11-05-21 | Spurs -3.5 v. Magic | Top | 102-89 | Win | 100 | 15 h 26 m | Show |
San Antonio will be looking to stop another losing streak when it travels to Orlando on Friday night. The Spurs are on their second losing skid of the young season, having lost six of their first eight games. Orlando has been even worse, dropping seven of its first nine games to open the season. San Antonio picked up a 123-97 victory when these teams met in their season opener on Oct. 20.
11-04-21 | Celtics v. Heat -7 | Top | 95-78 | Loss | -106 | 15 h 28 m | Show |
Miami will look to Tyler Herro to continue scoring off the bench. The 21-year old seems to have the hot hand after recording his third consecutive 20+ point outing in the Heat's most recent game. Doing an absolute number on the second unit of most teams. Herro is making a strong case as a candidate for the Most Improved Player award early in the season. The Miami Heat may also see some significant minutes from Dewayne Dedmon and Markieff Morris to support their superstar big man.
11-03-21 | Blazers -3.5 v. Cavs | Top | 104-107 | Loss | -110 | 13 h 35 m | Show |
The Cavaliers won’t pose the same challenges that Philadelphia and Charlotte have on this trip. They have two of the best offenses in basketball. Cleveland, on the other hand, sits at 20th in the NBA in offensive rating (104.5) and 22nd in true shooting percentage (53.6%), and they will be without Kevin Love.
10-31-21 | Jazz v. Bucks +1 | Top | 107-95 | Loss | -100 | 15 h 44 m | Show |
Giannis Antetokounmpo has continued his torrid pace after hoisting the NBA title last season. The Greek Legend is averaging 27.6 points, 11 rebounds, and an impressive 6.6 dimes so far this season. He had a phenomenal game vs. the T-Wolves with 40 points, 16 rebounds, seven assists, three blocks, and three triples two days ago. It's the fourth time Antetokounmpo has recorded at least 40 points, 15 boards, and five assists in a game, tying him with Larry Bird for the second-most such games -- Russell Westbrook has the most with five.
10-30-21 | Magic v. Pistons -5 | Top | 103-110 | Win | 100 | 14 h 28 m | Show |
The rebuilding Magic come into this matchup losing four of their first five games to start the season. They’ve been struggling immensely on the defensive end, which was expected with their young backcourt. They currently rank last in the NBA in defensive and net rating through five games. Rookie Jalen Suggs, who had eight points and five assists against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday, is shooting 29% (18 for 63) after five games. It’s going to take the rookie some time learning the ropes at the point guard position, which is always a long curve for new players. Forward Chuma Okeke (hip), G Michael Carter-Williams (ankle), and G E'Twaun Moore (knee) have yet to play in the regular season, though none of the injuries is considered long-term. Getting healthy and rebuilding their core is key for them this season and in the coming years.
10-29-21 | Clippers v. Blazers -2.5 | Top | 92-111 | Win | 100 | 18 h 21 m | Show |
At some point this season the Portland Trail Blazers will put together back-to-back strong performances and win consecutive games. No better time than the present given that the LA Clippers come to town for a Friday night game just a few days after handing the Blazers an embarrassing 116-86 loss Monday in California. Two nights later, the Blazers won 116-96 over Memphis (2-2). That’s a 50-point swing from the loss to the Clippers to the win over the Grizzlies. As for the Clippers, they followed up their performance against the Blazers by losing 92-79 at home to Cleveland (3-2). Blazers get revenge
10-28-21 | Jazz -9 v. Rockets | Top | 122-91 | Win | 100 | 16 h 59 m | Show |
The Utah Jazz has regained their dominance in the league. So far, they’ve won all three of their games by an average of 14 points. Their biggest win came in last game against the Denver Nuggets. Nikola Jokic, the reigning MVP, had an injury scare in the first half and did not play in the second. After coach Mike Malone advised his talisman to leave the court, this happened. The game featured 30 lead changes and 12 ties, but the Jazz ultimately won. Rudy Gobert is averaging 18.7 points and a ridiculous 19 rebounds per game thus far, but his block average is only 0.7 per game. Jordan Clarkson is proving his worth as the league’s best bench player, averaging 17.3 points on a 50% effective field goal percentage. Mike Conley was a big part of the Utah Jazz’s playoff push in 2021, and he’s back to full strength now. He’s averaging 14.0 points per game on 44 percent three-point shooting.
10-27-21 | Wizards v. Celtics -4.5 | Top | 116-107 | Loss | -105 | 16 h 31 m | Show |
Washington will have their work cut out for them with the Celtics, who have won their last two games. First, they’ll have to slow down Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, who combined for 71 points in their Monday night game against the Hornets. Another player to keep an eye on is Dennis Schröder. The guard seems to be finding his way on his new team and his recent performances are proof of progress being made. Last game, Schröder put up a season-high 23 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. The Celtics will certainly have the Wizards moving fast to the backcourt so lets see if their legs are ready.
10-26-21 | Nuggets v. Jazz -7 | Top | 110-122 | Win | 100 | 18 h 40 m | Show |
The Nuggets are scoring an average of 106.0 points per game which is 21st in the league, while shooting 52.1% overall and 37.7% from downtown. Jokic Is the scoring leader for Denver with an average of 29.5 points per game and the center is shooting 65.9% overall and 37.5% from behind the line. Will Barton is Denver's dish-king with a team-high 5.5 assists per game and Barton is also the second-leading scorer with an average of 16.0 points per game. Denver has been careless with the ball as the Nuggets are averaging 19.0 turnovers per game.
10-23-21 | Pistons v. Bulls -8 | Top | 82-97 | Win | 100 | 10 h 36 m | Show |
The Chicago Bulls have completely revamped their roster around shooting guard Zach LaVine. Looking at last season, he averaged 27.4 points, five rebounds, 4.9 assists, 0.5 blocks, and 0.8 steals in 35.1 minutes per game. He shot the ball well and should get better looks now as he shot 50.7 percent from the floor, 41.9 percent from three-point range, and 84.9 percent from the charity stripe. In his last game against the Detroit Pistons, he played 35 minutes and had 34 points, seven rebounds, four assists, a steal, and a block. If LaVine can figure out how to be a team player and be content with less touches, this team has the potential to be special.
10-20-21 | Celtics +2 v. Knicks | Top | 134-138 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 6 m | Show |
The Boston Celtics have a solid team behind small forward Jayson Tatum. Looking at his numbers from last season, he finished with 26.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 0.5 blocks, and 1.2 steals per game in 35.8 minutes. Tatum needs to shoot a little better as he finished shooting 45.9 percent from the field, 38.6 percent from beyond the arc, and 86.8 percent from the charity stripe. He’s going to need to step up even more as they are trying to remain competitive in the East without as much help.
10-09-21 | Dodgers -1.5 v. Giants | Top | 9-2 | Win | 160 | 12 h 58 m | Show |
Los Angeles averaged 5.11 runs per game during the season. Their .244 batting average was 11th in the league. Their .330 on base percentage was fifth, while their .429 slugging percentage was seventh. Los Angeles’ pitching was among the best during the season. Opponents had a .207 batting against the Dodgers, which was first in the league. Their 3.01 ERA also led the league, as did their 1.10 WHIP. In his last start, Urias gave up one hit and one run in 6.1 innings, leading to an 8-3 win over Milwaukee.
10-09-21 | New Mexico +19.5 v. San Diego State | Top | 7-31 | Loss | -105 | 12 h 56 m | Show |
So what went right in the 30-3 loss to UTEP? Not much, but the defense was able to clamp down a bit in the second half, LB Trevor Brohard turned in a nice day, and … That was about it. However, the Aggies got in a few games of work in the spring and have a date under its belt before dealing with San Diego State in a strange off-campus location while the new Aztec Stadium is being built. This remains a San Diego State team that might have to find a consistently dangerous offense, it’s not going to be in familiar surroundings
10-09-21 | Utah +3 v. USC | Top | 42-26 | Win | 100 | 11 h 20 m | Show |
It’s been a rough, rough run for the Utes – more on that in a moment – but football-wise, the team has been off for a few weeks after a desperately needed 24-13 win over Washington State. The running game started to kick it all in against the Cougars with a season-high 219 yards. This week it has to pound and pound some more against a USC defensive front that’s been fine against the mediocre but failed against the Oregon State ground attack. It’s a horribly inconsistent Trojan team – which you might expect considering the early season coaching change – with way too many penalties, not enough defensive plays behind the line, and too many turnovers. The three against Washington State made it tough early, and the four against Oregon State were devastating. Utah is 2-0 when it comes up with multiple takeaways, and 0-2 when it doesn’t
10-09-21 | East Carolina v. Central Florida -10 | Top | 16-20 | Loss | -103 | 9 h 7 m | Show |
The UCF offense might not be the high-powered fun show it’s supposed to be, but it still has the running game to control things against the struggling ECU defensive front. Being back at home should matter. This is a much different team in the Bounce House, Keene and the offense should be a wee bit sharper after getting a game out of the way with Gabriel out, and the offensive balance should be there to take control of the game.
10-09-21 | Virginia +2.5 v. Louisville | Top | 34-33 | Win | 100 | 6 h 26 m | Show |
The Louisville pass defense isn’t a total disaster, but it’s the worst in the ACC. To be fair, playing Ole Miss, UCF, and Wake Forest had something to do with that, but Florida State was able to throw for 248 yards, too. Welcome to Virginia. This isn’t the slow-and-stodgy Cavalier team we’re all used to. QB Brennan Armstrong and the passing game are bombing away with close to 2,000 yards in the first five games and now it’s time to crank up. Louisville isn’t doing enough against the run, either – the overall D is the worst in the ACC – and the Cavs proved in the win over Miami that it could be a bit balanced, too.
10-08-21 | Lakers v. Warriors -3 | Top | 114-121 | Win | 100 | 8 h 45 m | Show |
The Warriors have had a far different preseason than the Lakers so far, as they’ve not only won both of their games, but they’ve also been playing all of their players (at least for the most part). While Frank Vogel has held LeBron James and Russell Westbrook out of both of their games, Curry has played in both contests for the Warriors. He’s averaging 13.5 points per game (in 17.4 minutes), and has gone 7-14 on 3-point attempts, because of course he has.
10-08-21 | Mercury v. Aces -5.5 | Top | 87-84 | Loss | -108 | 7 h 60 m | Show |
Vegas has to be afraid entering Game 5 considering what happened in Games 2 and 3 when it seemed Phoenix could score at will. But that fear got the Aces to play disciplined in Game 4 and they went on a 24-0 run of their own en route to victory. Vegas has offensive firepower as well — it had the best scoring offense in the league by 5.5 points. It has the best assembly of stars in the league, hence the preseason favorite status.
10-08-21 | Pelicans +8 v. Bulls | Top | 85-121 | Loss | -105 | 6 h 50 m | Show |
Despite this game not counting towards the 2021-22 regular season standings, the Pelicans versus the Bulls is going to be fun entertainment tonight. However, there’s no denying the fact that emotions have been ratcheted up across the local viewing area because of one questionably written article.
10-08-21 | Charlotte v. Florida International +3.5 | Top | 45-33 | Loss | -110 | 4 h 30 m | Show |
The passing game has perked up. It was fine over the first part of the season, and despite the losses over the last two weeks on the road, the offense cranked up close to 400 yards through the air against Central Michigan and 319 in last week’s loss to Florida Atlantic. Former Maryland starter Max Bortenschlager has settled in, and the 1-2 receiving punch of Tyrese Chambers and Bryce Singleton are making big play after big play.
10-08-21 | Braves v. Brewers -1.5 | Top | 1-2 | Loss | -100 | 2 h 25 m | Show |
Corbin Burnes has been pitching phenomenally this season according to his Baseball Savant page as he is in the 99th percentile in xERA, 99th percentile in xSLG, 98th percentile in chase rate, and 97th percentile in strikeout percentage. His 3.1 barrel percentage is more than half of the next-lowest season of his career. Burnes throws six different pitches (cutter, curveball, changeup, slider, sinker, fastball) and his curveball has been dominant as it has a .069 batting average and a .119 slugging percentage.
10-06-21 | Jazz v. Mavs -2.5 | Top | 101-111 | Win | 100 | 5 h 31 m | Show |
While two-time All-Star Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis provided plenty of optimism for the upcoming season in Sunday's scrimmage, expect Dallas to be cautious with their stars throughout the preseason slate. Doncic and Porzingis will play the first half vs. Utah, per the plan, and all of their minutes will be with each other.
10-06-21 | Sun v. Sky +4.5 | Top | 69-79 | Win | 100 | 4 h 44 m | Show |
To end this series now the Sky need to keep shooting the three-ball well. In their two wins, they shot 45 percent and 36 percent from three. In their loss? 26 percent. They have to take those long-range shots and they have to hit them at 36 percent or higher. Doing so forces the Sun to contest those shots and it opens up the painted area a little more, which we know Connecticut loves to pack up. Hitting those threes gives the Sky better looks for their twos.
10-06-21 | Spurs -2.5 v. Pistons | Top | 105-115 | Loss | -107 | 3 h 9 m | Show |
The Spurs will now hit the road for the first time in more than four months after blowing out the understaffed Utah Jazz in a phenomenal preseason opener on Monday. San Antonio thrived behind a new-look run-and-gun brand of basketball, befitting one of the youngest rosters in the NBA. And hopefully, their suffocating defense travels with them to Detroit as they take on a hobbled Eastern Conference bottom-dweller.
10-03-21 | Ravens v. Broncos -1 | Top | 23-7 | Loss | -110 | 2 h 45 m | Show |
The Ravens offense has led the way this season but the defense has struggled, allowing 28.3 runs per game and 331.7 passing yards per game. Linebacker Patrick Queen has been the force in the middle of the defense with 23 tackles and a sack while Chuck Clark, Marlon Humphrey, and Anthony Avrett have been leading the secondary combining for eight passes defended and 49 tackles but the rest of the defense has struggled. The front of the Ravens defense is failing to pressure opposing quarterbacks aside from Odafe Oweh who has a sack and four QB hits while the secondary is still trying to replace all-pro corner Marcus Peters, who is out for the season with an injury.
10-03-21 | Cardinals +4 v. Rams | Top | 37-20 | Win | 100 | 2 h 35 m | Show |
This has the feel of a competitive game where the Rams win, but Arizona covers. The Cardinals have lost by double digits in seven of the last eight meetings. This game could illustrate how far they’ve come, but how they aren’t quite there yet. That seems to be what the respected bettors believe based on the line movement.
10-02-21 | Baylor +4.5 v. Oklahoma State | Top | 14-24 | Loss | -114 | 11 h 8 m | Show |
There’s the Baylor win we were all waiting for in the Dave Aranda era. 2020 was supposed to be a total rebuild, and beating Texas State, Texas Southern, and Kansas was no big deal to start 2021. Baylor 31, Iowa State 29, and now the program is 4-0 with a chance to make an even bigger splash. The offense might not have rolled against the Cyclones, but the D held firm and the O made the most of every opportunity. Forget the overall stats – again, look at Baylor’s first three games – but the passing game really is efficient enough to at least keep the chains moving.
10-02-21 | Texas Tech +7 v. West Virginia | Top | 23-20 | Win | 100 | 8 h 31 m | Show |
The passing game still works. The Red Raider offense lost QB Tyler Shough to a collarbone injury in the loss to Texas, but Henry Colombi is a veteran who can run a big and threw for 324 yards and three scores with big play after big play. Yeah, it was a 70-35 loss and the Longhorns started to take it easy, but Texas Tech still managed over 500 yards for the second straight week. Last week’s game was rough, but the Red Raiders have a veteran defense that’s far better than it plays, allowing fewer than 300 yards in two of the three games before the debacle in Austin. West Virginia doesn’t have the passing game to keep up in a game like this if Colombi and company get hot early.
10-02-21 | Bowling Green v. Kent State -16 | Top | 20-27 | Loss | -118 | 7 h 23 m | Show |
The Kent State team continues to play with confidence. After the corner turned late last year, all of a sudden, it was as if the light went on. The offense started to click, the FlashFast style made sense, and it all started to roll. Against Eastern Michigan – a 27-23 win – the offense was almost perfectly balanced with 219 passing yards and 212 on the ground, and now it gets to go against a Bowling Green defense that got destroyed by Toledo for over 300 rushing yards and 200 through the air.
10-02-21 | Eastern Michigan v. Northern Illinois | Top | 20-27 | Win | 100 | 7 h 49 m | Show |
Why are the Huskies 2-2? They’re getting great play from the offensive front. They’re not allowing sacks, they’re pounding away for a ground game that hit the 160-yard mark in every game and averages 216 yards per outing. The Eastern Michigan defensive front couldn’t hold up against Wisconsin, but it gave up over 200 yards against UMass, too. The Huskies should be able to run enough to throw the Eagles off of their game.
10-01-21 | BYU v. Utah State +9.5 | Top | 34-20 | Loss | -110 | 7 h 42 m | Show |
Utah State might have screwed up a bit too much – and it only scored three points – but the offensive punch was there. The Aggies remained almost perfectly balanced – they’re a 200-yard rushing/200-yard passing machine – with the 443 yards put up against the Broncos just fine. They just couldn’t translate the effort into points.
10-01-21 | Houston v. Tulsa -3 | Top | 45-10 | Loss | -120 | 5 h 22 m | Show |
The Golden Hurricane got stuffed by Ohio State, but the 308 yards against Arkansas State helped control the game in a 41-34 win. Yes, the Houston pass defense has been statically great, but it’s about to deal with Davis Brin, who’s averaging over 300 yards per game with five scoring passes in the last two games. Houston might have a steady O over the last few games against inferior competition, but will the downfield passing game be there? The O line is having problems keeping defenses out of the backfield and the attack has yet to prove it can blow up.
09-30-21 | Virginia +6 v. Miami-FL | Top | 30-28 | Win | 100 | 15 h 47 m | Show |
The Hurricanes (2-2) open their ACC schedule Thursday night against Virginia (2-2), and will be facing the national leader in passing yards per game so far this season. The Cavaliers’ Brennan Armstrong is averaging 426 yards per game, and though it’s early, only seven quarterbacks in FBS history have ever finished a season averaging more. Miami’s starter remains a murky proposition. D’Eriq King’s shoulder injury is improving, but the Hurricanes still are expected to start either Tyler Van Dyke or Jake Garcia
09-27-21 | Nationals +1.5 v. Rockies | Top | 5-4 | Win | 100 | 7 h 35 m | Show |
German Marquez allowed five runs on six hits and four walks with four strikeouts over four innings in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Wednesday. Marquez ran into trouble the second time through the order on Wednesday in Colorado.
09-26-21 | Packers v. 49ers -3 | Top | 30-28 | Loss | -112 | 7 h 51 m | Show |
Jimmy Garoppolo in his first two games has exhibited the highs that show why the 49ers held onto him to try and compete for a Super Bowl this season. He’s also had the lows that explain why they traded up to No. 3 overall in the draft to select Trey Lance. One key for Garoppolo and the 49ers’ 2-0 start is the zero turnovers from under center. Giveaways were a significant problem for Garoppolo in each of the last three years, but he’s remedied the problem early in 2021. If he’s not giving the ball away, he’s plenty efficient to operate Kyle Shanahan’s offense successfully, even if it is a version of the offense that isn’t necessarily threatening defenses vertically.
09-26-21 | Bucs v. Rams +1 | Top | 24-34 | Win | 100 | 3 h 16 m | Show |
The Rams made a huge improvement at quarterback this offseason, swapping out Jared Goff for Stafford in a trade with the Detroit Lions. They also have two of the NFL’s best after-the-catch receivers in Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods, which doesn’t bode well for a defense that hasn’t tackled well through the first two games of the year. Throw in the injuries that have plagued the Tampa Bay defensive backfield so far this season, and the defending champs have a huge challenge on their hands in this department.
09-26-21 | Mets +1.5 v. Brewers | Top | 4-8 | Loss | -135 | 1 h 33 m | Show |
Carlos Carrasco pitched well in a losing effort against the Phillies on Saturday, allowing just two runs on five hits over his six frames. The right-hander racked up five strikeouts on the evening while issuing a pair of free passes
09-25-21 | New Mexico v. UTEP +2.5 | Top | 13-20 | Win | 100 | 15 h 57 m | Show |
The Miners have a little bit of an offense now. There’s balance, there’s a passing game, and this isn’t the team of the last several years that struggled just to get the chains moving. It has a mega-problem with mistakes – it’s last in the nation in turnovers, penalties and penalty yards – and it doesn’t convert on third downs. But it’s been able overcome that by running the ball well against the mediocre teams and controlling the clock.
09-25-21 | Dodgers v. Diamondbacks +1.5 | Top | 2-7 | Win | 125 | 14 h 57 m | Show |
I will almost always take the +1.5 along with the plus money.
09-25-21 | West Virginia v. Oklahoma -17 | Top | 13-16 | Loss | -108 | 14 h 44 m | Show |
One stat that may come as a surprise is the stark difference in turnovers between Oklahoma and West Virginia. Entering this weekend, the Sooners have an impressive turnover margin of (+5), which is tied for 7th nationally. On the other side, the Mountaineers have a TO margin of (-6), which is near the very bottom of the FBS at 127th. If OU continues to take care of the ball while also creating extra possessions for itself, and if WVU continues to plague itself with mistakes of this variety, it’s going to be an extremely long night for the ‘Eers.
09-25-21 | Pirates +1.5 v. Phillies | Top | 0-3 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 57 m | Show |
Wil Crowe limited Miami to one run in five innings to get a win as the Pirates edged the Marlins 2-1 on Friday in his last appearance. Crowe struck out five and walked one for his first win in eight starts. He improved to 4-7 and carries a 5.77 ERA, 1.58 WHIP, with a 100/51 K/BB ratio over 106 innings of work. It’s been a rough go for the youngster, but he has shown some flashes, enough to have the Pirates keep him around this year and most likely for next.
09-25-21 | Illinois +11 v. Purdue | Top | 9-13 | Win | 100 | 10 h 56 m | Show |
The Illini enter Saturday’s 2:30 p.m. kickoff at Purdue (2-1) as double-digit underdogs, but Purdue was projected by most to finish near the bottom of the West Division, so the road game at Ross-Ade Stadium may be one of the most winnable games remaining this season. Especially with an Illinois offense finally getting healthy and a Purdue team that might not have one of its stars (David Bell) available on Saturday. Bielema says he still sees progress in recent weeks. The best way to show progress is to win, and the Illini are hungry for one Saturday.
09-24-21 | Mariners v. Angels +1.5 | Top | 6-5 | Win | 100 | 7 h 7 m | Show |
On paper, there's very little reason to be on the Angels side here, but I suspect the Mariners will start to realize what Los Angeles has for a long time, that their playoff hopes are realistically over. I'm going to take the runs and LA here because the Angels staff seem to be getting stringer as they prep for next season and we may catch Seattle checked out.
09-24-21 | Liberty v. Syracuse +6.5 | Top | 21-24 | Win | 104 | 6 h 8 m | Show |
Here comes the Syracuse pass rush. Granted, playing Ohio and Albany is no big deal, but the Orange generated four sacks and a whole lot of pressure in a 17-7 loss to Rutgers. Willis is mobile enough and quick enough with his reads to avoid getting hit too many times, but the Liberty line allows a ton of plays in the backfield and close to three sacks per game. Again, that’s partly because Willis is moving, but the Orange still have to get to him. Also, again, the Syracuse offensive line hasn’t been great, but the running game has been decent so far against the mediocre teams. The O has to establish the ground game right away
09-24-21 | Royals +1.5 v. Tigers | Top | 3-1 | Win | 100 | 5 h 53 m | Show |
Casey Mize has been struggling this season according to his Baseball Savant page as he is in the 14th percentile in barrel percentage, 15th percentile in xSLG, 18th percentile in xERA, and 24th percentile in xBA. He has a career 10.8 barrel percentage. Mize also throws five pitches (slider, fastball, sinker, splitter, curveball) and his slider has been his best pitch as it has an .186 batting average with a .335 slugging percentage.
09-23-21 | Panthers v. Texans +8 | Top | 24-9 | Loss | -103 | 7 h 39 m | Show |
Houston's defensive tackles have quietly been having an impressive season. Former Dallas Cowboy Maliek Collins is back to near his best, and currently ranks eighth in the NFL among defensive tackles for the highest pass-rush win rate, per ESPN. Sixth-round rookie Roy Lopez has had far more of an impact than most had expected, currently first among NFL defensive tackles in run-stop win rate.
09-23-21 | Wings v. Sky -5 | Top | 64-81 | Win | 100 | 5 h 29 m | Show |
The Sky have the talent and experience to be favored in this game. This team has three All-Stars in the staring lineup and two former All-Stars on the bench. The Sky can be a phenomenal team. If they play up to their potential they can blow out anyone in the WNBA and do so convincingly. And, even with all the disappointments of 2021, they’re still in the driver’s seat, playing at home, with a fully healthy team ready to go.
09-23-21 | Rangers v. Orioles +1.5 | Top | 0-3 | Win | 100 | 4 h 12 m | Show |
The Rangers' pitching staff has been poor this season. As a team, they are bottom 10 in the league in ERA, hits allowed, runs allowed, home runs allowed, strikeouts, and batting average against. With Glenn Otto starting, this will be a bullpen game for the Rangers. Their relievers rank less than average in ERA, runs allowed, and WHIP. Texas’ relievers rank bottom 10 in hits allowed, strikeouts, and batting average against. Texas has been poor on offense this season. They are bottom five in the league in runs, hits, home runs, RBI’s, batting average, OBP, SLG, and OPS. It comes as no surprise the Rangers will not make the playoffs and have the second-worst record in the AL. They are bottom 10 in most pitching categories and bottom five in most offensive categories.
09-23-21 | Nationals +1.5 v. Reds | Top | 3-2 | Win | 100 | 4 h 53 m | Show |
I think we're going to catch the Reds sleeping here. Cincinnati knows their postseason chances are slim after taking on the chin against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Washington has won 10 of their last 11 games in Cincinnati.
09-22-21 | Braves v. Diamondbacks +1.5 | Top | 9-2 | Loss | -100 | 12 h 34 m | Show |
The Braves hope Ian Anderson can turn a corner on the season as he is pivotal to the team's playoff success but has struggled this season, allowing 48 runs in 22 starts. Moreover, Anderson is allowing hard contact off the bat with a .241 expected opponent Batting Average, a .417 expected opponent Slugging Percentage, and a 4.53 expected ERA.
09-22-21 | Dodgers v. Rockies +1.5 | Top | 5-10 | Win | 118 | 10 h 30 m | Show |
The Colorado Rockies will be going with German Marquez as the starter for this game. Marquez is in the middle of a solid 2021 campaign as he possesses a 12-10 record along with a 4.16 ERA. In addition, he has a 3.16 ERA at home as he has looked significantly better at Coors Field up to this point.
09-22-21 | Hamilton v. Ottawa +9 | Top | 24-7 | Loss | -110 | 9 h 14 m | Show |
One of those 3 teams vying for the division lead is the Hamilton Tiger-Cats as they are tied atop the standings with a 3-3 record. Despite having third string quarterback David Watford starting against the Stamps, he completed 19 of 22 pass attempts for 149 yards and also ran 35 yards in the Cats victory last Friday. I think we'll see a look ahead spot here.
09-21-21 | Mets v. Red Sox -1.5 | Top | 3-6 | Win | 130 | 14 h 44 m | Show |
While the Mets have struggled at the plate lately, and for the whole season for that matter, the same cannot be said for the Red Sox, who have averaged 8.2 runs in their five-game win streak. In their last game, they were at home and completed the sweep over the Baltimore Orioles with an 8-6 win.
09-21-21 | Pirates +1.5 v. Reds | Top | 6-2 | Win | 100 | 13 h 6 m | Show |
The Reds are in a battle for the final wild-card spot in the National League. Coming into this series, they stand three games behind the Cardinals for the second spot. They have lost six of their last eight games at the most inopportune time of the year.
09-20-21 | Lions +11.5 v. Packers | Top | 17-35 | Loss | -102 | 8 h 54 m | Show |
Green Bay's string of six straight season-opening victories ended with a thud when the Packers fell 38-3 to the New Orleans Saints at Jacksonville, Florida. The Packers now will try to win their home opener for a ninth consecutive season. Aaron Rodgers threw two interceptions without a touchdown pass in the season opener. Green Bay's 35-point defeat marked its most lopsided loss in any game Rodgers has started. After trailing by as many as 28 points, the Lions made a frantic comeback before falling 41-33 to the San Francisco 49ers in a game that marked the Detroit debuts for head coach Dan Campbell and quarterback Jared Goff. I'll take the 12 in this one.
09-20-21 | Nationals -1.5 v. Marlins | Top | 7-8 | Loss | -100 | 6 h 22 m | Show |
When the Nationals look back on their 2021 campaign they'll realize that their offense really isn't indicative of a last place team. Washington is 4th in the majors in team BA (.259) and 5th in OPS (.754) – but of course that didn't lead to a lot of wins this season (61-88). The Nats' are still a dangerous team to bet against with Josh Bell (.545 OBP) and Juan Soto (.500) reaching base a ton over the past week
09-19-21 | Vikings +4 v. Cardinals | Top | 33-34 | Win | 100 | 7 h 42 m | Show |
This is a classic week two match-up, one team looked real good, Arizona, against a team that didn't in Minnesota. I've said it 100 times, especially in week two, don't take what you just saw and apply it to this week. Expect the opposite as Minnesota comes away with the outright win.
09-19-21 | White Sox v. Rangers +1.5 | Top | 7-2 | Loss | -100 | 5 h 7 m | Show |
In his last start, Lyles gave up three hits and no runs in seven innings, leading to an 8-1 win over Houston. More than happy to take the plus money along with the +1.5
09-19-21 | 49ers v. Eagles +3 | Top | 17-11 | Loss | -110 | 4 h 39 m | Show |
The Eagles’ offense is going to be able to take advantage of a 49ers defense that’s banged up. DeVonta Smith is going to feast on a gettable secondary.
09-18-21 | Oklahoma State +3.5 v. Boise State | Top | 21-20 | Win | 100 | 12 h 12 m | Show |
It’s been a rough two games so far with tight battles against Southwest Missouri State and Tulsa, but it’s been a bit of a rebuilding job with the coaching staff, and QB Spencer Sanders was out early on. That’s why you have the soft openings – the hope is to be ready for a game like this. The defense has been able to make up for the offensive problems with a good pass rush and enough stops to keep the team in games. It’s been a high-wire act, but the O proved it could explode – coming up with a 21-point fourth quarter comeback to get by Tulsa 28-23 – and now the attack gets a Boise State defense that’s struggling to get off the field – at least it did against UCF
09-18-21 | Jackson State v. UL-Monroe -4 | Top | 7-12 | Win | 100 | 4 h 49 m | Show |
There's very little about this game that says play the Warhawks but this number is way to peculiar for me not to jump on it.
09-18-21 | Padres +1.5 v. Cardinals | Top | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 10 h 14 m | Show |
Yu Darvish has been pitching extremely well according to his Baseball Savant page as he is in the 83rd percentile in xBA, 83rd percentile in walk percentage, 81st percentile in xERA, and 81st percentile in hard hit percentage. His 8.7 barrel percentage is the highest of his career. Darvish throws seven different pitches (cutter, slider, fastball, curveball, sinker, splitter, changeup) and his cutter has been getting hit the most as it has a .341 batting average and 10 homers off of it. He faced the Cardinals twice last season as a member of the Chicago Cubs as he went 2-0 in 13 innings and allowed two runs on nine hits with one walk and 18 strikeouts.
09-18-21 | Fordham +31.5 v. Florida Atlantic | Top | 14-45 | Win | 100 | 2 h 32 m | Show |
There’s an effective enough of an offense to take advantage of every opportunity. The Rams don’t miss when they get inside the red zone, they’re solid at coming up with third down conversions, and the line has been solid so far for the ground game and at keeping teams out of the backfield. There hasn’t been a whole lot of luck overall, but Tim DeMorat is coming off a big 352-yard, three touchdown passing day in the loss to Monmouth, and this week the passing attack should keep pressing an FAU defense that’s not stopping anyone on third downs and doesn’t have any sort of a pass rush.
09-18-21 | USC v. Washington State +7.5 | Top | 45-14 | Loss | -109 | 7 h 7 m | Show |
So what’s really the problem at USC? It was able to get by San Jose State with relative ease and chalk up the Stanford game to a bad day. However, there hasn’t been anything from the defensive line so far – it’s not getting behind the line – and there are WAY too many penalties and mistakes so far. Wazzu has a similar problem to USC’s – the talent in place isn’t producing yet. Turnovers aren’t an issue, and the parts are there to start doing a whole lot more to keep the chains moving, and again, USC probably won’t bring the pressure.
09-17-21 | Central Florida v. Louisville +7 | Top | 35-42 | Win | 100 | 15 h 46 m | Show |
The season did not start well for Louisville, but over its last six quarters, it has put up 54 points. The Cardinals had to replace a ton of talent at the skill positions this year, but quarterback Malik Cunningham is an experienced signal-caller and a very good athlete. Cunningham has a history of being turnover-prone but has just one interception this season in 60 pass attempts. He has six total touchdowns with four coming on the ground. Hassan Hall and Jalen Mitchell will help power the ground game.
09-17-21 | Phillies v. Mets +1.5 | Top | 4-3 | Win | 100 | 14 h 28 m | Show |
The Phillies pitching staff has been average this season. As a team, they are in the middle of the league in ERA, hits allowed, runs allowed, home runs allowed, walks allowed, WHIP, and batting average against. When betting, you have to take the bullpen into account, not just the starter.
09-17-21 | Rockies v. Nationals +1.5 | Top | 9-8 | Win | 100 | 6 h 34 m | Show |
I'm not sure why, but I've never been a huge Marquez backer and we're not going to be today either. This game and pitching match-up looks too easy. I'm taking the insurance but we're going with Washington.
09-17-21 | Mystics -1.5 v. Liberty | Top | 80-91 | Loss | -107 | 6 h 7 m | Show |
The Mystics have shown a ton of fight this season as they have battled through injuries, illnesses and personal matters. It all comes down to two games left in the regular season. Don’t count them out just yet.
09-15-21 | Astros v. Rangers +1.5 | Top | 7-2 | Loss | -100 | 16 h 17 m | Show |
Jose Urquidy was not involved in the decision on Wednesday during the Astros loss to the Mariners after allowing two runs over just three innings. The 26-year-old has failed to reach the fifth inning in each of his starts since returning from the injured list and it cost his team on Wednesday. Urquidy was pulled after reaching 70 pitches and allowed the Mariners to score six runs off the Astros' bullpen, including three off All-Star closer Ryan Pressly.
09-14-21 | Diamondbacks +1.5 v. Dodgers | Top | 4-8 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 2 m | Show |
Arizona has won just 47 of its 143 games and has been out of playoff contention for quite some time. However, the Diamondbacks have put on their spoiler caps. Arizona defeated Seattle in two out of three games and hurt the Mariners chances of reaching the postseason in the American League. I'm betting that the Dodgers are caught sleeping in this one.
09-13-21 | Wings +10.5 v. Aces | Top | 75-85 | Win | 100 | 2 h 54 m | Show |
The Dallas Wings have clinched the playoffs and will not play All-Star Satou Sabally in their game against the Las Vegas Aces on Sunday at 3 p.m. (NBA TV). Sabally returned from an Achilles injury in the Wings’ last game, but the team likely doesn’t want to push her any harder and wants to rest her for the playoffs. However, Dallas, currently the seventh seed is still playing for the No. 6 seed. If it wins both of its remaining games and the Chicago Sky lose both of theirs, the two teams will be tied for sixth at 15-17 and Dallas has the head-to-head tiebreaker. So expect Arike Ogunbowale, Marina Mabrey and company to go full speed in an attempt to take down A’ja Wilson, Chelsea Gray and the Aces, who have yet to clinch a double-bye.
09-12-21 | Rays v. Tigers +1.5 | Top | 7-8 | Win | 100 | 7 h 36 m | Show |
Luis Patino has been struggling this season according to his Baseball Savant page as he is in the 25th percentile in average exit velocity, 34th percentile in walk percentage, 35th percentile in xSLG, and 37th percentile in barrel percentage. He throws five different pitches (fastball, slider, curveball, changeup, sinker) and his slider has been his best pitch as it has a .176 batting average with a .338 slugging percentage.
09-11-21 | Hawaii +11 v. Oregon State | Top | 27-45 | Loss | -108 | 14 h 4 m | Show |
The Oregon State Beavers scored 21 points in their opening game of the season but did not score 14 of those points until the final quarter. Quarterback Chance Nolan threw for just 157 yards, while the leading rusher through one game is Trey Lowe with only 27 yards, as Oregon State has gained only 78 yards rushing while passing for 285 yards. Trevon Bradford leads all Oregon State receivers with 75 yards.
09-06-21 | Louisville v. Ole Miss -9 | Top | 24-43 | Win | 100 | 10 h 26 m | Show |
The Cardinals do have to replace quite a bit of production on both sides of the ball, as top two receivers Tutu Atwell and Dez Fitzpatrick both went to the NFL. Leading rusher Javian Hawkins (133 carries for 822 yards and seven touchdowns) is also gone, while Louisville also lost key linebacker Dorian Etheridge (50 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, four sacks).
09-05-21 | A's +1.5 v. Blue Jays | Top | 0-8 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 22 m | Show |
The Athletics furious comeback fell just a little short, Saturday, but I think they'll have enough momentum to carry them through this one. Oakland is 6-1 in game three in a series where they dropped the first two games and have tremendous success against left-handed starters.
09-04-21 | New Mexico State +31.5 v. San Diego State | Top | 10-28 | Win | 100 | 11 h 44 m | Show |
The San Diego State Aztecs are a run-heavy offense and senior running back Greg Bell is back for the 2021 season The world will be on the Aztecs in this one but I think SDSU will keep this on the ground, eating up enough time to keep the Aggies within the number. There is a slight advantage to a team who has already played. They should make just enough improvement.
09-04-21 | Bethune-Cookman +21 v. UTEP | Top | 28-38 | Win | 100 | 9 h 54 m | Show |
It’s not like UTEP is Alabama quite yet. The Miners are coming off a dominant 30-3 win over New Mexico State, but they still have to prove they can crank up a consistent offense and New Mexico State is really, really bad at college football. Bethune-Cookman hasn’t played since 2019, but it’s had time to build back the parts, the offense isn’t going to have too many problems with turnovers, and it’s a fast attack that likes to keep things moving.
09-04-21 | Miami-OH +23 v. Cincinnati | Top | 14-49 | Loss | -110 | 4 h 2 m | Show |
The Miami Redhawks did not play much during the 2020 season as three games isn’t a great sample size but this could be the season that sophomore quarterback Brett Gabbert can take that next step. During his limited 2020 action, he went 23-of-35 for 384 yards with four touchdowns and did not throw an interception. They were able to return seven of their starters from last season so that means they have a chance to evolve as an offense with some extra chemistry.
09-03-21 | Michigan State v. Northwestern -3 | Top | 38-21 | Loss | -110 | 15 h 1 m | Show |
Reed and Nailor make up a dynamic duo at wide receiver for Michigan State, no matter who is playing quarterback. However, Northwestern was a very good pass defense last year, allowing just 195.3 passing yards per game (19th in FBS) and just 5.2 yards per pass attempt (first in the FBS). The Wildcats also return star safety Brandon Joseph, who was tied for the lead the nation with six interceptions in 2020. The MSU wide receivers going against the NU defensive backs should be a heavyweight battle, and might be the most fun matchup to watch.
09-03-21 | Saint Francis +33 v. Eastern Michigan | Top | 15-35 | Win | 100 | 13 h 2 m | Show |
Is anyone except me going to be on the Red Flash, not like;y, but I'm not going to lay big numbers early on against teams who are treating these games like their national championship. The offense got a big, efficient passing season two years ago, and while the main men are done, there are just enough dangerous playmakers – like WRs Brandan Lisenby and Kahtero Summers – to potentially be a problem. Eastern Michigan has to prove it can generate a steady pass rush, and the secondary has to be able to make more plays after a rocky 2020
09-02-21 | Sky v. Aces -3.5 | Top | 83-90 | Win | 100 | 7 h 44 m | Show |
The Aces come into this contest at the top of the pack in scoring offense, ranking first with 88.8 points per game. Las Vegas is 1st in the league in rebounding (38.9 boards a game) and stand third in the league in assists by handing out 21 dimes per contest. The Aces have been average on the defensive end of the floor as they are 5th in the league in scoring defense by allowing 80.1 points Liz Cambage will not play for the Aces causing the public to react but the Aces will still cash tonight's ticket.
09-02-21 | Sam Houston State v. Northern Arizona +11.5 | Top | 42-16 | Loss | -115 | 6 h 58 m | Show |
Northern Arizona returns much of its defensive core. The defense will be tested against the Bearkats, who return such star players as quarterback Eric Schmid. Schmid threw for 2,808 yards and 20 touchdowns last year, and added another eight scores on the ground. The Lumberjacks had a solid pass defense in the spring, and hope their efforts can limit their opponent’s potent offense.
09-02-21 | South Florida +19 v. NC State | Top | 0-45 | Loss | -102 | 5 h 14 m | Show |
The Bulls finished the season on an eight-game losing streak, although two of those losses were by fewer than three points. The Wolfpack are led by fourth-year sophomore quarterback Devin Leary, who started just three games last year due to a broken left foot suffered on Oct. 17 against Duke. Leary, who also missed 20 days of 2020 fall camp due to COVID-19, had won three straight games prior to the injury. In his four games last season, he passed for 890 yards, eight TDs, and just two interceptions
09-02-21 | UC Davis +23 v. Tulsa | Top | 19-17 | Win | 100 | 5 h 41 m | Show |
The Aggies know how to run the ball. They don’t necessarily dominate the time of possession battle, but they’re great at keeping the chains moving with manageable third-down opportunities, and they’re able to bust off runs in chunks. 3-2 in the FCS spring session, they averaged 226 rushing yards per game and balance it all out with an efficient passing attack. The running back combination of Lan Larison and Ulonzo Gilliam will average over five yards per carry this season, the defense has a strong pass rush, and it’s an experienced enough team to not beat itself with a whole slew of mistakes.
09-01-21 | A's -1.5 v. Tigers | Top | 6-8 | Loss | -107 | 6 h 31 m | Show |
Oakland's pitching has been its strength this season as the Athletics are seventh in team ERA at 3.72, 9th in WHIP at 1.21 are holding opposing hitters to an average of .239, which is 14th best. The starting rotation has been Oakland's ace in the hole as the Athletics are first in baseball in Quality Starts with 65
08-31-21 | Astros v. Mariners +1.5 | Top | 0-4 | Win | 100 | 16 h 25 m | Show |
Lance McCullers was charged with four runs over 6 2/3 innings Wednesday as the Astros beat the Royals in extra innings 6-5. It looked like McCullers was going to cruise through seven frames when he retired the first two batters in the top of the inning. However, he then gave up a single before issuing back-to-back walks to the 8-9 hitters in the Royals' lineup.
08-30-21 | Padres v. Diamondbacks +1.5 | Top | 7-5 | Loss | -104 | 13 h 14 m | Show |
Tyler Gilbert pitched five innings and allowed two runs Wednesday in a no-decision against the Pirates in his last appearance for Zona. Of course, he threw a no-hitter in his first career start, and he followed that up by allowing nine hits in five innings at Coors last week in his second start. Bryce Wilson outperformed him, but the Diamondbacks came back off the Pirates pen and won 5-2. He has a 2.38 ERA and 1.01 WHIP in 22 innings of work. He’ll get another chance against the Padres on Monday, the same team he no-hit three weeks ago.
08-29-21 | Cardinals v. Pirates +1.5 | Top | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 1 h 54 m | Show |
The St Louis Cardinals have been a below-average offense this season as they are 23rd in baseball with a .703 OPS. Unfortunately, they are not “hitting into luck” as their .282 batting average on balls in play (BABIP) is 26th in the majors and no team behind them is currently in a playoff spot if the season ended today.
08-28-21 | Southern Utah +24.5 v. San Jose State | Top | 14-45 | Loss | -105 | 17 h 8 m | Show |
While San Jose State suffered only one loss, one win was all that Southern Utah managed in its condensed spring 2021 campaign, a 34-24 road victory against Cal Poly. One encouraging takeaway from the Thunderbirds' 1-5 record, however, is that no single loss was by more than eight points. In fact, four of them were decided by three points or fewer. They’ll look to extract some confidence out of having so many close endings and aim to finish games on a better note, especially with both of their road losses coming by just a single point.
08-27-21 | Vikings +4 v. Chiefs | Top | 25-28 | Win | 103 | 14 h 10 m | Show |
Kansas City's offense will be led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes who looked okay in the second preseason game. In that game, he completed 10 of his 18 pass attempts for 78 passing yards and zero touchdowns. However, he also threw one interception and this number smells like a trap.
08-22-21 | Nationals v. Brewers -1.5 | Top | 3-7 | Win | 100 | 3 h 44 m | Show |
Washington’s pitching isn’t as good as the team’s offense. Opponents have a .247 batting average against the Nationals, which is 20th in the league. Their 4.56 ERA is 21st, while their 1.31 WHIP is 16th. In his last start, Nolin gave up eight hits and four runs in three innings, leading to a 4-1 loss to New York.
08-22-21 | Mariners v. Astros -1.5 | Top | 6-3 | Loss | -104 | 2 h 16 m | Show |
This game is backed by two trends that are a combined 84-33 (72%). The Mariners are just 18-48 in their last 66 games against the Astros, and just 15-36 in Houston. The Astros are having yet another good season as they are one of the best teams in the league currently. They have a 72-50 record and are currently 1st in the AL West. The team is scoring a league-high 5.4 runs per game and allowing a top 5 league-low 3.9 runs per game.
08-21-21 | Twins v. Yankees -1.5 | Top | 1-7 | Win | 100 | 2 h 18 m | Show |
Gerrit Cole has been incredible this season according to his Baseball Savant page as he is in the 95th percentile in strikeout percentage, 91st percentile in chase rate, 88th percentile in walk percentage, and 87th percentile in whiff percentage. His 9.7 barrel percentage is the highest of his career. Cole also throws five different pitches (fastball, slider, curveball, changeup, sinker) and hitters are struggling against the slider as it has a .136 batting average and a .216 slugging percentage. He faced the Twins once this season and he won by throwing six innings and allowed two runs on five hits with no walks and nine strikeouts.
08-20-21 | Montreal -4 v. Calgary | Top | 22-28 | Loss | -109 | 7 h 51 m | Show |
After a Week 1 bye, Montreal looks to make it two wins in a row. Alouettes’ quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. owns a 3-0 record against the Stampeders. Meanwhile, Calgary is looking to avoid a 0-3 start and will have to do so with out two-time MOP winner, Bo Levi Mitchell, who broke his fibula
08-20-21 | Pirates v. Cardinals -1.5 | Top | 4-0 | Loss | -102 | 7 h 32 m | Show |
The pitching has continued to struggle throughout the season with Mitch Keller being one of the many disappointing starters, allowing 47 runs in 15 starts while only tossing 60 strikeouts. Moreover, Keller is allowing a 2.88 expected opponent Batting Average, which is among the worst in the MLB, along with a .461 expected opponent Slugging Percentage, and a 6.00 expected ERA.
08-20-21 | Marlins v. Reds -1.5 | Top | 3-5 | Win | 115 | 5 h 54 m | Show |
The offense has really let the fish down this season, ranking bottom five in runs, on-base percentage, home runs, and slugging percentage. They have a stable of solid starters in their rotation, but they need a handful of bats heading into next year as they have been lacking in the batter’s box.
08-13-21 | Bills v. Lions -1 | Top | 16-15 | Loss | -110 | 8 h 53 m | Show |
While the preseason will always be an exhibition and nothing more, it seems notable looking back that Patricia lost his first game 16-10 against the Las Vegas Raiders back in 2018. During that game, the Lions started slow, looked disorganized at times, and struggled on both sides of the ball all around. Two years later, many of those same problems were still dogging Patricia’s team, leading to his eventual dismissal. While the first preseason game shouldn’t mean everything in terms of judgment, it can certainly help get things off on the right foot for the franchise at a critical time on the field. For Campbell, the hope is things go smoother than the 2018 preseason and regular-season opener. From the start, the old coaching staff seemed to be behind the eight-ball. Campbell cannot watch that play out for his tenure. Win or lose, there has to be a feeling of organization that Patricia never achieved.
08-12-21 | BC +7 v. Calgary | Top | 15-9 | Win | 100 | 7 h 55 m | Show |
The Lions, on the other hand, were done in by a massive early deficit in their 33-29 loss at Saskatchewan last Friday. BC fell behind 31-0 in the first half in its first outing under new coach Rick Campbell, though the Lions fought back to make it a one-score game before a failed onside kick and a late Roughriders interception ultimately thwarted the comeback effort. The Lions will make the biggest jump from week one.
08-12-21 | Sun -1.5 v. Storm | Top | 57-79 | Loss | -101 | 4 h 53 m | Show |
Seattle has been impressive all season, but does have a weakness on the defensive side in the paint, an area of strength for Connecticut on offense.
