08-13-23 | Chiefs +1.5 v. Saints | Top | 24-26 | Loss | -110 | 12 h 16 m | Show |
On offense, the progress of the Chiefs' young wide receivers is far and away the most intriguing element. With Kadarius Toney out, it remains to be seen how much starters such as Skyy Moore and potentially Marquez Valdes-Scantling will play. There's a clear drop-off after that, though, which could lead to the likes of rookie Rashee Rice, second-year wideout Justyn Ross, and veteran Richie James getting plenty of snaps. Kansas City's receiver room is loaded with youth, and the preseason presents an opportunity for everyone to shine.

Walker allowed seven hits and four runs in seven innings in his previous start against the Kansas City Royals on Sunday. Pablo Lopez (7-6, 3.81) is expected to start for the Twins on Saturday. Lopez was effective in his most recent start, against the Tigers on Monday, as he gave up five hits and no runs in seven innings. In the opener, Cincinnati left-hander Andrew Abbott (6-3, 2.93 ERA) is scheduled to start opposite Pittsburgh right-hander Johan Oviedo (6-11, 4.18). Abbott, who has not faced the Pirates, will be making his 12th major-league start in a strong rookie season. On Saturday against Washington, Abbott had one of his biggest hiccups. He took his first loss since July 15, allowing six runs, nine hits and a career-high five walks in 5 2/3 innings. Oviedo is on a roll. He is 3-0 with a 0.90 ERA over his past three games, all quality starts. He also has been a boon to the bullpen - he has reached seven innings six times. That includes his last time out when he pitched seven shutout innings Sunday in a win at Milwaukee.

08-08-23 | Cardinals v. Rays -1.5 | Top | 2-4 | Win | 125 | 15 h 1 m | Show |
Both teams were off on Monday, and on Tuesday, St. Louis sends Miles Mikolas (6-7, 4.29 ERA) to the mound, while Tampa Bay counters with Zach Eflin (12-6, 3.46). Mikolas was lined up to start on Sunday, but instead opted to drop his appeal on a five-game suspension levied by MLB after the right-hander intentionally plunked Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ with a pitch. With Mikolas not getting the starting nod against Colorado, the Cardinals used left-hander Zack Thompson (2-4) as an opener. Four relievers were used to close out the one-run loss, which made Monday's day off more beneficial to rest some arms. Mikolas is 0-2 with a 7.71 ERA in two career starts against Tampa Bay. In 14 innings, the veteran has yielded four home runs. Eflin is 1-1 with a 4.42 ERA in three starts (18 1/3 innings) against the Cardinals. At home, Eflin has been especially effective this season, posting a 10-2 record with a 2.60 ERA. However, in his last outing at Tropicana Field, the 29-year-old gave up five runs in four innings in a loss to the Miami Marlins on July 26. But in Eflin's last start, on the road at the New York Yankees, the right-hander tossed six shutout innings in a win.

Wheeler is 10-14 with a 4.66 ERA in 30 career starts against the Nationals, while Suarez is 6-1 with a 3.80 ERA in 13 career games (six starts) versus Washington. The surging Nationals have won four straight heading into this doubleheader. After a 3-2 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers last Wednesday, the Nationals swept the Cincinnati Reds, outscoring them 19-9 during the three-game set. Washington is also 11-5 over its last 16 games.

He collected his first victory in eight career starts when he pitched five innings in an 8-2 win against Houston on Sunday. He gave up two runs and eight hits but didn't issue a walk. Tigers Rookie Reese Olson (1-4, 4.71) will start the series opener. Olson gave up four runs and eight hits in six innings last Friday in Miami but didn't figure into the decision in the 6-5 loss. Like the Jets, the Browns went 7-10 last year and are hoping to be a player in the AFC playoff race this season. This will be the first full season in Cleveland for Deshaun Watson, who split his six starts last season while completing just 58.2 percent of his throws in those games. Watson will again lean on the running of Nick Chubb, a Pro Bowler each of the last four years. Last year, Chubb ran for a career-high 1,525 yards that included 12 touchdown runs and a 5 yards-per-carry average. Thursday night will be Browns fans' first look at rookie Cedric Tillman, a third-round pick who caught 64 passes for 1,081 yards and 12 touchdowns during his final season at Tennessee. Also making his NFL debut for Cleveland is quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson, a fifth-round pick who threw for 3,154 yards and 27 touchdowns last fall while guiding UCLA to a 9-4 record.
08-03-23 | Orioles v. Blue Jays -1.5 | Top | 6-1 | Loss | -100 | 4 h 37 m | Show |
Right-hander Jack Flaherty will make his first start for the visiting Baltimore Orioles on Thursday afternoon as they try to clinch their four-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays. Baltimore obtained Flaherty before the trade deadline Tuesday from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for three prospects. The Orioles wanted his experience and innings-eating capability down the stretch to bolster a young staff as they try to hold on to first place in the American League East. Toronto's starter on Thursday will be right-hander Kevin Gausman (8-5, 3.10 ERA). Gausman pitched the first five-plus seasons of his 11-year career for the Orioles. In three career starts against them, he is 1-1 with a 4.76. Gausman threw eight innings of two-run ball against Baltimore in a no-decision on May 21.

08-01-23 | Brewers -1.5 v. Nationals | Top | 6-4 | Win | 108 | 8 h 38 m | Show |
Right-hander Freddy Peralta (6-8, 4.46 ERA) will try to snap Milwaukee's losing streak. Peralta's last three starts have included two outings in which he tossed six shutout innings against the Reds sandwiched around a drubbing by the Braves in which he gave up six runs on six hits over five innings. Peralta, who matched his career high on Wednesday with 13 strikeouts against Cincinnati, is 2-2 with a 7.29 ERA in five career games (three starts) vs. Washington. The Nationals also were busy on the trade front Monday, sending veteran infielder Jeimer Candelario, 29, to the Chicago Cubs for a pair of minor-leaguers -- left-handed pitcher DJ Herz and shortstop Kevin Made. Right-hander Josiah Gray (7-8, 3.27 ERA) will start for Washington on Tuesday. Over his past two starts, Gray is 1-0 and has allowed a total of just one run on six hits and six walks over 13 innings. Gray has never faced the Brewers.
08-01-23 | Tigers +1.5 v. Pirates | Top | 1-4 | Loss | -185 | 7 h 26 m | Show |
In the series opener on Tuesday, Detroit's Matt Manning (3-2, 4.32 ERA) and Pittsburgh's Johan Oviedo (4-11, 4.60) are scheduled to start in a battle of right-handers. Oviedo is second to Pirates ace Mitch Keller with 10 quality starts, but those haven't translated to wins often enough. Oviedo snapped an eight-game losing skid after allowing one run on three hits in six innings Wednesday at San Diego.

The Orioles are scheduled to start right-hander Kyle Gibson (9-6, 4.68). Gibson is 6-2 with a 4.46 ERA in 12 career starts against Toronto. The Orioles have also made changes to their pitching staff. They selected the contract of right-hander Joey Krehbiel from Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday and optioned struggling right-hander Tyler Wells to Double-A Bowie. In his start against the Yankees on Saturday, Wells lasted only 2 2/3 innings and allowed three runs on home runs by Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge in the Orioles' 8-3 loss. It was the third straight start in which Wells did not complete five innings. In his past three starts, Wells has allowed 11 runs over nine innings.

The Angels are scheduled to start left-hander Tyler Anderson (5-2, 5.23 ERA) on Sunday. In two career starts against Toronto covering 10 2/3 innings, he is 0-1 with a 5.91 ERA. The Blue Jays are scheduled to start right-hander Jose Berrios (8-7, 3.40). In eight career starts against the Angels, he is 2-5 with a 7.03 ERA. Toronto put closer Jordan Romano (lower back inflammation) on the injured list Saturday. He was removed from the 4-1 win Friday with two out in the ninth, and the final out was left to Yimi Garcia. Right-hander Nate Pearson was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo. The Blue Jays appear set to use a closer committee in Romano's absence.
07-29-23 | Nationals +1.5 v. Mets | Top | 11-6 | Win | 100 | 10 h 2 m | Show |
Right-hander Carlos Carrasco (3-4, 5.82 ERA) is slated to start for the Mets against left-hander Patrick Corbin (6-11, 5.01). Carrasco took a loss in his latest start when he gave up five runs on a season-high 10 hits over a season-low 2 1/3 innings as the Mets fell 6-1 to the host Boston Red Sox on Sunday. He is 2-2 with a 3.94 ERA in eight career games (seven starts) against the Nationals. Corbin took a defeat Monday after allowing six runs (five earned) on 10 hits in 6 1/3 innings during the Nationals' 10-6 loss to the visiting Colorado Rockies. He is 7-10 with a 4.41 ERA in 26 games (25 starts) against the Mets. Corbin beat New York on May 15 after yielding two runs on eight hits in six innings. He struck out one and walked one in a 10-3 home victory.

Right-hander Lucas Giolito is set to make his Los Angeles Angels debut on Friday in the opener of a three-game series against the host Toronto Blue Jays. The Angels acquired Giolito and right-handed reliever Reynaldo Lopez from the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday in exchange for two prospects. The Angels also confirmed that they would not trade two-way star Shohei Ohtani, who can become a free agent at the end of the season, so the Blue Jays will be facing a team that is hoping to make a playoff run. Giolito is 6-6 with a 3.79 ERA in 21 starts this season. His 131 strikeouts rank 10th in the American League, and he has limited opponents to a .211 average in his past nine starts. Giolito spent 6 1/2 seasons in Chicago's rotation, winning 59 games. He was an All-Star selection in 2019, and threw a no-hitter against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Aug. 25, 2020. He is 2-2 with a 5.45 ERA in seven career starts against Toronto. Kevin Gausman (7-5, 3.18 ERA) is slated to start for the Blue Jays on Friday. He is 3-3 with a 4.78 ERA in eight career starts against the Angels.

Against New York, Miller allowed one run on three hits with five strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings.
07-21-23 | Astros -1.5 v. A's | Top | 6-4 | Win | 100 | 11 h 28 m | Show |
A couple of hard-luck left-handers go head-to-head Friday night when the visiting Houston Astros aim for their eighth consecutive win without a loss against the Oakland Athletics this season. Houston's Framber Valdez (7-6, 2.76 ERA) and Oakland's JP Sears (1-6, 3.99), a pair of six-game losers despite respectable ERAs, are scheduled to duel one night after J.P. France and Hogan Harris put on a nice show on the mound. The Astros' France prevailed in the series-opening pitchers' duel, getting a two-run, go-ahead double from Kyle Tucker and a solo home run from Alex Bregman in a 3-1 win. Valdez will try to give the Astros a third straight win overall after having been a bit questionable following his last start, a loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday. He left that contest in the seventh inning with a calf issue. Sears is winless in his past six starts, going 0-3 despite a respectable 3.68 ERA. He has been especially snake-bitten in July, as he has yet to pick up a decision despite producing a 1.93 ERA in three starts against the Detroit, Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins. Overall this season, he has just one win to show for 10 starts in which he allowed two or fewer runs.
07-20-23 | Cardinals +1.5 v. Cubs | Top | 7-2 | Win | 100 | 9 h 23 m | Show |
The St. Louis Cardinals are not playing like a club that reportedly could be a seller at the upcoming trade deadline. Meanwhile, Marcus Stroman might be making one of his final few starts for the Chicago Cubs. Riding a season-high five-game winning streak, the visiting Cardinals look to again get the best of Stroman during series opener against the rival Cubs on Thursday night. One of the major leagues' biggest disappointments, St. Louis entered the All-Star break 38-52. Earlier this week, president of baseball operations John Mozeliak hinted the club could deal veteran players for prospects by the Aug. 1 deadline. However, after losing 7-5 in 10 innings against the Washington Nationals on Friday, the Cardinals have totaled 34 runs and batted .330 while winning five straight, highlighted by this week's home sweep of the Miami Marlins. Though St. Louis is 10 games behind the first-place Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Central, the Cardinals are winners of seven of their past eight.
07-20-23 | Brewers v. Phillies +1.5 | Top | 4-0 | Loss | -190 | 2 h 2 m | Show |
The Phillies will hand the ball Thursday to right-hander Taijuan Walker (11-3, 4.00 ERA), who has won seven consecutive starts. Walker signed a four-year, $72 million deal in the offseason. After some rough early outings, he has proven to be one of the most reliable starters in the National League. In Walker's latest start, against the Padres on Saturday, he allowed four hits and two runs in five innings. Walker lost his lone career start against the Brewers when he gave up four runs on six hits in six-plus innings at Milwaukee last September while pitching for the New York Mets. Right-hander Corbin Burnes (8-5, 3.73 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Brewers on Thursday. In his most recent start, Burnes gave up two hits and two walks while striking out 13 in six scoreless innings against the Reds on Friday. Even more impressive was how he competed in the sweltering 90-plus degree conditions at Cincinnati. "He was getting better as we gave him time," Counsell said. "To strike out the side in the sixth was impressive." Burnes added, "The curveball was really good tonight." Burnes is 0-1 with a 1.08 ERA in three career games (one start) against the Phillies.
07-18-23 | Padres -1.5 v. Blue Jays | Top | 9-1 | Win | 130 | 8 h 50 m | Show |
The Padres will send right-hander Joe Musgrove (8-2, 3.29 ERA) to the mound Tuesday. Musgrove is 7-0 with a 1.79 ERA in his last nine starts, allowing one run or fewer six times during the stretch. Musgrove defeated the New York Mets in his final start before the All-Star break. He gave up three hits over six scoreless innings. Musgrove, 30, is 1-0 with a 1.46 ERA in three career appearances (one start) against Toronto, the organization that drafted him in the first round in 2011 before trading him to the Houston Astros one year later. Right-hander Alek Manoah (2-7, 5.91) will start for Toronto and aims to follow up on an encouraging start against the Detroit Tigers on July 7. He gave up one run, five hits and no walks and struck out eight for his first victory since April 5. It was Manoah's first major league outing since June 5, when he gave up six runs and recorded just one out against the Astros. Manoah, a 2022 All-Star, even was torched for 11 runs in 2 2/3 innings in a rookie-level game on June 27 after being demoted.

Cole has allowed two runs or fewer 13 times and the Yankees dropped to 9-4 in those games when he allowed two runs on six hits in six innings during a 5-1 loss at St. Louis on Sunday. Cole is 10-3 with a 2.53 ERA in 15 career starts against the Cubs and is facing Chicago for the first time since striking out 12 in six innings for Houston on May 27, 2019. After completing their 10th shutout this season, the Cubs hand the ball to Drew Smyly (7-5, 4.10). Smyly was 5-1 with a 2.60 ERA through his first 10 starts but is 2-4 with a 6.49 ERA in his past seven. Smyly took a no-decision for the first time since May 17 on Monday when he allowed three runs on four hits in 3 2/3 innings at Milwaukee. During his second-shortest outing this season, Smyly threw a season-low 73 pitches five days after getting tagged for seven runs and nine hits in 3 2/3 innings against the Philadelphia Phillies. Smyly is 3-0 with a 1.85 ERA in nine career appearances (seven starts) against the Yankees. 07-03-23 | Orioles -1.5 v. Yankees | Top | 3-6 | Loss | -100 | 7 h 35 m | Show |
Domingo German on Wednesday joined Don Larsen, David Wells and David Cone as the only New York Yankees to throw a perfect game, and now the intrigue will be about what the follow-up performance looks like. Coming off his historic perfect game, German will be on the mound Monday night when the Yankees return home for the opener of a four-game series against the Baltimore Orioles. The Yankees, who dropped two of three at home to Baltimore May 23-25, are returning to New York after a 3-3 road trip. They ended the trip by being held to three hits in a 5-1 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. German (5-5, 4.54 ERA) had allowed a combined 17 earned runs in consecutive losses at Boston and to Seattle before making history in Oakland. The right-hander threw 99 pitches, including 51 curveballs, and got nine strikeouts against the Athletics in an 11-0 victory. Tyler Wells (6-4, 3.21) starts for Baltimore and hopes to avoid his third straight loss. He allowed four runs in five innings June 21 in a 7-2 defeat at Tampa Bay, and then allowed two runs in six innings in a 3-1 loss to the visiting Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday. We anticipate German not being as sharp as he was against Oakland.

After struggling through a June to forget, St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Miles Mikolas will try to gain a fresh start in July. Mikolas finished 0-4 with a 6.07 ERA in five starts last month. He will flip the calendar with a tough road assignment against the Miami Marlins Monday at LoanDepot Park. The Cardinals will have their hands full against left-hander Braxton Garrett (4-2, 3.53), who has allowed just 11 earned runs in 50 innings over his last nine starts for a 1.98 ERA in that span. In his previous start, Garrett held the Red Sox to one run on three hits in five innings in an outing cut short by a rain delay in Boston.

The Nationals will hand the ball to MacKenzie Gore (4-6, 3.89 ERA) on Saturday. In Gore's latest start, on Sunday against the Padres, the left-hander allowed five hits and one run while striking out nine in an 8-3 win. The Phillies will attempt to even the series as ace right-hander Zack Wheeler (6-4, 3.86 ERA) takes the mound. Wheeler struggled mightily in his latest start as he gave up nine hits and five runs in 5 1/3 innings during a no-decision against the New York Mets on Sunday. In his career against the Nationals, Wheeler is 10-14 with a 4.59 ERA in 29 starts. He escaped with a no-decision at Washington on June 2 after yielding seven runs on eight hits in 3 2/3 innings. In their one-run loss on Friday, the Phillies went 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven on base, an ongoing struggle for the offense this season.

Bieber, 28, has never lost to the Royals. He is 6-0 with a 3.03 ERA in 13 career starts vs. Kansas City. Cleveland won 2-1 on Tuesday and 14-1 on Wednesday and has taken seven of its past nine to move into first place in the American League Central. Greinke, 39, is 12-9 with a 3.41 ERA in 35 games (30 starts) against Cleveland. Myles Straw is 5-for-9 off Greinke, while Ramirez (3-for-16) and Steven Kwan (1-for-10) have struggled.
06-28-23 | Twins +1.5 v. Braves | Top | 0-3 | Loss | -135 | 1 h 59 m | Show |
The Atlanta Braves will recall left-hander Kolby Allard from Triple-A Gwinnett and send him to the mound on Wednesday in an effort to sweep the visiting Minnesota Twins. The Braves took the first two games of the series, and they have won four straight and 12 of their last 13. The Twins have dropped three of their past four and are 2-3 on their current nine-game road trip. Allard will be opposed by Minnesota's Kenta Maeda (1-4, 6.86 ERA) as the Braves go for their eighth sweep of the season. Allard has missed the entire season with a right oblique strain sustained in spring training. The Braves' 2015 first-round pick was traded to Texas in July 2019, then reacquired from the Rangers in November. Over the past two weeks, Allard has made two rehab starts for Gwinnett, posting a 2.70 ERA in 6 2/3 combined innings.

Monday's series opener will feature a pair of left-handed starters: the Rangers' Andrew Heaney vs. the Tigers' Matthew Boyd. Heaney (5-4, 3.98 ERA) earned a win in his most recent start, last Monday against the Chicago White Sox. He and went 5 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on five hits with no walks and six strikeouts. It was his first win in June. Monday will mark Heaney's first start vs. the Tigers since the 2018 season when he was with the Angels. In two career starts vs. Detroit, Heaney is 1-1 with a 9.00 ERA in 10 innings. Due to the Rangers' inability to get timely hits, they left 10 runners on base Sunday. Marcus Semien, Nathaniel Lowe and Jonah Heim all had two-hit days. Boyd (5-5, 5.37 ERA) is riding a two-game winning streak for the first time this season, and the victories came in consecutive starts. In his last outing, against the visiting Kansas City Royals on Wednesday, Boyd allowed two runs on six hits with no walks and seven strikeouts over six innings. Boyd has faced the Rangers once this season, allowing five runs on five hits with four walks and five strikeouts over six innings as he took the loss on May 29 in Detroit. In his career vs. the Rangers, Boyd is 1-7 with a 6.39 ERA in 10 appearances, including nine starts.

The Braves will send Spencer Strider (8-2, 3.93 ERA) against Minnesota's Sonny Gray (4-1, 2.56) in a duel of right-handers. The Braves are coming off a 4-1 road trip, have won 10 of their last 11, and took the final two games of a three-game series against NL Central-leading Cincinnati. The Twins just won two of three from the host Detroit Tigers over the weekend, including 6-3 in 10 innings on Sunday. Minnesota has won four of its last five games. The teams have not met since 2019, when the Braves took two of three in Minneapolis. Strider leads the major leagues with 136 strikeouts and is coming off a bounce-back effort at Philadelphia on Tuesday. He limited the Phillies to one run over six innings after having allowed 13 runs over nine combined innings in his two previous starts. Strider fanned nine on Tuesday to become the second pitcher since 1901 to have 300 strikeouts in his first 35 starts, joining Dwight Gooden.

06-23-23 | Royals v. Rays -1.5 | Top | 3-11 | Win | 100 | 8 h 22 m | Show |
Like many players on the Kansas City Royals, pitcher Zack Greinke has had a troublesome June as play heats up and the bad teams get even more separated from the good. However, Greinke's job this weekend is straightforward: return home to Florida and beat the club that has dominated the season's first half. The right-hander will start the second game of the four-game series between the Royals and the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night in St. Petersburg, Fla. Greinke (1-7, 4.81 ERA) is 0-2 with a 7.53 ERA over his June starts against the Miami Marlins, Cincinnati Reds and Los Angeles Angels. Across his 15 starts, the 39-year-old veteran has pitched a season-high six innings just twice -- in his second and fourth outings of the year in April. In 14 1/3 innings in June, he has surrendered 12 runs and 18 hits, including four homers. The opposition is hitting an even .300 against him. Greinke is 4-6 with a 3.41 ERA in 18 career appearances (15 starts) vs. the Rays. He got a no-decision in his latest start against Tampa Bay, a 3-2 road defeat last Aug. 21, when he was taken deep by Christian Bethancourt.
06-23-23 | Twins -1.5 v. Tigers | Top | 4-1 | Win | 127 | 8 h 15 m | Show |
Left-hander Joey Wentz, who will start for Detroit in the series opener, is coming off his best outing of the season despite taking a loss. Wentz (1-7, 6.82 ERA) held the Twins to two runs on two hits and one walk in six innings in a 2-0 defeat on Saturday. He also recorded a career-best nine strikeouts, but he didn't get any run support. Kenta Maeda was reinstated from the 15-day injured list on Friday to start for the Twins. Maeda (0-4, 9.00 ERA) hasn't appeared in a major league game since April 26, when he surrendered 10 runs in three-plus innings against the New York Yankees. Sidelined by a triceps injury, Maeda made four minor league rehab appearances, most recently on June 16. He pitched 4 1/3 innings for Triple-A Saint Paul and gave up just one run and two hits, though he also issued four walks during the 81-pitch stint. Maeda missed last season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. His last victory came Aug. 14, 2021, against the Tampa Bay Rays.

06-21-23 | Padres v. Giants +1.5 | Top | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 11 h 40 m | Show |
The San Francisco Giants will measure just how much juice they have left in their busy bullpen when they go the opener route in search of a third straight win over the visiting San Diego Padres on Wednesday night. The Giants have won nine in a row overall, including the first two contests of the four-game series in walk-off fashion. They received a three-run homer from Mike Yastrzemski in the 10th inning for a 7-4 victory Monday before watching Padres closer Josh Hader walk home the winning run in the ninth for a 4-3 win on Tuesday. Late rallies and game-ending heroics grabbed the headlines, but perhaps the biggest difference in the tightly contested matchups has been the work of San Francisco's bullpen. The Giants have received 12 1/3 innings of three-run ball from six different relievers. The Padres, meanwhile, have tried five different relievers -- including Tim Hill twice -- out of the bullpen for a total of seven innings, during which the Giants have turned seven hits and nine walks into eight runs. The six Giants relievers who have contributed to the wins do not include Ryan Walker (2-0, 1.65 ERA), who was pressed into opener duties on Monday. He will start Wednesday's game as well. Walker allowed one run on three hits in 1 2/3 innings on Monday, his lone career encounter vs. San Diego.

The Royals' scheduled Tuesday starter, Daniel Lynch (0-3, 5.79 ERA), also had trouble with the long ball in his most recent outing. The left-hander surrendered four homers while giving up seven runs in seven innings against the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday. Lynch is 1-3 with a 5.22 ERA in six career starts against the Tigers.
