory when these teams met in their season opener on Oct. 20.
11-04-21 | Celtics v. Heat -7 | Top | 95-78 | Loss | -106 | 15 h 28 m | Show |
Miami will look to Tyler Herro to continue scoring off the bench. The 21-year old seems to have the hot hand after recording his third consecutive 20+ point outing in the Heat's most recent game. Doing an absolute number on the second unit of most teams. Herro is making a strong case as a candidate for the Most Improved Player award early in the season. The Miami Heat may also see some significant minutes from Dewayne Dedmon and Markieff Morris to support their superstar big man.
11-03-21 | Blazers -3.5 v. Cavs | Top | 104-107 | Loss | -110 | 13 h 35 m | Show |
The Cavaliers won’t pose the same challenges that Philadelphia and Charlotte have on this trip. They have two of the best offenses in basketball. Cleveland, on the other hand, sits at 20th in the NBA in offensive rating (104.5) and 22nd in true shooting percentage (53.6%), and they will be without Kevin Love.
10-31-21 | Jazz v. Bucks +1 | Top | 107-95 | Loss | -100 | 15 h 44 m | Show |
Giannis Antetokounmpo has continued his torrid pace after hoisting the NBA title last season. The Greek Legend is averaging 27.6 points, 11 rebounds, and an impressive 6.6 dimes so far this season. He had a phenomenal game vs. the T-Wolves with 40 points, 16 rebounds, seven assists, three blocks, and three triples two days ago. It's the fourth time Antetokounmpo has recorded at least 40 points, 15 boards, and five assists in a game, tying him with Larry Bird for the second-most such games -- Russell Westbrook has the most with five.
10-30-21 | Magic v. Pistons -5 | Top | 103-110 | Win | 100 | 14 h 28 m | Show |
The rebuilding Magic come into this matchup losing four of their first five games to start the season. They’ve been struggling immensely on the defensive end, which was expected with their young backcourt. They currently rank last in the NBA in defensive and net rating through five games. Rookie Jalen Suggs, who had eight points and five assists against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday, is shooting 29% (18 for 63) after five games. It’s going to take the rookie some time learning the ropes at the point guard position, which is always a long curve for new players. Forward Chuma Okeke (hip), G Michael Carter-Williams (ankle), and G E'Twaun Moore (knee) have yet to play in the regular season, though none of the injuries is considered long-term. Getting healthy and rebuilding their core is key for them this season and in the coming years.
10-29-21 | Clippers v. Blazers -2.5 | Top | 92-111 | Win | 100 | 18 h 21 m | Show |
At some point this season the Portland Trail Blazers will put together back-to-back strong performances and win consecutive games. No better time than the present given that the LA Clippers come to town for a Friday night game just a few days after handing the Blazers an embarrassing 116-86 loss Monday in California. Two nights later, the Blazers won 116-96 over Memphis (2-2). That’s a 50-point swing from the loss to the Clippers to the win over the Grizzlies. As for the Clippers, they followed up their performance against the Blazers by losing 92-79 at home to Cleveland (3-2). Blazers get revenge
10-28-21 | Jazz -9 v. Rockets | Top | 122-91 | Win | 100 | 16 h 59 m | Show |
The Utah Jazz has regained their dominance in the league. So far, they’ve won all three of their games by an average of 14 points. Their biggest win came in last game against the Denver Nuggets. Nikola Jokic, the reigning MVP, had an injury scare in the first half and did not play in the second. After coach Mike Malone advised his talisman to leave the court, this happened. The game featured 30 lead changes and 12 ties, but the Jazz ultimately won. Rudy Gobert is averaging 18.7 points and a ridiculous 19 rebounds per game thus far, but his block average is only 0.7 per game. Jordan Clarkson is proving his worth as the league’s best bench player, averaging 17.3 points on a 50% effective field goal percentage. Mike Conley was a big part of the Utah Jazz’s playoff push in 2021, and he’s back to full strength now. He’s averaging 14.0 points per game on 44 percent three-point shooting.
10-27-21 | Wizards v. Celtics -4.5 | Top | 116-107 | Loss | -105 | 16 h 31 m | Show |
Washington will have their work cut out for them with the Celtics, who have won their last two games. First, they’ll have to slow down Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, who combined for 71 points in their Monday night game against the Hornets. Another player to keep an eye on is Dennis Schröder. The guard seems to be finding his way on his new team and his recent performances are proof of progress being made. Last game, Schröder put up a season-high 23 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. The Celtics will certainly have the Wizards moving fast to the backcourt so lets see if their legs are ready.
10-26-21 | Nuggets v. Jazz -7 | Top | 110-122 | Win | 100 | 18 h 40 m | Show |
The Nuggets are scoring an average of 106.0 points per game which is 21st in the league, while shooting 52.1% overall and 37.7% from downtown. Jokic Is the scoring leader for Denver with an average of 29.5 points per game and the center is shooting 65.9% overall and 37.5% from behind the line. Will Barton is Denver's dish-king with a team-high 5.5 assists per game and Barton is also the second-leading scorer with an average of 16.0 points per game. Denver has been careless with the ball as the Nuggets are averaging 19.0 turnovers per game.
10-25-21 | Pelicans v. Wolves -5.5 | 107-98 | Loss | -108 | 16 h 51 m | Show
We’ve seen this dating back to the preseason where New Orleans simply can’t make the shots needed to get off to a fast start. A deficit later follows, several attempts at a comeback are presented, but it ultimately ends up being not enough. With a bench that’s struggling, the Pelicans will need to get into a good rhythm offensively early. They can’t afford to be facing another second quarter trailing, depending on a bench that has so far been nonexistent.
10-23-21 | Pistons v. Bulls -8 | Top | 82-97 | Win | 100 | 10 h 36 m | Show |
The Chicago Bulls have completely revamped their roster around shooting guard Zach LaVine. Looking at last season, he averaged 27.4 points, five rebounds, 4.9 assists, 0.5 blocks, and 0.8 steals in 35.1 minutes per game. He shot the ball well and should get better looks now as he shot 50.7 percent from the floor, 41.9 percent from three-point range, and 84.9 percent from the charity stripe. In his last game against the Detroit Pistons, he played 35 minutes and had 34 points, seven rebounds, four assists, a steal, and a block. If LaVine can figure out how to be a team player and be content with less touches, this team has the potential to be special.
10-20-21 | Celtics +2 v. Knicks | Top | 134-138 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 6 m | Show |
The Boston Celtics have a solid team behind small forward Jayson Tatum. Looking at his numbers from last season, he finished with 26.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 0.5 blocks, and 1.2 steals per game in 35.8 minutes. Tatum needs to shoot a little better as he finished shooting 45.9 percent from the field, 38.6 percent from beyond the arc, and 86.8 percent from the charity stripe. He’s going to need to step up even more as they are trying to remain competitive in the East without as much help.
10-08-21 | Lakers v. Warriors -3 | Top | 114-121 | Win | 100 | 8 h 45 m | Show |
The Warriors have had a far different preseason than the Lakers so far, as they’ve not only won both of their games, but they’ve also been playing all of their players (at least for the most part). While Frank Vogel has held LeBron James and Russell Westbrook out of both of their games, Curry has played in both contests for the Warriors. He’s averaging 13.5 points per game (in 17.4 minutes), and has gone 7-14 on 3-point attempts, because of course he has.
10-08-21 | Pelicans +8 v. Bulls | Top | 85-121 | Loss | -105 | 6 h 50 m | Show |
Despite this game not counting towards the 2021-22 regular season standings, the Pelicans versus the Bulls is going to be fun entertainment tonight. However, there’s no denying the fact that emotions have been ratcheted up across the local viewing area because of one questionably written article.
10-06-21 | Jazz v. Mavs -2.5 | Top | 101-111 | Win | 100 | 5 h 31 m | Show |
While two-time All-Star Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis provided plenty of optimism for the upcoming season in Sunday's scrimmage, expect Dallas to be cautious with their stars throughout the preseason slate. Doncic and Porzingis will play the first half vs. Utah, per the plan, and all of their minutes will be with each other.
10-06-21 | Spurs -2.5 v. Pistons | Top | 105-115 | Loss | -107 | 3 h 9 m | Show |
The Spurs will now hit the road for the first time in more than four months after blowing out the understaffed Utah Jazz in a phenomenal preseason opener on Monday. San Antonio thrived behind a new-look run-and-gun brand of basketball, befitting one of the youngest rosters in the NBA. And hopefully, their suffocating defense travels with them to Detroit as they take on a hobbled Eastern Conference bottom-dweller.
07-20-21 | Suns +5 v. Bucks | Top | 98-105 | Loss | -108 | 10 h 34 m | Show |
The Suns were a top-10 defense this season, but they allowed Milwaukee to shoot 57% and 14-of-28 from beyond the arc on their home floor. If they allow the Bucks to shoot over 50% from the floor and the three-point line again, the Suns will be heading to the golf course (and Tokyo). Expect them to be much better tonight.
07-17-21 | Bucks v. Suns -3.5 | Top | 123-119 | Loss | -108 | 11 h 34 m | Show |
Is a rugged, physical team that crashes the glass and forces mistakes just the wrong matchup for Phoenix? Or was this a case of some uncharacteristic Suns performances in the last two matchups? It’s hard to believe it’s not the latter given what the Suns have made their identity under head coach Monty Williams and general manager James Jones. Jones assembled an intelligent, hard-working group of guys that would be perfect for Williams to mold into the culture they wanted to establish for the organization. Seventeen turnovers marked only the second time the Suns reached that number in the postseason, the first occurrence since Game 3 of the first round. In the regular season, the Suns were seventh-best in the league in the number of possessions they turned over.
07-14-21 | Suns v. Bucks -4.5 | 103-109 | Win | 100 | 6 h 53 m | Show
Antetokounmpo dominated in Games 2 and as he recorded at least 40 points and 10 rebounds in each game He needs to stay aggressive despite any struggles from the foul line, limit his jump shot attempts, and put pressure on the rim as much as possible. If he can get Deandre Ayton in foul trouble again like he did in Game 3, the Bucks will be in a great spot.
07-11-21 | Suns v. Bucks -4.5 | Top | 100-120 | Win | 100 | 5 h 25 m | Show |
Obviously, you're going to get the Bucks best effort in this game. Antetokounmpo dominated in Game 2 as he scored a game-high 42 points, and he must have another big night in Game 3. He needs to stay aggressive despite any struggles from the foul line, limit his jumpshot attempts, and put pressure on the rim as much as possible. If he can get Deandre Ayton in foul trouble (easier said than done - he has yet to pick up five fouls in any postseason game), the Bucks will be in a great spot.
07-08-21 | Bucks v. Suns -4.5 | 108-118 | Win | 100 | 5 h 42 m | Show
If the Suns’ offense hopes to continue its success from Game 1, they need to continue staying a step ahead of the Bucks’ defense with excellent execution. The Suns consistently were ready for the Bucks’ defensive coverages and had counters ready to attack them. Expect Paul and Monty Williams to have the Suns prepared and continue making the right adjustments as they have all postseason long.
07-06-21 | Bucks v. Suns -6 | 105-118 | Win | 100 | 10 h 36 m | Show
The Bucks allowed the most long midrange shots in the NBA this season, and the Suns took the fourth-most of these shots. Overall in the midrange, the Bucks allowed the fourth-most shot attempts while the Suns took the sixth-most midrange shots (per Cleaning The Glass). The Bucks allowed the 11th-highest shooting percentage in both the long midrange and total midrange while the Suns shot the highest percentage in both the long midrange (46.6%) and all midrange shots (49.1% - via Cleaning The Glass).
07-03-21 | Bucks v. Hawks -2.5 | 118-107 | Loss | -110 | 16 h 58 m | Show
While the Bucks are preparing for life without Giannis, the Hawks are hopeful that their young star, Trae Young, will be back in the lineup. He remains questionable, which is better than the doubtful designation for Giannis and will surely at least give it a go in warmups with the season on the line. Thursday's game saw Bogdan Bogdanovic lead the way with 28 points, but with two other starts only scoring in single digits in 59 combined minutes, there was little the Hawks could do to replicate Young's scoring. While the Hawks need a better scoring output from the team as a whole, what they really need is the return of their most electric player in Young to test spread the floor and really test the Bucks' defensive resolve in game six.
07-01-21 | Hawks +2 v. Bucks | Top | 112-123 | Loss | -102 | 13 h 41 m | Show |
The Bucks open as two-point favorites with the status of Young and Capela up in the air, while that number will probably be higher if the Hawks starting point guard or center is ruled out for Game 5. If Young and Capela are ruled in, the Hawks might honestly wind up being the favorite for the first time all series, assuming Antetokounmpo ends up being ruled out. Take the bucket now but anticipate the stars playing for both.
06-30-21 | Suns v. Clippers +1 | Top | 130-103 | Loss | -107 | 7 h 27 m | Show |
The Clippers have covered five of their last six home games in the postseason, and are 6-1 ATS after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.
06-29-21 | Bucks v. Hawks +7 | Top | 88-110 | Win | 100 | 9 h 40 m | Show |
Trae Young set the tone for the Bucks vs Hawks series as he scored 48 points in Game 1 to lead his team to victory. His brilliant performance in Game 3 gave the Hawks hopes to take a 2-1 lead, but they were left unfulfilled after he rolled his ankles in the 3rd quarter, which took the game away from them. His availability for this game is reported as questionable, but the fighter that Trae is, you can expect him to make an appearance in Game 4. Don't fall in the trap that Young isn't 100% so I'll lay a huge number with the Bucks. Take the Hawks and the generous number.
06-28-21 | Clippers v. Suns -5.5 | Top | 116-102 | Loss | -100 | 15 h 18 m | Show |
It’s tough to look at Game 5 odds between the Clippers and Suns and feel confident in the Clippers to win. Paul George did a great job leading the team past the Jazz in the last round without Kawhi Leonard, but he looks to have lost some steam in the conference semifinals. They need an answer for the tight defense they’ve gotten from Phoenix lately, but I worry that the team is kind of at the end of its road. Reggie Jackson was incredibly inefficient in Game 4, despite scoring 20 points. Terance Mann has been awesome this postseason, but he and Paul George aren’t going to be enough to hang with the Suns by themselves. The Suns are playing better basketball than any team in the world right now (I know there are only four left playing). Chris Paul probably should have gotten more consideration for MVP because you can see the impact he’s had on this team.
06-27-21 | Bucks v. Hawks +5 | Top | 113-102 | Loss | -112 | 11 h 45 m | Show |
You can bet that the Hawks won't shoot just over 41% from the field and 25% from beyond the arc. I'm more than happy to take the generous overreaction from the oddsmakers.
06-25-21 | Hawks +8 v. Bucks | Top | 91-125 | Loss | -103 | 6 h 30 m | Show |
If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it. That should be the mantra heading into Game 2 on Friday night. The Hawks need to continue to put Young in the pick-and-roll and let him go to work. Milwaukee looked sluggish on the floor as the burgeoning superstar point guard put defenders on “Dancing with the Stars: The Trae Young Edition.” His handles and ability to create openings off the dribble had the Bucks on their heels from start to finish.
06-23-21 | Hawks +8.5 v. Bucks | Top | 116-113 | Win | 100 | 6 h 23 m | Show |
While Jrue Holiday is one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA, he is better against stronger and sturdier guards than he is quick and elusive ones, so Young must capitalize on his speed to get downhill as much as possible. While Brook Lopez and the Bucks play the NBA’s best drop-scheme defense, it’s still a drop, and Young should have opportunities to score from the midrange on floaters.
06-20-21 | Hawks +7 v. 76ers | Top | 103-96 | Win | 100 | 11 h 34 m | Show |
The Atlanta Hawks have been a solid defense in the playoffs as they are sixth out of 16 teams allowing 105.8 points per game. In Game 6 against the Philadelphia 76ers, they gave up 104 points on 38-of-93 (40.9 percent) from the floor, 12-of-29 (41.4 percent) from three, and 23 free-throw attempts. If they can defend without fouling, it will be a great chance for the Atlanta Hawks to be eight wins away from the NBA Championship.
06-18-21 | Jazz -2 v. Clippers | Top | 119-131 | Loss | -110 | 8 h 31 m | Show |
The Jazz come into this contest 3rd in the league in scoring offense with 116.7 points per game this postseason. Utah is tied for 10th in rebounding by pulling down 42.3 boards per night while standing 14th by dishing out 19.7 assists a night. Utah is 10th in the league in scoring defense as they allow 116.4 points per contest. I'm more than happy to take advantage of the generous plus money.
06-17-21 | Nets +6 v. Bucks | Top | 89-104 | Loss | -114 | 6 h 41 m | Show |
After winning the third and fourth game of the series at home, the Milwaukee Bucks were favored on the road in Game 5, with Kyrie Irving out and the health of James Harden in question. Milwaukee looked like they would be too much for the Nets for the first half, but the second half told a different story, and Milwaukee had no answer for Kevin Durant.
06-16-21 | Hawks +7 v. 76ers | Top | 109-106 | Win | 100 | 6 h 26 m | Show |
Despite the offensive struggles on Monday, the Hawks' defense stepped up, holding the 76ers to just 38 points in the second half. Atlanta is now just two wins away from their first Eastern Conference Finals appearance since 2015, and just their second-ever conference finals appearance since the franchise moved from St. Louis to Atlanta in 1968.
06-15-21 | Bucks v. Nets +3 | Top | 108-114 | Win | 100 | 6 h 2 m | Show |
The Milwaukee Bucks need to get more players involved offensively. Giannis Antetokounmpo is scoring an average of 26.6 points per game during the postseason and the Bucks need other players such as Khris Middleton, Jrue Holiday and Bryn Forbes to step up and give them more offense. Middleton is shooting only 43% in the postseason, while Holiday is shooting 43.2%, but only 25.7% from long distance. Holiday is the leader in assists during the postseason with an average of 7.8 dishes per contest but the Bucks have also been careless with the ball turning it over at a rate of 13.8 miscues per contest. It looks like Harden will play for the Nets in this one.
06-14-21 | Jazz v. Clippers -4.5 | Top | 104-118 | Win | 100 | 17 h 43 m | Show |
Clippers fans wanted a signature performance from Paul George in Game 3, and they got exactly that. He shot 12 of 24 and 6 of 10 from the free-throw line to finish with 31 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists and a steal. That kind of line for the oft-struggling PG is important because when he’s making shots, the Jazz have to stretch out their defense a lot more. Kawhi Leonard also had a good game. He went 14 of 24 from the field (1 of 6 from deep) and ended the game with 34 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and a block. When he and George are doing things like combining for 65 points, things are much easier for the rest of the team.
06-13-21 | Suns -3 v. Nuggets | Top | 125-118 | Win | 100 | 7 h 18 m | Show |
The Suns showed no complacency in Game 3, jumping out to a 10 point lead after the first quarter. The Nuggets managed to cut the half-time lead to four points, but the Suns came out and continued to impose their will in the third quarter. The Suns shot 53.1% (43-81) from the floor and (12-26) from three-point range in the win. Devin Booker led the scoring with 28 points, followed by Chris Paul with 27. DeAndre Ayton grabbed a team-high 15 boards in the victory. Suns win this one and move on.
06-13-21 | Nets -2 v. Bucks | Top | 96-107 | Loss | -100 | 3 h 32 m | Show |
Milwaukee attempts to level the series at 2-2 with a victory at home on Sunday. The Bucks used a slow-down offense and tough man-to-man defense to hold the high-scoring Nets to only 83 points in Game 3. Milwaukee shot only 37.8% overall against Brooklyn in Game 3 and was below 20% from 3. Milwaukee can't shoot like that again and expect to come out on top.
06-12-21 | Jazz v. Clippers -4.5 | Top | 106-132 | Win | 100 | 10 h 37 m | Show |
The Clippers have covered 4 of their last 5 games as a favorite, while the Jazz are a horrific 2-10 ATS against teams with a winning home record. This has to be the Clippers best effort or they're obviously done.
06-11-21 | Suns +2 v. Nuggets | 116-102 | Win | 100 | 9 h 32 m | Show
The Phoenix defense continues to control games, as the Suns have held their opponents to 100 or fewer points in five of eight postseason games.
06-11-21 | 76ers -1.5 v. Hawks | Top | 127-111 | Win | 100 | 6 h 15 m | Show |
The 76ers came out of the gate strong on Wednesday, jumping out to an 18 point lead in the first quarter. While the Hawks pulled with-in two points at the half, Philly held on thanks to a strong fourth quarter. The 76ers shot 52.9% from the floor and 46.2% from beyond the arc in the win. The 76ers also won the turnover battle, only committing nine, compared to 18 for Atlanta.
06-10-21 | Clippers v. Jazz -3 | 111-117 | Win | 100 | 14 h 24 m | Show
Utah went 40.7% (37-91) from the floor, 34% (17-50) from three, and 80.8% (21-26) from the line in the victory on Tuesday. The Jazz was without Mike Conley wh averaged 16.2 points and 6.0 assists per game during the regular season due to a hamstring injury. Conley is questionable for Game 2. Those numbers indicate that the Jazz can be even better in game two.
06-10-21 | Nets +3.5 v. Bucks | Top | 83-86 | Win | 100 | 12 h 35 m | Show |
The Milwaukee Bucks seemed like an ideal team to oppose the Nets’ bid for instant greatness. Instead, they are shriveling in the playoffs again. If their home court can’t rescue them from a 2-0 series deficit, if they can’t recover from the embarrassment of a 39-point loss in Game 2, they will squander another season of Giannis Antetokounmpo’s brilliance. What was supposed to be a rare Finals-caliber matchup in the second round now feels like an exhibition of desperation.
06-09-21 | Nuggets +5.5 v. Suns | 98-123 | Loss | -113 | 8 h 10 m | Show
Denver shot 46.7%(43-92) from the floor and 35% (14-40) from three-point range in the loss. What stands out the most was that the Nuggets only attempted six free throws the entire game. Expect that to change tonight.
06-08-21 | Clippers +3 v. Jazz | Top | 109-112 | Push | 0 | 8 h 60 m | Show |
The Clippers are fourth in scoring defense with opponents putting up 107.8 points per game on 52.9% shooting from two and 35.6% shooting from beyond the arc. That will be enough for them to get the win/cover tonight.
06-08-21 | Hawks +6 v. 76ers | 102-118 | Loss | -101 | 5 h 28 m | Show
The Hawks got off to a dream start in a series-opening game that looked like it was going to be a blowout through three quarters, although things got far too close for comfort in the last minute as they nearly collapsed. Atlanta piled up 74 points in the first half and led by as many as 25 points midway through the third. Philadelphia put together a massive rally to make it a one-possession game in the final minute, but Bogdan Bogdanovic hit a massive three and drained the game-winning free throws. The public will be all over the Sixers tonight because of the almost collapse by the Hawks. That's why I like Atlanta even more. they won't come into this one over confident.
06-07-21 | Nuggets +5 v. Suns | Top | 105-122 | Loss | -105 | 10 h 45 m | Show |
The Nuggets offense has been nearly unstoppable through the first six games of the postseason. Denver is scoring an average of 120.8 points per game through six games of the playoffs and is shooting 47.2% overall and 40.6% from beyond the arc.
06-07-21 | Bucks +1 v. Nets | Top | 86-125 | Loss | -110 | 7 h 1 m | Show |
The Nets struggled offensively this season, at times, mostly due to inconsistent line-ups. James Harden is out for this one, while the Bucks still need to prove that they are going to be a reliable bet from beyond the arc. This game should be even more of a grinder than game one.
06-06-21 | Mavs v. Clippers -6.5 | Top | 111-126 | Win | 100 | 6 h 32 m | Show |
The Mavericks played well offensively through the first three games of the series, but they have struggled since, averaging 94.3 points per game in their last three games.
06-06-21 | Hawks +3.5 v. 76ers | 128-124 | Win | 101 | 3 h 59 m | Show
The status of Joel Embiid remains in doubt entering Game 1 on Sunday afternoon as he nurses a meniscus tear in his knee. The 76ers know that they will need their MVP caliber big man back in order to beat a tough Hawks team over the course of seven games. "I can't give you a timeline," Sixers head coach Doc Rivers said to the AP regarding Embiid's status. With comments like that, it is reasonable to assume Doc and the medical staff rest Embiid in Game 1. Without Embiid, the Hawks are the right side.
06-05-21 | Bucks +4 v. Nets | Top | 107-115 | Loss | -102 | 10 h 55 m | Show |
Milwaukee led the NBA during the regular season with 120.1 points per game on 48.7% shooting. In the first round against the Heat, Giannis averaged 23 points, 15 rebounds, and 7.8 assists. Impressively, he only turned the ball over three times total while playing 36 minutes a night. But similar to last year’s series with Miami, the perennial superstar struggled with his three-point shot, going 1 for 16 in the four games. Expect Giannis to have a better series against the Nets.
06-04-21 | Clippers v. Mavs +2.5 | Top | 104-97 | Loss | -100 | 14 h 52 m | Show |
Kawhi Leonard has been the only player in the series who has gone toe-to-toe statistically with Dončić and not be completely overwhelmed. Leonard has averaged 30.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and 4 assists through five games . The Clippers still are uncertain whether Serge Ibaka will be available. He’s missed the last two games with back issues. Dallas closes this series out tonight.
06-03-21 | Nuggets +5 v. Blazers | Top | 126-115 | Win | 100 | 12 h 5 m | Show |
Denver shot 48.1% from the floor, 45.5% from three-point range and, 84.4% from the line in their game five win. If the Blazers can't play defense then I have to take the points.
06-02-21 | Mavs +7 v. Clippers | Top | 105-100 | Win | 100 | 14 h 13 m | Show |
The health of point guard Luka Doncic is of major concern to the Mavs as they try to seize control of this series after being up at one point in this best-of-seven series, 2-0. The third-year point guard was seriously affected by a cervical strain in Game 4 that limited his movements as he collected just 19 points, six rebounds, and six assists. Coach Rick Carlisle said he expects Doncic to play in Game 5. “He seems to be doing better, so that’s good news,” Carlisle said.
06-02-21 | Hawks +1.5 v. Knicks | 103-89 | Win | 100 | 12 h 37 m | Show
On Sunday, the Hawks shot 36-82 (43.9%) from the field, 15-39 (38.5%) from three-point range, and 26-28 (92.9%) from the free-throw line. The Hawks also outrebounded the Knicks 48 to 39. John Collins was the team's second-leading scorer for the game adding 22 points, and Clint Capela had 10 points and 15 rebounds. That's not the best the hawks can play. Anticipate the close-out here.
06-02-21 | Wizards v. 76ers -6 | Top | 112-129 | Win | 100 | 11 h 2 m | Show |
Philly will go only as far as their star center can take them. Embiid missed 10 games during the regular season after getting a bone bruise on his left knee while playing against Washington in March, and his status for Wednesday’s game is uncertain. In this one, with or without Embiid, the 76ers will be too tough as they close out the Wizards.
06-01-21 | Lakers +5 v. Suns | Top | 85-115 | Loss | -107 | 14 h 18 m | Show |
Word is that Anthony Davis will be out for this one, but if he plays, I'd rather be sitting with a plus five ticket than an overeaction -5.
06-01-21 | Blazers +2 v. Nuggets | Top | 140-147 | Loss | -102 | 13 h 25 m | Show |
The Blazers are 12-4 ATS in their last 16 games and 8-2 STS in their last 10 road games, while Denver is just 6-12 ATS against the Western Conference.
06-01-21 | Celtics +12.5 v. Nets | Top | 109-123 | Loss | -110 | 12 h 11 m | Show |
Boston is 9-4 in their last 13 road games and 7-3 ATS after a 10-pt loss or more. The Nets will win but the points are too much for me to lay.
05-31-21 | Jazz v. Grizzlies +6 | Top | 120-113 | Loss | -105 | 10 h 27 m | Show |
The series is far from over. The Grizzlies can still restore the feeling of the 2011 Playoffs that saw the Memphis Grizzlies upset the 1 seeded San Antonio Spurs - but it starts with tonight. This young Memphis Grizzlies squad got to experience the “Grindhouse” playoff atmosphere for the first time. They’ve taken two on the chin and are now on the outside looking in of a competitive playoff series. The game will be decided by whether or not the Memphis Grizzlies can execute the points listed above. The Grizzlies are once again the underdogs with their backs against the wall and if the last two weeks are any indication that’s the situation they love the most.
05-31-21 | 76ers v. Wizards +9 | 114-122 | Win | 100 | 8 h 49 m | Show
The Wizards shot 39.6 percent from the field and just 20.9 percent from beyond the arc compared to the 76ers 58.6 percent from the field and 51.5 percent from downtown. Neither team did what it usually is counted on to do. The Wizards are better than they were in game three and the Sixers won't shoot 52% from beyond the arc. This will be the Wizard's best effort since the first three-quarters of game one.
05-30-21 | Clippers v. Mavs +3.5 | 106-81 | Loss | -102 | 8 h 14 m | Show
The Dallas Mavericks look to bounce back from their Game 3 collapse to take control of their first-round playoff series on Sunday. Luka Doncic nearly recorded a triple-double, as he had game-highs with 44 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists on Friday night. Maxi Kleber and Jalen Brunson added 14 points apiece in the loss. They shot 44.2% from the floor and 51.3% from three-point range in the game. That'll be good enough to win tonight if they shore up their defense in the paint.
05-30-21 | Nets v. Celtics +8 | Top | 141-126 | Loss | -108 | 6 h 16 m | Show |
I have concerns about Brooklyn defensively and if that's going to be an issue it's tough to lay a big number. The Nets have given up 115.2 points per game in the postseason, and 125 points in game three. I need to see a better effort in game four.
05-29-21 | Jazz v. Grizzlies +5.5 | Top | 121-111 | Loss | -110 | 9 h 46 m | Show |
The Grizzlies scored 43 points in the third quarter which broke a franchise record, on 67% shooting, led by Morant's 13 in the period. Fellow guard Dillon Brooks, who scored 23 points, had a dunk that got the Grizzlies within 121-112 with 7:06 to play in the fourth, but Memphis couldn't stop Utah's three-point barrage. Memphis’ supporting cast was hampered by foul trouble for most of the night. Jonas Valanciunas got his second foul 3:13 into the game, and Brooks got his second a couple of minutes later on a four-point play by Mitchell. Expect the Grizzlies to make some adjustments addressing their physicality in Game 3.
05-29-21 | 76ers v. Wizards +6.5 | 132-103 | Loss | -101 | 7 h 31 m | Show
I still think there is a fight in the Wizards as the series shifts to DC. The public will predictably be all over the 76ers today but we haven't seen the best out of Washington yet, and with this being a crucial game three, I'm more than happy to take the generous points.
05-29-21 | Bucks v. Heat +4.5 | Top | 120-103 | Loss | -104 | 1 h 5 m | Show |
This is going to be a match-up of perimeter defense. The Heat must rely on their 3-pt shooting to avoid the sweep on their home court. Word is that the Heat are still focused on winning and have not given up. I'll back them one more time here.
05-28-21 | Clippers v. Mavs +2.5 | Top | 118-108 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 44 m | Show |
This is one series where I don't think the team down 2-0 will step up. This is a team that sent the wrong message to their fans by avoiding the Lakers in the first round and now look disinterested in this series. I'm going to take the Mavericks and the points on their home court.
05-28-21 | Nets v. Celtics +8 | 119-125 | Win | 100 | 7 h 48 m | Show
Desperate times for the Celtics in game three. If we're ever going to ee Boston's best effort it's going to be tonight. They may not win but they'll at least stay within the number at home or this series is over.
05-28-21 | Knicks v. Hawks -4.5 | 94-105 | Win | 100 | 5 h 10 m | Show
The public will likely eat up the Knicks and the points but we're better than that. Let's not forget that Atlanta is an incredible 23-9 against the number at home this season. My numbers indicate that Atlanta could win this by double digits.
05-27-21 | Nuggets +4 v. Blazers | Top | 120-115 | Win | 100 | 8 h 33 m | Show |
Everyone thinks that going home for Portland will give bettors the edge. That's the wrong way to look at this. If you watched game two, Denver allowed Lillard to get his points while holding everyone else to sub-par performances. I'll take Denver in this match-up who can neutralize Lillard's points with Jokic. Denver has the edge after throwing out the two superstars.
05-27-21 | Suns v. Lakers -6.5 | 95-109 | Win | 100 | 7 h 28 m | Show
Phoenix’s main concern for game three is the status of Chris Paul’s shoulder. The Suns’ point guard finished with six points and five assists in 23 minutes while dealing with a shoulder injury that happened in Sunday's game one. The 11-time All-Star didn't play in the final minutes when the Suns tried to make a push to tie the game. Paul had some good moments but clearly wasn't at 100 percent
05-27-21 | Bucks v. Heat +1.5 | Top | 113-84 | Loss | -107 | 5 h 57 m | Show |
The oddsmakers are giving me points with the team I think will win outright. We crushed the books with the Milwaukee Bucks in game two but we're coming back with the Heat in a must-win spot.
05-26-21 | Grizzlies v. Jazz -9.5 | 129-141 | Win | 100 | 8 h 38 m | Show
The Jazz will try to bounce back with a win on Wednesday, which will give them their eighth win in their last 11 games and even up the series. The good news for Jazz fans is they will have their star back in the lineup, with Donovan Mitchell cleared to return for this game after missing more than a month of action with an ankle injury.
05-26-21 | Hawks +2 v. Knicks | Top | 92-101 | Loss | -107 | 5 h 22 m | Show |
The Atlanta Hawks defense on Sunday in Game 1 forced the Knicks into poor shot selection and resulted in a poor shooting night for New York's leading scorer during the regular season Julius Randle. The public will be all over New York in game two but we're sharper than that.
05-26-21 | Wizards v. 76ers -8 | Top | 95-120 | Win | 100 | 4 h 29 m | Show |
The Sixers hung on for their first playoff win in two years, even as Ben Simmons went 0 for 6 from the free-throw line and scored only six points. He did have 15 rebounds and 15 assists. Embiid still managed to score 30 points while being in foul trouble most of the contest. They went a whopping 27-5 in the regular season with Simmons, Seth Curry, Danny Green, Harris, and Embiid as the starting lineup. Tobias’ 28 first-half points were the most by a Sixer in a playoff game since the legendary Allen Iverson scored 30 against New Orleans in 2003. Sixers flex their muscles tonight. |
