12-21-22 | Michigan +5.5 v. North Carolina | Top | 76-80 | Win | 100 | 8 h 33 m | Show |
Michigan and North Carolina are experienced enough to understand winter missteps are easier to forget with a little success in March. While neither college basketball powerhouse is ready to shed serious aspirations of playing into April 2023, this season is not going according to plan for either program just yet. But expectations could come into focus Wednesday night when the Wolverines and Tar Heels meet at Charlotte, N.C. The neutral-site game comes in the inaugural Jumpman Invitational. The winner of the game takes home a boost in the way of a non-conference victory. "When we get it clicking, just like last year, it's going to be scary," North Carolina guard Leaky Black. "When the games really matter, we'll show up." North Carolina (8-4) has won three in a row since a four-game losing streak knocked it out of the national rankings.
12-21-22 | George Mason +3 v. Old Dominion | 77-78 | Win | 100 | 5 h 47 m | Show
On their road to seven victories this season, the Monarchs have been effective defensively. Regarding scoring defense, they are rated 66th in the country. They rank 94th in three-point defense and have the 108th-most effective defense in the nation.
12-20-22 | Oklahoma +3.5 v. Florida | 62-53 | Win | 100 | 11 h 57 m | Show
It won't be long before Florida and Oklahoma are Southeastern Conference foes. For now, though, the Gators and Sooners will play in the final nonconference tune-up before Florida begins SEC play and Oklahoma starts its Big 12 schedule. The teams meet Tuesday in Charlotte, N.C., as part of the two-day Jumpman Invitational. Oklahoma's identity has been clear so far. The Sooners (8-3) are among the nation's most efficient offensive teams, shooting 51.5 percent from the field. Only three teams in Division I are shooting at a better clip. Oklahoma is coming off an 87-66 victory over Central Arkansas where the Sooners shot 63.6 percent from the floor -- their best shooting performance in more than a decade. Over their last three games, the Sooners are shooting 59.6 percent from the field over their last three games.
12-20-22 | Wofford v. Texas A&M -14 | 67-62 | Loss | -115 | 3 h 25 m | Show
Texas A&M opens a three-game homestand to finish the calendar year by hosting Wofford on Tuesday at College Station, Texas. The Aggies (6-4) wind up non-conference play with home games against Northwestern State and Prairie View A&M next week before starting SEC play on Jan. 4. The Aggies look to get things right after losing two of their past three games, the last an 83-79 loss at Memphis on Saturday. Coach Buzz Williams wants to get a full 40-minute effort out of the Aggies as they approach a conference game at Florida to start the new year.

12-19-22 | Manhattan +4.5 v. Marist | Top | 80-69 | Win | 100 | 3 h 18 m | Show |
Offensive production has been hard to come by for Marist this season, as they are currently ranked 277th in college basketball at 68.8 points per game. A major reason for low-scoring totals is the fact that they have played at a below-average pace, and have struggled to knock down outside shots. As a team, the Red Foxes’ 3-point shooting percentage sits at just 34.4%, placing them 219th in the NCAA.
12-19-22 | Hofstra +2 v. South Florida | Top | 70-77 | Loss | -110 | 3 h 15 m | Show |
Offensive production has been hard to come by for Marist this season, as they are currently ranked 277th in college basketball at 68.8 points per game. A major reason for low-scoring totals is the fact that they have played at a below-average pace, and have struggled to knock down outside shots. 12-19-22 | IUPU-Indianapolis +18 v. Southern Indiana | 74-87 | Win | 100 | 1 h 35 m | Show

12-18-22 | Wizards +4.5 v. Lakers | 117-119 | Win | 100 | 9 h 55 m | Show
Anthony Davis has been able to avoid significant injuries so far this season, but he will sit out due to right foot soreness when the Los Angeles Lakers host the Washington Wizards on Sunday. It will be only the fourth game Davis has missed this season, but the Lakers haven't yet pinned down the severity of the injury. Davis has been injury-prone over his previous 10 seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans (seven) and Lakers (three), averaging just 60.4 games per season. Los Angeles surely is hoping the current ailment doesn't lead to a substantial absence. Davis injured the foot during Friday night's 126-108 home victory over the Nuggets, apparently when he collided with the leg of Denver star Nikola Jokic while both players were in the air. The eight-time All-Star is enjoying a solid campaign with averages of 27.4 points and 12.1 rebounds in 25 games. Fellow star LeBron James said after Friday's game that he's hoping it will be a short absence for Davis.
12-18-22 | Nets v. Pistons +8.5 | 124-121 | Win | 100 | 6 h 30 m | Show
The scorching Brooklyn Nets can complete the sweep of a four-game road trip with a victory over the Detroit Pistons on Sunday. The Nets have won five straight games and nine of their last 10 games, although their most recent victory did not come easy. Brooklyn needed a Kyrie Irving 3-pointer just before the final buzzer to defeat the Toronto Raptors 119-116. Irving had never previously drained a buzzer-beating game-winner in his career. He wasn't supposed to take the final shot. Coach Jacque Vaughn drew up a play for Kevin Durant, but Durant felt Irving had the hot hand.
12-18-22 | Warriors +6 v. Raptors | 126-110 | Win | 100 | 5 h 28 m | Show
One team will end a losing streak Sunday when the short-handed Golden State Warriors visit the Toronto Raptors. The Warriors, who will be without Stephen Curry (partially dislocated left shoulder) for a few weeks, lost Friday to the host Philadelphia 76ers 118-106 for their third successive defeat. The Warriors were also without Draymond Green (quadriceps) and Andrew Wiggins (thigh). Meanwhile, Kyrie Irving made a buzzer-beating 3-pointer Friday to give the visiting Brooklyn Nets a 119-116 victory over the Raptors, who lost their fourth straight. The Raptors were without O.G. Anunoby (hip) for the third consecutive game and Gary Trent Jr. (quadriceps) was a late scratch. The Warriors did get some good news when Wiggins was cleared to return to practice on Thursday. He was injured while scoring 36 points against the Houston Rockets on Dec. 3. This is the first meeting of the season between the teams who met in 2019 NBA Finals, won by Toronto. The Warriors, the reigning NBA champions, will be playing the fourth game of a six-game trip. The Raptors will complete a three-game homestand.
12-18-22 | Knicks v. Pacers | 109-106 | Loss | -110 | 5 h 33 m | Show
It's been almost a decade since the New York Knicks won consecutive playoff games. But if everything goes as Tom Thibodeau hopes, the Knicks will rely in the spring on their experiences this week in Chicago. The Knicks will look to continue surging Sunday afternoon, when they are slated to visit the Indiana Pacers in a battle of longtime Eastern Conference rivals. Both teams were off Saturday after playing on the road Friday, when the Knicks rolled past the Chicago Bulls 114-91 and the Pacers squandered a double-digit fourth-quarter lead in a 118-112 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The win was the sixth straight for the Knicks, who extended their longest winning streak in two seasons by winning back-to-back games in Chicago. New York outlasted the Bulls 128-120 in overtime on Wednesday night.
12-18-22 | Buffalo v. West Virginia -18.5 | Top | 78-96 | Loss | -110 | 7 h 32 m | Show |
West Virginia will look to extend its winning streak to three games when it plays host to Buffalo on Sunday at Morgantown, W.Va. Neither team has played since Dec. 10. The Mountaineers (8-2) last earned an 81-70 win over visiting UAB, while the Bulls (5-5) saw a four-game winning streak end with an 88-63 loss to Tulane in the Holiday Hoopsgiving event at Atlanta. The Mountaineers led the Blazers 40-31 at halftime, but the game was tied at 47-all with 13:50 remaining. West Virginia responded by going on a 6-2 run to take a 55-49 lead it wouldn't relinquish following Erik Stevenson's layup with 11:24 left. The Mountaineers forced 19 turnovers.
12-18-22 | Tarleton St +3 v. Air Force | 67-81 | Loss | -110 | 5 h 55 m | Show
Offensive production has been hard to come by for Air Force this season, as they are currently ranked 466th in college basketball at 59.0 points per game. A major reason for low scoring totals is the fact that that have played at a below average pace, and have struggled to knock down outside shots. As a team, the Falcons’ 3-point shooting percentage sits at just 33.3%, placing them 291st in the NCAA.
12-18-22 | Belmont +5.5 v. Chattanooga | 83-79 | Win | 100 | 4 h 37 m | Show
The Bruins are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games following a straight-up loss, while the Mocs are just 6-18-2 ATS in their last 26 Sunday games
12-17-22 | Tennessee +3.5 v. Arizona | 70-75 | Loss | -110 | 11 h 13 m | Show
No. 6 Tennessee plays at No. 9 Arizona in what will be an epic clash of styles on Saturday night in Tucson, Ariz. Tennessee (9-1), tough and physical, ranks first nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency, according to kenpom.com through Wednesday's games. Arizona (9-1), which loves to play fast, is first in adjusted offensive efficiency and leads the country in scoring (92.0 points per game) and shooting percentage (54.7). "It's going to be a fistfight," said Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd, whose program has won 24 consecutive games at McKale Center. "That's the way they play, and there's just no other way to describe it. If you think you're going to go in and win this game by being dainty and cute, you've got another thing coming. We're excited for the challenge, and it's a great program coming to McKale. I think Coach (Rick) Barnes is one of the best ever to do it, so it's an honor for us to compete against them." The Vols, who will be playing their first road game, are first nationally in 3-point percentage defense (20.2), second in field goal percentage defense (32.7), and third in scoring defense (51.4 ppg) through Wednesday's games. They beat then-No. 13 Maryland 56-53 in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Sunday, allowing only one two-point field goal in the first half.
12-17-22 | Jazz +4 v. Bucks | 97-123 | Loss | -110 | 7 h 20 m | Show
On a night when the Utah Jazz picked up a second consecutive win over the team that had the best record in the Western Conference, the Milwaukee Bucks had one of those games you would just rather forget. Milwaukee fell behind Memphis by 15 points at the end of the first quarter, trailed by 29 at halftime, was outscored 47-30 in the third quarter and ended up getting blown away 142-101 by the Grizzlies on the road. "We were just beaten soundly in every way, shape and form, and we have to own that," Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer said. The Jazz will try to build on the momentum they gained with a pair of nice victories over the New Orleans Pelicans at home earlier this week and the Bucks will try to get back to their usual selves when the two teams meet up Saturday in Milwaukee.
12-17-22 | CS Sacramento +9.5 v. Fresno State | 59-53 | Win | 100 | 8 h 50 m | Show
Sacramento State will be counting on another strong performance from the team’s leading scorer Zach Chappell who is averaging 15.7 points per game for the Hornets. Chappell is also important to the team’s ability to score on the perimeter. So far, he leads the team in 3-point shots made. Also key to the Hornets’ offensive gameplan is the play of Akolda Mawein who has hit 56.3% of his field goal attempts on his way to averaging 10.8 points per game.
12-17-22 | Texas A&M +6.5 v. Memphis | 79-83 | Win | 100 | 8 h 35 m | Show
Texas A&M is looking to build momentum after its latest win. Memphis is hoping to bounce back after nearly pulling off an upset of a nationally ranked opponent. Saturday night will determine which team gets things to go its way as the Aggies hit the road for a nonconference battle against the Tigers. A&M (6-3) topped Oregon State 72-54 on Sunday behind an impressive defensive effort, particularly in the second half when it limited the Beavers to 24 points. It's the fourth time this season the Aggies have held a team to fewer than 60. "I think that when we're hooked up on defense, we're one of the best in the country," guard Dexter Dennis told 12thman.com. "We try to do that as much as we can, and the coach (Buzz Williams) gets all the credit. Coach has been doing a good job of making sure we're getting better every day, improving our weaknesses as a team and as individuals. All of the credit goes to coach."
12-17-22 | Davidson +15.5 v. Purdue | 61-69 | Win | 100 | 7 h 2 m | Show
Davidson (7-3) hasn't played since a Dec. 7 victory against visiting Western Carolina. That halted a two-game skid that included a two-point overtime loss to Charlotte and a two-point setback at Delaware. "We made a major, major emphasis about what we can do about our (situational) defensive mentality," first-year Davidson coach Matt McKillop said. "When you do good things on the defensive end, it gives you confidence. It gives you energy." The Wildcats will need that defensive attentiveness in dealing with Purdue. Center Zach Edey of Purdue has been named the Big Ten Player of the Week for the past three weeks. He's averaging 22.0 points per game, despite a season-low 11 in last Saturday's overtime victory at Nebraska, to go with a nation's-best 13.7 rebounds per outing.
12-17-22 | Toledo +3.5 v. Marshall | 85-100 | Loss | -115 | 4 h 24 m | Show
The Toledo Rockets have played well offensively this season, as they are averaging 89.3 points while shooting an impressive 47.7 percent from the floor. We'll take a team that can hit almost 90 points a game and the points.
12-14-22 | Wolves +6.5 v. Clippers | 88-99 | Loss | -110 | 6 h 8 m | Show
The Los Angeles Clippers are "oh, so close" to being whole again and just showed what their full potential can be in advance of a meeting with the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday. The Clippers got off to a hot start Monday, overcame a second-quarter lull and cruised to a 113-93 victory over the NBA-best Boston Celtics. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George led the Clippers in scoring as expected, with a combined 51 points, but it was the Los Angeles defense that showed why the team is finally becoming one to reckon with. The Clippers held the Celtics below 100 points for the first time this season, showing a complete package in just the eighth game this season that Leonard and George have played together. "We did a great job pretty much across the whole board," George said. "... Of course, you could nitpick and probably clean up a lot of possessions, but I think when you look at this game overall, we did pretty much everything that we wanted to do from a game plan standpoint." Close to a return is sharpshooter Norman Powell (groin), who would give Los Angeles its full array of talent. After missing the last seven games, Powell could be back as soon as Wednesday. As well-rounded as the Clippers can potentially be as a team, it is Leonard that was expected to guide the way. His 25 points Monday came mostly on 10-of-12 shooting from the field.
12-14-22 | Cavs +2.5 v. Mavs | 105-90 | Win | 100 | 5 h 11 m | Show
Free throws have been especially costly this season for the Dallas Mavericks, who host the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday. Dallas is 14-13 while shooting just 72.7 percent from the foul line, which ranks 29th in the league. Memphis is the only team with a lower percentage (70.2). "Literally, we'd probably have five more wins if we could shoot free throws," Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said. "Easily. It's just the way it goes. We went through the same things early last year and for some reason it's been an Achilles heel." Dallas showed some improvement in its last game, a 121-114 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday. The Mavericks snapped a two-game losing skid while making 21 of 25 (84 percent) from the foul line. Luka Doncic returned after missing one game to rest his right quad contusion and tallied 38 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists, while Spencer Dinwiddie recorded his first double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 assists. Doncic has opened the season by scoring at least 20 points in 34 straight games, matching Mark Aguirre's 1983-84 Mavericks record. The Mavericks have won seven of the past eight meetings against Cleveland. They will face the Cavs twice in the next four days, as Dallas hosts Portland on Friday before starting a four-game road trip Saturday in Cleveland.
12-12-22 | Rice v. Texas -24 | 81-87 | Loss | -110 | 7 h 11 m | Show
No. 7 Texas experienced its first loss of the season last week, but that isn't the same sort of adversity the Longhorns will be facing Monday night when they host Rice in Austin, Texas. Longhorns players woke up Monday to the news that their head coach, Chris Beard, had been arrested in Austin and jailed on a charge of assault of a family or household member, with impeding "breath circulation" part of the charge. He was still in custody as of mid-morning as he awaited an appearance before a judge. Texas issued a brief statement. "The university is aware of the situation regarding Chris Beard. We are continuing to gather information and monitor the legal process," it read. The athletic department did not immediately announce whether Beard would be on the sidelines, but it is unlikely. Associate head coach Rodney Terry has 10 years of head-coaching experience at Fresno State (2011-18) and at UTEP (2018-21). The team will have to switch focus to Rice on Monday.
12-12-22 | Sacred Heart -1.5 v. Stony Brook | Top | 64-71 | Loss | -110 | 7 h 37 m | Show |
Pioneers are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a losing straight-up record, while the Seawolves have failed to cover four straight games after a SU loss.
12-11-22 | New Mexico State +5 v. Duquesne | 73-60 | Win | 100 | 5 h 8 m | Show
NMSU is still winless on the road, but they threw together an admirable showing at Santa Clara. Marchelus Avery, Issa Muhammad, Anthony Roy and Mike Peake were all suspended against Santa Clara due to ongoing police investigations. Avery, Muhammad and Roy had a one game suspension and will be available against Duquesne. Peake (9 PPG in 20.5 Mins) remains suspended indefinitely. Shorthanded, the Aggies threw together an impressive performance and hot shooting from deep along with pesky defense kept them in the game.
12-11-22 | Oklahoma State +2.5 v. Virginia Tech | 65-70 | Loss | -110 | 3 h 12 m | Show
As a senior at Edmond Memorial in Oklahoma, Sean Pedulla's college decision came down to the school 50 minutes from his home -- Oklahoma State -- or Virginia Tech. Pedulla opted for Tech and hasn't looked back. The sophomore leads the Hokies in scoring (17.0 points per game) and assists (3.8) heading into a game he has circled on his calendar: Virginia Tech (9-1) takes on Oklahoma State (6-3) in the Hall of Fame Invitational on Sunday in Brooklyn, N.Y. Coming off four straight home victories, the Hokies could move into the Top 25 with a victory. Pedulla has keyed the rise, taking over as the primary ball handler for a team that ranks No. 5 in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio. Tech is in fine form. After wins over Minnesota and North Carolina, the Hokies dominated Dayton 77-49 on Wednesday behind Grant Basile (23 points, 10 rebounds) and Pedulla (19 points). They won easily even though Justyn Mutts got into early foul trouble against Dayton (he led the Hokies with 27 points three nights earlier against UNC) and didn't take a shot from the floor in playing just 22 minutes against Dayton. Yet Tech didn't miss a beat as it handed the Flyers their worst defeat in seven years. Oklahoma State is coming off a quality win, 65-51, Tuesday at home over Sam Houston, a team that owns victories over major-conference foes Oklahoma and Utah.
12-11-22 | Prairie View A&M v. Northwestern -16.5 | 51-61 | Loss | -110 | 3 h 4 m | Show
Offensive production has been hard to come by for Prairie View A&M this season, as they are currently ranked 252nd in college basketball at 69.5 points per game. A major reason for low scoring totals is the fact that that have played at a below average pace, and have struggled to knock down outside shots. As a team, the Panthers’ 3-point shooting percentage sits at just 34.7%, placing them 201st in the NCAA.
12-10-22 | Wolves +5.5 v. Blazers | 118-124 | Loss | -110 | 10 h 50 m | Show
Minnesota has won five straight games against Portland after the Trail Blazers prevailed in eight of the previous 10 meetings. The Timberwolves could be a bit fatigued after opening a five-game trip with a 118-108 victory over the Utah Jazz on Friday night. The contest marked center Rudy Gobert's first visit to Salt Lake City since Minnesota acquired him from the Jazz during the offseason. Gobert, a three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year, contributed 22 points and 13 rebounds and was warmly received by Utah fans. "We were starting a five-game road trip, and we really wanted to start the right way," Gobert said afterward. "And, of course, me coming back home to a place I spent nine years of my career, I really wanted to get this one." D'Angelo Russell scored 20 of his 30 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Timberwolves. Russell was 12 of 16 from the field overall and 6 of 9 from 3-point range.
12-10-22 | Monmouth +16.5 v. Princeton | 54-91 | Loss | -110 | 8 h 6 m | Show
Hawks are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600, while the Tigers have failed to cover seven straight home games.
12-10-22 | Grand Canyon +3.5 v. North Texas | 58-60 | Win | 100 | 6 h 47 m | Show
Antelopes are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games following an ATS loss and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 neutral site games. The Mean Green are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600
12-10-22 | Kansas v. Missouri +3.5 | 95-67 | Loss | -110 | 6 h 18 m | Show
After rolling to an 8-1 start with a busy early schedule, No. 6 Kansas caught its breath and got back to basics while practicing for its rivalry game at Missouri on Saturday. "So there's no reason why we shouldn't be rested before we play Mizzou," Kansas coach Bill Self said. "And there are some things we need to definitely work on. So hopefully we'll be more equipped to play a little bit better when we go out there." Self-promised to work on team defense ahead of this game. "If you could get a team to promise to not set one ball screen, our defense would be a lot better," Self quipped after Kansas defeated Seton Hall 91-65 on Dec. 1. "So that would be all you'd have to do." He also noted his team's struggles in defensive transition during the first half against Seton Hall. That is notable because Missouri (9-0) has shifted to a fast-paced style that has produced 93 points per game, the most in Division I. Kansas is averaging 77.7 points per game led by forward Jalen Wilson (21.9 points per game) and Gradey Dick (15.3). Self believes the Jayhawks could be even more explosive offensively with better passing.
12-10-22 | Eastern Washington v. South Dakota State -7.5 | 76-77 | Loss | -110 | 6 h 25 m | Show
Eagles are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400, while the Jackrabbits are 42-16-2 ATS in their last 60 games following an ATS loss
12-10-22 | San Jose State v. Santa Clara -8.5 | 75-64 | Loss | -110 | 5 h 22 m | Show
Santa Clara was at home in their last game beating New Mexico State 66-65 where they played well defensively and doubled up the Aggies in points from the free-throw line. The Broncos only shot 43.1% from the floor but held New Mexico State to 38.1% shooting and had 14 points from the charity stripe while the Aggies only had seven.
12-10-22 | Fresno State -4.5 v. Pacific | 72-76 | Loss | -110 | 5 h 11 m | Show
The Fresno State Bulldogs have been struggling, but they defeated the CSU Northridge Matadors at home 65-56 last time out. They played well in the second half as they outscored the Bulldogs 36-26. They shot the ball well from close throughout the game, finishing 20-of-45 (44.4 percent) overall, 8-of-26 (30.8 percent) from the three, and 23 free-throw attempts. Junior guard Donavan Yap led the team as in 23 minutes he finished with 17 points, two rebounds, two steals, and three turnovers. Defensively, they allowed 40.4 percent from the floor and 35 percent from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs finished with six steals and forced 15 turnovers throughout the game.
12-10-22 | Longwood v. Wichita State -8 | 63-81 | Win | 100 | 5 h 53 m | Show
Shockers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight-up loss. This number seems to be begging you to take the 8.5 but we're not falling for that.
12-10-22 | Denver v. UCLA -26 | 64-87 | Loss | -110 | 4 h 41 m | Show
No. 19 UCLA will be seeking its fifth straight victory when Denver visits Los Angeles on Saturday afternoon. The Pac-12's Bruins defeated Oregon 65-56 on Sunday before undergoing a week of final exams. Jaime Jaquez Jr., Jaylen Clark and Tyger Campbell lead the way for coach Mick Cronin and the Bruins (7-2, 2-0 Pac-12) . Jaquez is averaging a team-high 17.3 points while also grabbing 5.7 rebounds per game. Clark is contributing 14.0 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, and Campbell is chipping in with 13.9 points and 4.9 assists. Jaquez and Campbell, both seniors, are averaging nearly 31 minutes -- something Cronin admitted could be a concern against tough opponents.
12-10-22 | Evansville +10 v. Ball State | 69-88 | Loss | -110 | 2 h 26 m | Show
Ball State has been mired in mediocrity for a while now, but there are some encouraging signs that indicate they could be trending upward. They enter this one at 5-4, but that record could easily be a lot better if not for a bunch of close losses.
12-10-22 | Arkansas v. Oklahoma +4.5 | 88-78 | Loss | -115 | 3 h 31 m | Show
Despite adding a pair of wins to its ledger this week, No. 9 Arkansas suffered a harsh setback on Wednesday in the latter of its two non-conference home games. When coach Eric Musselman's squad returns to action Saturday afternoon against the Oklahoma Sooners in the Crimson and Cardinal Classic in Tulsa, Okla., it will do so without reserve big man Trevon Brazile. The 6-foot-10 Brazile, who poured in a career-high 23 points in Saturday's 99-58 blowout of San Jose State, tore his ACL in Wednesday's narrow 65-58 win over UNC Greensboro in a game that was close throughout. Averaging 11.8 points per game, leading the team in rebounds and blocked shots, and shooting 37.9 percent from behind the arc, the sophomore Brazile -- who transferred from Missouri -- will be lost for the remainder of the season. The Springfield, Mo., native had two double-doubles and topped the 20-point mark three times in his first season with Arkansas. That absence creates a big void in the paint for Musselman and the Razorbacks (8-1), who had to put together a second straight strong second half to beat visiting UNCG.
12-10-22 | Vermont v. Colgate -4.5 | 73-72 | Loss | -110 | 1 h 59 m | Show
Catamounts are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and just 4-9 ATS in their last 13 Saturday games. The Raiders are 15-5 ATS in their last 20 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400
12-09-22 | Fairleigh Dickinson v. Columbia +1.5 | 76-73 | Loss | -110 | 5 h 48 m | Show
The Lions are 2-3 in their last five games and have managed to cover the spread three times in those contests. In their most recent loss to the Retrievers, Kenny Noland scored 15 points and Avery Brown scored 13 points, while the rest of the unit struggled on offense. De La Rosa has led the Lions in points and steals averages this season. The Lions are averaging 69 points on 41.5% shooting while giving up 71.3 points on 44.4% shooting. They are restricting their opponents to 36.2% shooting from the three-point line and 67.3% shooting from the charity stripe. They are struggling to grab rebounds on either side of the court, which has become a problem for the Lions this season.
12-09-22 | Binghamton +14 v. Fordham | 62-77 | Loss | -110 | 5 h 40 m | Show
It's the Rams struggle on the defensive end that has been shying away from laying the points.
12-08-22 | Jacksonville State +16 v. Utah | 58-99 | Loss | -110 | 3 h 8 m | Show
The Jacksonville State Gamecocks have four wins and four losses this season. The wins have come against the Shorter Hawks (111-48), Elon Phoenix (78-53), North Dakota State Bison, and East Tennessee State Buccaneers (63-61). The team is scoring 74.8 points per game while conceding 71.1 points. Their three-point shooting is brilliant at 41.6% whereas the field goal percentage is 44.7. They'll have enough to stay within the number.
12-08-22 | Michigan v. Minnesota +4.5 | 90-75 | Loss | -110 | 2 h 12 m | Show
The Minnesota Golden Gophers were overwhelmed by one of the nation's premier college centers in their Big Ten opener. They'll face another one in their second conference game when they host Michigan in Minneapolis on Thursday. Purdue's Zach Edey racked up 31 points and 22 rebounds in the Boilermakers' 89-70 victory on Sunday, handing the Golden Gophers (4-4, 0-1 Big Ten) their third consecutive loss. "I don't think there's a team in the country that has an answer for him," Minnesota coach Ben Johnson said. "The problem is he puts so much foul pressure on you. We didn't get off to a good start but they do such a good job of getting him the ball that it's just a matter of time." Minnesota was down 42-27 at halftime, though it showed some signs of life in the second half by scoring 43 points. "I thought it was a better offensive effort than the last couple of games," Johnson said. "The ball was moving more than it had."
12-08-22 | Colorado State v. Colorado -4 | Top | 65-93 | Win | 100 | 2 h 1 m | Show |
Colorado will be counting on another strong performance from the team’s leading scorer KJ Simpson who is averaging 16.22 points per game for the Buffaloes. Simpson is also important to the team’s ability to score on the perimeter. So far, he leads the team in 3-point shots made. Also key to the Buffaloes’ offensive game plan is the play of Tristan Da Silva who has hit 48.3% of his field goal attempts on his way to averaging 12.0 points per game. Coming into today’s game, Colorado will be looking for some improved play from their offense. Currently, the Buffaloes are ranked 193rd at 71.2 points per game. A major reason for their low-scoring numbers is the fact that they tend to work the clock on offense.
12-07-22 | Pittsburgh v. Vanderbilt -3 | 74-75 | Loss | -110 | 2 h 60 m | Show
Vanderbilt comes off a 65-62 home win over Wofford. Seven-foot forward Liam Robbins led the Commodores with 14 points and nine rebounds. After playing just 26 combined minutes in season-opening home losses to Memphis and Southern Miss, Robbins has averaged 24.2 minutes and 15.0 points a game. Forward Myles Stute (12.6 ppg) leads the Commodores in scoring as well as 3-point field goals (26) and percentage (50.9%). Guard Tyrin Lawrence (10.8 ppg), Vandy's third-leading scorer, tallied 13 in the Wofford win and chipped in with two huge field goals in the game's final minutes. The Panthers (73.6% from the foul line) could have a significant edge over Vanderbilt (61.7%) if the game comes down to free throws). The Commodores could also use some good health, especially for guard/forward Jordan Wright, Vandy's leading returning scorer from last year.
12-07-22 | Arizona State v. SMU +5.5 | 75-57 | Loss | -115 | 2 h 56 m | Show
Arizona State looks to win its seventh consecutive game when it battles SMU in non-conference play on Wednesday night at Dallas. The Sun Devils (8-1, 2-0 Pac-12) are off to their best nine-game start since the 2018-19 season -- the last season they made the NCAA Tournament. They are fresh off opening conference play with wins over Colorado and Stanford by a total of five points -- 60-59 over the host Buffaloes on Thursday and 68-64 over the visiting Cardinal on Sunday. Arizona State coach Bobby Hurley said the team's depth is keeping players fresh, while forward Warren Washington points to Hurley's demanding tactics as a key component in the strong start. It appears like these are two teams going in opposite directions, but the end result will say otherwise.
12-07-22 | Ball State v. Eastern Illinois +11.5 | 76-59 | Loss | -110 | 1 h 4 m | Show
Cardinals are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS win and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 road games.
12-07-22 | Campbell v. Evansville +3.5 | 66-72 | Win | 100 | 1 h 50 m | Show
Fighting Camels are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games following an ATS loss and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
12-06-22 | Coastal Carolina +6.5 v. Wofford | 61-71 | Loss | -110 | 8 h 36 m | Show
Chanticleers are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 road games, while the Terriers are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 home games vs. a team with a losing road record
12-06-22 | Georgia +4.5 v. Georgia Tech | 77-79 | Win | 100 | 6 h 22 m | Show
Georgia will look to extend its winning streak to four games when it visits Georgia Tech on Tuesday in Atlanta. The Bulldogs (7-2) are coming off a 68-46 win over visiting Florida A&M on Friday, while Georgia Tech (5-3) pulled away for an 81-63 victory over Northeastern on Friday for its second win in its past five games. Georgia had four players out against the Rattlers -- Kario Oquendo (13.7 points per game, sore knee), Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe (5.0 ppg, right ankle), leading scorer Terry Roberts (14 ppg, illness) and center Frank Anselem (3.1 ppg, illness). "You're already searching offensively, and now you're searching at another level," first-year Georgia coach Mike White said, adding all four will be game-time decisions against the Yellow Jackets. "You've got to adapt, right? We told guys at shootaround, 'Hey, you all want more opportunity, (well) here it comes.'" Mardrez McBride responded by recording 15 points and nine rebounds, while Jabri Abdur-Rahim added 14 points and Braelen Bridges finished with 10 points and eight rebounds against the Rattlers. Georgia has already surpassed its win total from last year and is off to a strong start under White, who arrived after leading Florida for the previous seven seasons. He replaced Tom Crean, who was let go after the Bulldogs went 6-26 last season.
12-06-22 | Bucknell +6.5 v. La Salle | 72-82 | Loss | -110 | 6 h 13 m | Show
Although there isn't much reason to back the Bison, the Explorers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall and I can't lay the 6.5 until they right the ship.
12-05-22 | North Dakota State +15.5 v. Portland | Top | 67-62 | Win | 100 | 10 h 21 m | Show |
The North Dakota State Bison have been struggling and lost on the road 78-70 against the Eastern Washington Eagles. They did well as they scored 35 points in both halves of the game. They shot the ball well as they were 27-of-59 (45.8 percent) overall, 12-of-30 (40 percent) from the three, and just seven free-throw attempts.
12-05-22 | Suns v. Mavs -2.5 | 111-130 | Win | 100 | 9 h 44 m | Show
The Phoenix Suns have dominated regular-season play with Dallas over the past three-plus seasons, but overshadowing that success is their epic collapse against the Mavericks in last season's Western Conference semifinals. Dallas won the final two games of those semifinals by an average of 30 points to reach the Western Conference finals and send Phoenix home earlier than expected. But come Monday night in Dallas, the Suns will be looking to defeat the Mavericks for the second time this season and 11th in a row in the regular season. Phoenix rallied from a 22-point deficit to edge Dallas 107-105 on Oct. 19 in the season opener for both squads. The Western Conference-leading Suns are also the hotter team entering the latest matchup. Phoenix has won seven of its last eight games while the Mavericks have prevailed in just two of their last seven contests. The Suns started a two-game Texas road swing by pummeling the San Antonio Spurs 133-95 on Sunday. Deandre Ayton had 25 points and 10 rebounds and Mikal Bridges and Devin Booker scored 20 points apiece.
12-05-22 | 76ers v. Rockets +8.5 | 123-132 | Win | 100 | 8 h 12 m | Show
Prior to embarking on a three-game road trip that has thus far produced losses in Cleveland and Memphis, the Philadelphia 76ers appeared to have concocted a winning formula despite their rotation lacking the starting backcourt of James Harden and Tyrese Maxey. The 76ers had won seven of nine games before registering a 28-point loss to the Cavaliers and a 117-109 setback against the Grizzlies on Friday. Philadelphia will conclude the trip on Monday against the Houston Rockets, eyeing a return to the win column despite those who are missing. "I don't want to use that as an excuse. We've got to find a way to win," 76ers coach Doc Rivers said. "We know guys are out but I'm never going to give us that, I'm just not. I refuse to. "We definitely missed some ball-handling, you could see that. But we knew that (going in). We just have to deal with it." The 76ers fell to 8-6 without Harden (foot) but are optimistic that he could return against the Rockets, for whom he averaged 29.6 points and 7.7 assists over eight-plus seasons and 621 games. Harden has averaged 22 points, seven rebounds and 10 assists in nine games this season.
12-05-22 | Celtics v. Raptors -1 | 116-110 | Loss | -110 | 8 h 48 m | Show
The visiting Boston Celtics can expect to see the best version of the Raptors on Monday night since Toronto seemingly takes things to the next level when it plays at home. Toronto's 121-108 triumph over the Orlando Magic on Saturday extended the team's home winning streak to three games. The Raptors are 9-2 at home this season compared to 3-9 on the road. It was a much-needed victory for the Raptors, who got off to slow starts in their two games leading up to Saturday's matchup -- a blowout loss at New Orleans and a nine-point road setback against the Nets. Toronto shot a season-high 56.0 percent from the field (47-for-84) against Orlando. Toronto's O.G. Anunoby tied his season high by scoring 32 points against the Magic. Pascal Siakam added 26 points and 10 rebounds, and Scottie Barnes finished the game with 17 points and a season-high 14 rebounds. "We just wanted to regroup, be better," Barnes said. "It was a bad feeling in the locker room (following the Brooklyn loss Friday)."
12-04-22 | Northwestern +6.5 v. Michigan State | 70-63 | Win | 100 | 6 h 38 m | Show
Visiting Northwestern and No. 20 Michigan State figure to be more intense than usual when they open their respective Big Ten schedules against each other Sunday in East Lansing, Mich. That's because the Wildcats and Spartans are coming off their worst losses of the season, so they'll be in the mood for redemption. Northwestern comes in at 5-2 but has dropped two straight. A 43-42 loss on Nov. 23 to then-No. 15 Auburn was forgivable since it was against a ranked opponent on a neutral court in Cancun, Mexico. But an 87-58 home loss to unranked Pittsburgh on Monday was more embarrassing. The Wildcats were outscored 50-30 in the second half. "It was just disappointing," head coach Chris Collins said. "I didn't think we played very well. I'll always be the one where if a team beats us and we're in character and we're playing with incredible fire, determination and all those things, I'll be the first one to tip my cap. "I just didn't have that feeling (Monday). I don't know if it was coming off the trip we had or whatever. (There are) no excuses to be had. We weren't who we've been the first six games." One feature Northwestern has that many teams don't is a veteran backcourt. Seniors Chase Audige and Boo Buie are the team's leading scorers (Buie averages 12.9 points per game, Audige 12.4 ppg) and playmakers who have played in a lot of tough environments. Just like the Wildcats, Michigan State will try to respond after a lopsided loss.
12-04-22 | Lakers v. Wizards -2 | 130-119 | Loss | -110 | 4 h 56 m | Show
The recently resurgent Los Angeles Lakers look to stay hot away from home when they continue a five-game eastern trip Sunday, taking on a host Washington Wizards team trying to shake out of a funk. The Wizards lost for the fifth time in six games Friday when their fourth-quarter rally at Charlotte fell just short, 117-116. The Wizards stormed back from a 13-point deficit, outscoring the Hornets 18-6 over the final 8:19, but could not complete the comeback. "The biggest thing we learned is we just can't get in a hole like that," Bradley Beal said to the Washington Post following the loss. Beal scored 33 points but committed two costly turnovers in the closing stretch. "It's tough to climb out of those holes and close out games, too." The Wizards trailed by 15 points at halftime after a 38-28 second quarter. Washington surrendered 72 first-half points and, despite a big rally in the fourth quarter, could not overcome the initial deficit. As Washington looks to pull out of its recent swoon, the Lakers come in having won four of five, including their last three on the road. Friday night the Lakers started their trip in Milwaukee with a 133-129 victory over the Bucks.
12-04-22 | Bulls +3 v. Kings | 101-110 | Loss | -110 | 4 h 50 m | Show
Two teams headed east following the game hope to make the most of their last day in California when the Chicago Bulls visit the Sacramento Kings on Sunday afternoon. The Bulls will be looking to break even on a six-game trip that saw them win two of the first three before dropping the last couple at Phoenix and Golden State. They'll be seeking their first win at Sacramento in three years when they encounter a Kings club that has won two in a row, including a 123-96 romp on the road against the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday afternoon. The Bulls and Kings have not met previously this season. Chicago appeared on the verge of a surprising comeback at Golden State on Friday night when it held the Warriors without a point for 3 1/2 minutes, allowing the visitors to close an eight-point deficit to 110-109 after a Zach LaVine 3-pointer with 2:27 to play. Chicago's defense cracked down on the Warriors' next possession as well, but Draymond Green nailed a desperation 26-footer to save Golden State. Big man Nikola Vucevic wasn't buying talk of a moral victory afterward.
12-04-22 | George Washington v. Radford +1 | 76-86 | Win | 100 | 1 h 48 m | Show
Colonials are 9-19-1 ATS in their last 29 road games following three or more consecutive home games. The Highlanders are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS loss.
12-04-22 | Stetson v. Florida -18 | 51-89 | Win | 100 | 1 h 31 m | Show
The Gators are scoring 80.0 points per game, which ranks them 59th in the league, and are conceding 71.3 points, which ranks them 241. Their shooting from the perimeter is a solid 36.8% so far whereas the field goal percentage is at an impressive 47.0. The total number of offensive rebounds per game is 34.4 while 30.8 is defensive rebounds.
12-02-22 | Texas-Arlington +19 v. LSU | Top | 59-63 | Win | 100 | 10 h 27 m | Show |
LSU hasn't really played anyone tough this year, but they are 6-1 on the season, so they are winning games they should be winning, for the most part. They somehow are ranked No. 54 by KenPom, which I think is way inflated, considering they have played the 328th easiest non-conference schedule in the country. There are only 360 D1 schools. so LSU has played a really easy schedule. Their one loss was a 61-59 loss at Kansas State as a 2.5-point underdog.
12-02-22 | Kennesaw State +4.5 v. Mercer | Top | 66-63 | Win | 100 | 9 h 19 m | Show |
The Owls are led by fourth-year head coach Amir Abdur-Rahim. KSU was picked to finish eighth in the ASUN Conference coaches poll and sixth in the media poll. Kennesaw State is currently 4-3 with wins over LaGrange, Brewton-Parker, Southeastern Louisiana, and Appalachian State. The losses came against Florida, Campbell, and VCU. In the most recent game against VCU, the Owls led for 38 minutes before being outscored by the Rams 14-4 in the final five minutes.KSU returned all five of last year's starters, including Chris Youngblood who was named to the 2022-23 Preseason ASUN All-Conference Team. The Owls also brought in transfer guard Quincy Ademokoya from Temple who has been appearing off the bench so far this season.
12-01-22 | UCLA v. Stanford +7 | 80-66 | Loss | -110 | 7 h 14 m | Show
No. 21-ranked UCLA opens Pac-12 Conference play in search of its first win away from home this season on Thursday when it travels to face host Stanford at Palo Alto, Calif. The Bruins (5-2) rebounded from a pair of hard-fought losses Nov. 18 and 20 at Las Vegas against Illinois and Baylor, UCLA's only games away from Pauley Pavilion thus far in 2022-23. After coach Mick Cronin criticized the Bruins' defense in the Las Vegas defeats, UCLA responded with inspired defensive performance in blowouts of Pepperdine and Bellarmine. Despite the 2-0 week, UCLA dropped two spots in the rankings. The Bruins held Pepperdine to just 21-of-60 shooting (35 percent) from the floor in a 100-53 rout Nov. 23, then followed it up by forcing 20 turnovers in Sunday's 81-60 defeat of Bellarmine. Jaime Jaquez Jr. contributed to the inspired defensive play against Bellarmine, highlighting his best all-around performance of the season with four steals to complement a season-high 27 points.
12-01-22 | Utah Tech +19 v. Utah State | 81-86 | Win | 100 | 6 h 56 m | Show
Trailblazers are 9-3-1 ATS in their last 13 games following a ATS win and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall. Don't let the name fool you.
12-01-22 | Youngstown State v. Northern Kentucky +1.5 | 73-77 | Win | 100 | 4 h 53 m | Show
Northern Kentucky has been a question mark all season long. I say that to say you never know what team you are going to get on any given night. The Norse have had some tough losses, but their season is highlighted by beating a top 100 Kenpom-rated team in Cincinnati (#73). The Norse are coming off a win over Tennessee Tech and are looking to build on that momentum.
12-01-22 | Robert Morris +12.5 v. Wright State | 80-59 | Win | 100 | 4 h 48 m | Show
Colonials are 10-3-1 ATS in their last 14 games following a straight up loss are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record
12-01-22 | Oklahoma State +9.5 v. Connecticut | 64-74 | Loss | -110 | 4 h 32 m | Show
If history does in fact repeat itself, No. 8 UConn will feel pretty good about its long-term goals for the season -- provided it can pick up a win against Oklahoma State on Thursday in Storrs, Conn. The Huskies (8-0) will bid for their ninth consecutive win to open the campaign on Thursday. The last UConn team to accomplish that feat -- the 2013-14 squad -- just so happened to be crowned the national champion when was all said and done. While a potential run that extends past March is still a long way away, the Huskies already have added some hardware to the trophy case after posting a 71-53 win over Iowa State on Sunday to win the Phil Knight Invitational. Donovan Clingan led the way with 15 points and 10 rebounds in 18 minutes off the bench. Tristen Newton added 13 points, while Alex Karaban and Andre Jackson Jr. each supplied 10. Leading scorer Adama Sanogo was held to just four points on 1-of-5 shooting from the floor while dealing with foul trouble
11-30-22 | Raptors v. Pelicans +2.5 | 108-126 | Win | 100 | 7 h 7 m | Show
The Toronto Raptors finally got Pascal Siakam back. The New Orleans Pelicans will have to wait a little longer for Brandon Ingram's return as they host the Raptors on Wednesday night. Siakam returned from a 10-game absence due to a strained right adductor to score 18 points and grab 11 rebounds in Toronto's 100-88 home victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday. "He was really good," Raptors coach Nick Nurse said of Siakam. "Looked really like he hadn't missed a beat." Toronto did decent during the absence of its leading scorer, splitting the 10 games. Against Cleveland, O.G. Anunoby added 20 points, Gary Trent Jr. scored 14, Fred VanVleet had 13 and Scottie Barnes 11. Siakam made 7 of 14 field goals, including 1 of 3 3-pointers.
11-30-22 | Heat +9.5 v. Celtics | 121-134 | Loss | -115 | 7 h 40 m | Show
The Boston Celtics can stretch their home winning streak to 10 games when they meet the Miami Heat on Wednesday night. Despite being without injured guard Jaylen Brown (neck stiffness) and center Al Horford (back), the Celtics turned in what may have been their best offensive performance of the season when they beat the depleted Charlotte Hornets 140-105 on Monday night. Charlotte was missing five players because of injuries. Jayson Tatum scored a game-high 35 points for the Celtics, who received 22 points and a career-high 15 assists from point guard Marcus Smart. Teammate Malcolm Brogdon added 21 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field in nearly 23 minutes of playing time. "This is a treat," Brogdon said. "I think for any NBA player, whether you ask Marcus Smart, Tatum, Brown, anybody. It's a treat playing on a team like this. "I remind the guys of that when times get tough because there's always going to be times during the season where there are lulls, guys getting a little unhappy. It's just the nature of the business. But for me and Blake (Celtics forward Griffin), we've been in situations where a team is not winning, where the team is really struggling and there's chaos. So definitely I try to encourage the guys to be appreciative of what they have here." This will be the second meeting of the season between the teams that met in last season's Eastern Conference finals, won in seven games by the Celtics. Boston recorded a 111-104 road win over the Heat on Oct. 21 behind 29 points from Tatum and 28 from Brown.
11-30-22 | South Alabama v. Florida Atlantic -5.5 | 59-84 | Win | 100 | 7 h 51 m | Show
Florida Atlantic has enjoyed the start of its season, which includes an upset win over the Florida Gators, the program's first-ever win against their in-state rivals. On Nov. 26 they secured their fifth win in a 73-56 triumph over the Albany Great Danes. The Owls held the Great Danes to 34.5% shooting from the field and outrebounded them 42-32. The stifling defense from Florida Atlantic comes as no surprise, they're ranked in the top 10 of opponents' two-point percentage (40.4%) and in the top 35 of opponents' effective field goal percentage (43.5). While not as elite as South Alabama, they're also good about not giving possessions away, ranked 54th in turnover percentage at 13.9%.
11-30-22 | Akron v. Marshall -4 | 57-68 | Win | 100 | 7 h 47 m | Show
The Southern Miss Golden Eagles are the only team with a better record than Marshall in the Sun Belt Conference so far this season. They have seemingly turned the corner after finishing last in their group in the Conference USA last year. Marshall was able to beat Morehead State by a score of 83-59. Five players earned at least ten points on the night with Andrew Taylor getting a team-high 19 points. Taevion Kinsey got 15 points in the effort, but he was also the fourth player in school history to reach 2,000 career points. Micah Handlogten grabbed 14 rebounds and scored 14 points in the effort.
11-29-22 | Clippers +4 v. Blazers | Top | 118-112 | Win | 100 | 7 h 58 m | Show |
With Kawhi Leonard and Paul George both ailing, Ivica Zubac took a whirl at being a star attraction and it was one for the memory books. The 25-year-old Zubac will try to follow up the best performance of his career when the Los Angeles Clippers visit the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday night. Zubac played like a man possessed Sunday during a 114-100 home victory over the Indiana Pacers as he scored 31 points and collected a career-best 29 rebounds. The 7-foot Zubac was one board short of having the third 30-point, 30-rebound outing in the NBA in 40 years. Michael Cage was the last Clippers player to grab 30 rebounds in a game, doing so on April 24, 1988, against the Seattle SuperSonics. The only downer for Zubac was fouling out with 3:40 remaining. "I was mad at myself because I wanted to get that 30 and 30 so bad. It hurts," Zubac said afterward. "It's definitely not as happy as I should be. "I was just mad at myself for going for (the blocked shot), but I just can't help myself. Every time I see someone trying to get away, I try to block it." While legendary Wilt Chamberlain used to routinely post 30-30 games during his career, Zubac fell just short of joining Dwight Howard (2018) and Kevin Love (2010) as the only players to do it since Moses Malone in 1982.
11-29-22 | Warriors v. Mavs +2 | 113-116 | Win | 100 | 4 h 25 m | Show
Seeing the Golden State Warriors might be the inspiration the Dallas Mavericks need to end a four-game losing streak when last year's Western Conference finalists meet for the first time this season on Tuesday night in Dallas. The Mavericks weren't convinced the better team had won after the Warriors took advantage of a cold-shooting Dallas squad to claim a berth in the 2022 NBA Finals with a 4-1 triumph. Golden State outshot the Mavericks 51.8% to 43.7% from the field, allowing the Warriors to overcome nine more turnovers and 14 fewer free-throw points in the series. Since they last met in June, the Mavericks have made the most significant transaction, replacing steady guard Jalen Brunson (lost to the New York Knicks in free agency) with talented big man Christian Wood, who came over from Houston. Wood is tied for second on the team in scoring (17.1) and second in rebounds (7.6) while shooting 56.6 percent overall and 43.9 percent on 3-pointers. Wood had 21 points in Sunday's 124-115 loss at Milwaukee and put up a 26-point, 12-rebound double-double in a defeat four nights earlier at Boston at the start of the Mavericks' three-game trip. Those losses don't sting as much as earlier defeats at the hands of a five-win Houston Rockets club and a Denver Nuggets team missing Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon.
11-29-22 | Knicks v. Pistons +5 | Top | 140-110 | Loss | -110 | 4 h 1 m | Show |
The New York Knicks have reached the 20-game mark and they're not close to living up to their expectations. New York has wallowed in mediocrity, unable to put together a solid stretch of performances. The Knicks have lost four of their last five, dropping to 9-11 as they make a quick visit to Detroit to face the Pistons on Tuesday. "Lot of work to do," Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau said. "Just keep concentrating on getting better, improving, and get ready for the next one. Don't look backward, don't look ahead, just look at exactly what's in front of us. That's where I want us to be." The last two losses, both at home, have been particularly excruciating. They lost to Portland 132-129 in overtime, then fell to Memphis 127-123. Jalen Brunson, the pricey free agent signed to get New York back into the postseason, missed two shots in the lane during the closing seconds against Memphis. Those misses came after Grizzlies star guard Ja Morant gave his team the lead with a putback.
11-29-22 | Charlotte +4.5 v. Davidson | Top | 68-66 | Win | 100 | 4 h 17 m | Show |
The Charlotte 49ers live and die on the defensive end of the court as Charlotte is allowing an average of only 55.0 points per game which is the 11th best in the nation. Charlotte is allowing a field goal shooting percentage of 39.5% and a three-point shooting percentage of 35.6%. The 49ers are averaging 32.1 rebounds per game led by Aly Khalifa with an average of 7.0 boards per contest. Charlotte's defense averages 7.6 steals and 2.9 blocked shots per contest.
11-29-22 | Jackson State +5 v. Miami-OH | Top | 78-95 | Loss | -110 | 4 h 9 m | Show |
Tigers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight-up loss of more than 20 points, while the RedHawks are 4-11 ATS in their last 15 home games
11-28-22 | Rockets v. Nuggets -11 | 113-129 | Win | 100 | 6 h 42 m | Show
Injuries and illness created an opportunity for Vlatko Cancar to show he can make a valuable contribution to the Denver Nuggets. After three years of mop-up minutes, he is showing he belongs in the rotation. Cancar played a total of 25 minutes through the first month of the season, but with several players missing he has been pushed into service. He is averaging 23.4 minutes over the last four games and has made key contributions on both offense and defense. He'll get more quality time when Denver hosts Houston on Monday night in the first of two home games against the Rockets. Michael Porter Jr. (heel) and Jeff Green (knee) are not expected to play. Cancar's expanded role started at Dallas on Nov. 18 when the Nuggets were without Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon. Denver lost that game by 28 points but beat the Mavericks two nights later, and a big reason was Cancar's halfcourt heave that ended the second quarter. In the last two games he has played 60 minutes, averaging 16 points while playing strong defense. He had three blocks in an overtime win at Oklahoma City on Wednesday and was disruptive in a win against the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday.
11-28-22 | Louisiana-Monroe +18.5 v. Tulane | 60-75 | Win | 100 | 6 h 55 m | Show
Louisiana Monroe returns five players who have starting experience but also welcomes eight newcomers, including five transfers. The new players will be asked to invigorate a lineup that couldn't close out games last season. "Over the last couple of years, we've been competitive," ULM coach Keith Richard said. "We've been in almost all the games. In many games we led by six with eight minutes to go, and up four with four minutes to go. In some of those games, we just couldn't hang on. Whether it's the offensive end or the defensive end, we just haven't been a very strong team... I think these newcomers are the answer for us as far as how much better we can be." The new players include 6-10 center Victor Bafutto (Mercer transfer), guard Jamari Blackmon (North Alabama transfer), 6-11 forward AD Diedhiou (UAB transfer), guard Devon Hancock (Milwaukee transfer), and guard Tyreke Locure (UAB transfer). Locus is leading the squad in scoring (13.0 PPG), Blackmon is averaging 10.7 points on 53.2 percent shooting, and Bafutto is contributing 7.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per contest. Junior forward Nika Metskhvarishvili (9.8 PPG and 5.8 RPG) and sophomore forward Thomas Howell (8.6 PPG and 6.6 RPG) are two returning starters making key contributions.
11-28-22 | Dartmouth +2.5 v. Grambling State | 49-73 | Loss | -110 | 3 h 45 m | Show
Junior forward Dusan Neskovic leads the team in scoring and has reached double-digit scoring in four of five games prior to Sunday's game. His best game was a 23-point performance in the season-opener at Fordham. He added six rebounds and two assists in that game. For the season, he is averaging 13.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. He has been red hot from the floor, connecting on 56.5% of his field goals, including 53.3% from the 3-point range.
11-27-22 | Mavs +6.5 v. Bucks | Top | 115-124 | Loss | -105 | 9 h 17 m | Show |
Two of the NBA's top MVP candidates will meet when the Dallas Mavericks conclude their three-game trip on Sunday night against the Milwaukee Bucks. Dallas has lost three straight despite the play of star Luka Doncic, who leads the league in scoring at 33.4 points per game while averaging 8.9 rebounds and 8.2 assists. Milwaukee, again, is led by Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is averaging 31 points, 11.4 rebounds, and 5.5 assists. Antetokounmpo scored 38 points in the Bucks' 117-102 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday. Milwaukee trailed by as many as 16 points in the first half before going on a 23-2 run to begin the third quarter. "They turned it up to a level that we haven't seen, that we haven't experienced," said Cleveland star Donovan Mitchell. Jevon Carter scored 18 points and Bobby Portis Jr. had 14 for Milwaukee, which improved to 10-2 at home with the victory. The Bucks offered a reminder of their defensive potential in the dominant third quarter when they outscored the overwhelmed Cavaliers 35-10.
11-27-22 | Grizzlies v. Knicks +2.5 | Top | 127-123 | Loss | -110 | 7 h 23 m | Show |
For the New York Knicks, home is not where their defense is. But Madison Square Garden is where the high-powered Memphis Grizzlies will be Sunday night when the Knicks are slated to close out a two-game homestand by hosting the Grizzlies. Both teams were off Saturday after playing at home Friday. The Knicks squandered a 14-point first-half lead and fell to the Portland Trail Blazers, 132-129, in overtime. The Grizzlies never trailed in a 132-111 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans. The Knicks opened their home schedule with a pair of strong defensive efforts in a 130-106 win over the Detroit Pistons and a 115-102 victory over the Orlando Magic. But New York has given up at least 130 points in four of its last six home games after surrendering at least 130 points just three times -- anywhere -- in the first two seasons under defensive-minded head coach Tom Thibodeau. The loss Friday was particularly discouraging for the Knicks, who didn't have to face Trail Blazers superstar guard Damian Lillard (right calf strain) but were victimized instead by the trio of Jerami Grant, Anfernee Simons and Josh Hart.
11-27-22 | Hofstra v. Quinnipiac +3.5 | 72-70 | Win | 100 | 5 h 34 m | Show
The Pride is 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games overall and are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games following a straight-up win.
11-27-22 | North Carolina +1 v. Alabama | 101-103 | Loss | -105 | 4 h 17 m | Show
Top-ranked North Carolina began this weekend by squeaking past Portland and losing to Iowa State in its first encounter with a tough defense. Meanwhile, No. 18 Alabama began the weekend by defending well enough to get past Michigan State before being unable to stop the size of 20th-ranked UConn, falling 82-67. Friday's rough showings resulted in both schools taking their first loss and the Tar Heels and Crimson Tide are hoping to avoid a second defeat Sunday when they oppose each other in the third-place game of the Phil Knight Invitational in Portland, Ore. "If we lose to North Carolina, which is obviously very possible -- they're the No. 1 team in the country -- you leave out of here 1-2 and you're not feeling very good about yourself after the win over Michigan State and you're on a two-game losing streak," Alabama coach Nate Oats said.
11-27-22 | Blazers v. Nets -8.5 | 97-111 | Win | 100 | 4 h 21 m | Show
The Nets are starting a season-high seven-game homestand after following up a 112-98 win in Toronto with a 128-117 loss at Indiana on Friday. Brooklyn is returning home through Dec. 9 after getting outscored 40-23 in the fourth quarter by the Pacers. The Nets entered the final 12 minutes holding a six-point lead but allowed Indiana to shoot 63 percent (12 of 19) and make 12 of 16 free throws to pull away. Kevin Durant scored 20 of his 36 points in the fourth quarter while Ben Simmons and Kyrie Irving, who each scored 20 points combined for three points in the fourth. "It's pretty frustrating," said Simmons, who is averaging 15.5 points in his past six contests. "You've gotta take that next step. It's easy for us to lock in for that first half, three quarters, whatever it is. We've got to learn how to do that the whole game, from the first to the last guy." The Nets are attempting to sweep the season series for the first time since 2012-13. Brooklyn rallied from an 11-point deficit for a 109-107 win in Portland on Nov. 17 when Royce O'Neal hit a putback in the final seconds.
11-27-22 | Drexel v. Temple -8 | 61-73 | Win | 100 | 3 h 52 m | Show
Temple is allowing 72.3 points per game and opponents are hitting shots at a rate of 45.6%. Despite not forcing many turnovers, the Owls have great perimeter defense. They are only allowing 16.3 3-point attempts per game and opponents are only knocking down 4.8, shooting less than 30%. Temple is also giving you a defense that simply doesn't commit too many fouls. Over the last four games, Temple's opponents are going to the line about 26% of the time. One of those games included Temple committing several late-game fouls. If we neglect the late-game free throws, that free throw rate drops down to about 20%.
11-27-22 | UC-Davis v. SE Missouri State +4.5 | 73-71 | Win | 100 | 2 h 56 m | Show
The Redhawks are 9-1-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall and are 10-3 ATS in their last 13 neutral site games.
11-26-22 | Jazz +7.5 v. Suns | Top | 112-113 | Win | 100 | 10 h 9 m | Show |
The Utah Jazz snapped a three-game losing streak eight days ago when they edged the Suns in Salt Lake City. The Jazz, losers of six of their past eight games, will hope for the same positive result Saturday night in Phoenix as they find themselves in the midst of another three-game streak. This much is true: Utah will need to shoot a lot better to beat the Suns than it did while losing at Golden State 129-118 on Friday night, following losses to Detroit and the Los Angeles Clippers. Against the Warriors, the Jazz only made 11 of 45 3-pointers. "For the most part, I felt we played the way we wanted to play," Jazz coach Will Hardy said. "When you shoot 25 percent from 3, it puts a lot of pressure on you." Golden State jumped to a 37-23 lead in the first quarter, but the Jazz overcame the early deficit. Sustaining that momentum proved too difficult, however. Utah briefly took a one-point lead in the third quarter, but Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and company made the visitors pay for their off-night from 3-point range.
11-26-22 | Lakers v. Spurs +3 | Top | 143-138 | Loss | -108 | 9 h 15 m | Show |
The Los Angeles Lakers will look to sweep a two-games-in-two-night series against the reeling San Antonio Spurs when the teams square off Saturday night in the Alamo City. It will be the third game between the teams over a seven-day stretch, with Los Angeles capturing the first two. The Lakers, buoyed by the continued dominating play of Anthony Davis and the return of LeBron James, did enough to beat San Antonio 105-94 on Friday in the first game of the two-game set. It was the Lakers' first road win of the year after six losses. Davis had 25 points and 15 rebounds in Friday's win, scoring 11 points in the fourth quarter after the Spurs clawed their way back into the game with a rousing third period. James was a force after being out with an adductor strain since Nov. 9, scoring 21 points. He also had nine of the Lakers' 21 turnovers.
11-25-22 | Kings +8 v. Celtics | 104-122 | Loss | -110 | 9 h 13 m | Show
The NBA's two winningest teams in November match up Friday night when the Sacramento Kings visit the Boston Celtics. Nobody has won more often than the Celtics this month, who are 10-2 even after losing their first November game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Boston had a nine-game winning streak snapped Monday at Chicago but rebounded to thump the Dallas Mavericks 125-112 on Wednesday. The Kings are coming off a 115-106 loss at Atlanta on Wednesday that ended a seven-game winning run. They're now 8-3 in November, tied with the Los Angeles Clippers for the second-most wins this month but having played one fewer game. The matchup delivers Kings coach Mike Brown to the site of his championship-clinching win over the Celtics last June as Steve Kerr's assistant with Golden State. The return does not have pleasant memories for most Kings, however, as they were steamrolled by Jayson Tatum (36 points) and Jaylen Brown (30) in a 128-75 shellacking last January. Tatum and Brown also ganged up on the Mavericks this week, with Tatum pouring in 37 points as part of a double-double with 13 rebounds, while Brown knocked down 13 of his 18 shots en route to 31 points. The Kings can expect to see a different look from the Celtics than what they displayed during much of their November run after Derrick White's return to the starting lineup Wednesday. Grant Williams went back to the bench.
11-25-22 | Wizards +3.5 v. Heat | 107-110 | Win | 100 | 9 h 3 m | Show
Point guard Kyle Lowry, who played 63 of the Miami Heat's 82 games last season and appeared in just 46 of the Toronto Raptors' contests in a year prior, is suddenly an iron man. At age 36. With the Heat missing several of their top players at various points throughout the first 19 games, Lowry has logged more minutes on the young season than any other player not named Kevin Durant. Lowry, who has yet to miss a single game, is expected to be the Heat's guiding force once again on Friday night when they host the Washington Wizards. Miami beat Washington 113-105 on Wednesday. Lowry scored a season-high 28 points in 35 minutes in that game, while going 7 for 12 from the field, which included sinking 5 of 6 3-pointers. He was also a perfect 9 for 9 from the free-throw line. The Heat played without leading scorer Jimmy Butler (sore right knee), starter Max Strus (right shoulder impingement) and key reserve Duncan Robinson (sprained left ankle).
11-25-22 | Blazers +3.5 v. Knicks | 132-129 | Win | 100 | 9 h 47 m | Show
The New York Knicks ventured out West to build their most successful road trip in more than eight years. But the tests against teams from the opposite coast will continue during the Knicks' brief stop home. The Knicks will begin a two-game homestand Friday night when they host the Portland Trail Blazers in the first meeting this season between the teams. The Knicks have been off since Monday when they concluded a five-game road trip by beating the Oklahoma City Thunder 129-119. The Trail Blazers' slump continued Wednesday when they fell to the host Cleveland Cavaliers 114-96. The win over the Thunder gave the Knicks a 3-2 record on their Western Conference trek. It was the most successful road trip of five games or longer for New York since it went 3-2 on a West Coast swing in March of 2014. The victory provided a double dose of redemption for the Knicks, who were still steaming from a 145-135 loss to the Thunder at home on Nov. 13. The 145 points were the most surrendered by the Knicks under head coach Tom Thibodeau
11-24-22 | Manhattan +4.5 v. Northeastern | Top | 67-69 | Win | 100 | 1 h 50 m | Show |
The Huskies are now 0-4 while the Jaspers sit at 1-2. A pair of stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Northeastern is the 21st worst in college basketball in takeaways, with only 10.8 on average. Manhattan has experienced some struggles of its own as they are stumbling into the matchup with the 358th most turnovers per game in college basketball, having accrued 19 on average.
11-23-22 | Clippers +9 v. Warriors | Top | 107-124 | Loss | -110 | 15 h 40 m | Show |
Golden State Warriors fans hope to see the Klay Thompson they witnessed on television last week when the defending champions open a three-day, two-game homestand with their first matchup of the season against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night. The Pacific Division rivals both were missing key players in their last outing and came away with different results. The Clippers were without Paul George (strained right hamstring) and Luke Kennard (strained right calf) when they completed a 3-0 homestand with a 121-114 victory over the Utah Jazz on Monday night. Norman Powell and Reggie Jackson led the way with 30 and 27 points, respectively. The Clippers also got eight points and five assists from Kawhi Leonard in just his third game since returning from nearly a month-long absence due to soreness in his surgically repaired right knee. The five-time All-Star has played no more than 25 minutes in any game during his comeback and has averaged just 8.3 points and 4.3 assists in the last three games. Despite regular lineup shuffling, the Clippers have counted upon depth to get the season off to a winning start.
11-23-22 | Pistons v. Jazz -11 | 125-116 | Loss | -110 | 14 h 48 m | Show
The Utah Jazz front office's decision to trade All-Stars Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert in exchange for a boatload of first-round picks caused a whirlwind of reactions and emotions this offseason around NBA circles and especially in the Beehive State. The rebuilding franchise made another deal, an under-the-radar move in comparison, that stung just as much for Jazz fans. Watching Bojan Bogdanovic, a fan favorite, get traded to Detroit was a tough one for many to swallow. A night after scoring 22 points with nine rebounds to lead the Pistons to a thrilling 110-108 win at Denver, Bogdanovic will undoubtedly receive a warm welcome Wednesday night in Salt Lake City when he and his new team visit. It'll be his first trip to Utah since being sent to Motown in exchange for Kelly Olynyk, Saben Lee, and cash considerations. Bogdanovic averaged 18.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.9 assists during his three seasons with the Jazz. He shot 44.7 percent from the field and 39.7 percent from 3-point territory and had many memorable moments that will live in Utah lore, including game-winning buzzer-beaters against the Milwaukee Bucks and Houston Rockets.
11-23-22 | Pelicans v. Spurs +7.5 | Top | 129-110 | Loss | -105 | 13 h 43 m | Show |
The Spurs will head home after a disastrous five-game trip in which they lost in San Francisco, Portland, Sacramento and in Los Angeles twice, with the average margin of defeat 23 points per game. The closest game on the trip was a 117-110 loss to the Trail Blazers. That was the only game of the five that San Antonio had all of its regular starters available. The Spurs' most recent setback was a 123-92 loss Sunday to the Lakers, who won easily despite playing without injured LeBron James. San Antonio was down by 18 at the half and then missed its first 11 shots of the third quarter to put to rest any notion of getting back in the game. Devin Vassell led San Antonio with 17 points, with Keldon Johnson and Jeremy Sochan scoring 12 each, and Tre Jones and Josh Richardson adding 10 apiece. San Antonio, which has dropped 10 of their past 11 contests, played without Jakob Poeltl, who had been its leading scorer in two of its past three games. "We have a young team. Winning is hard in the NBA," said Gorgui Dieng, who started in Poeltl's spot. "They're learning. Whether you win or lose, just make sure you have the right habits. Tonight was a very bad game for us." Spurs coach Gregg Popovich also missed the game after falling ill beforehand. Assistant coach Brett Brown ran the team in his absence. "The end of a long road trip, five games in seven nights, is always going to be difficult," Brown said after Sunday's loss. "We're better than we played (Sunday). They have competed at a far greater level than they did tonight. We will respond. They're a prideful group." Wednesday's game will mark the first contest in a three-game homestand for San Antonio. Nine of the Spurs' next 11 contests will be at home.
11-23-22 | Wizards +1.5 v. Heat | Top | 105-113 | Loss | -110 | 12 h 22 m | Show |
The Washington Wizards have enjoyed a reversal of fortune by walking away with six wins in their last seven games, but seeing their star limp off the court is cause for concern. The Wizards begin a back-to-back series of games at the Miami Heat on Wednesday with Bradley Beal's availability in limbo due to a right quadriceps injury. "He'll be evaluated and then we will make a determination," Washington coach Wes Unseld Jr. said. Beal sustained the injury during the final minute of the Wizards' 106-102 victory over the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday. He finished the game with 26 points, one shy of his total in Washington's 107-106 overtime win over an undermanned Miami squad on Friday. Beal has missed five of his team's 17 games this season due to a stint in health and safety protocol following a positive test for COVID-19. He boasts team-leading averages in points (22.7) and assists (5.8) points while shooting a robust 51.2 percent from the floor. Kyle Kuzma recorded his fifth double-double of the season after collecting 28 points and 10 rebounds against the Hornets. He had 21 points, eight rebounds and five assists in the previous encounter versus the Heat.
11-23-22 | Louisville +9 v. Cincinnati | 62-81 | Loss | -110 | 5 h 33 m | Show
The Louisville Cardinals had a brutal game offensively last time out as they were only able to score 38 points on 11-of-49 (22.4 percent) from the floor and 3-of-18 (16.7 percent) from beyond the arc. They passed the ball decently well as they had just five assists on 11 field goal attempts. Junior forward Jae’lyn Withers finished the game with 26 minutes played and had seven points and five rebounds.
11-23-22 | Wolves v. Pacers | Top | 115-101 | Win | 100 | 12 h 45 m | Show |
Minnesota brings a four-game winning streak into Indiana. The Timberwolves' run has combined improved offensive efficiency, with Minnesota producing two of its four highest-scoring games of the season in the streak's first two outings, and tough defense. The Timberwolves have held each of their past three opponents to less than 110 points, including limiting Miami to 101 in a four-point Minnesota win on Monday. The Heat's 101 points were the fewest the Timberwolves have surrendered in a game this season. Anthony Edwards told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune that Monday was a "tough game, ugly game," but added, "It was a great win and a great team win." Monday was the lone home-game interlude for Minnesota in a stretch playing six of seven games on the road. Wednesday's visit to Indiana marks the penultimate road contest in this span, with a Friday trip to Charlotte as the last game before the Timberwolves play four of five at home. |
