08-18-20 | Flames v. Stars OVER 5 | 1-2 | Loss | -130 | 26 h 40 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Over 5. This series is tied at 2-2, and Game 4 was a thriller with the Stars winning 5-4 in overtime. Both goaltenders saw a lot of rubber, and I think we could see another shootout in Game 5. The over is 9-2-1 in the Flames last 12 games as an underdog, and the over is 11-3-1 in the Flames last 15 games playing on 1 days rest. The over is 7-3-4 in the Stars last 14 Conference Quarterfinals games. Special teams could play a role, as both teams scored twice on the power play in Game 4. Take Over. GL, Jesse Schule
08-18-20 | Giants v. Angels -1.5 | 8-2 | Loss | -125 | 14 h 58 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the LAA. The Angels snapped a four game losing skid by beating the Giants in Game 1, and they look good as the favorite in Game 2. Dylan Bundy will toe the slab for LA, and he's been dealing so far in 2020. Bundy (3-1, 1.57 ERA) has allowed a single run on eight hits while striking out 20 batters in 16 innings in his last two starts. The Giants hand the ball to Trevor Cahill, who has only made one brief appearance this season. He was 2-6 with a 6.63 ERA on the road last season. Mike Trout is batting .340 with eight home runs and 18 RBIs against right-handers so far. Take LAA. GL, Jesse Schule
08-17-20 | Mariners v. Dodgers -1.5 | 9-11 | Win | 100 | 12 h 4 m | Show
This is a 7* play on LAD -1.5. The Dodgers have won five straight, and four of those five wins came by more than one run. The Mariners have lost five straight, and three of those five losses came by at least two runs. Rookie righthander Justin Dunn will toe the slab for Seattle, and he's struggled with his command. He's issued 10 walks over 13 innings in three appearances. The Dodgers hand the ball to Ross Stripling, who has been sharp at home in LA. He's 1-1 with a 2.31 ERA in two home starts. The Mariners rank 28th in the majors with a team batting average of .218. Take LAD. GL, Jesse Schule
08-17-20 | Nets v. Raptors UNDER 222 | 110-134 | Loss | -105 | 6 h 26 m | Show
This is an 8* play on under 222. The defending champions played 24 playoff games last season, and only five of those games saw more than 222 points. In their first round series versus Orlando all five games fell well short of that number. They come into the first round of this year's playoffs as the biggest favorite on the board, and they boast the NBA's #1 ranked defense. The Raptors were one of few teams (if not the only team) that played low scoring games in the bubble. The under is 7-2 in Toronto's last nine overall. Take Under. GL, Jesse Schule
08-17-20 | Lightning v. Blue Jackets +1.5 | 2-1 | Win | 100 | 27 h 59 m | Show
This is a 7* play on the Columbus Blue Jackets +1.5. There is little doubt that the Tampa Lightning are the more talented team. Throughout the course of a regular season a team as skilled as Tampa is going to score more goals and win more games. Put that team up against Comlumbus in a seven game series however, and you have a tough time arguing that Tampa is the better team. Despite being the significant betting favorite, the Lightning are 1-5 in their last six Conference Quarterfinals games. They have lost five of their last seven versus Columbus, and both wins during that span came in overtime. Take CBJ. GL, Jesse Schule
08-17-20 | Shakhtar Donetsk v. Inter Milan OVER 2.75 | 0-5 | Win | 100 | 23 h 20 m | Show
This is a 5* play on Over 2.5. Inter Milan finished just one point behind Series A Champions Juventus this season, and they scored 81 goals in 38 matches. They are coming off a 2-1 win over German club Bayern Leverkusen, and they will be a favorite in today's matchup versus Shahktar Donetsk. The Ukrainians can certainly score, they have tallied 14 goals while going 4-0-1 in their last five matches. They have also conceded six goals in those games. We've seen the officials quick to call penalties here in recent Europa matches, as was the case in yesterday's match. We expect a high score here in this Semifinal. GL, Jesse Schule
08-16-20 | Golden Knights -169 v. Blackhawks | 1-3 | Loss | -169 | 11 h 13 m | Show
This is a 7* play on the Vegas Golden Knights. Down 3-0 in the series, the Blackhawks could be a defeated team heading into Game 4. That's especially true for players that have been kept in a bubble, away from their families and friends. Bubble life was so bad for the Bruins starting goaltender, he up and quit in the middle of their series versus Carolina. Vegas is a team with a real shot at winning the Stanley Cup, and Chicago is a team ready for the golf course. Vegas has won nine of 10 head to head versus Chicago, and I like them to complete the sweep on Sunday. GL, Jesse Schule
08-16-20 | Padres -125 v. Diamondbacks | 4-5 | Loss | -125 | 8 h 7 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the SD Padres. The Padres will try to snap a four game losing streak in Arizona this afternoon, and they appear to have a favorable matchup on the mound. Robbie Ray will toe the slab for Arizona, and he's been lit up in all of his starts this year. Ray allowed six runs on seven hits and three walks in 3 2/3 innings in his last start. The Padres hand the ball to Garrett Richards, who has been sharp so far. Richards is 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA in five starts against the Diamondbacks. Arizona ranks 27th in the majors with a team ERA of 5.64. Take SD. GL, Jesse Schule
08-16-20 | Manchester United v. Sevilla +0.25 | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 7 h 11 m | Show
This is a 5* play on Sevilla +0.5. Manchester United is coming off a 1-0 win over Copenhagen, scoring the game's only goal on a penalty in the 95th minute. They are matched up against a far superior opponent tonight when they play Sevilla in the Semifinals. Only two teams in La Liga (Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid) allowed fewer goals than Sevilla. Opportunities are expected to be far and few between in this match, and I think that favors the defenive minded Spanish club. Take SEVILLA. GL, Jesse Schule
08-16-20 | Stipe Miocic v. Daniel Cormier OVER 2.5 | 1-0 | Push | 0 | 15 h 19 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Over 2.5 rounds. The first fight ended with Cormier recording a knockout in the first round, but Stipe was better prepared in the second figtht and won by KO in the fourth round. Here in the third fight, there are no secrets. Both fighters know what to expect from on and other, so I expect to see a defensive battle in the early rounds. In 24 professional fights, Cormier has been knocked out only once. Stipe has been knocked out twice in 22 professional fights. This should be a war. GL, Jesse Schule
08-15-20 | Lightning v. Blue Jackets +1.5 | 3-2 | Win | 100 | 15 h 26 m | Show
This is a 7* play on the Columbus Blue Jackets +1.5.
08-15-20 | Mariners v. Astros OVER 9 | 1-2 | Loss | -120 | 11 h 34 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Over. The Mariners gave up 11 runs in a loss at Houston on Friday, and another slugfest is expected Saturday. Nick Margevicius will toe the slab for Seattle, and all three of his appearances have been brief. Another brief outing would mean that the Mariners bullpen plays a key role. Seattle ranks 28th in the majors with a team ERA of 5.85. The Astros hand the ball to Christian Javier, who allowed five runs on three hits and two walks in three innings in a loss to Oakland his last time out. The over is 8-0-1 in the Mariners last nine road games versus a right-handed starter. Take Over. GL, Jesse Schule
08-15-20 | Mets v. Phillies -164 | 2-6 | Win | 100 | 18 h 16 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Phillies. The Phillies won Game 1 by a score of 5-4. and they should be in good shape with their ace on the mound in Game 2 versus the Mets. Aaron Nola (1-1, 2.79 ERA) has allowed two runs on five hits, striking out 22 over 14 innings in his last two starts. He's 1-0 with a 2.63 ERA in his last four starts versus the Mets. New York will hand the ball to Steven Matz, who is 0-3 with an 8.20 ERA so far. He was 1-2 with a 14.46 ERA in three starts in Philly last year. The Mets are batting a combined .215 with 56 strikeouts and just 36 hits over 165 at bats versus Nola. Take PHI. GL, Jesse Schule
08-15-20 | Olympique Lyonnais v. Manchester City OVER 3 | 3-1 | Win | 100 | 22 h 5 m | Show
This is a 5* play on Over 2.5. Lyon is coming off a 2-1 loss at Juventus, but they ended up advancing on the virtue of away goals. They face a far more daunting task here against Manchester City, the highest scoring team in the English Premier League. Manchester City scored 102 goals in 38 matches in domestic play this season, however they also allowed 35 goals in those games. I like Manchester City to score 2 or more goals here without posting a clean sheet. GL, Jesse Schule
08-14-20 | Islanders v. Capitals OVER 5 | 5-2 | Win | 100 | 28 h 44 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Over 5. The Capitals blew an early lead in Game 1, losing to the Islanders by a score of 4-2. The high score was no surprise, as these teams have gone over in four straight meetings. The over is 4-0 in the Capitals last 4 Conference Quarterfinals games, and they have gone over in six straight as a favorite. Braden Holtby struggled in Game 1, allowing four goals on just 27 shots. The bookmakers have listed a low total here, but I see both teams scoring a few goals. Take Over. GL, Jesse Schule
08-14-20 | Bayern Munich +102 v. Barcelona FC | 8-2 | Win | 102 | 5 h 21 m | Show
This is a 5* play on Over 2.5. Bayern is coming off a 4-1 win over Chelsea, making it 20 consecutive wins. During that span they have filled the net, scoring a total of 57 goals. They have a challenging draw here in the Champions League knockout round versus Barcelona, and we can expect an exciting match. Barcelona comes in as winners of four of their last five, and they scored three in a win over Napoli in their last match. These teams have played each other four times over the last decade, and all four of those matches saw three or more goals. Take Over. GL, Jesse Schule
08-13-20 | Mavs v. Suns -7 | 102-128 | Win | 100 | 6 h 18 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Phoenix Suns. The Suns are the biggest suprise in the bubble in Orlando, and their unbeaten run has put them in a position to force a play in game for the final playoff spot in the West. They will take on Dallas Thursday, and the Mavs are already looking ahead to their first round series. Luca Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis should ride the pine here, at least for the majority of the game. The Mavericks are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall, and they are 2-10 ATS in the last 12 meetings versus the Suns. Take PHX. GL, Jesse Schule
08-13-20 | Blue Jackets v. Lightning OVER 5 | 3-1 | Loss | -133 | 15 h 57 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Over 5. The Lightning won a five overtime marathon in Game 1, so don't be surprised to see some tired legs in Game 2 versus Columbus. The bookmakers have set a low total for this game, even though these teams historically play high scoring games. Three of the four games went over when these teams met in last year's playoffs, and seven of the last 10 meetings have seen five or more goals. The over is 9-4-1 in the Blue Jackets last 14 Conference Quarterfinals games, and the over is 7-2-1 in their last 10 games playing on 1 days rest. Take Over. GL, Jesse Schule
08-13-20 | Nationals +1.5 v. Mets | 2-8 | Loss | -180 | 4 h 51 m | Show
This is a 7* play on Washington +1.5. The Nats have taken two of three in this series in New York, and they look good as an underdog in the fourth and final game of the series. Austin Voth will toe the slab for Washington today, and he's been pretty solid so far. He's allowed three runs on six hits, striking out seven in 10 innings in two starts. The Mets hand the ball to David Peterson, who has good numbers (2-1, 3.78 ERA). His last start wasn't great, allowing a pair of runs on four hits and three walks and surrendering a home run in five innings. The Nationals have won four straight versus left handed starters. Take WAS. GL, Jesse Schule
08-12-20 | Padres +1.5 v. Dodgers | 0-6 | Loss | -135 | 12 h 22 m | Show
This is a Free play on the San Diego Padres +1.5. The Padres are tied with the Dodgers heading into tonight's Game 3, and after winning both the first two game in LA, they are an underdog tonight. Zach Davies will toe the slab for San Diego, and he's off to a helluva start. He's also owned the Dodgers, going 3-1 with a 1.98 ERA against them. The Dodgers hand the ball to Tony Gonsolin, who is filling in for Julio Urias. With Corey Seager injured, and Cody Bellinger and Max Muncy struggling at the plate, it's tough to fancy the Dodgers as a favorite here. Take SD. GL, Jesse Schule
08-12-20 | Raptors -6.5 v. 76ers | 125-121 | Loss | -110 | 10 h 38 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Toronto.
08-12-20 | Coyotes v. Avalanche -170 | 0-3 | Win | 100 | 51 h 50 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Colorado Avalanche. The Avs shocked the hockey world in last year's playoffs, upsetting the #1 ranked Calgary Flames in the first round. They went on to lose in the second round to the vetern San Jose Sharks. This playoff experience will be invaluable for the likes of Nathan McKinnon and Cale Makar. Colorado is younger, faster and far more talented than the Arizona Coyotes. "Obviously you can see their skill," Coyotes center Derek Stepan said. "They have it throughout their entire lineup, but they defend extremely hard, too. They've got shot blockers. We've certainly got our hands full. This is one of the best teams in the NHL, so we better be ready to play." The Coyotes are 3-8 in their last 11 games following a win, while the Avs are 11-4 in their last 15 overall. Take COL. GL, Jesse Schule
08-12-20 | A's +1.5 v. Angels | 8-4 | Win | 100 | 10 h 21 m | Show
This is a 5* play on the Oakland A's +1.5. Oakland is in danger of being swept here in LA, but I am expecting them to respond from back to back losses with a win here in Game 3. Chris Bassitt will toe the slab for the A's, and he's been lights out in all three of his starts. He allowed no runs on five hits, striking out five in a win over LA in his season debut. The Angels hand the ball to Griffin Canning, who was the loser opposite Bassitt in that game. Don't be fooled by his ERA of 3.14, Canning hasn't pitched that well. He's walked 10 batters over 14 innings in his three starts. Even after losing the first two games of this series, the Athletics are 10-4 in the last 14 meetings. Take OAK. GL, Jesse Schule
08-11-20 | Diamondbacks v. Rockies +101 | 7-8 | Win | 101 | 12 h 54 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Colorado Rockies. The Rockies are one of the best teams in baseball so far, and yet they are just a small favorite at home versus a struggling Arizona team. Zac Gallen will toe the slab for the D'Backs, and he hasn't yet lost this season. The Rockies hand the ball to Kyle Freeland, who hasn't had a lot of success against Arizona. Those numbers might not be all that relevant however, as the current D'Backs lineup is batting just .221 against him. Cole Kalhoun is 0-for-3 lifetime versus Freeland. Take COL. GL, Jesse Schule
08-11-20 | Cubs +1.5 v. Indians | 7-1 | Win | 100 | 10 h 30 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Chicago +1.5. The Indians come into this series versus the Cubs dealing with a bit of drama, after sending home players who haven't followed team protocol. The Cubs send Jon Lester to the mound, and Lester has been sharp in his first two starts of the season. He's allowed one run on four hits in 11 innings. The Indians hand the ball to Adam Plutko, who has been sharp in his own right. The Cubs have won four of their last five in Cleveland. Take CHI. GL, Jesse Schule
08-11-20 | Blazers -140 v. Mavs | 134-131 | Win | 100 | 9 h 58 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Blazers. I bet on Portland yesterday, and here is what I said before the game: "There's nobody you would rather have in the clutch than Damian Lillard. He sent Paul George packing with a buzzer beating three-pointer in last year's playoffs, and he's made a ton of big shots in his career. He needed to make just one of two free throws to tie the game game versus the Clippers in the dying seconds yesterday, but missed them both. So the question is ... how do you think he's going to respond? I think he's gonna open up a can of whoopass on a Philly team that just lost Ben Simmons for likely the remainder of the year." He went off for 50 points, keeping the Blazers playoff hopes alive. They face a tough matchup versus Dallas tonight, but with both teams playing the second game of a back to back, there is no need for the Mavs to push things, so don't expect their starts to log a lot of minutes. Take POR. GL, Jesse Schule
08-11-20 | Flames +100 v. Stars | 3-2 | Win | 100 | 27 h 1 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Calgary Flames. The Flames looked impressive in a play in series against a very tough Winnipeg team. Cam Talbot stood tall, stopping all 31 shots he faced in Game 4. Calgary was ousted in the first round as a #1 seed last year, and they have plenty to prove here against Dallas. The Stars come into this series as losers of eight of their last nine overall. It's hard to believe they can just flip a switch here in this series. Take CAL. GL, Jesse Schule
08-11-20 | Suns -7.5 v. 76ers | 130-117 | Win | 100 | 7 h 10 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Suns. The Suns are a real Cinderella story, and the clock hasn't struck midnight yet. The Phillies story is more of a nightmare, losing Ben Simmons to a knee injury, and Joel Embiid battling a sore ankle. You have to wonder how much the Sixers have invested in this postseason now that they know they aren't going to be at full strength. The Suns give us no such reason to doubt, and I expect antoher imprressive performance from this young Phoenix team today. GL, Jesse Schule
08-10-20 | Diamondbacks v. Rockies -130 | 12-8 | Loss | -130 | 17 h 9 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Colorado Rockies. The Rockies are one of the best teams in baseball so far, and yet they are just a small favorite at home versus a struggling Arizona team. Robbie Ray will toe the slab for the D'Backs, and he hasn't looked much like an ace lately. In three starts he's allowed 14 runs in just 13 1/3 innings. He's also walked 11 and surrendered six home runs. The Rockies hand the ball to Jon Gray, who is a rare breed who enjoys pitching at Coors Field. He was 6-2 with a 3.46 ERA in a dozen home starts last year. Charlie Blackmon is batting .435 lifetime with 5 home runs and 12 RBI lifetime versus Ray. Take COL. GL, Jesse Schule
08-10-20 | White Sox -145 v. Tigers | 1-5 | Loss | -145 | 16 h 35 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Chisox. The Tigers enjoyed their series in Pittsburgh, winning all three games. They return home Monday to face a far more formidable opponent. Michael Fulmer will toe the slab for the Tigers, and he makes just his second appearance of the season. His debut was short, allowing four runs on five hits and a walk in just 2 2/3 innings. He surrendered three home runs as well. The Sox hand the ball to Dallas Keuchel, who has looked sharp. His last start was his best, despite suffering a loss he allowed only one run on five hits while striking out eight in seven innings versus the Brewers. Keuchel is 4-2 with a 4.05 ERA in seven starts versus the Tigers. Take DET. GL, Jesse Schule
08-10-20 | Raptors +5.5 v. Bucks | 114-106 | Win | 100 | 3 h 14 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Toronto. I bet on Toronto to win the East (25-1) before the season started, and I am pretty pleased with that bet. Here is what I said in October: "There is no doubt that Kawhi Leonard deserved plenty of credit for bringing a title to Toronto, but I believe that there is a false narrative that he did it by himself. Many people question how competitive the Raptors can be without Kawhi. I would point out that last year they actually had a higher winning percentage in games he missed due to load management, than they did in the games he played. This is also a team that finished at or near the top of the Eastern Conference several seasons in a row prior to the arrival of Kawhi. Players like Fred Van Fleet and Pascal Siakam should be primed to thrive in a greater role." They catch the Bucks without the Greek Freak. Take TOR. GL, Jesse Schule
08-10-20 | Braves v. Phillies -149 | 8-13 | Win | 100 | 14 h 30 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Phillies. The Phillies look to earn a split in this final game of a home series versus Atlanta, and they should be in good shape with ace Aaron Nola on the mound. Nola (0-1, 3.97 ERA) has a history of pitching well against the Braves. He's 10-5 with a 2.94 ERA in 18 starts against Atlanta. The Braves hand the ball to Sean Newcomb, who has pitched well against the Phillies. Atlanta is just 4-9 in the last 13 meetings in Philadelphia. The Braves have lost four straight as an underdog. Take PHI. GL, Jesse Schule
08-10-20 | Bayer Leverkusen v. Inter Milan +115 | 1-2 | Win | 115 | 4 h 23 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Inter Milan. Inter Milan has been very strong since the return to play, pushing Juventus to the brink. They ended up finishing second in the Serie A just a single point behind Juventus. Bayern Leverkusen did not finish strong in the Bundesliga, winning just three of their final seven matches. They slipped all the way to fifth, and they could fall even further next season without Kai Havertz. He is rumored to be heading to Chelsea. Inter has been the stronger team and is in a far better spot to advance in this competition. Take Inter. GL, Jesse Schule
08-09-20 | 76ers v. Blazers -130 | 121-124 | Win | 100 | 11 h 34 m | Show
This is a Free play on the Portland Blazers. There's nobody you would rather have in the clutch than Damian Lillard. He sent Paul George packing with a buzzer beating three-pointer in last year's playoffs, and he's made a ton of big shots in his career. He needed to make just one of two free throws to tie the game game versus the Clippers in the dying seconds yesterday, but missed them both. GL, Jesse Schule
08-09-20 | Rockies -161 v. Mariners | 3-5 | Loss | -161 | 15 h 44 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Colorado Rockies 5 innings. The Rockies have won 10 games, while the Mariners have won five. Colorado has won five of their last six at Seattle, and yet the Mariners are were in Saturday's game. The pitching matchup favors the visitors in Sunday's series finale, and I like German Marquez to get another win. Colorado ranks 2nd the majors with a team batting average of .268. The Mariners pitching staff ranks 30th in the majors with a team ERA of 6.14. Take COL. GL, Jesse Schule
08-09-20 | Diamondbacks v. Padres -150 | 5-9 | Win | 100 | 15 h 44 m | Show
This is an 8* play on SD. The Padres have split the first two games at home against Arizona, and I like them in the rubber match Sunday. Mad Bum will go for the D'backs, and he's not the guy he was when he was winning championships in San Francisco. He's lost all three of his starts, and he got tagged for eight runs in 4 1/3 innings his last time out. The Padres hand the ball to Dinelson Lamet, who has been quite sharp. The Padres rank 2nd in the majors in runs scored (77). Take SD. GL, Jesse Schule
08-09-20 | Grizzlies v. Raptors -6.5 | 99-108 | Win | 100 | 12 h 27 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Toronto Raptors. This is also a team that finished at or near the top of the Eastern Conference several seasons in a row prior to the arrival of Kawhi. Players like Fred Van Fleet and Pascal Siakam should be primed to thrive in a greater role." They catch the Grizzlies off their first win in the bubble, and the Raptors are looking for payback after a loss to the Celtics. GL, Jesse Schule
08-09-20 | Tigers -139 v. Pirates | 2-1 | Win | 100 | 3 h 30 m | Show
This is a 5* play on the Detroit Tigers +1.5. The Steelers lost by a score of 17-14 in Pittsburgh on Friday? Oh wait, despite the score it wasn't a football game, but rather a high scoring baseball game that ended in extra innings. It wasn't a surprise to see a close game go back and fourth, as four of the previous five meetings had been decided by one run. Sunday Steven Brault steps in to face a Tigers team that tagged him for four runs without recording an out in his last appearance. The Pirates might be the worst team in the Majors, and I don't think they deserve to be favored in this game. Take DET. GL, Jesse Schule
08-08-20 | Braves v. Phillies -106 | 0-5 | Win | 100 | 8 h 55 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Philadelphia Phillies. After Game 1 was rained out yesterday, the Phillies host the Braves in a matinee in the City of Brotherly Love on Saturday. Jake Arrieta will toe the slab for Philly, and he's perhaps not the same pitcher he was with the Cubs. He's still a capable pitcher though, and he was 5-3 with a 4.36 ERA in 11 starts at home last year. The Braves hand the ball to Kyle Wright, who hasn't looked all that sharp. He's walked seven batters in just six innings over two starts. The Braves are 1-7 in their last eight games as a road underdog. Take PHI. GL, Jesse Schule
08-08-20 | Astros +1.5 v. A's | 1-3 | Loss | -154 | 7 h 38 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Astros +1.5. The Astros have lost three in a row, but two of those losses came in one run ball games. I like Houston as a dog in Game 2 in Oakland. Framber Valdez will toe the slab for Houston, and he's been solid so far. He allowed just one run on five hits, striking out eight in 6 1/3 innings in a win over the Angels his last time out. The A's hand the ball to Frankie Montas, who has pitched well despite struggling with his command. He's walked nine batters in 16 innings of work, but hasn't been punished for it. Carlos Correa is 4-for-8 with a home run lifetime versus Montas. Take HOU. GL, Jesse Schule
08-08-20 | Tigers +1.5 v. Pirates | 11-5 | Win | 100 | 7 h 32 m | Show
This is a 5* play on the Tigers +1.5. Ivan Nova will return to Pittsburgh, but this time pitching for the visitors. Nova was 3-5 with a 2.99 ERA in 14 starts in Pittsburgh in 2018. The Pirates hand the ball to Derek Holland, who is still looking for his first win. He was rocked for four runs on four hits and two walks in 5 2/3 innings in a loss to the Twins his last time out. The Pirates might be the worst team in the Majors, and I don't think they deserve to be favored in this game. Take DET. GL, Jesse Schule
08-08-20 | Jazz v. Nuggets -120 | 132-134 | Win | 100 | 5 h 50 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Denver Nuggets. The Jazz have lost three of their last four, and they are in a tough spot here in Saturday's game against Denver. This second game of a back to back in an early game could result in limiting the minutes of some star players. Denver has been far better in Orlando, with wins over the Spurs and the Thunder prior to losing to a much improved Portland team. The Jazz are 1-9-1 ATS in their last 11 games following a straight up loss, and they have lost both previous meetings versus Denver in 2020. Take DEN. GL, Jesse Schule
08-08-20 | Chelsea v. Bayern Munich -216 | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 1 h 53 m | Show
This is a 5* play on Bayern. Chelsea is already trailing on aggregate 3-0 after the first leg, and they don't appear to be all that focused on making a run here in the second leg. Three of their top four scorers (Willian, Giroud, Pulisic) are out of the starting lineup. This match should look very much like the first leg that Bayern won 3-0. Take Bayern. GL, Jesse Schule
08-07-20 | Celtics v. Raptors UNDER 218.5 | 122-100 | Loss | -110 | 15 h 41 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Under 218.5. So far in the bubble in Orlando we have seen some really high scores. Because of that the totals are being bet up to astronomically high numbers. So far all of the Raptor's games have gone under, and by a large margin. They are facing the Celtics for the fourth time this season, and two of the first three meetings went under the total. Kemba Walker is expected to play after resting a sore knee in the last game, but he's averaging just 14 points over his last four games. Marc Gasol preaches team defense: "In our locker room, if you don't have the will or the discipline to play defense, it is going to be really hard for you to see the floor, and that gives the coaches a lot of credit, right?" Take Under. GL, Jesse Schule
08-07-20 | Tigers v. Pirates +1.5 | 17-13 | Loss | -160 | 12 h 50 m | Show
This is a 5* play on the Pittsburgh Pirates +1.5. The Pirates are in dead last in the NL Central, and I am not at all surprised. They might be the worst team in the major leagues, but I am not sure Detroit is much better. I certainly don't think the Tigers should be a favorite. Chad Kuhl will toe the slab for the Pirates, and he's been impressive in two appearances. He's allowed just one run on five hits with five strikeouts in five innings. The Tigers hand the ball to Matthew Boyd, who has been roughed up in both his starts so far. He's allowed eight runs on 15 hits over 10 innings. He's 0-2 with a 7.36 ERA in three career starts against Pittsburgh. Four of the last five meetings between these teams have been decided by one run. Take PIT. GL, Jesse Schule
08-07-20 | Penguins v. Canadiens +1.5 | 0-2 | Win | 100 | 28 h 57 m | Show
This is a 5* play on the Montreal Canadiens +1.5. The Pittsburgh Penguins were a big favorite in this series, but they face elimination here in Game 4. Two of the first three games in this series were decided by one goal, and two of the three went under the total. Expect those trends to continue here given the magnitude of this game. "We've just done it by working hard," Canadiens coach Claude Julien said. "At the end of the day, we know where the experience is. The only way we can counter that is with our work ethic and our commitment and desire. We lack experience compared to the other team, but we're trying to make it up with our compete level." The underdog is 7-2 in the last nine meetings. Take MTL. GL, Jesse Schule
08-07-20 | Real Madrid +1 v. Manchester City | Top | 1-2 | Push | 0 | 391 h 53 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on Real Madrid +1. I had Real Madrid in the first leg, and here is what I said prior to that match: "Manchester City will head into the first leg of this Champions League tie looking to survive with a chance to win the second leg at home at the Etihad in March. Real Madrid is undefeated at home in domestic competition, and they are also undefeated at home in the Champions League. Real Madrid has won this competition seven times, while Manchester City has suffered many disappointments. Madrid is in first place in Spain, with a +26 goal differential, while the Citizens are just the second best team in the Premier Leaague. It will be quite tough for City to come away with a win here, but a close loss with an away goal would still be a solid result." Now that City has a lead on aggregate as well as away goals, they can sit back and play for a draw. The problem is that City isn't a team designed to play defense, and that leaves them vulnerable to an upset. GL, Jesse Schule
08-06-20 | Flames v. Jets UNDER 5.5 | 4-0 | Win | 100 | 14 h 45 m | Show
This is a 5* play on Under 5.5. The Flames will try to eliminate a banged up Jets team tonight, and I am expecting goals to be hard to come by. Here is what I said prior to Game 3: "The Jets lost Game 1 of this series 4-1, but they battled back to even the series with a 3-2 win in Game 2 yesterday. It was an impressive effort considering that their two most dangerous offensive players were out with injury. Both Patrick Laine and Mark Scheiffle are questionable to play in Game 3. Winnipeg knows they will need to muddy it up, and play a close, tight checking game to have any chance. These two teams have gone under in five straight head to head meetings, and the under is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings." Take Under. GL, Jesse Schule
08-06-20 | Flames -155 v. Jets | 4-0 | Win | 100 | 8 h 36 m | Show
This is a 5* play on the Calgary Flames. These two teams have gone under in five straight head to head meetings, and the under is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings." It's going to be quite difficult for Winnipeg to overcome all the injuries. Take CAL. GL, Jesse Schule
08-06-20 | Lakers v. Rockets -105 | 97-113 | Win | 100 | 7 h 1 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Houston.
08-06-20 | Maple Leafs v. Blue Jackets UNDER 5.5 | 3-4 | Loss | -131 | 11 h 6 m | Show
This is a 5* play on Under 5.5. The first two games of this each went under the total. In fact if you take the combined score in both games it's still not enough to reach the total for tonight's Game 3. So far tight checking and stellar goaltending have been the story, and I expect that to continue tonight. The under is 4-1-2 in the last seven head to head meetings, and the Blue Jackets have gone under in five straight. Take Under. GL, Jesse Schule
08-06-20 | Yankees v. Phillies OVER 9.5 | 4-5 | Loss | -110 | 17 h 18 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Over 9.5. Game 1 in Philly was a slugfest, and then the Yankees won a seven inning Game 2 by a score of 3-1. I am expecting plenty of scoring in Game 3. Jordan Montgomery will toe the slab for the Bronx Bombers, and he was sharp in his only previous start. He's likely to get plenty of run support from the Yankees star studded lineup. The Phillies hand the ball to Zack Efflin, who is making his season debut. There were four home runs in Game 1 yesterday afternoon. Take Over. GL, Jesse Schule
08-06-20 | Angels -160 v. Mariners | 6-1 | Win | 100 | 22 h 7 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Angels. The Mariners snapped a four game losing streak in Game 2 versus LA, but I like the Angels in the rubber match this afternoon. Dylan Bundy will toe the slab for the Halos, and he's had a solid start to the season after an impressive spring. He allowed three runs on four hits over six innings against Seattle in his last start, but the bullpen blew a lead late costing him the win. The Mariners hand the ball to Taijuan Walker, who has struggled against the Angels. He has an ERA of 5.32 in six appearances versus LA. Mike Trout has hit three home runs in seven at bats since his return from paternity leave. Take LAA. GL, Jesse Schule
08-06-20 | Giants v. Rockies -170 | 4-6 | Win | 100 | 22 h 34 m | Show
This is a 7* play on the Colorado Rockies. The Giants could salvage a split today with a win in Colorado, but I don't fancy their chances. Kyle Freeland will toe the rubber for the Rockies, and he's off to a good start. He is 6-3 with a 3.12 ERA in 12 career starts versus San Francisco. The Giants hand the ball to former Colorado pitcher Tyler Anderson. The 30 year old has allowed three runs on eight hits and six walks in 7 1/3 innings in three appearances this season. The Giants are 9-23 in the last 32 meetings in Colorado. Take COL. GL, Jesse Schule
08-06-20 | Canucks v. Wild UNDER 5.5 | 3-0 | Win | 100 | 6 h 35 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Under 5.5. This series is tied at 1-1, and chances are whoever wins a pivotal Game 3 will go on to win the series. I am expecting goals to be hard to come by here this afternoon. The Canucks held a 4-1 lead with 2.5 minutes left in Game 2, but Kevin Fiala scored twice to push the total over. I expect Game 3 to look a lot more like Game 1, which the Wild won by a score of 3-0. Take Under. GL, Jesse Schule
08-05-20 | Oilers -130 v. Blackhawks | 3-4 | Loss | -130 | 21 h 24 m | Show
This is an 8* play on EDM. I had the Oilers in Game 2, and here is what I said prior to the game: "Chicago is still a talented team that can't be taken lightly. The Oilers didn't look ready in Game 1, falling behind 4-1 after the first period. They dominated the game after that point, but still came up short. Mike Smith was pulled after allowing five goals on 23 shots, but Mikko Koskinen came in and stopped 18-of-19 shots in relief. A change between the pipes could put the Oilers in a better position to even the series with a win in Game 2." Koskinen came in and outplayed his counterpart, and the Oilers are in great shape heading into a pivotal Game 3. Take EDM. GL, Jesse Schule
08-05-20 | Astros v. Diamondbacks OVER 9 | 7-14 | Win | 100 | 11 h 7 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Over 9. The Astros won big in Game 1 in Arizona, and I think Houston's battery stays hot in Game 2. They rank 1st in the NBA in on base percentage. Robbie Ray will toe the slab for the D'backs, and he's off to a rough start. He's 0-2 with an 8.64 ERA, and he is 1-1 with a 4.32 ERA in his career against the Astros. Houston will hand the ball to Lance McCullers, who hasn't been that sharp either. He's allowed six runs on 11 hits and seven walks in 10 innings so far this season. The over is 4-0 in the Astros last four games versus a left-handed starter. Take Over. GL, Jesse Schule
08-05-20 | Nets v. Celtics UNDER 228 | 115-149 | Loss | -110 | 11 h 16 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Under 228. So far in the bubble in Orlando we have seen some really high scores. Because of that the totals are being bet up to astronomically high numbers. Monday four of the six games went under, and by a large margin. On Tuesday that trend continued, but one of the games that did go over was the Nets win over Milwaukee. It was the largest upset in the NBA in the last 27 years. That could set them up for a let down here against Boston. The Celtics are resting leading scorer Kemba Walker, so don't be surprised if these teams struggle to reach such a high number. Take Under. GL, Jesse Schule
08-05-20 | Brewers v. White Sox -130 | 1-0 | Loss | -130 | 19 h 49 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Chisox. The Chisox are off to a helluva start, seven of 11 games. They bring a six game winning streak into tonights game versus the Brewers. Dallas Keuchel will toe the slab for the Sox, and he's been great so far. Keuchel has allowed four runs on 10 hits with just one walk over 10 2/3 innings in two starts. The Brewers hand the ball to Adrian Houser, who was solid in a win over the Pirates in his season debut. Unfortunately for him, the White Sox are far more dangerous than the Pirates. The White Sox have won six of the last seven meetings. Take CWS. GL, Jesse Schule
08-05-20 | Blue Jays v. Braves OVER 9 | 2-1 | Loss | -115 | 9 h 8 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Over 9. The Jays got spanked in a 10-1 loss at Atlanta in Game 1, and I expect them to have a better day at the plate in Game 2. Sean Newcomb will toe the slab for the Braves, and he's been roughed up in his first two starts. He's allowed seven runs on nine hits and three walks over 7 2/3 innings against the Mets. The Jays hand the ball to Hyun Jin Ryu, who has had a rough start in the American League. He's allowed eight runs on 13 hits in nine innings of work in two starts. The over is 9-4 in the last 13 meetings. Take Over. GL, Jesse Schule
08-05-20 | Predators -128 v. Coyotes | 1-4 | Loss | -128 | 14 h 18 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Nashville. I had the Predators in Game 2, and here is what I said prior to the game: "The Predators were trailing 3-0 before they even realized what happened in Game 1, but they battled back and ended up losing 4-3. The opening goal was quite the fluke, a shot that deflected off not 1, but two defensemen before sailing over the shoulder of the goaltender. You could chalk up the loss to bad puck luck, and I still believe the Preds are the better team. The Coyotes are 5-12 in their last 17 games as an underdog, and they are 2-7 in their last niune games following a win." Nashville has been by far the better team in this series, and I'll back them once again in Game 3. Take NAS. GL, Jesse Schule
08-04-20 | Wild v. Canucks +200 | 3-4 | Win | 200 | 14 h 40 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Vancouver Canucks. The Wild won Game 1 by a score of 3-0, but I like the Canucks chances of tying the series with a win in Game 2. The biggest advantage for Vancouver in this series is their goaltending, but in Game 1 Alex Stalock stopped all 28 shots he faced, and Jakub Markstrom let in a pair of bad goals. I count on Markstrom to be better, and his teammates making life difficult for Stalock. The majority of the time the team with better goaltending and better special teams wins the series, so I still give the edge to the Canucks. Take VAN. GL, Jesse Schule
08-04-20 | Giants v. Rockies -174 | 2-5 | Win | 100 | 17 h 19 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Rockies. The Rockies comes into Game 1 versus San Francisco as winners of seven of eight, and despite a big price, I think getting the Rockies as a home favorite in this range in more than reasonable. German Marquez will toe the rubber for the Rockies, and he's been sharp so far this season. Marquez is a stud up there," Colorado catcher Tony Wolters said recently. "He's really loose. He's very in the moment. He can read hitters. And he believes in his stuff." The Giants will hand the ball to Kevin Gausman, who has been roughed up in each of his two starts so far. He was 0-0 with a 9.00 ERA against the Rockies last year. The Giants rank 27th in opponent batting average so far this season. Take COL. GL, Jesse Schule
08-04-20 | Flames v. Jets UNDER 5.5 | 6-2 | Loss | -130 | 9 h 9 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Under 5.5. The Jets lost Game 1 of this series 4-1, but they battled back to even the series with a 3-2 win in Game 2 yesterday. It was an impressive effort considering that their two most dangerous offensive players were out with injury. Both Patrick Laine and Mark Scheiffle are questionable to play in Game 3. Winnipeg knows they will need to muddy it up, and play a close, tight checking game to have any chance. These two teams have gone under in five straight head to head meetings, and the under is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings. Another low score is expected tonight. Take Under. GL, Jesse Schule
08-04-20 | Magic v. Pacers UNDER 224 | 109-120 | Loss | -106 | 9 h 3 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Under 224. So far in the bubble in Orlando we have seen some really high scores. Because of that the totals are being bet up to astronomically high numbers. Yesterday four of the six games went under, and by a large margin. The Magic are facing the Pacers on Tuesday, and both teams have been impressive so far. The bookmakers haven't set a total as high as 220 in any of the previous 10 meetings between these teams, and in fact the last six meetings had a total set below 210. Both these teams are among the top defensive squads in the NBA, and I expect this game to have a playoff feel to it. Take Under. GL, Jesse Schule
08-04-20 | Coyotes v. Predators -125 | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 11 h 59 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Nashville. The Predators were trailing 3-0 before they even realized what happened in Game 1, but they battled back and ended up losing 4-3. The opening goal was quite the fluke, a shot that deflected off not 1, but two defensemen before sailing over the shoulder of the goaltender. You could chalk up the loss to bad puck luck, and I still believe the Preds are the better team. The Coyotes are 5-12 in their last 17 games as an underdog, and they are 2-7 in their last niune games following a win. Take NAS. GL, Jesse Schule
08-03-20 | Blackhawks v. Oilers -140 | 3-6 | Win | 100 | 18 h 22 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Oilers. Chicago is still a talented team that can't be taken lightly. A change between the pipes could put the Oilers in a better position to even the series with a win in Game 2. Take EDM. GL, Jesse Schule
08-03-20 | A's -179 v. Mariners | 11-1 | Win | 100 | 18 h 32 m | Show
This is a 9* play on the Oakland A's. The Mariners surprised a few people starting the season with a respectable four wins in eight games. The reality is about to set in, this team is going to be well below .500 this season. Franky Montas will toe the slab for the A's, and he's off to a solid start in 2020. In two starts he's allowed just three runs on eight hits with eight strikeouts in nine innings. The Mariners hand the ball to Justus Sheffield, who allowed four runs on three hits and four walks in just three innings in his only appearance this season. Take OAK. GL, Jesse Schule
08-03-20 | Spurs v. 76ers UNDER 227.5 | 130-132 | Loss | -107 | 6 h 41 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Under 227.5. The Spurs and the Sixers are trending in opposite directions. This isn't the same San Antonio team we saw struggle during the season. Since the restart they have won back to back games, and they look like a team desperate to make the playoffs. The Sixers on the other hand are the exact same team they were earlier this season. Philly was brutal away from home, and their first game of the restart was a loss to Indiana. The Sixers rank just 21st in the NBA in scoring, and 7th in the NBA in points allowed. We should see a playoff type atmosphere in this game, which should keep the score under 227.5. GL, Jesse Schule
08-03-20 | Mets v. Braves +1.5 | 7-2 | Loss | -150 | 16 h 31 m | Show
This is an 8* play on ATL +1.5. After Yoenis Cespedes went missing during yesterday's game in Atlanta, it was announced that he has opted out of the season due to concerns about Covid-19. If you believe that's all there is to the story, I have a bridge in Brooklyn that I can offer to sell you. Jacob deGrom will toe the slab for the Mets in the series finale, and because he's pitching the Mets are actually a favorite. The problem is, deGrom can only throw so many pitches, and he can't score runs. The Mets were 1-for-15 with runners in scoring position Sunday. Take ATL. GL, Jesse Schule
08-03-20 | Phillies v. Yankees -1.5 | 3-6 | Win | 100 | 17 h 1 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the NYY. So the Yankees have been as good as advertised, and so has Gerrit Cole. They are an overwhelming favorite here in Game 1 versus Philly, and under normal circumsrtances I would pass on a game with this price. I am making an exception here though, because with the Phillies coming off a week of not just inactivity, but also uncertainty, I don't like their chances of locking in on one of the best pitchers in the majors. Take NYY. GL, Jesse Schule
08-03-20 | Pacers -7 v. Wizards | 111-100 | Win | 100 | 14 h 49 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Pacers. The Wizards are coming off back to back losses by a combined margin of over 20 points. Their loss to Brooklyn likely ended any hope of an early exit from the bubble, but that might be just what they want. Who know, Magic City might seem like a lot more fun that hanging around in Orlando right now. Indiana on the other hand won outright as a 5.5 point underdog versus the Sixers, and this is a team that is firmly looking forward to the playoffs. The Pacers have won and covered in four of the last five meetings, and with Washington starting a bunch of backups, this game should be a blowout. Take IND. GL, Jesse Schule
08-03-20 | Raptors -155 v. Heat | 107-103 | Win | 100 | 4 h 58 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Raptors. Players like Fred Van Fleet and Pascal Siakam should be primed to thrive in a greater role." They face a Miami team that is coming off a big win over Denver, and might be due for a bit of a let down. There is some concern about Jimmy Butler, although we expect him to play. Take TOR. GL, Jesse Schule
08-02-20 | Mavs -5.5 v. Suns | 115-117 | Loss | -110 | 13 h 20 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavs did everything right in their first game back, except for the final 41 seconds in an overtime loss to the Rockets. They blew a seven point lead, allowing Houston to force overtime in a game that they had no business winning. Luca Doncic had a triple-double, and Kristaps Porzingis went off for 39 points and 16 rebounds. The good news for Dallas is they are right back on the court, and they have an excellent opportunity to get that bitter taste out of their mouths. They face the Phoenix Suns, who might be happy with themselves after beating the Wizards backups. The Mavs have won three of the last four meetings by an average margin of nine points. Take DAL. GL, Jesse Schule
08-02-20 | Bucks -175 v. Rockets | 116-120 | Loss | -175 | 13 h 49 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Milwaukee Bucks. The Rockets should have lost to Dallas in their first game of the restart, but they took advantage of a young team making rookie mistakes. Dallas had a seven point lead with 41 seconds to play, and let it slip away. The Rockets tied the game and went on to win in overtime. Now they are facing a Bucks team that doesn't make many mistakes. Milwaukee (unlike Houston) is solid on both sides of the ball ranking top five in points scored and points allowed. The Bucks have won three straight versus Houston, and they have covered in five of the last six meetings. Take MIL. GL, Jesse Schule
08-02-20 | A's -161 v. Mariners | 3-2 | Win | 100 | 12 h 44 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Oakland A's. Seattle blew a late lead last night, allowing Oakland to even the series at 1-1. I like the visitors in the rubber match Sunday. Chris Bassitt will toe the slab for Oakland, and he tossed four scoreless innings against the Angels in his season debut. The Mariners hand the ball to Kendal Graveman, and the former Oakland right-hander was rocked in his first start. He gave up seven runs on six hits and three walks in just four innings at Houston. The Mariners surprised a few people starting the season with a respectable four wins in eight games. The reality is about to set in, this team is going to be well below .500 this season. Take OAK. GL, Jesse Schule
08-02-20 | Spurs v. Grizzlies -170 | 108-106 | Loss | -170 | 9 h 51 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Memphis Grizzlies.
08-02-20 | Flyers +1.5 v. Bruins | 4-1 | Win | 100 | 318 h 43 m | Show
This is a 5* play on Philly +1.5. Boston is one of the favorites to win it all, but the first place team in the Eastern Conference has had a ton of trouble getting organized for the restart. David Pastranak who leads the league in scoring, missed a ton of training as he was in quarantine, and Brad Marchand is out with a lower body injury. The Bruins appear to be vulnerable, and the Flyers are a tough opponent. Philly has won outright in four of the last five versus Boston, and seven of the last 10 meetings have been decided by one goal (four of those in overtime). Take PHI. GL, Jesse Schule
08-02-20 | Pirates v. Cubs -185 | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 6 h 0 m | Show
This is a 7* play on the Chicago Cubs. The Pirates have lost six of eight so far, and the poor start comes after a rough spring. Another loss seems likely at Wrigley today. Jon Lester will toe the slab for the Cubs, and he's been solid at home in Chicago. Lester didn't even allow a hit in his first start of the season. The Pirates hand the ball to Steven Brault, who has struggled against the Cubs. He's 0-1 with a 10.29 ERA in nine appearances at Wrigley. The Pirates are batting .178 so far (of course dead last in the majors). Take CHC. GL, Jesse Schule
08-01-20 | Jets +1.5 v. Flames | 1-4 | Loss | -217 | 17 h 17 m | Show
This is a 5* play on WPG +1.5. The Flames and the Jets are both serious Stanley Cup contenders, and the pundits have this series too close to call. If there is one thing separating these teams though, its the Jets #1 goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. He's second in the NHL in wins, and he's a candidate for the Vezina Trophy. These teams have a history of playing close hockey games. The Jets have won four of the last six meetings, and four of those six games were decided by just one goal. I expect another close game tonight, and in such games give me the team with the better goalie every time. Take WPG. GL, Jesse Schule
08-01-20 | A's -145 v. Mariners | 3-2 | Win | 100 | 17 h 40 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Oakland A's. The Mariners took two of three games in a series at LA, but they face a far better opponent at home versus Oakland tonight. Mike Fiers will toe the slab for the A's, and he wasn't sharp in his first start of the season.Fiers is 3-2 with a 5.93 ERA in 12 career starts against Seattle. The Mariners hand the ball to Yusei Kickucki, who was lit up in his season debut. He was 0-2 with a 4.29 ERA in four starts against Oakland last season. The A's are 5-3 in the last eight meetings. Take OAK. GL, Jesse Schule
08-01-20 | Lakers v. Raptors +125 | 92-107 | Win | 125 | 11 h 32 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Raptors. Players like Fred Van Fleet and Pascal Siakam should be primed to thrive in a greater role." They catch the Lakers off a win in their first game over the Clippers, setting up LA for a let down spot. They didn't look impressive in the win over the Clippers, and they should be resting players here with a 6.5 game lead in the standings and only a handful of games to play. Take TOR. GL, Jesse Schule
08-01-20 | Pirates v. Cubs -150 | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 16 h 44 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs have won five of seven, while the Pirates are just 2-5. Game 2 in Pittsburgh looks like it could be a pitcher's duel, but the price indicates a value bet on the Cubs. Tyler Chatwood will toe the slab for Chicago, and he was stellar in his season debut. He allowed one run on three hits while striking out eight in six innings in a win over the Brewers. The Pirates hand the ball to Mitch Keller, who also looked sharp in his first start. He faced the Cubs twice last season, going 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA. The Pirates are 1-7 in their last eight road games versus a right-handed starter. Take CHC. GL, Jesse Schule
08-01-20 | Dodgers -141 v. Diamondbacks | 11-2 | Win | 100 | 16 h 40 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Dodgers. The Dodgers blew a late lead in Game 1, but I am right back on LA as a small favorite in Game 2. Julio Urias will go for LA, and he had a solid debut allowing one run through five innings in a no decision versus the Giants. He faced Arizona three times last year, going 1-1 with a 1.28 ERA. The D'Backs hand the ball to Luke Weaver, who was hammered by the Padres in his season debut. He faced the Dodgers just once last year, and got rocked for six runs in 4 1/3 innings. Arizona has lost a lot of talent over the last two seasons, and is likely to really struggle this year. Take LAD. GL, Jesse Schule
08-01-20 | Canadiens v. Penguins -125 | 3-2 | Loss | -125 | 343 h 30 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Montreal Canadiens have been rumored to be more motivated by a chance to get the #1 overall draft pick than they are to actually compete here in these playoffs. An early exit would give them an opportunity to pick French Canadian forward Alexis Lafreniere. While it's only a rumor, it has been supported by mainstream media personalities such as Elliotte Friedman. They don't match up well against Pittsburgh at the best of times, and really their only hope would be if Carey Price could carry the team on his back. It's been years since we've seen that kind of play from the Habs #1 goalie. I like Sid and the Pens here to sweep this qualifying series. Take PIT. GL, Jesse Schule
08-01-20 | 76ers v. Pacers +5 | 121-127 | Win | 100 | 208 h 46 m | Show
8* | |||||||
08-01-20 | Chelsea v. Arsenal OVER 2.5 | Top | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 8 h 31 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on Over 2.5. It was supposed to be an all Manchester Final in the FA Cup (according to the bookmakers), but Chelsea and Arsenal each recorded upsets in the semi finals. Neither of these two clubs are among the top defensive teams in England. Chelsea conceded 54 goals this season, while Arsenal conceded 48. David Luiz broke a Premier League record, conceding the most penalties in a season (5). These teams have a history of playing high scoring games, going over 2.5 in four of their last five matches. Three of those games saw 4+ goals combined. Take Over. GL, Jesse Schule
08-01-20 | Rangers +1.5 v. Hurricanes | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 7 h 57 m | Show
This is a 5* play on NYR +1.5. The Canes were ahead of the Rangers in the standings when the league paused the season, and they will be the favorite here in the qualifying round. The Rangers had just one fewer win than Carolina, and New York swept the season series versus the Canes (4-0). Artemi Panarin had three goals and six assists against Carolina in those games. This series appears to be close, and I wouldn't be surprised to see some overtime games. All the trends favor New York, who are 41-14 in the last 55 meetings. The underdog has won outright in each of the last six meetings. Take NYR. GL, Jesse Schule
07-31-20 | A's -172 v. Mariners | 3-5 | Loss | -172 | 14 h 45 m | Show
7* | |||||||
07-31-20 | Dodgers -131 v. Diamondbacks | 3-5 | Loss | -131 | 13 h 32 m | Show
This is an 8* play on LAD. The Dodgers roughed up Robbie Ray in Game 1, and I expect more of the same in Game 2. Tony Gonsolin will get the start for the Dodgers, and he doesn't have a lot of experience. He's 4-2 with a 2.93 ERA so far in his brief career. The Dodgers have a capable bullpen though, currently ranking 3rd overall in team ERA. The D'Backs hand the ball to Zack Gallen, who walked five batters in four innings in his season debut. Arizona has a team batting average of .198 (below the Mendoza line). Take LAD. GL, Jesse Schule
07-31-20 | Pirates v. Cubs -1.5 | 3-6 | Win | 100 | 9 h 38 m | Show
This is a 6* play on the Cubs. The Pirates were terrible this Spring, and that poor play has carried over in the regular season. They come into Chicago as losers of four of six. Trevor Williams will toe the slab for Pittsburgh, and he hasn't had much success in Chicago. Williams is 3-6 with a 6.30 ERA in 11 appearances against the Cubs. Chicago will hand the ball to Yu Darvish, who has struggled to stay healthy in his major league career. He's just 1-2 against Pittsburgh, but has 31 strikeouts and a 3.00 ERA in 30 innings. The Pirates are 1-8 in their last nine road games. Take CHI. GL, Jesse Schule
07-31-20 | Magic -6 v. Nets | 128-118 | Win | 100 | 179 h 23 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Orlando Magic. The Brooklyn Nets bring a rag tag group into Orlando, without KD, Kyrie and Spencer Dinwiddie. They looked completely overmatched in their first scimmage game, scoring just 68 points in a one sided loss. They face an Orlando team that ranks among the top defensive teams in the NBA, and Orlando should have a decided advantage. After losing to the Clippers and Lakers, the Magic won their final scrimmage game against Denver. The Magic are back to full strength, and Nikola Vucevic should have his way with Brooklyn today. Take ORL. GL, Jesse Schule
07-30-20 | Mariners v. Angels -190 | 8-5 | Loss | -190 | 23 h 54 m | Show
This is a 6* play on LAA. The Mariners knocked the cover off the ball in a 10-7 win over LA on Wednesday, but I believe such results will be the exception rather than the rule. Dylan Bundy will toe the slab for LA, and he was outstanding in his season debut. Bundy allowed a run on three hits while striking out seven in 6 2/3 innings in a win over Oakland. He has also very sharp this spring. The Mariners hand the ball to Marco Gonzales, who was roughed up by Houston in his first start of the season. He did pitch well in LA last year, going 1-0 with a 3.55 ERA in two starts. Only Toronto hit for a lower average than the Mariners last year. I like LA in this rubber match. Take LAA. GL, Jesse Schule
07-30-20 | Dodgers -144 v. Diamondbacks | 6-3 | Win | 100 | 23 h 53 m | Show
This is an 8* play on LAD. The Dodgers will play Game 1 of a series in Arizona Thursday, and they will be a significant favorite. Ross Stripling will toe the slab for the Dodgers, and he's coming off an impressive season debut. He faced Arizona five times last year, posting a 2.50 ERA in 18 innings. The D'Backs hand the ball to Robbie Ray, who was not very impressive in his season debut. Ray was 1-2 with a 4.60 ERA in four starts against the Dodgers last year. Arizona was brutal in the Cactus League this year, likely a result of losing so much high end talent the last few years. Take LAD. GL, Jesse Schule
07-30-20 | Mariners v. Angels UNDER 9.5 | 8-5 | Loss | -116 | 17 h 15 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Under 9.5. I expect Game 3 to be a pitcher's duel. Take Under. GL, Jesse Schule
07-30-20 | Clippers v. Lakers -177 | 101-103 | Win | 100 | 21 h 47 m | Show
This is a 7* play on the LA Lakers. The Lakers started the season with a loss to the Clippers, and I bet on Kawhi and company in that game. Here is what I said before the season opner: "The Clippers were a playoff team last year and the Lakers were not. The Lakers are expected to be dramatically better with Anthony Davis, and so are the Clippers with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. The Lakers though are old, I don't like their depth, and I think it's inevitable that LeBron loses a step." The Clippers looked like the better team before the pandemic, but I don't like what I see from them since. While Lebron looks focused with his eye on the prize, the Clippers appear to be disorganized. Lou Williams embarrassed the team when he was caught at a strip club while he was supposed to be at his grandfather's funeral (turns out it wasn't even a family member's funeral). He wasn't the only one, Pat Bev, Montrezl Harrell and center Ivica Zubac have all left the bubble. In contrast, Alex Caruso decided to pass on his sister's wedding, putting his team first. The Lakers appear to want it more at the moment. Take LAL. GL, Jesse Schule
07-29-20 | Brewers -152 v. Pirates | 3-0 | Win | 100 | 24 h 9 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Brewers. The Brewers have split the first two games of this series in Steel Town, but I like the visitors in the rubber match. Brandon Woodruff will toe the slab for Milwaukee, and he's still looking for his first win. Woodruff is 2-1 with a 5.02 ERA in seven appearances versus Pittsburgh. The Pirates hand the ball to Joe Musgrove, who lost his first start against St. Louis. Musgrove is 0-1 with a 6.46 ERA in four career starts against Milwaukee. Pittsburgh was 3-18 in Grapefruit League play this year. Take MIL. GL, Jesse Schule
07-29-20 | Cubs +1.5 v. Reds | 7-12 | Loss | -188 | 13 h 42 m | Show
This is a 5* play on the Cubs +1.5. The 4-1 Cubs will be in Cincinnati to face a the 1-4 Reds, and Cincinnati is the favorite? Kyle Hendricks will toe the slab for Chicago, and he tossed a complete game shutout in his season debut. He's 6-3 with a 3.84 ERA lifetime versus the Reds. Cincinnati will hand the ball to Sonny Gray, who was also outstanding in his first start of the season. Of course that was against the Tigers, and the Cubs should prove to be a tougher opponent. The road team is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings between these teams. Take CHC. GL, Jesse Schule
07-29-20 | Nationals -157 v. Blue Jays | 4-0 | Win | 100 | 15 h 6 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Washington Nationals. The Nats have struggled to get anything going at the plate during a 1-4 start, but facing a rookie pitcher making his major league debut might be just what the doctor ordered. Nate Pearson is a 23 year old that is highly touted, but we'll see how he can handle his emotions starting opposite a legend. Max Scherzer got roughed up by the Yankees on Opening Day, but he did strikeout 11 in 5 1/3 innings. He's 4-2 with a 2.24 ERA lifetime versus Toronto. The Jays will be the home team, but the game will be played in Washington's ballpark. Take WAS. GL, Jesse Schule
07-28-20 | Cincinnati v. Portland -128 | Top | 1-1 | Loss | -128 | 18 h 21 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Portland Timbers. After winning their first two games of the group stages, Portland played a 2-2 draw against an LAFC team that was by far the best in MLS last year. They face Cincinnati in this elimination game Tuesday, and Cinci bounced back with a pair of wins after getting blown out by a score of 4-0 in their opening match versus Columbus. This Cincinnati team finished last year with the worst goal differential in MLS (-44). That's twice as bad as the second worst Vancouver (-22). I am not reading too much into their wins against a shorthanded Atlanta team and a Red Bulls squad that outshot them 19-4. GL, Jesse Schule |
